@ericNJ - I had the same experience last night as you did the other day--good all day and then blew it at night. In looking at my diet breakdown, I had a super high carb dinner, which left me hungry after the sugar crash set in. Could this have happened to you as well? This seems to be a pattern in my food log. I'm going to go for 40 carbs (or preferably less) dinners this week and see what happens.0 -

Hi Brandi, so happy for your loss! It is strange how weight fluctuates. This loss should inspire you going into August.0 -

Yesterday afternoon I had about 14k steps and I think my calorie adjustment was somewhere 350-400. (Not sure where some of you get >1000 calorie burns but that's a topic for another post ) I went for a bike ride and afterward went to log my water and saw the below picture. Why do my calories keep disappearing?!?!? It's hard enough to earn any worthwhile nevermind have them zeroed out every time I go for a bike ride. I checked the technical support page and there was just a general announcement of having Fitbit synching issues. Not sure if that covers this issue or not.
@DaffyGirl88 it looks like you have a second app logging your exercise? I would disconnect it from MFP. I only have fitbit sync my activity... also, what is your activity level set at? These could all affect why you aren't getting much of an adjustment.
I would suggest removing the app that you have linked.
Also, look at your Fitbit app-what total calorie burn are they giving you? Subtract 500-1000 calories depending on what your deficit is, and it should be roughly the same as your calorie goal plus exercise adjustment.
I hope this may help a little!
Edit: I see the 400+ calorie adjustment is for a 37 minute bike ride... that is definitely way too high. That may be why fitbit did not give you any exercise calories... it could figure that the 400+ covered the activity from your ride plus your extra from steps!
@cmhubbard92 thanks, I will do some higher math and see what I come up with. My activity level is set to "active". Fitbit does not register cycling.
I believe you can manually add cycling with Fitbit. I have the Versa, and I am able to set bike or spin to my workout...
I have myself set as "not very active" and I'm set to lose 1.5lb a week, so Fitbit gives me some pretty big sdjustmemts-but my calorie goal is a little over 1200...
No matter what you use to calculate exercise calories, there will always be some room for error... same as without weighing your food you'll never be 100% sure how many calories you're eating... it is an estimate, and if you are getting your goal losses over a month or so, then your estimate is pretty good! Just look at your overall results and adjust as you go!
Hopefully something made sense here, I just woke up 😂
@cmhubbard92 thanks for the info. I'm never sure whether to set it as inactive or active, log exercise or let the Fitbit take care of it (which is what I normally do). I typically log as best I can and hope that my exercise makes up for any errors. Life is too short to spend weighing and measuring everything.
I looked on my phone before I headed out and the only exercise options that I saw were "walk/run/hike". I'm sure there's a setting somewhere that this 60 yo non-technologically inclined brain couldn't find.0 -

Not sure why. But I'll take maintenance rather than a gain. Today is my 2nd daughter's birthday and she thinks that makes her boss of the day so I don't think I'll have time to exercise. Literally, as soon as she woke up she had the whole day planned. She has a friend over right now so that's how I'm able to do this. Tomorrow is a friend's daughter's party so that makes 2 days of not great eating in a row 😬 Going to try to chug water and find some way to be active.
@cmhubbard92 you are doing so amazing! Very inspirational!!1 -

You are really showing dedication by keeping track of your macros. I'm sure I eat too many carbs, so I try not to look. I love foods high in protein so that usually isn't a big issue for me. I usually have a binge if I skip on the protein and go heavy on the carbs.0 -
