I’ll finish the day with 600 calories left because I have a back tooth bothering me and it hurts too much to eat. Maybe I should skip seeing the dentist tomorrow, this could be very slimming!5

Happy Sunday night! I had something amazing happen today on our walk. I wanted to go further than the original goal! I was actually pretty psyched since that is a phenomenon that I rarely, if ever have when it comes to exercise. My stamina is improving too, which is nice.
See you on the flip.
Sleep well, everyone.

Here are my steps for the week.3 -
PW: 83.1
CW: 83.0
I have been a strange mix of exhausted and energetic this weekend. Friday I finished work just after lunch, did... something productive (can't remember what), went for a run then showered and had a 2hr nap which I never do. Saturday we were doing bits around the house and garden, then yesterday we did a 2 hour walk in the morning, was busy outside in the afternoon then I ran in the evening and got my 3rd best 5K time. This morning I could've stayed in bed another couple of hours.
Because we've been so busy I definitely haven't been drinking enough, we've prioritised being productive over specific exercise, I've tended to track retrospectively rather than up front, I've eaten my exercise calories every day (but not gone over, at least) and there was quite a bit of salt in my weekend particularly. I think I might've eaten exercise calories every day this month, and I'm not sure if I'm dehydrated, stressed or I dropped my calorie goal a little low without changing my mindset to match. It's 1723 calories a day and I'm not starving by any means. The exercise calories are mostly consumed by snacking and that's generally more habitual or emotional than hunger. My 1-a-day rule has also gone a bit out of the window.
I think I'd gotten into holiday mode a bit the week before last, plus (as you might have gathered) I really enjoy being productive and I can prioritise that over 'wellbeing'. I expected that being back at work last week I would get straight back into my routine but that didn't happen, plus work is quite stressful at the moment which won't be helping.
By way of a 'reset':
- if I want to eat, I will drink 250ml of water first
- I will reimplement the 1-a-day rule and that 1 will be a single portion, not the number of grams I can fit in my calories
- I will walk or run at least 30 minutes each day
- I will track before eating each item5 -
Happy Monday!
@EvMakesChanges
Great job on the stamina increase! Soon you'll be unstoppable. Eeeee Hah!
@DD265
This is the perfect time to make a plan like that - before you get into any kind of big slide. You have lost 17 pounds so far, and you do not want them to be found again! I'm going to join you on the drinking water rule. I always drink water during the meal, but should start with it - especially at lunch where I tend to go a bit overboard. Tracking before eating is also very, very useful. You've got this!
I'm back on my fitbit for the first day since my surgery and all the weeks of recovery with the dreaded drain, and now I guess I want to have numbers to challenge myself. The snow is gone, the mud on the road is slowly improving (gotta love dirt roads in the spring...) and there are no more reasons not to get out there and rack up some serious stepping. I'll rejoin the step team soon, and will accept invites on fitbit to keep up with you big steppers!
I also just started using the Canadian fitness app Participaction. It looks great - any of my fellow Canadians use it?4 -
@jugar I feel like I downloaded it a long time ago but it was well before my fitness journey and I did nothing with it. What does it do? Let me know if it's worth a download.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead! My husband and I went for our 6K walk last night after the snow had stopped and the paths had melted a bit... went from thinking we weren't going out at all to doing a longer walk, so that was a nice boost.3 -

I'm glad I put on the tracker today. Over 17,000 steps so far. I took a crazy hike to try out some new footwear. The things were so amazing that I went everywhere on all kinds of terrain - wet, dry, rocky, roots, tons of leaves - they passed all the tests. I'm not sure I'd want to do miles in them on pavement, though. They're like wearing socks but they protect your foot and are waterproof. If anyone is a minimalist footwear afficionado as I am, check them out -

