MUAC for 3/14:
Tracked: no - was doing well but gave up after we were invited over to a friend's house for drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and ultimately pizza
Under: no
Exercised: yes - 20 minutes walking the pooch. At least I did this one right!
This weekend we had get-togethers with a couple of friends for the first time in a long time, and I gave up on eating well. The only thing I can do is try to do better the rest of this week. Any tips for managing social visits in the future? I have a hard time with this and with restaurant foods, where there is no calorie count. We haven't done much of either since the pandemic, but as we get more comfortable going out, this will be a pressing issue.

@richmondwriter First, so glad (and jealous) that you are socializing again!! One weekend isn't going to ruin you. Having said that here are some of my coping strategies.
For socializing at home or at a friend's house - (you can take these along to a friend's, great hostess gift)
- make low cal and / or low carb snacks. Cheese & pepperoni (I like turkey pepperoni), veggies & dip (bell peppers, cauliflower, celery)
- have low cal and or low carb drinks. I love a margarita but if I'm going out I'll switch to pinot grigio to save both calories and carbs
- ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have a glass or bottle of water handy. Take a sip before or after every bite or drink. That will keep you from downing a glass of wine just because you're thirsty.
For going out I try to drink a glass or 2 of water and have a light healthy high protein snack before I go. That way I'm not hungry when I arrive and throw caution to the wind. If I know where I'm going beforehand I look up their menu online and plan my attack. If you've made up your mind there's no need to look at the tantalizing pictures on the menu.
Again...ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS have a glass or bottle of water handy. Order that before your beverage of choice and keep it filled.
If you are "forced" to eat the pizza ...enjoy it! Just try not to eat 4 or 5 slices and get back to normal the next day.

These are outstanding and well thought out tips! Thank you so very much for taking the time to write these down. Having a glass of water on hand would have really helped last night, because there were times when I did drink the wine simply because I was thirsty.
We were careful - social distancing, just a couple of people, outdoors, et al. But it still made me a bit uneasy.1 -

Hi team! I have been quiet but still here reading your posts every day, trying to hang on to my motivation as best I can. I have been spending what little time I have with my daughter, who has been.. let’s just say, testing all of our boundaries as parents😬
It’s been super fun! But I am so grateful to still be here and still a part of this group. It’s comforting to know that this group will always be here.. always working together, struggling together. All wanting the same thing. It’s nice to know..when the waters are rocky I don’t have to drown in them and I don’t have to eat all of my feelings, I can come here, regroup and get back to business (as best I can anyway)3 -

Happy Tuesday everyone!
What’s a goal everyone is gonna accomplish today?
I have two!
-stay within my calorie limit
-drink 8 cups or more of water
Those are two things I’ve been struggling with so I’m gonna do every thing in my power to accomplish them!
I absolutely love this group 💗
You guys helped me find my passion again!

@Krysless2 Hang in there! @richmondwriter and I are both empty nesters, living proof that there is light at the end of the teenage tunnel. However long and dark the tunnel may seem when you're going through it.1 -
Sorry guys haven’t been posting been in so much pain since last Tuesday with no relief hopefully I’ll be back soon blessing to you all2

@DaffyGirl88 Those are great tips for going out/socializing with friends. I'm going to try to remember them for myself too!
I feel like I'm almost always spending my week trying to make up the damage I've done on the weekend. My sister and grandma spent the weekend with us so having guests on top of the potty training was pretty stressful and we all know how terrible I am at handling stress!

I think you had it right since this pandemic started last March. I will forever beware the idea of March.
Speaking of that whole thing. I am finally to the point where I need to wear a belt again for the first time since this pandemic started and I gained a bunch of weight. But somehow the scale isn’t budging and I am still heavier than I was last year.
I will never totally understand the body and weight loss. But I am happy with this progress and am just going to keep going at it.3 -

@erikNJ Ha! You may be right about March. I saw a meme that said "March 2021. Just like March 2020 except we have toilet paper" LOL
Congrats on the belt and good to see you!1 -
ug... I actually posted this...
Todays Goal:
Double my steps from yesterday, just for today.
The take-aways:
First...always have coffee before challenging yourself (wait, did I really say that?)
Second...always do the math (I need to do how many?)
Yesterday 7747 X 2 = 15,494
So far today 16,197
But I sure looked silly walking in circles in that parking lot for the past two hours. For those of you who regularly get these types of steps in each day, respect. How in the world do you do it?

@maryc11 Great job! I knew you could do it!
How do I do it? Perseverance. And a lot of small walks throughout the day. I'm teleworking and try to get up every hour and walk to the end of my street and back, takes 8-10 minutes. At the office I would do a lap around the building, it's a big square. I take a short walk at lunch and maybe again after dinner, about 20 minutes. They all add up. But don't look at my count for yesterday, between meetings and rain I only got about 6k. 😕1 -
@DaffyGirl88 thanks for the vote of confidence, I admit it did keep me going yesterday. Breaking it up into smaller walking sessions seems to be the way to go for awhile. I am moving fine today, was a bit concerned my ankles would be screaming at me but, nope.
Todays Goal (and before coffee) = daily average for the month of March (to be modified slightly if greater than 3.2 miles)
Hope the sun is out for you today and smiles on you as you walk the walk.0 -
MUAC for 3/16:
Tracked: yes
Under: yes
Exercised: yes - 20 minutes walk (pooch not with me as she was in obedience class)
Last night I had to still do a lot of work, and really did not want to take the time to walk, but I remembered I think it was @annabanamc recently pushing herself to go for a walk when she didn't want to--so I did, too. You all are a great influence. It actually helped clear my head and I was able to get my work done.
@murdog31 - I'm sorry you've been in pain. I hope you are feeling better soon.
@DaffyGirl88 and @maryc11 - Creative tips and excellent work on the steps!0
