@Mrsbell8well
I am enjoying my walks, I know it's good for me to get outside for some fresh air and to get a little social time.
Hugs to you and your teammates at work.2 -
@podperson1
I don't know if we have anything here like you described. Those of us that are not volunteering right now are still being paid for 32 hours per week while the stay at home order is effect. That way we also get to keep our benefits. I'm grateful for that.0 -
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx
No, I'm not really popular.🤣 Just social. I live alone so unless I talk to the neighbors who are out I'm probably going to start talking to myself. There are some memes going around Facebook about people talking to the curtains, dishwasher, iron, washing machine, etc and those items talking back to the person. It's actually quite funny.
From what my boss told me, work is taking a lot of precautions so it probably would be ok but since I haven't felt comfortable with it I decided not to go in for now. He also said that they only worked 2 days last week and are only doing the minimum needed to keep up with the customer demand. If the stay at home order gets extended until the end of the month, I may volunteer then.
I hope your headaches and pain go away soon. Glad you're still going to be able to work. Stay safe!
That's great that you get your family involved in the exercise. Good activity for you all to do together.1 -
@lennoncpa
I can't do hummus. I've tried homemade and store bought and just don't like the taste.0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm Theresa and I live in Toronto, Canad, not too far from Lisa (Cafelelia)
I have a grown daughter and son. My daughter lives nearby with her partner who is working on his PhD. He's a poet and she's a marketer.
I have a son and daughter-in-law who live in a small town about an hour or so away in a little house built in the 1800s. They have two children who are Pippa, almost three, and Gil, almost one. My son is on paternity leave, which has turned into a challenge being housebound with two little ones. His wife is an ASL interpreter which is essential right now. Though she is trying to buy enough high tech equipment to do it solely from home.
I can't see any of them right now but that won't be forever. I am a germaphobe, so have been experiencing some anxiety. I'm combating it by keeping myself involved. One thing I've been doing is appearing three days a week virtually as Neighbour Theresa:Interactive Games with Nana, which occupies neighbourhood children while their parents try to work at home. That really helps.
I work for myself now, after having had a career as an advertising and publishing executive. A good friend and I are launching a start-up, which has to do with the genealogy trend that's going on now. I'm also a family historian myself. Luckily our business may just be pandemic proof. We will see.
Welcome, @ProfDawnLee! Already you've been such a good MFP friend to me. I'm so excited that you're here!
Welcome, @srw32 and great loss!
Welcome, @annliz23 Alphie is a beauty.

