Hi fam...Today was a MAJOR over eating day! I had 1,123 extra calories!! I just don't kniw what came over me! Not sure if it's TOM, emotions...Or what, but it was bad! I just couldn't stop from smacking all day! I wanted to do good the next few days til my weigh in since I'm already on TOM, it might be a bad weigh in, but I didn't want to mess up horribly to make it even worse of a weigh in! 😫😫 BACK on track tomorrow though, we'll see what happens...UGH!4

Aiming to eat more fruit to stop meme snacking and hoping to start exercising again as back and hip are nearly better but must do it gradually so starting with yoga and a but if gardening.4

This is the lowest my weight has been in a very long time. It’s a day at a time challenge but I’ve been off sweets for about a year and a half and it’s been months since I’ve eaten any nuts. Those are definitely trigger foods for me. I do eat grilled vegetables and hummus almost every day. Hummus is one of my favorite foods, so I almost feel like I’m cheating. And I have loved vegetables since I was a little kid - so that’s a good addiction. Anyways, It is a bit of a challenge having my son living with me because I’m buying him things I shouldn’t eat, but I’ve managed to stay away from those foods.5

I knew this was coming as I weighed myself earlier this week and that number was a bit higher. It’s been a tough month and it’s ok because I got through it. I really was thrown by everything, not moving, not planning eating/snacking on foods that I don’t usually eat. I have been making small changes in the past few days to get back on track, and that’s what I am doing for May. Yesterday was a really good day. I went through my closets, tidied and also went for walk in the evening. I walked 9,782 steps which has been my highest in a while. So it’s time to get my mojo back now that it is May!
@lennoncpa - Nice loss and you are doing fantastic!
@annliz23 - Hope that you feel better soon and really good idea to get back to exercise gradually.
@CassieGetsFit2013 - You are not alone in the eating category. Today is a new day (and a new month too), so you can put tomorrow behind you and focus on now.
@mrsbell8well - We will get you moved back on the weight loss team. I hope that your stressful time is over soon.
@tryingagain5 - Congratulations on have a streak of good day! I cannot find that peanut butter pie recipe, but sounds like you have a good supply from your take out place!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - I love your reflections and thanks for doing that exercise. Even though I posted it, I forgot about it because I had to focus on opening the May threads. I hope that you feel better in May and that the seeds you planted blossom into wonderful, positive things for you!
@1theresamcvean - Thanks for posting that mask video! I find them so irritating. Not sure if you heard, but our mayor said that they may make mask wearing mandatory in certain areas of the city as things open again. I am thinking places like the TTC and GOtrains for sure. I like to sew, but have not had the energy to make masks, so I ordered some cute cloth masks on Etsy for the entire family.
@GingerPwr - You are doing so great! I love the idea of the smashed avocado in your sandwich.3 -
I am back at the office and so very tired. It's May 1st! I am ready for a new month. I have done IF now for 6 days. I really appreciate the discipline it gives me. My weight has stayed steady and not going down but not going up. I don't feel like I am eating much so I am surprised it's not budging down. But it has been very beneficial to stop eating when I set that timer. It makes me aware of how much mindless eating I do. This could be a great future tool for maintenance as well. My plan is to lose 1 pound a week to get back to my goal that I hit last July of 142. I think the weigh ins will help me with that. I did great in April with 100% success to my exercise program of daily yoga and 5 days a week of walking.
I have been cooking and baking like crazy. The most delicious Spring meals, desserts and snacks. Using fresh local in season produce. I don't think I have done too bad with portions. I write out a menu board to help me use up all the fresh CSA produce in my fridge. Today I made a sweet potato power bowl for my lunch. It includes lettuce, almonds, cranberries, vegan feta, garbanzo beans, avocado, fresh scallion, roasted sweet potato and a maple balsamic dressing. For a snack a slice of vegan cheesecake with fresh rhubarb strawberry sauce. See how yummy? Maybe a little high on calories but I am honoring the 16:8 window daily. Sometimes it's 19:5.
Roses-exercise routine and IF
Thorns-lots of gluten and sugar products. Crazy work schedule
Seeds-Following consistent actions to hit weekly goal. Limiting calories a few days before weigh in.
A crazy energy for us is this deep desire to move to North Carolina. I booked an AirBnB for mom, dad, Molly and Skylynn and myself. Mom decided it would be too tiring for her so we canceled our plans. But for some reason that energy is still there compelling Molly and I to keep moving forward. So we booked a place for just the 2 of us. It will also be to celebrate Molly's 60th birthday. It's crazy to be doing all of this during the virus concerns, we do understand that, but something is causing us to take action. We have some homes we will be looking at during the visit. I would ask for a job transfer. During our trip we plan to practice social distancing and will wear face masks and order take out food. We are going for 2 nights. It's about 3 1/2 hours from where we live. The cost of living is sooooo much cheaper there and the homes are so very cute. We would rent out our current home and my job would pay for the transfer. Especially with my wanting to retire in the next year and a half it seems like a good idea to take action now. Plus another concern is being able to afford the home we are in currently if the old folks pass away. They help with the mortgage payment. It's a large house and would be a strain to keep up the payments. I am pretty optimistic that I can get it rented out. And I have already called my mortgage agent and we have already been prequalified. crazy huh?
Good luck this month everyone. We are in it together!!!

