I am reading WALKING ON HIDDEN WINGS by Rachel Scott McDaniel. It is set in the 1920s and about a woman, her plane, and her husband that was supposed to be dead. It is really good. I haven't had a lot of time to even listen to books because of so many people here to help.0
-
Same stuff as before.0
-
A few of the last books read:
THE COWBOY WHO CAME HOME by Liz Isaacson (rom)
UNFORGIVEN by Shelley Shepard Gray (Amish)
THE RANCHER'S TEXAS TWINS by Allie Pleiter (LI)
HIDDEN IN THE NIGHT by Elizabeth Goddard (susp)
THE ROAD BEFORE ME by Janine Rosche (3 time lines) - Rt 66 travel

I finished by missionary bio. I'll have to wait for July to get another one from Hoopla, I keep running out of uses (we can borrow just five books). I am listening from the book with 12 missionary stories, not as good, but still enjoyable.
I am re-reading THE SONGKEEPER, fantasy.
I am reading a Lisa Phillip's FALLOUT series, a three book box set.
I'm also reading the Cyber Security series by Vanetta Chapman. She gave away a four-books-in-one the other day. I wasn't aware it contained the actual books that I already had! It's much easier going through the 4-in-1!

I'm currently reading a collection of marriage of convenience books: CONVENIENTLY WED: six novels in one. The authors are: Lacy Williams, Misty M. Beller, Linda Ford, Shanna Hatfield, Blossom Turner and Lena Nelson Dooley. I finished the first one (THE WRANGLER'S INCONVENIENT WIFE by Lacy Williams) and have started on the second. I've actually already read that one (THE LADY AND THE MOUNTAIN MAN by Misty M. Beller), but I remember enjoying it, so I'm currently re-reading it.
I also just downloaded the final book (book 8) in the Christy Barritt True Crime Junkies series: MOST LIKELY TO DIE. I'll probably read one or two more in the anthology and take a break to read MOST LIKELY TO DIE.0 -
I downloaded the first book in that Christy Barritt series. Did you like the ones you read, Cindy? I started the first one but can't remember why I didn't finish it!0
-
I am currebtly reading book 2 in the True Crime Junkies series. I am enjoying it. I have been listening through hoopla a lot more than kindle this month.
Listening to the anthology We Three Kings. I finished book one and started on book 2.
We Three Kings
STAR OF WONDER by Crystal Caudill (historical)
BEAUTY BRIGHT by Cara Putman (WW2)
Perfect light by Angela Ruth Strong (cont)

