@sunny9847, @micki48 I hope things improve for you both soon.
I have had the best weekend. Thursday night I planned where to put the plants at the front, OH dug most of the holes while I cooked, then we laid the weed membrane. Friday I finished work on time at 12.30 (it's so unusual it's still a novelty!), went to the butchers, picked up some garden chairs I bought on FB marketplace, garden centre (and the car satnav took me wrong - I was proud of myself for figuring it out without consulting Google!) then for a run. We spent the whole evening planting all the plants and putting the slate down, but the front garden looks amazing. We still have about 800kg of slate; there's gaps/levelling to do but we'll chip away at that.
Saturday I had an 8.30am personal training/physio session back where we used to live - I haven't seen my PT for a year and I have some niggles so I had him do a physio assessment. He then showed me 11 different exercises to target the areas that need work, so I've created a Garmin workout with those in and I will do it every day until it gets replaced with another. He could only do an hour, and it wasn't even a workout it was demo/try, but I felt stronger immediately from activating various muscle groups. I do find my sessions with the chiropractor beneficial (it's sports massage really) but they aren't a patch on these training sessions. I have my pay review on Tuesday and if I get the pay rise I'm hoping for, I plan to treat myself to a 6/12 week block of personal training once or twice a week.
After that I went to another garden centre and bought some different style bird feeders to try, then met my Mom and sister in a park for a catch up. Had my hair done so I feel presentable again - just tidied, nothing drastic! - then went to my inlaw's farm. We cleared an area of land which was overgrown and uncovered about a dozen hedging plants - well over £100 worth - which were still potted. I guess the previous owner never got around to actually planting them, but as my mother-in-law wants to put a new hedge in elsewhere, these will form the start of that. My father-in-law looked better than I expected all things considered, and he's able to stand/walk with assistance - he's making good progress but we don't know how far it will go. We had fish and chips for tea on their front lawn which were delicious (way better than around here!) and we shared a portion so it was reasonable calorie wise, then headed home about 5.30pm. Stopped at IKEA and Homesense on the way back and did a little shopping - first time this year as stores only just opened a fortnight ago. Got home at 8.30pm and decided not to eat anything else, so I was quite pleased it was a 3-meal-no-snacks day.
Today was a tip run then the supermarket, followed by a run this afternoon. I've had some cravings today (it's that time of the month) but stuck to my rules and within my exercise calories all week. It's been a quieter day as we're both tired, and I will definitely sleep tonight!
This morning, and I'm hoping it's the same tomorrow, I weighed in under 82kg. That would be a good start to the week.4 -
Thinking of you @micki481