Exercise: 30 minute walk, PT, stretching and strength
I didn't want to weigh in today but I have to face the facts and I think a new month is a good time to do that. I am going to give myself a break about gaining. I made it through a scary time, unfortunately I coped by eating so I need to deal with that now. I am 8 pounds up from when this started so time to bring it back down.
Roses-I wasn't consistent but I did try to get water, exercise and sleep in. I did do better with that as the month progressed and Jim got better.
Thorns-so many thorns...I guess that I gave into urges and actually had food in the house that I normally wouldn't. I over ate and ate when I wasn't hungry.
Seeds-Now that I am back with water, exercise and sleep, I need to focus on eating. I need to get back to paying attention to hunger, making a realistic plan and sticking to it. I also want to get back to the 14:10 IF and hopefully go from there.
I am already having a good day. I walked while the nurse was here so my exercise is almost done. I still have PT but it is a light day today. Hope to have a productive day. I also have a virtual happy hour with my sister in law. I am not telling her but I am having diet green tea Iced tea. It looks like white wine.
@Cafelelia It is hard to believe May is here already. I am not sorry to see April go Lol! I am with you, small changes to get back on track. That weight will come back down.
@Zumba_Luvah I know people who do zumba love it. I am so uncoordinated. I should maybe start with a class on line and get comfortable. It would be nice to have an exercise I enjoy.
@tryingagain5 Let me know if you figure out anything with the fogging. I am guessing you are off for the weekend now that you are washing your smock for next week. I hope the weather is as nice there as it is supposed to be here this weekend.
@GingerPwr Thanks for the tip about the water. I am going to try that. I also think I am going to have the BLT with avocado for lunch too! Lol! You really have had a great month! I am sure May will be just as good for you!
@1theresamcvean Thanks for posting the video with the mask. I am going to have to try that.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Thank you for sharing your Roses, thorns and seeds. You really have a lot to deal with physically and it is inspiring to see how you continue to move forward no matter what life throws you.
@CassieGetsFit2013 You got this! One day isn't going to set you back. Just get right back. It could be the TOM messing with you.
@annliz23 Glad your back and hip are starting to feel better. Good idea to start back slowly with exercise so you don't end up going backwards. I also need to increase the fruit and veggies and decrease the snacking. Let's have a great May!
@lennoncpa Nice loss! You also have had a great April! I am sure you will keep it going in May!
@Mrsbell8well Sounds like you are doing well even with the crazy work schedule. You do find joy in creating and preparing such yummy healthy meals, it is nice that it is a win/win for you. Good luck with your trip to North Carolina. I am guessing your parents would be moving with you? It is a big decision, I know you and your family does a lot together.
@hope002 Still moving in the right direction! You have been doing so well, it must be nice to have to get a new wardrobe for the warmer weather!4 -
@Cafelelia
I understand about the weight gain. Still trying to lose what I gained. You were going through a rough time with being sick. Definitely harder to exercise and planning on eating healthy.
Thanks, It's been harder with nothing normal but we're all in the same boat. I'm going to do my best to keep that up.
It's ok that you can't find that peanut butter pie recipe. You're right, I do have a good supply at a nearby restaurant and a good supply of the hot fudge cake I like at another restaurant.😁1 -

@sleepymom5
Looks like all of us had issues with overeating this month but nothing is normal right now. One day at a time.
Glad you're having a good day today.
I will let you know if I figure it out. I think sometimes it depends on the placement of the mask or possibly how tight it is.
Yes, I'm off until Sunday night. We're not back to 40 hours yet and they're doing involuntary layoffs. I talked with people in the other buildings who know people that were laid off yesterday. I don't know of anyone in my building on my shift but will find out when I go back and see who's missing.
It is nice here, already 60 degrees. I'm walking with my neighbor this afternoon and with a lady from my church tomorrow morning.1 -