I re-started book 1 in the True Crime Junkies Series, Connie. I didn't get very far the first time and am beyond that this second time.
I am listening in the 7 Missionary Biographies book, this one about William Carey. Sometimes it's hard to follow. It's just amazing to me how dedicated these missionaries are to the call God has given them.
I'm on the second story in the series by Lisa Harris, a dystopian story about a town without any power and how they are surviving when outsiders are becoming violent, stealing and killing.
I'm on the third book in the Cyber stories I'm reading by Vanetta Chapman. Pretty good. SECURITY BREACH.
re-reading and almost done with SONGKEEPER, the second book in the series by this name. SONG OF LEIRA is the third book which I'll get to shortly.
I started another re-read last night called STORM SIREN. It has been quite awhile since I read this one and I'm not real sure about a couple things at the beginning, but it's nothing too icky.0 -
I read the Lisa Harris series.
I finished SHOW ME BETRAYAL by Ellen E Withers (susp) Carol finalist KU. It was very good. I understand how it was an award finalist.
I am getting ready to start
IN PERFECT TIME by Sarah Sundin (WW2).0 -
I'm sorry it took me so long to respond, Kim. Yes, I'm enjoying the True Crime Junkies series by Christy Barritt.
I've read the first two stories in CONVENIENTLY WED: SIX STORIES IN ONE anthology. I get sidetracked because after each of the first two there's been an except of the next book in that story's series. (So, I've been downloading that next book and reading it before going on to the next story in the anthology.)
I also just downloaded SHOW ME BETRAYAL by Ellen E. Withers. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, Connie.0 -
Well, I am totally between books right now. I really enjoyed the Sarah Sundin book. A great way to end the month.0
-
I'm still working on the ones I mentioned before. I'm enjoying the first book in the True Crime Series. I'm on book four in the Lisa Harris series and book three in the Cyber Division series by Vanetta Chapman.
Woohoo, 1st of the month I can download some more missionary bios from Hoopla!0 -
I started another missionary story about DARLENE DEIBLER ROSE. She married her missionary husband when she was 20. They worked in the different areas around New Guinea. She was a go-getter and wanted to get to her mission station sooner rather than later. I haven't gotten very far into it, but at some point, during WWII she is captured and sent to a Japanese prison camp.
I downloaded an audiobook from Hoopla called AUSCHWITZ LULLABY. It's about a German Nurse married to a Romanie man. Hitler is arresting the Romanians and throwing them into the camps. Refusing to leave her husband and children she goes with them. Being a German, and a nurse, they force her to care for the children in Dr. Mengele's hospital. I think this is going to be quite intense!0 -
I ended up buying the e-book of Auschwitz Lullaby, it was just $2.99.
Still working on the Deibler story, so far it is very good. She is a prisoner of the Japanese right now.
I'm almost finished with the first book in the Christy Barritt True Crime Series. It hasn't been as creepy as I thought it would be.
I'm on the third and last book in the dystopian series by Lisa Harris. All of them have been very good.
I started and finished a novella, a prequel to a story I had already read - STONE HEARTS AND THE ELVES. Just a sweet romantic tale.
I need to get back into SECURITY BREACH, a three book series by Vanetta Chapman. I'm on book two of that series.0 -
I've read a couple more stories from CONVENIENTLY WED: SIX NOVELS IN ONE: COWBOY GROOM by Linda Ford and AUNDRY by Shanna Hatfield. I'm getting a little tired of reading stories set in the late 1800s, so I might switch to something else before I go on to the next two.0
-
I finished books 1-3 in the Lisa Harris series I've been reading, and I'm really enjoying it. I downloaded 4-6 from KU. Each story is different, the same people are there but different ones are highlighted in each story. There is one big issue that they all have to face - why did the grid go down? And each story takes you a little bit closer to the answer.
I am almost finished with JUST THE NICEST PERSON. I just have to find out whodunit!
I started a new one last night, VIRGINIA COMPANY BRIDE by Gabrielle Meyers.
I won an audio book from a series that I have, but not the audios to and I've read some of the books a couple of times, but I was so excited to win something, so I started it last night. It's a fantasy that begins with a missionary couple in South America!
Still listening to EVIDENCE NOT SEEN by Darlene Deibler Rose, a missionary to New Guinea. This is sad and sometimes even gross as they try to live through being in a Japanese prison camp.

I am listening to WHAT WE HIDE by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker. I'm about 20% though it and it is very good. I am reading SHADOW OF HOPE by Susan Sleeman (she is still in hospital, then on to rehab due to back surgery and all of the complications prior to surgery).0
-
Thanks for the updates on Susan Sleeman. I've really enjoyed her books. Praise the Lord she is on her way to recovering completely! That's my prayer and hope.
I'm reading a good book called LIGHT-BRINGER. It's kind of like an allegory. There is light and there is dark. There are dark towns and there are light towns. The dark towns are so dark that they can't see that the people are covered in mud and their towns are falling apart. They also can't see colors and have no idea what colors are. It's been really good so far.
I'm on the last story in SECURITY BREACH by Vanetta Chapman, and book four in the dystopian-type series by Lisa Harris. Having some trouble staying into this one because much of it takes place somewhere other than the city the others took place in.
I'm listening to the first book in the MILANA series, a fantasy, about six teens who have to save this world! I've read the first book twice! Listening to it has been really good. I believe it's an Aussie who is doing the reading.