@tryingagain5 I don’t know if you remember 2 months ago when I did the homemade hummus. So funny that it didn’t occur to me that a bag of dried beans would blow up into a month’s worth of hummus. That was good but quite a learning experience.
I go through different cravings in my life as you might also. A year and a half ago I had to give up all sweets because I can’t eat them in moderation. I tell you how far I’ve come - I actually was able to pick up Dairy Queen ice cream for my son without batting an eye. It’s just totally out of bounds for me. I also have an issue with mixed nuts. I mean they are healthy- but not in the quantity I end up eating them!! I haven’t been buying any because I know what will happen. Before all of this when I was still able to eat at restaurants, I would occasionally have a salad that has nuts in it. I’m like a little kid who needs to be monitored 😀.2 -
@1theresamcvean I love Toronto. Haven’t been there in a couple years, but it’s such an exciting town.
I’m also sort of the family historian and about a year ago I submitted my dna to ancestry.com. In January of this year two relatives I didn’t know about contacted me and we had some exciting conversations putting together some missing pieces. It’s kind of interesting how much we look alike too! One is from my mothers side of the family and the other is from my fathers side. It’s really neat how accurate that dna is. The one from my fathers side of the family lost both of her parents at a young age and was just never given much information so she is over the top excited. I brought one of my cousins into the conversation because she actually knew the mother. That was a wonderful conversation!5 -
Congratulations to the whole team for the week four win in March and then the big prize. Shout outs to @tryingagain5 @phoebe112476 @pacsnc6 @kirsten11872 @xX_PhoenixRising_Xx and @Freeglerock!!!
@sleepymom5 I think about you all the time.
@Cafelelia Thanks for leading us all through this. I can't wait to meet you in real life even more now. xo
@CassieGetsFit2013 Congratulations on your loss! You're on a roll.
@lennoncpa Sunny is a sweet, tiny thing. I love the pics on your desk. He's so small the pen seems like a giant log. I haven't seen that brand of hummus in Canada. We often get things late.
@Mrsbell8well Spring in Virginia is a miracle. It looks like you're about six weeks ahead of us in Toronto. If you write a cookbook, I'll edit it and do your book PR. Really.
@pacsnc6 Glad to see your diagnosis and treatment moving along so quickly. You are strong and an inspiration. Hope you don't have too much nausea. Big hugs to you.
@phoebe112476 Great loss! Hang in there.
@nstephenson01 Quote of the week goes to you. "I ate like a jerk." So did I. I love the way you summarized your weight-loss journey in your intro. I will try that myself. It says a lot that you can maintain for so long. That's the biggest challenge for most people.
@GingerPwr Same to you, maintaining within a pound for almost a year. You're good at maintenance. Anyway, I know you want to move the scale. Please let us know how you find Noom. I'm signing up for a Bootcamp that I've done before and it will be all online. It's a three-week challenge. I know the people and they do nutrition too. So that may keep me from pandemic eating and tone me up.
@ljdanny What a good idea to get up at 7:30. I'm going to try that on weekdays. I've been slipping closer and closer to 9:00 a.m. Bad idea. I'm also all in with the curly hair. It's going to hide the fact that I need a haircut for a while at least. Curly hair shrinks.
@tryingagain5 You are so steady and inspiring I'm so glad your conversation with your boss went well. It's good to know he has empathy. Also, it's nice that you live in a condo community and can get out for walks with your neighbours ~ both people and pets.
@jedaschultz I hope you are well sheltering in place. I like your term 'sheltering in place snacks' even though I want to avoid them.
@KUMEcyclingteam I think you are the sweetheart of this group. We really are becoming a family in here. Keep us laughing while keeping your mom safe and stay well!
Big hugs to you all! xo5 -
Hi everyone,
Yesterday was a much better day in terms of how I was feeling. I exercised and felt good. I am starting my food planning again tomorrow and hope all is back to normal. The bread turned out great and was delicious! I will post a couple of photos after. I have a bunch of starter left so as long as I feed it each week, I can keep making bread. I had some anxiety yesterday from our provincial government projections about this virus, but I feel better today. I am backing away from the news cycle this weekend as it just gets to be too much. At 7:30 pm every night in our city, we bang pots and make noise for our health care, front line and essential workers. It has really taken off in my neighbourhood and it is so fun every night to do this and wave to neighbours. I will try to film it and post.
@1theresamcvean - Nice loss this week! I cannot wait to meet you too! We are so close by! I love business concept and cannot wait to hear more about it when you are ready!
@lennoncpa - If that hummus works for you, keep going with it. I always have to get the grocery store people to reach top shelf stuff for me too (I am 5’3”). So awesome that you could just stroll on through the Dairy Queen! How are things going with the nuts? I assume well because you have not been posting about it lately. The ancestry stuff is really interesting. I did the 23 &me kit and got one for my mom. The results were fascinating!
@tryingagain5 - It is really great that you are keeping up with getting exercise, fresh air and socializing. This is exactly what we all have to do to keep going during this difficult time.
@Zumbah_Luvah - So fantastic that you had a another loss! Way to go!!
@brown6267 - Sometimes it is hard to figure out what the right maintenance range is. Aside from BMI, you can consider how your feel, how your workouts feel and how you feel in your clothing. In any event, it is awesome that you are either at maintenance or close to it!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - That is good news about your job! I love how you train your son! My older son will absolutely not listen to me, other than when we run together.
@hope002 - Fantastic loss!
@KUMEcyclingteam - Fantastic loss and so happy that you came back on the team! Your photo is hilarious! Hope that you mom is doing well!
@Mrsbell8well - Having to go out to work right now would be stressful and it sounds like you have a good coping mechanism. Financial services are essential here to and it is tough for my friends in the industry.
@pacsnc6 - I hope that you are doing well after that first chemo session. Amazing that you could sleep during it! Thanks for checking in with us and take care!
@nstephenson01 - I keep forgetting that you lost 50 lbs, which is so incredible! You are so right about losing it in a way that you can live it long term. Love how you did not tell our husband about the healthier muffins and he loved them! The sourdough was quite easy, it just takes longer because of the long first rise and then letting it rise again. Making the starter is quite easy and you just have to remember to feed it once per week if refrigerated. My loaf disappeared between last night and today, but I have more starter and will do another one or two next week.
@GingerPwr - Thanks again for the info about the weights & hope that Noom continues to work for you!
@ljdanny - great goals for April! I total forgot to ask everyone about goals. A lot of people are using this time to tidy & purge, so go for it!
@podperson1 - I hope the parcel gets o your parents on time. So great that you are doing Zumba via live stream!

The finished bread & my younger son enjoying it! Note the cheese is balanced with a big salad (and soup that you don’t see)!5 -

For everyone in the step challenge, just a reminder to post your steps by around noon tomorrow!1 -
I am amazed by how good I feel today after the first chemo treatment yesterday. I have 4 Rxs to take at home - 2 are for the first 2 mornings and the other is for 4 nights after a session. This morning I was feeling off balance/dizzy but still no nausea. I am eating a little more than usual expecting the chemo will cause some weight loss sooner or later and I don't want to lose too much too fast. I had LOTS of saline with the chemo and my weight was up about 4 pounds last night but back down today.6

