Kim, I hadn't thought about AI making an algorithm based on a person's preferences. That's an interesting thought, I obviously have a lot to learn. I don't see things getting better in our world, though.
Today begins what looks to be a week-long heat wave - mid 90s most days. That's unusual for eastern TN, at least this early in the summer. No outside walks, but I'll be fine as long as my air conditioning keeps working. I water my four tomato plants in the early evening, and the last few days, I encounter the most irritating gnats! I come in and want to scratch all over, especially my head.
Your pixel & nonogram games look fun, Kim. I enjoy landscape scenes, and I've found a few games that do a good job with those. And I've never had a problem with more than one cell at a time filling in unless I choose that option. Can't remember all the names of these games, but Happy Color and Paint by Number are two of my favorites.
Connie, I hope you get to church tomorrow. We rotate pianists, but two regulars are out for the summer, so I'm playing more right now. Have a blessed Sunday, everyone.

I really like doing jigsaw puzzles as well. I have Magic Jigsaw Puzzles which I've had for 11 years and really like their set up with the pieces on the side. I can use a small picture to refer to or I can make the background the picture I am trying to work so filling in is easier. I usually start with the small picture and when I can't get it figured out I go to the background picture. You can choose the number of pieces and even the shape of the pieces. It's really relaxing.
AI is amazing, BUT, it's scary too - what it could become. People will be turning to AI instead of the Word of God to find answers. Instead of seeking out a Church to find Jesus, or someone they know is a Christian, they will just ask AI - how do I find Jesus? Who knows what answer it will give! I usually read the AI answer to a medical question I ask my computer and often find the same answer in another site lower down. But it does take from several sites and gives me an overall picture, but who knows if those answers are right because there are a lot of bogus sites out there!
I did get a referral to a rheumatologist. The doctor has it. I looked her up and it looks like she is really good and cares about what her patients have to say. I hope that she agrees to see me! She is right next door to the nursing home that Mom had stayed in. It's about and hour and 15 minutes away, but worth it if she will see me. She is also part of the hospital system that we really like.
Not much else with me. Like you, Carole, we are expecting high temps this week (at least). It's already 85!
Down to 232 this morning. I've lost 8 lbs in the last six to eight weeks, which is unheard of for me! Especially since I don't do much exercising right now. I would love to get outside and do some walking, but it's just too hot and humid. I need to motivate myself to do my house walking every day!
Love y'all.

To me that is rather scary. If people learn to rely on AI for spiritual answers instead of going to the Bible…how easy they could be led astray if (or when) AI goes away from truly Biblical answers. Know your Bible and don't trust just anyone or anything! Speaking to the choir here....

You are so right! It has to be biblical no matter who it is! 🎶

Today the girls were here and we were talking and I looked out up and outside the back door and there was a deer there eating crab-apples off of the ground and our tree. We all went to the door and one of the girls had her phone in her hand. She got pictures through the blinds. We live in the city limits of Kansas City, Kansas just off a busy street and in a good sized subdivision. We do have woods in our back yard, but have rarely seen any type of wildlife. This was a thrill. I have them on my phone, so I will see if the application is working better than it was earlier. I will post pictures (through the blinds) if possible. These open for me, but I don't know if they will for you or not. I wasn't able to download as photos, so just did as attachment. Even my computer is being weird.

They opened for me. That was very close! What a treat. She was looking right at you in that second one.
We get a lot of wildlife through here - not always that close. Although Dave did snap a picture that delighted me. He said there were four of them - but when he opened the deck door to shoo them away (so they wouldn't leave any 'presents" on the deck), all but one flew down to the ground before he thought to snap a picture.

That's a good sized turkey!
Angie also got a video of her pulling crab-apples out of the tree, but it didn't turn out as good as I hoped, plus I was talking to one of the girls not knowing that Angie was doing a video. She was about 6 feet from the door. We were afraid to pull up the blinds because we were afraid it would scare her. The girls really got a kick out of it. We were sitting on the couch and I saw her out the sun-room doors, and I just got up and walked in the sunroom, mid conversation….said, a deer.
Most of my friends that have deer in their area aren't crazy about them because they eat their flowers. I haven't had an issue with my 3 hydrangeas, and she can eat all of the crab-apples that she wants. That tree's limbs are so full that they are hanging down. Last year there weren't any and the apple tree had one apple. This year it is full, too.

How beautiful, and so close! There is a nature preserve right behind our property and part of our property is woods as well. I think that turkeys and deer and the animals we see the most, although we haven't seen the turkey's since last year. We had a fawn that slept in the side yard last year and then this year we saw a doe - maybe she was our fawn! Of course we also get chickens in the yard now and again. They pretty much stay in their hutch during this bad heat wave so I haven't seen much of them lately. I'm glad I haven't seen the bear! Oh, when we lived in TN, our German Shepard started barking so I went to look at what was out there he didn't like - it looked like a baby bear running back up the hill, unless it was a giant black hedgehog! LOL! Love seeing those pictures!

