Hello everyone. I just wanted to check in. I am half way through reading the thread. I am sorry I am not commenting. It seems weird not jumping into the conversation as I have so many comments in my head for all your posts. I just don't have the heart or time to do it right now.
Jim had a really good day yesterday. They were able to wean him down on the ventilator a bit. He seems to improve a tiny bit each day but yesterday was his best day yet. I am trying not to get too excited that he may be off sooner than anticipated. I guess prepare for the worst and hope for the best right? A week ago was the absolute worst day so I am thankful that we have made so much progress since then. His nurse said to me yesterday that they all couldn't wait until they could meet him. They have heard so much about him. My husband is the opposite of me, I am quiet and he is very funny and outgoing. I swear he knows everyone in our town. I am guessing the nurses are hearing what he is like from my friends that are still working as well as other nurses who know him there.
Now to me I am doing ok. The girls and I are still symptom free so I am hoping we are out of the woods by now. We are done with our quarantine on Friday so I can be less dependent on others getting me things. I also have been doing well once I took note of how things were going (not drinking, eating junk or not eating, not exercising), and made a plan to make care of myself. I also made a plan for all this food that is being dropped off at the house. I am freezing what I can, I feel like I will need these meals more when Jim is home. I also have been eating my normal breakfast and lunch then eating a small amount of whatever we are having with a salad. There has been a lot of pasta. I am also allowing my self to have some of the treats. I am putting it on my plan and waiting to have them at the end of the day. I was grazing and indulging throughout the day. I know I am not going to lose any weight having dessert every evening. However, in some strange way, knowing I can have them later keeps me from them during the day. What ever works right? I have been making a point to get 30 min of cardio in and my PT etc in each day. I can't wait until I can go on walks again in my neighborhood. I would rather be outside of course. So that is the update on me. I am going to hopefully catch up with this thread by tomorrow. Then maybe I can start commenting. Hugs to all of you. This is a tough time for everyone. I hope you all are taking care of yourselves too.9 -

trying to get my steps in staying home. some of my videos don't really give a lot of steps so i try to get a walk in. yesterday was my birthday and it was tough not being able to see my new granddaughter but the kids sent me pictures of the baby and leaned a sign up against her wishing me a happy birthday, it was cute. I did go around the corner to my friends house for a social distance drink. we sat outside at the firepit 6 feet away and had a drink and a chat. my son bought me dinner, roses and candy, also a nice card. my other son sent me a gc to get my hair done, i'm guessing he got the hint when i tagged them all in a facebook post to my hairdresser, lol. And the best gift of all we are having family photos done, i am very excited for this, we haven't done family photos in probably 19 years. i could never get my husband or kids to go over and do them, they hated pictures. Every year for Christmas, my birthday and mother's day i ask for family photos and this year i am getting them. My kids, their girlfriends, my granddaughters, my husband and myself. It was supposed to be this weekend but the stupid virus ruined it so we have to do it in May. I told them it has to wait til my hair gets done. I have to defintly get some pounds gone by then, my son buying me candy doesn't help, but i did hide it. They also got me cake yesterday but I don't like the type of frosting on it so i won't eat it, i know my husband bought that kind because he likes it. So far today I have been lazy and feel the day is ruined, I am just getting motivated. I am going to head out for a walk and maybe get my ouside furniture uncovered. That will make me feel a little productive.5