I have finished a couple LIS books, and THE SUMMER OF YES by Courtney Walsh. I rated it 4*, but I really think that was too generous. Her books are okay, but I really don't understand how they are considered Christian fiction...and they have so much potential for Christian life emphasis! Oh well. On to something new.0
-
I finished the SUSANNA WESLEY biography I was listening too. The reader was strange and spoke very quickly, but she also gave a feeling like it really was Susanna Wesley sharing her story. A very strong woman.
I finished the SECURITY BREACH series by Vanetta Chapman. There is just suspense in it, no romance. Not a big Christian theme, but as trouble draws near the main character begins to think more about her lost relationship with Christ.
I'm still working on the fourth book in the FALLOUT SERIES by Lisa Harris. I'm not into this one so it's taking me a lot of time to get through it.
I finished VIRGINIA COMPANY BRIDE by Gabrielle Meyers. It was pretty good. It takes place with the Virginia Colony and many of the characters were true people who founded that colony. In her story the main characters was the only woman in the fort, and the guy who was given charge of watching out for her didn't want her there - but of course he falls in love with her.
I finished LIGHT-BRINGER by Christina Shaw. Wow, this was totally Christian fiction. I think it's an allegory between the unsaved and the saved. The unsaved live in a world of darkness, mud, and ruin; the saved live in a world of light and goodness. There are some who have the light and are trying to reach out to those in the dark, but they cover up their light so as not to offend or make those in the dark uncomfortable with the light. Alethia's mother would look at a candle and say that it wasn't the real light. When Alethia found the true light she wanted to go to her mother and tell her about it, but it might cost her her life to do it. I did have trouble with the ending. People who didn't walk the narrow way, who didn't trust the Light-Bringer were able to make it into His Kingdom and they were uncomfortable when they got there. That isn't how heaven is going to be, but overall I really liked this story.
I started Operation Javelin last night, so far so good.

I finished AN ACCIDENTAL MISSIONARY by Marilyn Felhause. An Ethiopian Man becomes a missionary in America, after a harrowing time in Ethiopia and Sudan.
I skipped ahead in book 4 of the FALLOUT SERIES, just couldn't get into it. I finished it and will go on to the 5th book.
I finished SECURITY BREACH series by Vanetta Chapman. Cyber terrorists.
I did finish JUST THE NICEST PERSON by Christy Barritt. It took me awhile, but I did enjoy it. I have book two downloaded.
I am almost done with my re-read of the Milana series by Anna Travis, a fantasy with a Christian (very mild) message.
I finished A SPLINTERED LAND by Deborah Grace White, fantasy.
I finished PRINCESS AND THE PEA by KM Shea, fantasy.
I started listening to THE NIGHTMARE VIRUS by Nadine Brandes last night on Hoopla. So far it's quite good. A virus has taken over the world that sends people into a nightmare each night; the first night for one hour, then you wake for 23. Each night you add an hour to your nightmare and less time awake. Eventually you die - or, you can find your way into the Colliseum!
I have QUEEN OF HEARTS by Heather Day Gilbert that I want to start soon. It's a psychological thriller.

I finished MARIAN AND THE ELF, a fantasy series. I've been reading it off and on but couldn't put it down last night. Yawn!0
-
I have been working on the series created by Susan May Warren & Lisa Phillips. Its funny, but Susan May Warren's is my least favorite so far. They all start with "Flash". There are 3 out so far and more due soon.
Chasing Fire: Montana
FLASH POINT by Susan May Warren (susp)
FLASHOVER by Megan Besing (susp)
FLASHBACK by Michelle Sass Aleckson (susp)
I am now working on Susan May Warren's new Alaska series. I just finished book one and am getting ready to start book 2.
Alaska Air One Rescue
ONE LAST SHOT by Susan May Warren
ONE LAST CHANCE by Susan May Warren

I used to really enjoy Susan Warren, but in more books than not, the main character was angry with God and had given up on Him. I just gave up on her.
I finished my re-read of the MALANIA series, a fantasy with a set of missionary teenagers that end up in a whole new world!
I am almost finished with a missionary bio OPEN EYED MISSIONARY. It begins with the father and how he came to know the Lord and then led his family to live for the Lord. When he passes his son takes up the torch and ends up in America reaching out to Muslims here.
I'm about 3/4 of the way through NIGHTMARE VIRUS by Nadine Brandes. It's pretty good. Not the blockbuster that I thought it would be, but it just keeps you guessing.

