Considering how difficult it is to get appointments for the shot, I’ll bet a lot of people who said they wouldn’t take it are reconsidering. As more people get vaccinated and they don’t have adverse reactions, more people who had reservations about it may decide they want it. We’ll get it when we can. We tend to stick close to home anyway so I’m not worried about getting it soon. I was more work about finding Shingrex. I had a fear of getting shingles and you have no control over whether or not you get it other than the shot. It took me about 18 months to find anybody that had it. At least with Covid, I can mask, socially distance and stay home a lot. I feel a have a little control over that.

I think you really summed up well there how DH and I are starting to think about it. It's a total mess here in Maryland.

I weighed in today, so my two week loss is 7 pounds.

Pam--I'm glad you were able to get the shot. I can't wait for February 5 to get here for my second shot. I hope your wait is successful with vaccine available for it at that time.

We got our shots. The line was long and we inched along for about an hour and a half. The bottleneck was caused by a shortage of people manning the computers where they verified our information and took copies of our ID’s and insurance cards. After that it was straight to a paramedic who administered the shot, then sitting in a chair for 15 minutes to ensure that neither of us had a reaction. Overall, it took just over 2 hours today. The time seems to vary a lot. I’ve had friends who went to the same site who have reported completing the entire process in 20 minutes, while others have been somewhere in between. Luckily, it wasn’t too cold today and the majority of the wait time was in a covered parking garage or indoors. So far neither of us is experiencing any reaction to the shot, but I’m expecting my arm to be sore tomorrow.

That's great! (Not the sore arm but the vaccination)

Shingrex was the only shot that ever gave me a sore arm or other side effects. Covid reaction is probably similar. It would be worth it to feel somewhat protected. I was back to normal with 48 hours.

As expected, my arm is a little sore this morning, but not severely so. Like Helene, I haven’t had adverse reactions to many vaccines. My second Shingrex shot was an exception. I had chills and fever and body aches for about 12 hours, then felt fine. I also remember that my last tetanus shot made my arm incredibly sore and the soreness lasted for almost 3 weeks. Flu shots have never bothered me at all, so I’m hoping my next COVID vaccine won’t either.

Pam--good news that your Covid vaccine didn't seem to affect you either. Like you, my arm was a little sore but not as much as when I got the flu vaccine.

I took yesterday off from my dieting routing. I sometimes think the body builds up a resistance to losing if it is the same routine day in and day out. 7 pounds lost in two weeks was acceptable to me, so hopefully I will hit 9 to 10 pounds lost in 4 weeks.

While idiots are marching for their 'right' to not follow the scientific guidelines:

Almost a third of recovered Covid patients will end up back in hospital within five months and one in eight will die, alarming new figures have shown.

Your rights end where mine begin! (Basic legal principle). And that's probably more than 6 feet!

Today is Optavia day (essentially another variant of packet day).

I wonder why there is so much Optavia food on ebay and so little jenny craig food.

I wonder how many of the foolish people who attacked the Capitol will come down with Covid in the next few week. And of course they will be bringing it home to family and friends. Perhaps getting it will convince them that it’s not a hoax. By the time Trump leaves office, over 400,000. People will have died on his watch.

Jean, I think there’s truth to having to go off a diet here and there. If the body gets too used to the lower calories, metabolism slows down because the body thinks it’s starving. Starting up again gives it a little kick start. Congratulations on your progress so far.

That would be a great result! Congrats!

I'm wondering if maybe, just maybe, 2021 might be the year I get down to a normal BMI. 18 pounds from now!

President Donald Trump and President-elect Joe Biden have released their public schedules for Monday, which is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a national holiday.

And the two are planning to mark the day very differently.

Trump’s schedule says ― as it has for weeks ― that he “will work from early in the morning until late in the evening. He will make many calls and have many meetings.”

Biden’s schedule, on the other hand, notes Monday is a National Day of Service ― and as a result, the president-elect will be volunteering at the hunger-relief charity Philabundance in Philadelphia.

Maryanne--Each morning, reaffirm that 2021 will be the year you reach a normal BMI. You can do this!!

    From your lips to.... LOL!

It surely would make my cardiologist happy (she would so NOT be happy that after my last visit with her I went on a binge).

Apparently the cheeto's new grudge is the A-listers who agreed to appear at Biden's inauguration.

    A little over a day!

    Oh, come on, Fox News:

Ainsley Earhardt: "They'll criticize President Trump but no one can argue, he is a worker. He doesn't drink alcohol, he stays up late at night, he watches every show, he's working -- he got to work immediately."

    (emphasis mine)

My favorite CNN columnist's (Chris Cillizza) response:

If "stays up late at night" is a presidential qualification, make me president!

    You'd think this was a joke ---

President Donald Trump's last full day in office is Tuesday.

The official public schedule, provided by the WH:

President Trump will work from early in the morning until late in the evening. He will make many calls and have many meetings.

That's been the same schedule for days....

Oh, the things you see on the news. Apparently in Japan, there is a ritual called "husband tossing." Once a year, the wife can toss the husband over a snow bank or hill, the purpose of which is to build more trust between the couple.

Oh, the visions that stirs up in my brain. Someone on the NS board suggested I keep DH busy by giving him "deep cleaning" chores. Yeah, good luck with that. LOL!