Congratulations to @CassieGetsFit2013, @phoebe112476 and @srw32! You are our top 3 “losers” in Week 1!!!
Congratulations @xX_PhoenixRising_Xx and @lennoncpa for 5 straight weeks of losses!!5 -
Hi everyone,
Yesterday was a good day, but we all took it easy as it is the “weekend”. I stayed on track with food and water, but took a break from exercise and focused on playing board games with the kids. My husband continues with cooking duty and makes these healthy but more intricate meals for us. I will miss his cooking when quarantine is over and he is working from his office again. Some ambulances drove by last night during our cheering/pot banging session for essential workers. They waved, honked and flashed their lights and just looked so appreciative. I am so happy that they know what we are doing and hope that they can spread the word to our local hospital.
Just an fyi that the 20 lb challenge is a fun challenge for us and we don’t need to enroll. Each team is just automatically a part of it. This is a no pressure challenge, but let’s give a good try this week!!
@sleepymom5 - So good to hear from you and that is good news about Jim’s positive day yesterday. Glad that you and the girls are symptom free. You are doing really well with the exercise and eating, all things considered. It is such a tough time, but taking care of yourself is important right now. Huge virtual hug to you and I keep praying for Jim
@annliz23 - Fantastic loss and great week of exercise!! So happy that you joined the team!
@timibotkin - It’s ok, the anxiety is getting to all of us. I did a quick look back through the 2020 spreadsheets and you have lost 18 lbs this year so far, which is amazing! So just try to refocus this week as best you can. That 21 day gym challenge sound like a great way to get on track!
@tryingagain5 - That plant is lovely! It was so sweet of your pastor and his wife to do that! These acts of kindness are so special during this difficult time. Glad that you are supporting a local business. Peanut butter pie is so good! I make my own and you reminded me that I need to pull out that recipe and make one, maybe for Easter.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - You are right that a loss is a loss, and that’s great! I like that idea of setting little goals for yourself each day. I am going to try it this week starting today.
@JillyBT - Don’t worry about being late and thanks for weighing in. If you ever need to skip a weigh in, just let me know either here or by message. I am so sorry about what you are going through with your parents and their care. You are an amazing daughter! You are absolutely right about the physical distancing vs. social distancing. We have always been a supportive group, but just even more support during this challenging time. Check in with us when you can and take care!
@Mrsbell8well - I hope that you are feeling better today and getting some rest. Take care and sending a virtual hug!
@kirsten11872 - Yes, this situation is just so challenging, and we have to take it one day at at time. You maintained this week, which is really good considering how your feel. Hang in there and we are here for you when you need us.
@pacsnc6 - I am so happy that you feel good after the first chemo. Hopefully the dizzy feeling has gone and there is still no nausea. The fact that you ate a bit more than usual is really positive too. Sending a virtual hug!
@ljdanny - Happy Birthday!! It sounds like a great day even with the distancing. When you do get to take your family portraits, they will be even more special! Here is a virtual bday cake for you. As it is virtual, the entire cake has 0 calories and you can imagine the icing to be whatever you like!

Yesterday was such an odd day. Woke to 3” of snow. 😫 I swept it off the deck and the rest melted by the afternoon. I wanted a rest day and was determined to stay in my comfies and not get dressed. Food wasn’t the healthiest (although I did steam some lovely artichokes for dinner) & water could have been better. Hubby turned on a movie at night I wasn’t interested in. I don’t know what came over me but after a rather lazy day I threw on some jeans and my hiking boots, grabbed Willow and took a hike. It wasn’t that I was mad at my husband... I just felt antsy. Willow and I walked for an hour. So I ended up with over 10,000 steps after all.
I call this “Just 2 old gals out for an evening stroll” 😊

😭 Back up by 2.8lbs...I lost 7lbs in March, I DON'T want to gain it all back in April!! I HOPE I have a loss next week! I DID start my period yesterday, so I don't know IF that is to blame for this gain, or ME! 😫

@CassieGetsFit2013 - It’s ok and your cycle could very well have an impact. I checked back to January and February and you were just about at 216, so you are still down 7. Just keep your eyes on the prize and refocus this week. You have been doing great and you can do it!!
@nstephenson01 - It is just stunning where you live and love the name of your portrait!
@1theresamcvean - I got thrown by homeschooling and all of the quarantine stuff, but when I get some time this week, I will post a list of team members with the real names that we have. Such lovely weather here in Toronto today!0 -
Sunday 4/5
Food: on track, I think. I did eat the rest of my energy bites but I didn't figure out the calories when I made them yesterday
Water:48 oz
Exercise: 45 minutes high intensity workout, 60 minute walk with my neighbor
I accomplished a little today. Did a load of laundry while I exercised, started cleaning out my bookcase, went through some papers, watched my church's service online, walked with my neighbor and then spent some time outside with some other neighbors. I joined a zoom meeting with one of my book clubs. I didn't stay online the whole time. It didn't use as much data as I thought it would but it used 20% of my battery and made my phone pretty warm. I don't know if that's normal since I've never done this before. When I watch my church's service it doesn't get that warm. Maybe it was because it had to use a lot of power with the audio and video. I 'm pretty technology challenged so I don't know.