The results of my CT scan were that the nodes were stable, which I think means that they aren't inflamed and look like my last CT scan. My NP sent a referral to a pulmonologist. Still no response from the rheumatologist. I called today to ask when I can expect to hear back from them and am just leaving that in the hands of the Lord from now on. If He wants me to see a rheumatologist then they will call me, otherwise, I'm done messing with it.
I lost some more weight, which is a bit concerning to me, I've never lost this quickly. 230.4 down to 229.8, half a pound. This week I've lost 1.5 lbs which would normally take me a month to lose - and I'm not even trying! Ugh. God knows why. I'm excited to be going down in weight, I just don't know what is causing it - time to do some research!
Love y'all.

Well, since I wrote my last post I realized that the girl I talked to about the CT scan said nodule, not node. I hope she meant node, but just misspoke. If it is nodule then I am surprised because I didn't know I had one and if it's stable that means they had another scan that they could refer back to to know that it's stable. It is probably from the RA or the multiple bouts of pneumonia and will likely disappear. The chances of having one at my age are fairly good, they aren't uncommon. I sent a note to my NP asking about it and hopefully she will tell me that she meant nodes, but she did mention my lower right lung where all of the pneumonias had been, so it's likely she did mean nodule. Please pray it's some benign thing and will disappear on it's own. Thank you, Kim

Follow up: I got a call from my NP's office and I have a televisit with her on the 8th so she can explain what the CT scan showed. I also got a call from a Rheumatologist's office in Pine Knoll Shores which is very close to being on the Ocean - about an hour from us. I didn't even know they got a referral from my ortho doctor. Anyway, I have an appt for the 22nd of this month - wow, I was expecting to have to wait for six months! Praise the Lord.

Sounds like questions are about to be answered!
Hope that everyone is having a great 4th of July. It is going to just be another day, except for hearing all of the fireworks.0 -
Same with us, Connie. We didn't do much on the fourth. The ribs that Wade thought we might do on the fourth are in the crock pot now. We watch a guy called AB on YouTube, and he had a good recipe for crockpot ribs and they looked scrumptious! Can't wait - they won't be ready until dinner tonight, so yogurt and apple and granola for lunch.
We were expecting a bit of bad weather yesterday, but the tropical storm split around us, some going inland and the rest staying off-shore. We did get some good downpours, but no real wind or lightening. Praise the Lord! We did both services on Zoom because we didn't know what we would get. Really enjoy in-person but am thankful that if we can't meet together face to face, we can meet together on Zoom!

It's gray here today. Rain threatening, but nothing happening. Dave left this morning for the first city on his 5-city tour. This is his 4th year on the tour (and the 2nd where he's done all five cities for both groups, which means 100 days out between now and the end of November). I was up with him at 5:30 this morning, then went back to sleep. Other than vacuuming the pool, I don't have much planned for today.

I hope you plan on jumping in when you are done! Phew, hot here!

It is unseasonably cool here today. It was maybe 65 when I was vacuuming. Now it's up to 69. No swimming today. But I did pick some black rasperries. I had them on oatmeal for brunch and I'm thinking about making a dutch baby pancake with berries for dinner. 😋

I forgot to post this the other day. We looked out the front window and there was a deer lying down in the front yard. That's so unusual that Dave thought maybe she was injured. After 10 minutes or so, he went out with some carrots and an apple. When he got halfway to her, she got up and ran off, so she must've just been resting

Oh wow, I just love watching the deer! She must have felt safe enough to rest like that! Beautiful.
I was looking at some of the Amazon Prime Day deals and they aren't that great. You find an occasional 40-50% off, but that's on a price higher than what they regularly offer it for. We put some of the things that we are needing on there and none of them was that great of a price. Boo-hoo!
Cindy, our blackberry bush went crazy this year, we've been able to get quite a lot of berries and it is still producing! The blueberries, not so much! Wade is going to try and get some cuttings off of the blackberry. It will probably be two or three years before they produce, but hopefully they will produce as well as Mama bush has been! LOL!
Love y'all.

Our wild blackberry bushes don't produce fruit until later in the summer. I see the one patch doesn't look very full. I'm hoping I'll discover other, new ones along the driveway

The deer we saw the other day has been back at least two more times. My neighbor saw her one day then I saw her the next day. She pretty much had eaten all of the crab apples at her level. I picked several and threw them on the ground, but then the yards guys were in the subdivision all day today. I'm sure the mower got to them before the deer.

What a bummer! on the the blackberries and the apples. I bet the deer went and told her friends she'd found a really good yard! Our pastor, when we saw that the turkeys were coming onto his property put out dry corn for them. The deer liked it too! We had three Ibis in our front yard the other day. I tried to take some pictures but they didn't come out, I did get some good pictures or our screen! I hope that you find those extra blackberries! How did your Dutch Pancake taste?