I worked out!!!! I did a Barre workout and a quick elliptical workout.6

@jugar CW 191.2
Sorry it's late getting to you.
I'm not surprised that it's a bit up but, I don't like it one bit. However, my pants are starting to feel a wee bit looser, so that makes me happy. I guess they balance each other out.
We're back at home and have taken some good, long walks since Friday. I aim to keep that up every day, if the weather isn't too horrid.
@YinxFed getting your posterior to the wall is quite a challenge, I know! I get giggling whenever I try it because it's just so ridiculous that we *used* to throw ourselves around into all sorts of positions without a thought. I have a video of mom getting up from being seated on the beach (circa 2016) and she does quite a good job. I try to keep that in mind since she was then 85 yrs old. Keeping flexible is helpful.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. See you on the flip.
Be well and keep reducing that stress. We're all better off for it.3 -
Good evening or whatever time it is where you are!
It has been a busy day - for lots of us.
First of all, much love to you @micki48 - I'm thinking of you often and hope that your son will turn the corner and start to get his problem solved. Keep well and take breaks whenever the little one lets you. You are certainly excused from weighing in and all for as long as necessary.
@deniners2 - it is amazing how "inspiring" a new health assessment can be when you know you'll have to step on that scale! You're going in the good direction for sure - whatever it takes, right?
@Terytha the hungry all the time thing is the worst. I'm just getting past a period of time like that, and it drives me crazy. Hope it passes!
@lorib642 - Wear the tiara! That's a great milestone - happy dance!
@KellyBgetsfit - get on those workouts! You are right - they really help your mood and keep you going with all your goals. Just add one to start with and go from there!
@DD265 - that really sounds like the most wonderful weekend indeed. I love your descriptions of the garden, the fish and chips, the surprise hedges, and the general family projects. When the plants are getting established, post some garden photos! And well done for resisting those cravings. Enjoy the zzzzzzzzzs
@EvMakesChanges good job on the looser trousers! That feels great, even if the scale is being cranky and annoying.
OK folks! Reminder time - last week of this month!
Monday weigh-ins:
@DD265
@graceojo9993 -
@sunny9847 hope youareon the mend. UTI's are no fun!
@micki48 I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts. I hope that moving him to a bigger hospital results in some good progress and answers for you guys.
@KellyBgetsfit Hooray for getting in some work outs!
I had a good weekend and was able to meet my calorie goals with the help of my exercise calories. I have also logged 4 days in a row of ballet workouts. My hip is getting better but still driving me crazy. I should visit a PT like you @DD265! It would probably help. I will keep working out and hopefully it will stop soon. I think I will allow myself to eat exercise calories on the weekend and stay a little more disciplined during the week.3 -
@micki48 - thinking of you and hope you report back soon that he's home and recovering. hugs.
@jugar that was a speedy amount of hiking you did - all without the fitbit, sheesh.
Monday morning - off to work - 3 big salads portioned to start the week - now to do the same for the pickle snacks and my poached chicken/whole grain mustard snack (I eat it cold - love it)
Caved yesterday and had more than a portion of raspberry coconut squares - the major cave came when something was not going right while preparing my taxes - problem solved and sugar crisis over - I was so busy in the garden this weekend, I don't think that it will register.
@Gidgitgoescrazy and @PlaneMonkey - Chipotle has always been a great place where you feel you can make good choices easily and know it's going to taste great - how'd the cauliflower rice come out?2 -
PW 83kg
CW 81.7kg
Heading in the right direction! I'm under 13 stone now, so my next goal is under 80KG - hoping to be there by the end of May.5 -
I was really "off" last week so I am going to set goals. I have 5 pounds until my next goal and I would love to meet that by June.
1. Log everything and hit my macros
2. 5 workouts
3. Walk or Elliptical after dinner 4 days.5 -
Saturday I had an 8.30am personal training/physio session back where we used to live - I haven't seen my PT for a year and I have some niggles so I had him do a physio assessment. I forgot to mention how inspiring this is - I have always relied on good trainers and physiotherapists when things go askew. It is amazing what can happen when they are knowledgeable and know just how to get you to the right place to fix things. You are inspiring me to get my sorry butt back to physio to help straighten out all the stuff that remains a bit wonky since my year of living with sitting and lying only on one side. My lower spine is getting more straightened out, but my hips are still very uneven - so yes! I'm going!3 -
@conleywoods the right trainer can be a godsend. I like having somebody to correct posture or figure out that the hip issue is caused by a shoulder issue, for example, and then tell me what to do about it. In my case, the tendonitis in my knees is caused by weak and inflexible ankles, resulting in my knees taking all the load. One of the exercises for this is a deep squat supported by a resistance band, so I can focus on allowing my butt to go right back; it's also a great excuse to incorporate more trail running. My ridiculously tight hip flexors are due to weak lower abdominals and obliques. I've got a few pelvic-tilt exercises to address this.
@jugar people question why I would travel 75 miles for a personal training session, but that man is worth his weight in gold. I've had personal trainers before and they were OK, but he's is a qualified physiotherapist and an athlete in his own right so it's a whole other level. It's the only thing I regret about buying the house; between the distance and the mortgage it's hard to justify, otherwise I'd still be on with 3x sessions a week. I can't bring myself to look for a trainer locally because how many would I have to go through before finding another gem? I hope you get a lot out of your sessions!
I did the workout this morning before work and it took ~54 minutes including warm up and cool down apparently. 9 minutes of this was 'rest' where I was rearranging equipment or getting off the ground or whatever. As I get more confident with the exercises I won't have to check the notes on my phone in between and that'll speed me up. I did have to skip or adapt a couple of exercises, because I didn't have the right size yoga blocks. I tried using paint cans but they were too tall! My yoga blocks have arrived this afternoon so I can try it properly tomorrow; most importantly they're a nice teal colour. I'm going to spend some time clearing more space in the garage this evening and I think I can arrange it so I can leave the bands/mat out for the whole session rather than putting away/getting out in between sets. I may create a shorter version; skipping the warm up/cool down as they aren't strictly necessary (it's not particularly intense) and possibly reducing the duration of some exercises - I think this could be useful for days when I'm running as well, or couldn't drag my backside out of bed in a morning.5 -
Morning everyone, the sun is shining here and things are looking bright for the week ahead.
I am off this Friday as my seasonal trailer spot opens that day... means lots of lake and outdoor time between now and the end of September.
This year will be different of course - no more drinking and snacking with reckless abandon. Scales will be taken and nothing will change but the scenery!
Hope everyone has a great day.4 -
Happy Monday!
It was wonderful to get back on a horse this morning - a huge 17-hand fellow who is quiet, kind, and knows his job even if he looks like a moose and requires quite the step stool for me to get up there. I have a lot of work to do to get back to the kind of core control, mad hip flexor flexibility and strength, and ankle mobility that I need - but it was not too bad on the sore buttock. I'll be going every week for the next little while, and when my horse gets back from his final breeding season and has been rendered "retired", I'll be ready to get him back in shape. I am going to be SO sore for the next couple of days... Everything from my neck on down is grumbling already. I think it will be time to get the sauna going tonight
I am late setting up the sign-up thread for new members! If you have friends you would like to invite to join our lovely team, that will be the place for them to go. I'll post the link here as soon as I get my job done.
@ashleycarole86 yes! reckless abandon will be relegated to what you do in the lake, on the trails, and any other way you can get outside and have a blast burning calories. Go go go!4 -

Hi ...sorry about not being on last week. I found myself slipping back into bad habits and couldn’t bring myself to get on the scale. The good thing is that lockdown is over and the gym is now open. This week I am going to drink a lot of water and go on a walk every day.