That's good that I am still down 7lbs! I want to try and lose at least 3 more this lonth so I can be down 10lbs! If more, that will be even better! Thank you for the encouragement! 🥰😋😘

@Cafelelia
Yes, the plant is lovely! I'm not good with plants so I hope I can keep it alive for a long time. It was very kind of them. My random acts of kindness is happening through social media and phone calls right now.
The peanut butter pie I had was really good. I've never made it myself but I can follow a recipe so I probably could do it.2 -
@nstephenson01
That's a beautiful view! And a cute doggie!1 -

Today's mini-goal was to get at least 10 mins of movement before work, so I hopped on my Spin Bike. It was a grand total of 12 minutes, but it was *something* before the day started. I then wound up sitting on my backside in meetings almost the whole day and barely got 15 mins for lunch, it was just a weird day. Straight into the gym after work however, and got in 45 mins elliptical with 10 mins warm up and 10 mins cool down on the bike.
Yesterday I did a very similar cardio workout, but also thought I'd try my luck at a basic strength workout. I've been super cautious about strength training after all the nerve pain I've dealt with - I miss it so much, I want to maintain my muscle as I lose weight again and force my body to burn fat not lean muscle mass, and tbh, I want my visible muscles back (ahh, vanity). But I am not willing to go through the hell of the pain I have lived through again when I have it mostly under control right now.
But, some basic chest press, squats, resistance band rows, bicep curls, tricep extensions and some very careful planks and I can feel my muscles today but I don't appear to have set off any nerve pain. Pretty happy about that. Now to just stick to very basic a couple of times per week.
Food is all on track, water is good. Stress levels are still pretty high, but pretty sure that's the new normal.
@ljdanny Happy belated birthday!
@lennoncpa We do have fairly tall genes. My husband is 6' 2", his sister is 5' 11". Her son is 6' 5! My son only turned 15 a month ago, we're all wondering what height he's going to get to - his feet are a size 15 US! Nobody in the family has feet that size lol.
@tryingagain5 Some apps will use a lot more power and will heat up your phone more. I don't use Zoom, but that doesn't sound unusual to me that it would cause that. Similar apps like Skype or Teams when on video call have done that to my phone.
@CassieGetsFit2013 Do you track all your fluctuations? There are apps that you can use that plot weight loss over months and show overall progress, precisely because TOM and so many other things can make the scale jump up and down. It's very likely TOM causing a jump now, but I used to find it reassuring to know how my weight would jump around consistently each month. Funnily enough I'm on a hormonal med now for my migraines that means I don't really get my period, and my weight doesn't fluctuate monthly like it used to. I don't get the monthly debilitating migraines either, so no complaints really lol.
@nstephenson01 I love your photo. I totally understand that antsy feeling, I get it all the time right now. I often wind up in my gym when that happens, I hope your walk helped!
@Cafelelia Board games have been out in force here with the lockdown, I've been playing Bananagrams with the kids a bit. Lots of fun, even if they haven't quite worked out yet that they got their good skills with spelling and words from me!

@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx Love that you made yourself get a little bit of time on the bike in the morning! Sometimes, that's all you need to get yourself in the right frame of mind for the day.
Things are going good with Noom. Yesterday was the first time in a while that I felt really in control of myself and my eating. It's amazing how much difference food choice can make, even if you're in the same calorie budget. I'm already down a little on the scale, but I have a couple more days before weight in here to see if I can maintain the loss.4 -

@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx
Thanks for the information on Zoom heating up my phone. I guess it doesn't surprise me too much but it was strange to me since it had never done that with anything else I used and it was so warm. I think I was on it about an hour. I guess I"ll just have to watch and limit my time on it.1 -
Good morning everyone,
Yesterday was a nice day. I was on track with food, water and just did some gentle walking. I let the kids have another laid back day because online school starts today. My husband did more delicious & healthy cooking, including a really nice veggie soup, pulled pork and some spicy tofu for me. We have been binging on Netflix on and off. We finished the English Game, which we loved. We also have been watching the docuseries, Sunderland til I Die, which is excellent. Our family trip to Europe this July is very likely cancelled. But I had promised myself to brush up on Spanish and learn some Portuguese. So as a distraction from the news cycle, I started with Duolingo this weekend. I speak Italian because of my family, and my French is pretty good. So other Latin languages should be not too bad for me. I have taken Spanish classes in the past, so that is going pretty well. But Portuguese is not coming that easily, mainly because of the pronunciation. I also tried a few Japanese modules for fun, and that is really tough.
@tryingain5 - It is hard to be productive at all these days and you are doing really well. I have to dig up that peanut butter pie recipe, and I can post it. It is not hard and I think that I found a way to make it reduced calorie too.
@GingerPwr - That is great that things are going well with Noom! Do they focus on types of food or macros? I have heard so much about them, but don’t know a lot about the approach.
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - Fantastic work out and nice that you tried out the strength training. Yes unfortunately, higher stress levels are part of the norm right now, so that’s why the exercise is so important now more than ever. Your home gym has me rethinking our set up here (ours is a corner really). When our kids were born, we reduced to just an exercise bike, punching bag and some weights. I think it would be nice to get a few more things when quarantine is over.