I've made two... one for brunch one day; the other for dinner the next day. So delicious! 😋 (The first one was raspberry/black raspberry/mulberry. The one pictured was blueberry/ black raspberry.)

Wow, that looks delicious! and how pretty on that plate!
I went out with Wade today. Usually I say no because I just don't feel up to it, but even though I was pretty tired, I agreed. We went to Walmart and I actually went in with him! My pain was minimal today, but I had to go slow or my breathing got more difficult. Woohoo, steps! We went to Smithfield BBQ for lunch and had fried chicken. We were talking about it yesterday and wondering when the last time was we had any - quite awhile. I ate a thigh and my fries and brought home the leg and hush puppies. The coleslaw wasn't very good, some peppers I think had been chopped up in it, neither Wade nor I liked it, but everything else was great! If we go there again, we are going to share a plate because he just got too full eating his plate and I couldn't eat all of mine. The chicken was dee-li-cious!

That does look good, Cindy.
I spent the morning getting my mom to the dentist. Her jaw was swollen on Monday when I went to see her. I had the nurse check to make sure it was dental and not medical. She wasn't having pain, thank the Lord. Anyway the soonest I could get her in was today and they had to pull 2 teeth. Thank goodness Angela was able to sit with her dad.
Another walk missed. I may see if it cools off and take one late this evening.

Oh no, how is mom doing now? I can't believe she wasn't in pain, what a blessing!
We had a doozy of a thunder storm last night. The lightening seemed to come one after the other in quick succession, and the thunder just rolled; then there were the downpours of rain. It didn't last but an hour or two. The power flashed off and on twice and one of those times my adjustable bed unadjusted and went flat! Easy fix! Praise the Lord it didn't go out longer. We weathered the storm just fine! God is good!
Love y'all.

Years ago, I had some swelling related to an abscess and never experienced pain. I pray that your mom is recovering nicely, Connie.
My daughter is such a blessing! Thanks to a tag-team effort by deer and raccoon/opossum, all that's left of the four tomatoes she planted in May are barren stems. Deer enjoyed the leaves & branches, while some other critter feasted on all tomatoes, ripe and green. When Beth saw them this afternoon, she immediately left to see what she could find at a nursery, coming back with new plants (cheap due to end of season) and some potential remedies to keep them safe - none of which I had heard of. One remedy was capsules filled with coyote urine. Another was an inflatable snake. Then we mixed garlic powder and black pepper to spread around plants. Time will tell if any of this helps.
Have a blessed Sunday, everyone.

Thanks for asking about Mom. I don't think even pulling the tooth really hurt her. She had eaten a sandwich (made from a roll and the meat from her meal) Friday for lunch, then at a big bowl of peaches. The swelling is gone and she looks good. I was so worried that her phone wasn't working after the mess, that I went on a day that I usually don't go, so I could get to the bottom of the phone malfunction. When I tried to use it, it said there was a sim card error. That worried me enough that I almost called the cell company, but decided to turn off for a couple minutes and turn it back on….works great, now.
Carole - hopefully all of the "remedies" will work in your garden, and it wasn't too late for your plants. Our resident deer was in the front yard the other day. Luckily what she likes of ours is something that won't be used, anyway. Hopefully she stays away from the neighbor's flowers and keeps enjoying our crab-apples. There are still tons of them. We have been picking the higher ones and throwing them on the ground for critters to enjoy.

It's been two days and my tomatoes are still going strong! This morning, I was standing at my kitchen window that overlooks the backyard and saw a critter searching for food in the grass. Not sure what it was, I looked up pictures of groundhog, oppossum, and hedgehog - and I believe it's a groundhog. A groundhog has lived under my little storage building for 2-3 years, so I doubt that's what got the tomatoes. But time will tell.
I love the crab-apple idea, Connie. It would be great to supply something for the animals that I wouldn't use.
Yesterday's sermon dealt with prayer, and our pastor read some excerpts from his mother's prayer journal. I wondered if any of you kept a prayer journal. It's something I've always wanted to do in my heart, but never been able to keep it up.

I'm the same as you, Carole, I start one but then don't keep up with it. Our Church family is small enough that I just pray for everyone, especially those who have major issues. It's remembering to pray for their family members who aren't with us here that's the trouble. And we all know how my memory is! The deer left our blueberries alone, but we did put netting around the blackberries. They are pretty much spent, but now the figs are ripening. I don't like figs, so I leave those for Wade and whoever else wants any. The birds like them too! I think Marigolds are supposed to keep the deer away. Mom had marigolds growing everywhere in her gardens and didn't ever have trouble with critters other than moles and voles - but Juicy Fruit Gum took care of them!
Your Mom sounds awesome, Connie. Just keeps moving along! So glad that she is healing well.
We had a wonderful service yesterday morning and then a meal together afterwards, just great fellowship. We did do on-line services in the evening though. Wade is going to make me a Reuben Sandwich for dinner tonight - yeehaw!
Love y'all.

As I was leaving my class tonight I noticed this... I'm surprised I never have before.