I am so glad you made it back! One week slipping is not too bad - and you stopped it and got yourself going again. WTG!!1 -
@texasruby354
Welcome aboard! I know you don't "officially" start until Sunday (the first day of our May challenge), but please come on in and let us know about you. I think we know where you live! I know it can feel a bit like you are dropping into a group where everyone knows each other and it can take a bit of time before you feel at home, so just go ahead, introduce yourself, and ask any questions you might have. Please add me as a friend so that we can also send messages. Thanks!3 -
Morning all and welcome @texasruby354
So far my weighing daily has been going just fine... interesting to see the daily fluctuations
Sun is still out and it's making walks amazing (and so easy to want to go on)!5 -
Cauliflower rice was good, I have pre-made everything except that, apparently its better and doesn't get mushy when you make it right before eating it, I just measure out 1/2 a cup then add some lime juice, and saute it in a spray of olive oil for 2 or 3 minutes, toss in some cilantro and it taste just like Chipotles.
Starting tomorrow I have new hours, I am doing 7.30 till 4. This 9 till 5.30 was killing my vibe...
I am happy ! 😊5 -
Thanks for the welcome! I'm a newbie from South Texas and I want to get serious about my weight loss.
I've always been active and slim my whole life until I had kids. I kept 20 pounds with the first and ended up 60 pounds heavier after my third daughter. It's been 20 years now and no more excuses! I have been putting myself aside and focusing on everyone else, but now that they are all in college, It is my time. I do have an amazing husband and family and a beautiful wardrobe that just waiting for me to get into! I need a lot of motivation and support, so I decided to join this group. I am looking forward to engaging with everyone and getting started on my weight loss journey!6 -

Oh, I can *definitely* help you with that skewed hip! Get the damned border opened already so I can help. Good grief! I've about had it with not being permitted to go anywhere. Well, that's a little dramatic but not completely. I come by it honestly what with our theatrically inclined family, right!?
I'll touch base tomorrow with my Wednesday weigh in. xoxo2 -
I'm not too hopeful about tomorrow remaining green as I have overindulged a tad and haven't been able to exercise like I wanted to in order to work off those calories. There was a minor mishap yesterday between my right ring finger and a runaway rock from the retaining wall we were building. So along with the mildly sore hip, I now can't hold any dumbbells in my right hand! And I had just finished my first Epic upper-body workout! Ohh well.... Hopefully I will heal soon and can get back at it.
Welcome to the team @texasruby354! Everyone here is great for motivation and support3 -

Those danged babies! I'm so glad you found us - it is indeed your time now. I'm way up in Québec, so sometimes I'll be jealous of your weather, but then I'll brag out cooler summers and fabulous snow! In between all the grumbling, I am sure we'll be able to help you stick with it. There is no such thing as 100% perfect, but we will do our best to help you through the rough patches and stick the team tiara on your head when you lead us all along. We're going to have a great time! And of course we want to see photos of the fab wardrobe...
@EvMakesChanges you have no idea how much I'd love for you to help with my hip and sacrum skewage! Is that a word? It should be. We'll get there one of these days.
@Gidgitgoescrazy I love your new schedule too. I have no idea what Chipotles cauliflower rice tastes like, but your version sounds just fine. I'm not much of a rice eater to begin with, so I have not felt any need to perfect a substitution for it, but cauliflower can add plenty of substance without too many calories, so go for it!
I missed horse time today due to stupid car repair issues. Grrrrr. Tomorrow morning first thing, himself is getting some attention! I had a really fun Pilates workout today, though. Some of the forms of rolling are getting better, and some are just hilarious without really working at all! Next hurdle - front scale. I really enjoy the articles and info on gmb.io - and this week there was a posting about the front and back scale. It's a good test of balance, mobility, and strength. I'm totally fine with the back scale, and fail utterly on the front. Some serious quad and hip flexibility work needed! Luckily, they give good info on how to get there.
I hope everyone is working on their goals, finding out new stuff, and enjoying the last bits of April. Many hugs still flying to @micki48 - I hope your son and the rest of your family are doing all right
Off to stick with NO SUGAR this week. It is hard... Lemon balm herbal tea. Ommmm. Or something.4 -

Hello everyone!
Yesterday was a great day for calories and exercise. I was able to squeeze in a walk followed by a ballet workout. Today calories are on target as well. My husband is getting his second covid shot tonight and we are picking up Chinese. Made sure I had room in the budget. Not sure if I will get a full workout in tonight or not but will try.
@Gidgitgoescrazy Those hours sound way better 😌 They are pretty close to my work day. I like getting done earlier in the day.
@PlaneMonkey Oh darn it! I hope you recover from all your aches and pains lately.
@jugar Glad you're getting back to normal more and more! I bet your horse missed you. He is probably sore too!
Had a great day at work today. One of my little students needs lots of help and isn't able to play with simple toys yet. I've been working on putting toys in a little light up fish tank with her and feeding her chocolate 🍫 😋. Today she put the toys in on her own for the first time!!! So exciting 🙌 😍6