@Mrsbell8well I'm so glad you're active in the group again! Also wish this pandemic would end - I'd so love to visit with you and Molly when you're in NC. Oh well - Someday, hopefully!
@sleepymom5 Be sure to give yourself a big hug and an even bigger break. You went through such a stressful and scary time and you did it with more strength than I think I could muster under the same circumstances. If you could weather all that you did, dropping a few pounds will be an easy task. You're right that it's a new month and you have so many positives on the horizon!
@srw32 Great loss and such a cute fur baby you have!!!!
I've been thinking about the April reflection. Here are mine:
Roses - obviously, finally busting through a frustrating plateau has been good, but also, I'm much more fit. I just did a Hiit workout and could do all of the hard or intermediate level exercises! Even if I'm not at goal weight, that's a huge NSV for me.
Thorns - Losing touch with my students. I have seniors, and because of the state's decisions concerning passing and graduation, most of them are done. We also got the announcement last week that we won't be returning. I know that's not a weight-related one, but that's what has made me saddest.
Seeds - Loving what I'm learning in Noom about eating triggers and how my environment impacts my eating choices. I'm in the beginning phases of making those healthier substitutes and starting to enjoy a slightly different method of planning out my meals.

Weekly weigh-in:
Username: 1theresamcvean
Weigh in week: Week 5
Weigh in day: Friday
Previous weight: 156.1*
Today's weight: 155.9
*previous weight is from April 10th because I was off for two weeks
Roses:- Just before I got sick, I signed up for a Boot Camp that I used to do in person every now and then over the past 12 years. It usually takes place in a park, early in the morning, which was nice. Now it takes place on Zoom but the people are the same.
- When I started to feel better, I introduced noon sessions. Last week I did one Tabata class and one Stretch & Strengthen class. This week I did one Upper Body HIIT, a Stretch & Strengthen and will do one more tomorrow, working my way up. They are nice because they’re live and interactive.
- School children sent some beautiful drawings to the seniors in my mom’s home. A photographer from the local paper in North Bay took photos with a long lens. My mom is legally blind but the drawing she got had a lot of contrasting colours and the nurses read her the letter from the child. She was happier that day.
- My mom’s nursing home is in a much smaller city, and has not had a single case of Covid-19. [The retirement home where she lived until March of this year has had 65 cases comprised of 47 residents and 18 staff, with 7 resident deaths. This is a small home with only 70 units (rooms and apartments). I didn’t even know they had 18 staff, so most of them must have been sick.]
Thorns:- My cousin dying, my getting sick, my dog getting quite sick for a little guy, and my mom in the nursing home with no visitors.
Seeds:
Improving on what I started with the Zoom Boot Camp sessions at noon, adding slowly as I go. And looking back through MFP history for times I lost consistently. Reviewing what worked and trying those strategies again. So far, some I’d like to try again:- Brushing off old recipes like Buffalo Chicken Spaghetti Squash or Creamy Vegetable Curry - both high volume, low-cal, flavour bombs.
- Keeping an eye on my net calories and aiming for what worked in the past, which was when I made sure to get exercise calories each day and eat at most half of them. E.g. 1,200 calorie goal: 1,500 food - 700 exercise = 800 net.
- Using MFP Premium to change my daily allowance so that I can have two ‘eat-up’ days and five lower calorie days a week. The total calories are the same per week, but it allows for higher calories for special days like one weekend day for a movie night or for the hunger that follows a cardio day, say. For example, taking a 1,200 daily goal and having two 1,700 calorie days (e.g. Thur and Sat) and five 1,000 calorie days. Keep in mind that I will have exercise calories so won’t really be eating only 1,000 calories on any given day.
- I'm just going to inch my way along with these ideas. Adding one at a time until I master it and forgiving myself when I don't.
My mom is in the yellow. She'd kill me for posting as the hair salon is closed. Her poor roommate was caught in her rollers. But, they look happy.
6 -
@sleepymom5 glad Jim is improving every day! It is hard to stay on track with so many things going on. Our lives have changed so much in the past 2 months!
Yes, I am still doing WW. We have our weekly meetings on Zoom. It is not the same as in-person, but you do get to see everyone & the leader runs the meeting.3 -
Friday 5/1
Food: over
Water: 80 oz
Exercise: 60 minute walk
Last night I was messaging with some of the people I used to work with when I was in another building for work. Apparently work has already laid off some people. From what I understand the employee's boss called them to tell them. I didn't get a call so hopefully that means I'm safe from this round of layoffs.
I ran errands today but didn't accomplish much else with my day. The weather was pretty good here today so there were quite a few people out on the trail. We saw the neighbor who walks his dog again today. He said he saw an eagle and that it was eating a fish. He said it was interesting to watch.
I talked with both my brother and sister today so that was nice.

