bittersweet nsv. my 32 year old daughter hugged me yesterday. then she said she needed to write a facebook post saying that for the first time in her life she hugged me and was able to go all the way around. while that says a lot for my weight loss, it also says a lot about my extended time being very obese. on my walk today i kept thinking about that and how much time i took from my family because of it.5

Oh man that elliptical is a workout! It obviously hits different muscles than walking cuz the outer part of my thigh into my booty is sore! I made it 30mins and was sweating so much more than the treadmill haha. It also gave me more steps than I was expecting. I figured it would be lower steps than walking but 30mins gave me almost 5000 steps.
Today I'm doing a bit of grocery shopping and I need to buy fireworks later when my dad gets off work. Tomorrow we get to use a friend's pool so I'm super excited about that. The kids don't have swim lessons this week because of the holiday so I'm going to try and work on what they've been learning.4 -

Pleased with my weigh in today. I am inching closer to onderland so that makes me happy.
The rest yesterday did me good but I may have overdone it today. I have faithfully done my physio exercises since my visit on Wednesday and the therapist show me a position where I lie on the floor with my legs over the seat of a chair that helps relieve some of the pain. It’s an interesting way to watch tv. Anyways, I am trying to be positive! I am hoping the massage therapist and physiotherapist can help keep me active while lowering the pain level. I am a pretty strong lady!

That is such a sweet NSV! Don’t look at the time you took away from your family but the added time you are giving them by losing the weight.7/1

Way to go! You put that elliptical to work right away. I just got back from swimming with my granddaughter. It is so much fun swimming with them when they are young. I taught both my grandkids how to swim so I am sure you will have lots of fun helping them to work on their skills.

I know I'm terrible... Haven't been around. Probably cause I'm not a phone guy, and I don't sit on the computer when I'm not at work. lol
Anyway... Here's my daily updates.
The Morning...
Morning everyone.... I wasn't going to do any cardio today.. Then walked past the exercise room and some how ended up on the elliptical. Not sure how that happened. 😋
Just a 15 minute burn though,. Saving myself for legs. 😆👍
And the evening from moments ago...

I could lie and say I was really busy, but that's not my style. I had a lazy day. Poked around on the internet looking at what I think might be the perfect set of adjustable dumbbells for my fiancé. 5lb - 50lb set comes in Red her favorite colour and is the fastest to adjust of all Dumbbells. Google Nuobell 50lb Red Dumbbells (only downside is it's a bit pricey) The other bright side of these dumbbells is the Magnetic Playmate addon weights will work with these meaning she could go from 5LB's all the way up to 55LB in 2.5lb Increments.... Watched way to many reviews on them. Almost bought them, then I remembered how much money I've already spent. lol 😐🤔😅
Caught a show with my brother. Did some more dishes (damn dishwasher). And I slept for a whole 2 hours in the middle of the afternoon.
However, at 4pm guess what time it was? It was time to strap on my knee braces and attempt to utterly destroy my Legs!!! 😮😢😋😆
I can't honestly say I'm not one of those "love leg day" people. You people that are, are just Crazy, Masochists or maybe a Dentists. It brings me to the literal edge every single time. The utter exertion as I struggle to pull enough oxygen in my lungs, as I want to quit but just keep pushing for one more rep.... It's just boggles my mind, and leaves a foreboding feeling in my stomach as leg day approaches.
Now it's not all bad, the feeling above really only applies to squats or deadlifts... So, the first exercise of the day... But then the second exercise of the day, LEG EXTENSIONS I put myself through actual PAIN. Due to the build up of that hard tyoe of fat in my lower legs, the shin pad gouges a huge dent in my legs. Both my shins are still in intense pain from about 2 hours ago, and this pain takes 5-6 days to almost go away, and on the 7th day I get to do it all over again. So again, not a huge fan of leg day. lol 😬
Anyway, there is good aspect to leg day though.... WHAT DON"T KILL YA, WILL MAKE YOU STRONGER!!! And man oh man did I do good today. 💪😈😃😁
So last week if you recall I only managed 6, 5 and 6 reps at 210 pounds. This week my warm up at 160 was much easier and I did more reps just cause, and then I nailed 3 sets of 210lb for 10 reps each... Even on the final set. Felt like my heart might explode, but at the same time you know you just accomplished something serious. (no choice but to move up to 230 next week). 💪😈 😎
I won't bore with you the rest, But I'm pushing 3 x 130-pound x 12 Leg extensions with surprisingly good form. 3 x 90lb x 12 Leg curls again with explosive power, 2 x 180lb x 15 Should shrugs all of which are going up next week. (Oh and lets not forget calf raises...😐)
As for Lynn she was a Super Trooper... She's now using the Black Beauty bar we unveiled early in the week, and is squatting with it like a pro. It's still early days, but she's coming along very nicely, worked 3 sets of 12 or more, when our target range is only 6-10. So, she's now considering moving up to 60 pounds across her shoulders, or staying where she is and squatting down to 12" bum to floor. Either way, she's all warrior and I love her to pieces. 🙂
So other than completely Destroying the Deadlift today, and generally smashing the entire workout. What else do I have to show the workout?
How's over 1200 calories burned. OH YEAH.... Huh-Huh Oh yeah!!!! 😄😃💪😎😋😄👍🤓