Hello everyone! Hope you’re doing well! Sorry I haven’t been on here much. I wage up, go on my computer, work all day, then I just relax. This quarantine situation is really wearing on me. I feel rundown & tired. Trying to get through this one day at a time!
Have a good weekend!6 -
Feeling low energy today. Low pulse and blood pressure. And an earlier headache. Stubbornly stuck to my workout routine. 57 minute yoga (lots of sweating), and 20 minute walk. Took a nap. Feeling better but glad to chill the rest of the day.6

@Cafelella so sorry I am late this week!
I did weigh myself on Monday but just so overwhelmed this week, I couldn't log in. I got my new scale and it syncs up with the my fitness app. I am really going to try and find a routine this week and be better about checking in.
For the new members, hi, I live in Los Angeles. Married with one son who had to come home from college and finish online. He is not a happy camper. I currently manage my elderly parents care, home and finances. They both have dementia (different kinds).
This week I had to fire one of the night caregivers because she showed up drunk! Then the agency talked to the rest of the crew and apparently they knew she was doing that! OMG! If you knew how much I paid for this agency you wouldn't believe it. So I had to sleep at my parents for a couple of nights. I didn't really sleep. I interviewed some new people to come in. I was in the process of hiring a senior care manager who specializes in dementia. Which is good because I am going to move to private care, but I have to hire a payrolll company, add workers comp to my parents policy and the consultant said it could take 2-4 weeks to get a team in place. obviously interviewing and finding well qualified people (instead babysiters) takes time. I have also been shopping for my parents, the caregivers and my family for items we just can't get online. I wear a mask and gloves. I'm asthmatic so I am slightly terrified but it seems like California is doing a good job on slowing the curve.
@sleepymom5 I am so sorry your family has gone through this ordeal. I can't imagine. Sending you and your family lots of love! And thank you for sharing your story to help the rest of us know what can happen.
I am going to go back and read everyone's post.
one last thought...My husband was on a group call with some of the biggest retail CIO's in the country and one of them said they are trying to rebrand the phrase social distancing..... it should be physical distancing. We need to keep the social part up and I am going to try my best this week because I truly appreciate everyone in this group!
Hang in there everyone!

Things got a bit dire there in the middle of the week, but I got moving again.
Daylight saving ended here last night so got an extra hour of sleep last night, thankful for that.
@JillyBT I completely agree it should be called physical distancing. People are socially connected through the internet in a lot of different ways, and there's no risk in that. Social connection these days is often physically distanced! Who knows what muppet came up with the 'social distancing' term? lol!
@Mrsbell8well Don't push yourself too hard when you're not feeling well. I learned that the hard way. I have low BP and a low RHR, and sometimes I need to rest rather than exercise. It annoys me! But after fainting a few times I did learn! I hope you enjoy your chill day
@kirsten11872 I know how you feel. It's hard not to get overwhelmed. I set little goals for myself each day, such as get a certain number of steps. Either that or I'll fold completely, and that's not okay with me.
It's almost lunchtime Sunday here, so I'm off to get some exercise in. Keep on keeping on everyone.5 -
@lennoncpa
No, I guess I don't remember you making hummus before. I probably did read about it but forgot.
My issue is chocolate and peanut butter. If I want something I have to go get a single serving of it or I would eat a whole bag of whatever it is, peanut butter cups, chocolate cake, peanut butter pie, etc.4 -
@1theresamcvean
I don't know how steady I am.🤔Just trying to do my best. Also, try to be inspiring. I've always liked helping others when I can and right now, I can only do it through social media or phone calls.
I'm glad my conversation with my boss went well too. He's only been my boss for a few weeks. My former boss went to another shift recently.
Yes, living in a condo community does seem to help with people being neighborly. I don't know everyone who lives here but I'll still say hello or wave as people drive past.2 -
@Cafelelia
Yes, getting out for a while and socializing is good for my mental health too, which is also important.
Your son looks like he's really enjoying the bread.1 -
Saturday 4/4
Food: over, only tracked part of the day
Water: 42 oz
Exercise 60 minute walk with my neighbor
I had no motivation to do anything today, didn't even feel like working out. I was very lazy today. I watched a Hallmark movie, read my book, talked to my brother for a while. Made some energy bites and ended up eating all but 5 of them.🙄
There was a knock on my door, which I thought was strange. I found a plant outside my door and saw my pastor and his wife leaving my driveway. I thought that was so nice of them. It was raining this morning so I thought my neighbor and I wouldn't be able to walk today but it stopped so we were able to go. I ordered supper from a local restaurant tonight because I want to support them as much as I can. My meal was healthy but I also got a peanut butter pie, which I thoroughly enjoyed.3 -

I’m not surprised. Food intake has went up, excercise has been non existent. I think anxiety and stress are kicking in with all that’s going on in the world. It’s time to reel it in and get back at it. The gym that I’m a member of is offering free online workouts starting Monday to members and non members. Everyone that completes their 21 day challenge gets a free t shirt. They are also waiving all fees for April, which they should since they are closed. I’ll try to get all of my steps posted in the morning!6 -