Hi all,
@Freeglerock - congrats on the weight loss! I'm with you on the lack of movement with working from home, even taking away the walking across the office etc then I used to walk a bit going to/coming from the office and at least get outside on my lunch break
@CassieGetsFit2013 - that sucks, I get really bad periods and I'm normally on a contraceptive injective so I don't get them. With the doctor's only taking emergencies though I couldn't really justify going last month so have a bad feeling mine will be appearing soon (probably with a vengence for all those missed ones!). Try not to feel too bad about the overeating, we all have blips and it's just one day so you can easily get back on track x
@lennoncpa - yay for our Sunny pics, always makes me smile. Congrats on the weight loss, that's around where I'd like to be eventually, but a long way to go yet!
@Cafelelia - sounds like you're getting back into a routine, glad you're starting to feel better but remember to take it easy when you need to x
@tryingagain5 - sounds stressful at your work, sadly I think they're not the only ones and can't be an easy thing. Hopefully your volunteering will give you that extra bit of safety. Glad you're still getting out with the neighbours, your community sounds so lovely and supportive
@sleepymom5 - you have had such a stressful and scary month so please don't beat yourself up over gaining a couple of pounds! It's a new month, you're already getting your healthy routines back, I'm sure it will be back down in no time
@srw32 - congrats on the weight loss
Had a bit of a cheat day yesterday, went out to the grocery store and saw our local chippy has opened up again, so couldn't resist getting a bag of chips. Also had a few drinks at night with the flatmate - those liquid calories are lethal as they just don't feel like they should count Anyway the rest of the week has been pretty good so hopefully it will all balance out. I try quite hard not to 'ban' myself from any foods as I know that just means I'll want them more.
Trying to keep up with the workouts. I really love my instructors live streams that he does a twice a week but struggling to find some pre-recorded online ones to do inbetween. Been doing a few different ones but they're not really sticking. If anyone has any recommendations for cardio/dance-based ones that aren't HIIT ones then do please link me!3 -
Hi everyone! Yesterday was another good day in terms of feeling well and having energy. I ate on plan, drank 1.5l of water and did a 30 minute walking workout. I baked a few loaves of sourdough and also completed spring tidying of our closets and the boys tidied their rooms. So we have pretty much completed all spring tidying and cleaning. We usually go away a lot of the summer, but that is all up in the air right now. So my husband and I have been turning our attention to outside as we may be spending more time there. We did a spring clean up outside, and I ordered a few new things to decorate, which my husband is picking up today. The boys need a new basketball net too as we are just not sure when the parks and playgrounds will open again. Our province allowed the reopening of a few more businesses starting Monday, including garden centres, so we will buy some annuals and plant them for more colour. The boys finished all of their schoolwork this week, so we can all have a relaxing weekend.
@podperson1 - It is ok to have a few treats here and there, so don’t worry about it. Glad that you are keeping up with the workouts too. I am still trying to navigate through what works for me, so don’t have a lot of recommendations.
@timibotkin - Nice loss and that is nice victory!
@Zumbz_luvah - Another great loss!
@brown6267 - Congratulations on meeting your goal! That is amazing! I will arrange to have you moved to cheer squad. We do not track weights there, but feel free to keep posting, and weighing in if you feel you need some accountability to maintain. Also, you can continue to do the weekly step challenges too. I am so happy for you!
@tryingagain5 - That is good news about you not being laid off right now. Glad that you continue to get outside and catch up with your siblings as well!
@1theresamcvean - Those photos of your mom are so sweet and those cards are very impressive. That is such a relief that they have had no cases of the virus at her home. Thanks for sharing your roses, thorns & seeds and I love your goals! Now is the time of year where we would normally start seeing those boot camps in parks all over the city. Glad that you can keep doing it online!
@gingerpwr - Thanks for sharing your roses, thorns and seeds! So amazing that Noom is really working for you! I must be so sad to lose touch with your students. I have seen a positive difference in my kids since they reconnected with their teachers through online learning. As much as I can try to homeschool, I cannot replace the professionals like you!
@srw32 - Nice loss!!
@sleepymom5 - All things considered, your overall gain really was not that bad, especially considering all of the stress and all fo the food that people brough over. Glad that Jim continues to do well! My “seeds” are very similar to yours!
@hope002 - Nice maintain!
@mrsbell8well - Wow, a move right now is a big undertaking, but if it works for you, then go for it! It will be nice for you and Molly to get away for a little bit, especially because it has been such a busy time for you.