I just finished:
THE WOMEN OF WYNTON’S by Donna Mumma (1950's) - I wanted to love this book, but I didn't. I had a hard time keeping the characters straight. That might of been because I was listening and doing "stuff". Anyway, it was good...just not great. About women in the retail industry in the 1950s.
HIDDEN AWAY by Sharon Dunn (LIS)
IDENTITY UNKNOWN by Terri Reed (LIS)

I'm reading OVERFLOWING FAITH. It's about Lettie Cowman who wrote Streams in the Desert and Streams in the Valley.
I'm on book 5 in the FALLOUT SERIES by Lisa Harris. This is an easy series to read, I rarely make it through entire series, but this is a continuing story. Book 5 is much easier for me to read than book 4 was.
I finished NIGHTMARE VIRUS by Nadine Brandes. Really good. A virus is released on the world and each night you disappear into a nightmare world, beginning with one hour, awake 23 hours; and each night an hour is added to the nightmare. Time passes more quickly in the nightmare so you could be one day in it rather than the single hour in awake time. It's basically a light vrs darkness story. There was one spot that bothered me a little bit, when the main guy was using Jesus' time in the Garden to excuse his doubts and fears. You know what I believe about that so I won't go into it, but that just bothers me. Jesus only ever gave us a life lived without sin and total faith and trust in God the Father - that is our example.

Finished:
NEVER HAPPEN TO YOU by Christy Barritt (true crime junkies) - I am enjoying this series, but haven't been using kindle books too often because there are so many audio books that I am listening to. I do like the new way Text-to-Voice works on kindles. It works just as well on my Samsung phone or Lenovo and LG tablets as on my fire.
I started on the The Wright Heroes of Maine
RUNNING TO YOU by Robin Patchen (suspense) youtube
RESCUING YOU by Robin Patchen (susp) - These are really good. I think they are also available on KU, but listening on YouTube is just easier. I will be going to the next one after a break from suspense for a book or two.
Oath of Honor
STEELE by Laura Scott (susp)
RAELYN by Laura Scott (susp)
GRAYSON by Laura Scott (susp)
ROSCOE by Laura Scott (susp) - I have been listening to this series on Everand. They limit you after so many of the same type book. I have to wait a couple more days before I can read the next one.
BRYNN AND SEBASTIAN HATE EACH OTHER by Bethany Turner (romcom)
COLE AND LAILA ARE JUST FRIENDS by Bethany Turner (romcom)
A FAMILY FOR EASTER by Lee Tobin McClain (LI) - These were my break from suspense.

I'm reading ROSE OF THE DAY by Brittany Fichter, the third and final book in this fantasy series.
I'm also reading MISSIONARY WARRIOR by Lettie Cowman. Lettie wrote STREAMS IN THE DESSERT (I've finished her bio), and this is about her husband. I finished A HEART FOR IMBABURA by Charles Shepson, another missioanry bio.
I'm reading WORMWOOD ABBEY, a fantasy.
I finished: THE ROOT OF THE MATTER by Lynne Tagawa, a time-travel story; AND THEN LOVE by Leenie Brown, a regency with a touch of Pride and Prejudice characters mixed in.0 -
I have been reading an anthology of romances. It had full size books by several authors that I like, so checkesd it out. When I looked at the list i had read 2 of the 5, but I'm enjoying the other 3.
SECONDHAND COWBOY by Lacy Williams (rom)
CHRISTMAS WITH THE COWGIRL by Natalie Dean (rom)
TEN RULES FOR MARRYING A COWBOY by Linda Goodnight (rom)

I finished the missionary bio I was reading - I need to find another! I really enjoy these.
Still working on the other stuff.0
