My parents were going to come over yesterday but they had a minor accident with their camper while taking it back to the storage facility and ended up not coming. So it ended up being a family day with my husband and the kids instead.
Today my neices are here for the day like every Monday. Unfortunately it's raining again so it looks like we won't be getting outside to burn off some of their energy =[ haha.
It's beyond time for me to start focusing on exercise and steps again. I've let that part of my journey go completely lax for the last couple of weeks. If I don't log exercise for every day this week someone kick me in the butt!!3 -
Check in for 5/23:

Calories - 1648. Ate some peanut butter crackers after my walk so I didn't have a dessert.

I am so pleased with my day yesterday. I feel more in control of my choices. I really do not like the times when I feel out of control with my food.
Instead of starting the day off with doing work around the condo like we always do, we decided to take an hour long walk on the beach this morning instead. What usually happens is that we work, work, work and don't get down to the beach because the day goes by. No more of that. I will stay up late to get everything done if I have to. At least I got my exercise in!
The beach is my happy place, and I don't get to come here and enjoy it much. Things have been pretty stressful lately, so this is well needed. I wish I could live here. I would walk on the beach every day! It refreshes my soul. The white, soft, sugar sand and the blue-green water of the Gulf of Mexico in Alabama makes me forget all of my worries and stresses. I feel very blessed.5 -
@rwood566
That is a very long walk. That is wonderful that you were able to cut some time off. Very well done!
@tazaria87
You'll get back to your routine. I have had the same problem for the last six weeks since my surgery. It's so easy to get off track and so hard to get back on.
@mszoueb
We need times like those where we can feel normal. I think it's important because we have to keep going. I think times like those help us keep going. At least you are more in control and you are "choosing" to eat those things. You did great!
@rlaskey2
We're at the beach, too! Enjoy! That's great that you didn't eat any junk. That can be hard while at the beach:)
@jimboden3
With your physical problems and having to attend banquets, that is tough. All you can do is the best you can do. You're still here and you're not giving up, so that is great! You are going to feel so good when you can start using your rower again.
@Poobah1972
Whoosh!!! That's great! Your hard work is paying off. That is wonderful that your fiance' walked with you and has lost as well!
Thanks @lindamtuck2018 , @rwood566 and @TheresaM787 And @lmf1012 oh, yes, their jerky is fantastic:)

Thatβs quite the loss! Well done!
@Tazaria87
Consider my foot ready to kick. With your focus I know you will be backing exercising with your usual determination.
@rwood566
Great job on the steps and cutting 2 minutes off your time!
@Z10Rtza
Nice loss! How has the search been going for the new dietitian?
@iradi8
Walking on the beach is both fun and great exercise. I get when you say the beach is your happy place. I think it is more the ocean than the beach with me. Keep up with the great food choices. Being away from home makes it harder to stay in control but you proved that it can be done. Great job!

Wow!!! Way to go to everyone who pledged steps ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
@iradi8
I LOVE THAT!! You felt more in control of your choices and you felt pleased with your day yesterday. That's a great idea, starting the day out with a walk on the beach before the day gets away from you. It sounds like a walk on the beach rejuvenated you. I hope you can make it part of your daily routine. It's a great habit, morning walk on the beach. Beautiful!
@Bluetail6
Nice steps π€©
@lmf1012
Way to go with those steps ππ»
@Z10Rtza
That's a terrific log of high step counts ππ»ππ»ππ» Way to go with your weekly loss πππ
@rwood566
That's a long walk! Very impressive ππ»ππ»ππ» Plus you shaved off 2 minutes ππ€π You're doing incredible Roger
@Tazaria87
I hope the accident wasn't serious. You're doing so well, with tracking, staying under, and drinking water. Plus taking care of your family and nieces. So, at your request, here is your friendly butt kick for tomorrow (giving you a premature butt kick, just in case I don't get to check messages tomorrow morning π).
@Poobah1972
Wowwww!!!! Congratulations on your huge loss AND six laps ππ»ππ»ππ» look at all of those steps paying off. That's so great that your fiancΓ© is walking with you and is also losing weight, supporting each other, so beautiful!
@lindamtuck2018
That's a terrific step day! Hopefully tonight you'll be able to go to bed on time and stay asleep. That park with the pond sounds lovely. Enjoy the visit with your grandchildren. π€©1 -
@jimboden3
It could be the swelling that caused the shift on the scale. Have you learned anything new about why there is swelling?
@littleflutterby
Terrific steps!!!
@Bluetail6
Way to stay consistent with the steps!! Safe travels!