Friday 5/1
Food: Over
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: 30 minute walk
I had a good day yesterday. I got my exercise done early and then caught up with a lot of stuff I have had hanging over my head the past few weeks. I even put together office furniture for Jim's home office and set up his copier. This weekend, I plan to enjoy the beautiful weather and Jim. That and catch up with wash. We have been without a washer and dryer for over a week. I do plan to exercise and watch what I eat too. Hope everyone has this beautiful weather too and can get out a little to enjoy.
@srw32 Nice loss! Hope all is doing well.
@tryingagain5 You are right, 1 day at a time. I need to remember that. I hope that you survive the layoffs. Hopefully they will re hire once this is over.
@GingerPwr I do like your review for April. I feel so sorry for the seniors and what they are missing but it is true for the teachers too. I am glad that you are doing so well with Noom.
I understand you pay for their content but if you find anything interesting that you can share we would love to learn.Thank you for the kind words. I do need to remember that it was a tough month for me but I really wish I came through at least maintaining.
@1theresamcvean Nice loss especially considering all you went through. I love your roses! Even though your Mom doesn't have visitors, the nursing home seems to be sure they all get love and attention. I remember when they first couldn't have visitors and the staff made sure to get your Mom to the window. I also remember when she first went there and wasn't as close to you. Looks like it was a good decision considering how the other place was hit with COVID. You really have a good plan with exercise and eating for May. I think this will be a comeback month for us all. If you don't mind sharing that buffalo chicken spaghetti squash recipe, I would love to have it.
@kirsten11872 I am glad that they are having the WW meetings on zoom. I know my Mom loved her meetings and wouldn't have liked the online option. It is nice that you can still be with the other members and the leader.
@brown6267 Congratulations on meeting your goal! That is awesome! It must be so nice to look back and see how far you have come!
@Zumba_Luvah Nice loss! You are doing great!
@timibotkin Nice!! Hope all is well with you!
@podperson1 I agree with not banning anything from your diet and enjoy in moderation. I have gone the restrictive route and that didn't work for me at all. I am not good with help for the workouts. I know quite a few of our members are. Hugs!
@Cafelelia Glad that you are feeling better and stronger everyday. You and your family has been so productive! The more I hear about your tidying, the more I know I have to do that major clean out. It seems like once you spent the time doing the initial clean out, the follow up ones are much easier. I am going to do my usual spring cleaning but if I end up being home this summer. I am going back and use the Marie Kondo method

Oh my, Pam, you made me tear up there. It means so much to me that you remember so many things about each of us when you've had so much to handle in the last several weeks. You'll love the Buffalo Chicken recipe. It's like pub food after all. In this recipe, it says the calories are 405 per serving. When I make it, I weigh the squash and measure everything else precisely, reduce the chicken to 1.5 cups, and it comes out to 271 calories. In fact, every time I make a recipe I update it in My Recipes on MFP because sometimes I have a little more or less on an ingredient. When I serve it, I actually weigh the portions because, if not, I'm likely to cheat and take more. For leftovers of this, I scoop it out of the squash shell and put it in single-serving containers in the fridge or freezer. https://peasandcrayons.com/2016/02/cheesy-buffalo-chicken-spaghetti-squash-recipe.html4 -
@sleepymom5 - Yes, that’s totally correct about the Marie Kondo method. You do one big tidying session. You keep the things that you need and love in a way where you know where they are and make sense to you. So going forward, it is so much easier to clean and maintain your house, and also buy what you truly need and love. So I did the method in January 2019 and this year, spring tidying and cleaning was so easy. Because I have kids who are still growing (and fast), their stuff was the main focus this year. We had to go through their clothes, games, toys, hockey equipment and books because that is what they outgrow. But it did not take long because the boys are on board with the Marie approach too. Once Jim is better and you have some time, we can talk about it more if you want. I highly recommend watching the shows on Netflix as they are quite entertaining!1