Morning all! I know I just said I was only weighing weekly, but my husband is on Noom and they weigh daily, and I felt like I was missing out on all the fun. My mentality feels so different this time that I don't suspect negative behaviors as a result of the increased scale, but I'll continue to monitor how I feel. I can see how it gives some directional understanding and that this information could be powerful for me.
Going golfing again tomorrow night... otherwise just keeping up with my daily walks.
One more until I'm taking my two week diet break, so hoping for some solid progress before then!3 -
I'm on plan, on track, only eating what fits in my goal for today, but I can't focus on work, all I can think about is FOOD! I keep opening the fridge to see if any miraculous calorie-free treats have magically appeared.
They haven't.
It's very disappointing.
Back to my water.... And my desk.
Is it Friday yet? 😉3 -
Hello everyone!
I've been doing well with my calories and getting in lots of outdoor exercise with all the warm weather. I have not been doing any ballet workouts but it's going to rain all weekend so that will change!
I never found my diamond and my husband took me ring shopping last weekend. I ended up picking a new ring and it should be ready tomorrow. My original ring was so well loved they suggested it be rebuilt which was just as expensive as a new setting. I will save my original ring and have it redone later and maybe with a colored gem instead.
Work has been very busy and we have two therapist out on maternity leave. One made it to 37 weeks with twin girls! The twins weighed in at 7 lbs 9 oz and 7 lbs 14 oz!!! Phew, I can't even wrap my head around how big they were. We have some baby coyotes on our road and their parents put them in a culvert near our friends driveway. We have a group of ladies who walk every day. When they got near the pups all six of the babies came rushing out to greet them and started rubbing against their legs. The ladies were understandably concerned. Hopefully the parents will move them ASAP. I could see the little cuties from the road when I drove home last night.

carrots! I've been leaning on carrots for a week - not calorie free but better than what else I might grab. We also always have boiled eggs in the fridge - filling/protein and better than what else I might grab. If you have any tips (other than water, ha!) let me know. and, now, me, back to my desk too!2 -
Good Evening everyone!
I'm doing well so far. It is day 2 that I'm back properly on plan.
I must admit that I am cheating a little.
I've been on a diet since forever! Always trying different things! So over the last few weeks my cupboards are full of healthy, dusty items like shakes, coconut waters, supergreens, protein powders and so on ....
So if you all don't mind I want to use that up first before it runs out of date Obviously I will eat normal food as well, but I'm hoping that concentrating on shakes will get my mindset right.
After two days on sort of ketogenic lifestyle I feel better already. The bloating feeling is going especially that TOTM is finished. I'm hoping for good weightloss this week.
I also have only 2 jobs now so I'm hoping to get my new routine started soon.
I have to take my boys to school at 8.30 and normally I'm back at home at 8.45am so if I'm really disciplined I should do my Epic 1 Youtube workout (that @YinxFed suggested ) before I have a shower and go to work at 10.30am.
I do a lot of steps during the day. I work as a kitchen assistant in one high school and I clean in the afternoon in another high school so I'm always on the move. 21,000 today
I will try and participate more. I feel like I know most of you forever but you don't know me that well
I hope everyone is well x6 -

I need to cook eggs! Good call. I had a hard boiled egg and a dill pickle with my lunch all last week, it helped me feel satiated longer. I think about food cause I know I'm going to eat some delicious stuff and I'm excited! Lunch was a tortilla pizza from the MFP blog videos (customized with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, shallots and bacon - so good!) and tonight is fish tacos, one of our favourites. Mmmm tacos.......
I haven't been giving in to snacking, and I'm not actually hungry, I just can't stop thinking about food! Like, there's just do many things I'm inspired to cook.
K, off to drink another glass of water and then hit up some tacos.
@ellz_runs I really liked the look of those videos @YinxFed posted about too, but I can't commit to more than 20 minutes so once I'm on my computer I'll try to see if she has any shorter programs. Hope you are enjoying them!2 -
What a great Tuesday here on the chat! fridges filled with imaginary calorie-free food, baby coyotes (I'm in love), crazy jobs, the challenge of working (and working out) from home. And recipes.
I figured out at about 3:00 this afternoon that today is my anniversary - 26th! We have been together for 30 years, but got married when our daughter was just about to turn 3 so that we could adopt her little brother. We had a good laugh when I came home from my daily horse visit with some special food for dinner, and I carried it into the house naked. Don't get silly - I ALWAYS have to walk in naked after being with the horses! My husband has severe allergic asthma, so after a trip to the barn, I strip outdoors, pack up the clothes in a plastic bag, seal it, and get in the shower. The plastic bags are treated like radioactive waste until the clothes are in the washing machine and the bags are washed for the next use. So really, walking in naked is kind of normal. Dinner was great!
Those endless thoughts of food - great way to avoid what needs to be done. I frequently find myself lining up something to cook (or eat) rather than doing that thing I know will take some effort and I want to put off. Yeah. I hear that one @PlaneMonkey and @eggfreak ! I like your ideas for substitutes to high calorie foods, and it also helps to pre-plan the food for the hours I want to work so that the kitchen is off limits during that time. I try to pretend I am somewhere else at work. Sometimes it even works! Maybe an imaginary boss in the next room could be useful. A really cranky one who hates it when anyone slacks off to go look in the fridge.
Well, tomorrow we are expecting 15 cm of snow (6 inches), and (of course) I have early errands in the morning. Hopefully the snow will start later and I can just stay home and not make cookies or something. Wednesday people, are you ready? Good!