Good Evening Everyone...
First Official Work out has just occurred. Holy sweat PiΓ±ata's!!! π°π¦
I probably won't be doing weight lifting updates to often in the future... It's just all so time consuming. But since it's the inaugural event... Why not? π
So Back day.... This entire week I suspect we will be about 15 minutes slower give or take as we figure out where we actually are in terms of capabilities. We had a major spill, I got silicone Lube on my hand multiple times as I touched the guide rale on the Lat Machine.... WE had to reset the weights on Dumbbells and the Lat machine mid set etc... Just stuff that should go smoother in the future.
So here it goes....
Incline Bench DB rows (weight listed is in both hands.. 120 pounds total)
60 x 10 - Decent form first 8
60 x 10 - Tuckering out.. First 5 good then quickly sputtered out
45 x 10 - Good form throughout. Good.. 50 next time.
Cable Lat Pulldowns
105 x 6 (To tough) dropped some weight 90 x 4 - Added Silicone Lub to Rail after set.
90 x 10 Lube worked; this was pretty easy this time.
100 x 10 Good form - 110 to start next week.
Low Cable seated Rows - This is hard because my belly doesn't allow much range of motion. Perhaps I should try less weight and rope attachment.
4 x 100 (to Tough) 6 x 90
90 x 10 Last few not so nice
90 x 10 Definitely not moving up.
Incline Bench Reverse Fly - Way harder than I expected
21.5 x 10 Probably only the first one was decent. Very quickly got worse
21.5 x 10 Again to much weight.
16.5 x 10 If my new DB set gets here, I should probably lower by 3lb and try that.
Barbell Shrugs - This was way harder than I thought.
My stomach gets in the way of barbell. lol, Plus my grip was having a hard time to boot.
105 x 6
105 x 5
90 x 5 - I'll stay here but probably do DB's at 55 next time (no belly in the way might make it easier).
And that's that. My fiancΓ© kicked butt, and was an amazing weight lifting partner. Even when I left literally puddles of sweat everywhere I went. Chest was soaked, head was soaked, back was soaked.
I'm blown away by the calorie burn.... The Heart rate monitor is pretty interesting to boot.
71 Zone Minutes weight lifting alone... I'm at 150 zone minutes on the day if you include this morning's Walk. Heck my calorie burn by midnight, might be darn close to 6000k. π²π
Regardless this was a resounding success. ππͺπ
Post workout meal... Mushroom Swiss (Double Cheese) burger with all the fixings. Tasted twice as good as normal, and I need a shower. lol
Peace out all! Sleep should come easy tonight. π€5 -
Doh, I believe I ate a Cat hair on my burger... Oopsie.2

I have a crazy week ahead of me, our usual eLearning schedule has different start and end times, each day is less than 90 minutes and starts earlier than we have done in 14 months. I was able to get in my ride, but at a slower speed. I wasn't able to get in my three mile walk, but was able to sneak in a two mile walk. No evening walks planned this week, because the kids need to go to bed really early.
Not very happy seeing three π, I need to try and figure out a way to work around this crazy schedule. I've gotten derailed in the past using my family as my main excuse for not exercising: "I'm too busy", "I need to get this done", "I'll start again next week.. oh wait, I have XYZ next week, I guess it will have to be the following week" the next thing I knew it was six years later.
I'm hoping my new habits will sustain me through this crazy week. I know I can at least control: getting in enough water, tracking everything and staying under. I just need to make sure to carve out time for at least the bike (it's only a half hour, compared to walking for a little more than an hour).

@iradi8 Thank you for sharing how you walked around the condo until you hit 10,000 steps ππ I was tired, didnβt get my usual exercise in. I was close to my 10,000 step goal, had 400 steps to go. Just didnβt want to move. When I looked at my steps, I saw that I had a 15-day streak. Me. If I didnβt walk just 400 steps, then Iβd be back to day one again. I heard you in my head. Thank you π€ I got out of bed and paced until I hit my goal. Hello Day 16!

Yay! I'm so glad to know that my sharing helped someone, namely you! Thanks for letting me know:)
By the way, I don't live here at the beach. I only get to visit:) If I did live here, I would be out there every day walking!2 -
Check in for 5/24:
Steps - 3987 no, I just got up and rounded. Up. Now it's 4018.thank you to whomever posted that before.
Calories - 1500. Had some fat free frozen yogurt.
Exercise - no. I was going to say I was waiting on my daughter to finish work then hit the gym, which I was, but I need to take the responsibility. Thank you, Theresa. I should have went walking, even in the heat. I will hit a long walk early in the morning since I won't have the car to hit the gym.
@BRGking welcome to the team. You'll enjoy it here.3 -
@lindamtuck2018 I think I may be a little OCD, but not tested and don't care. Also, the fear of going back where I started. Great motivation.
@ theresam787 the siren songs from those desserts is hard to withstand. Maybe slide the extra half piece into the trash while grabbing the apple? I have to remind myself about the history of the sirens. They want to cause the sailor (me, literally) to crash and drown.
@Aqualang26 excellent loss.
@Piqueaboo nice weight gain control while you're not home. You'll slide back down quickly. Do you skip like rocky in the movies yet?
Haha, yes, and I also listen to the Rocky and Creed soundtracks when I skip - It's so much fun.3 -

Good Tuesday Morning Buds! π
I'll be honest... I thought I would sleep good last night. Think again. less than 6 hours, sleep score of 61. It's just one of those morning where you get outside and do the work not because you want to, but because you need too.
But I got outside... So, WIN. About 1 minutes into my first lap the sky opened up and it started raining pretty good. Just long enough to get me and the ground good and wet, then it stopped. No complaints though, I did good, no real pain to speak of. Endorphins were kicking in.
It's clear, my feet, ankles and heels have acclimated somewhat to the new regime. Pretty sure my legs are generally pretty acclimated to climbing that hill. Just the Knee's need a little help. Hopefully in time, they will improve and I will be able to lose the braces.
I'm now less then 10 pounds away being able to use the Elliptical naked and still remain within its operating capacity. Of course, If I'm going to elliptical with clothes on, I may have to wait another week or so. lol π
It's my intention to use it and hope that it's less damaging to my ole knee knockers... But at the same time, I've read that ellipticals can be hard on the front of the knees... Which is where mine seem to have issues, so I guess we will find out eventually. π
Ketones and blood sugar remain pretty decent today. π
Blood Ketones 1.9
Blood Glucose 104
GKI 3.04
Other than that, seems the effects of yesterday's workout have yet to make themselves known. I just kind of feel week in the shoulders and upper back, but the pain will come I'm assuming over the next 36 hours. Which is a good sign of course.
I need more sleep, can't have it. Got a get my *kitten* to work.
Have a great day Everyone! π