@PlaneMonkey I like low calorie popcorn like Boom Chicka Pop. They have about 70 calories for 2 Cups of the salted popcorn plus fiber. Eat it slowly one piece at a time. I also like to make shakes with vanilla protein powder, almond milk, a splash of maple syrup and a dash of pumpkin pie spice. I also make the same shake without the spices and use powdered peanut butter. It has all the flavor of regular peanut butter but hardly any fat and way less calories.5

I spent a lot of yesterday morning looking at my goals for fitness for the year and how I am doing so far. I cant believe its April ALREADY! It seems like my routine has been out of whack lately and my tracking shows that I haven't been consistent with exercise, food or tracking... So I need to get back to some accountability and good habits.

Pleasantly surprised. Food is currently all over the place and I am not working out/running. I'm a bit stuck in a rut. Life...6 -
@jugar, I'm pleased to report that a higher water intake (back up to 3-4L a day) is helping me stay under my calorie goal and not eat exercise calories - I hope you're finding the same!
Yesterday was awfully stressful. I went into the office - since last March I'd been once in April last year, once in September last year, then this was the first time this year - and I was a bit anxious about it for various reasons. An alarm system had been installed, and I mis-understood the instructions to mean that it was at the entrance to our shared building, not our internal entrance, and proceeded to set it off as I was first in, then panic. I think if I hadn't been already anxious, and there'd be somebody else there I would've been fine, but I couldn't figure out how to open the keypad cover so I wasn't sure it was the keypad and I had the alarm going for what felt like a good 5 minutes. This was about 8.30am, and the anxiety stayed with me for the rest of the day, even when coworkers came in. I did set the alarm at the end of the day (my heart rate shot right up...) and I've tried to tell myself that 'the worst thing' has happened and it ended up fine so I don't need to worry about it in the future.
It was a really interesting lesson for me in how when I'm even mildly anxious - when my 'lizard brain' is in control - my cognitive function is impaired. It doesn't take much to escalate from the lizard hovering in the corner to being behind the wheel, which is probably something I can work on. I'm generally an intelligent, logical person who likes solving problems but in that situation I lost it and couldn't think to pause for a moment and deal with the issue. I'm not generally anxious these days, but I can see how easily it would be to allow that part of my brain to take charge and then overeat, etc.3 -

@Steph1498 PB2 is the powdered peanut butter. it's amazing what you can substitute with it, especially in baking! https://pb2foods.com/
They sell it at health food stores, amazon, and our local Costco I think has even started stocking it. Great suggestions @conelywoods, I'll have to get some vanilla protein powder to try that out. Pumpkin spice..... yum! I only have chocolate powder in the cupboard at the moment but that could make for some great chocolate peanut butter smoothies.... I also have popcorn in the cupboard for afternoon cravings, 80 calories for 2 cups of the movie butter style, I reheat it in the microwave so I can pretend its fresh and savour every piece.
@Pearl4686 hope you get out of your rut! don't let it become a man-eating pothole like on the roads this time of year!

My hopes of a green month always get ruined. I had a great week so there is nothing I could have done differently. I think there is something hormonal that causes my weight to go up around the this week every month. I noticed last month that I have a high weigh in around this time every month (it's too early for PMS).🤷♀️1 -

You ARE having a green month - 3.2 pounds lost and one more week to go! Maybe you did not get green every single week, but as long as the final number at the end of the row is green, I'd say you're doing great. TOM can really mess with weight - for some people more than others. It is just a fact of life, like so many others, that drives us a bit crazy! Drink plenty of water, and sigh deeply. Hugs flying your way too It is so weird how much anxiety has grown after a year of going so few places outside the home. I also get really anxious when I go to places I used to go all the time, and my tolerance for new things is going to have to be re-grown. Stuffing down the anxiety with food is hugely tempting at those times, and you did great to keep it at bay. I feel sometimes like a little kid experiencing new things for the first time and finding them really scary - but remember that doing them a few times will build your confidence back again. A repertoire of breathing exercises really helps. You can beat it! Down, lizard, down! No driving for you!3 -
Oh yes, powdered peanut butter sounds completely amazing. It is now ON the shopping list.1

It really is very nice, the wind is a bit brisk though. Still need a sweater for a little while longer.
I went out on my lunch hour to get some sun. The loop around my neighborhood is the perfect distance, and the map Garmin makes is kind of satisfying.