It's late, I'm tired haha. 5 of the last 7 days with all 4 kids in my house all day. Today might be the last day. My parents got back from vacation just a couple hours ago. Not sure if my mom will be up to watching them tomorrow or if she will be too tired from driving all day today. Yesterday I got a few thousand steps from doing laundry/housework and then went outside and did the edging and mowing.
When my brother got back from work today he helped us get the elliptical into the basement so that was fantastic. We need to put the arm back on it and then I'm using it tonight if I can find the energy haha.
Look at those goals - five out of five 👏🏻👏🏻 Including over 9,000 steps!! Congrats getting the elliptical into the basement 😆 You've been a busy momma!

Thank you I've been trying to get my steps up and thank you for the great advice 🤗 Yes, the 250 steps each time the timer goes off, is a lot harder than I thought. In my head, it should only take about four minutes. I was only able to get it done twice today. That's a brilliant idea, only increasing my water one cup per month (instead of trying to hit my 8 cup goal and falling short almost every day).

Congrats on your weekly loss AND your monthly loss👏🏻👏🏻 Thats a lot of steps, especially for walking in the apartment 😃 Way to stay low in your calorie budget - that was a huge deficit! Another terrific gym day AND walk. I'm sorry to hear about the recall, hopefully it was due to something temporary 🤗 I'm glad you shared it with your doc. Please take care Roger.
Oh my goodness, look how proud she is of you 💖 You've come a long way and she recognizes that you aren't just getting healthier for you, but for your family as well. It's beautiful seeing the love between you two.

So.... I tried using the Strides app (it's a free habit tracker) to remind me to drink a cup of water every hour from 9am-5pm. Nope. I also set up a reminder to walk 250 steps every hour. NNNope. The app did help get me to drink an extra 1.5 cups of water, so that's good. The app also gave me an extra 800 steps. I was able to do the steps 3:8 times- this was unexpected, I thought it'd be easy to spare less than five minutes each hour to getting in 250 steps. Nope.
Got my fourth and final ride in for the week, which means I can get in a longer walk tomorrow, not a Megan, hopefully a mini-Megan though 😆.

I'm just doing some winding down things before bed, and thought I would check in real quick!!
So yeah (Linda I think it was you that asked me) it's an outdoor pool so it's all weather permitting. Tuesday and Wednesday seem a little grotty but we might luck out in the mornings- we shall see! I can always walk over there and see, it's not like I have to travel far- it's literally across the street, haha. I'm really excited
I still have the cleaning bug! This morning I cleared out some of the kitchen and washed the walls. Tomorrow I have made a honking list of things to do and thought i would get a head start while I was having my down time. I've brought some bags of stuff out of the spare room to organise tomorrow, and I've made my work/life/study schedule for the week, I just need to highlight it tomorrow. so, between studying, picking up my new swimming hat and goggles (can't find my old ones so I ordered some new ones) and watching England play in the Euro quarter finals, I am going to be a busy bee!
Going to try and chillax before bed now- shower first to help unwind.

steps - 10561. not even a mini megan. maybe a teeny weeny megan.
calories - 1316. not a typo. dessert was going to be half a large donut i bought yesterday but i decided to keep it until tomorrow. daughter ate the other half this morning, so it wasn't me. lol
exercise - 3.33 mile walk this morning. it was actually longer, but i forgot to un-pause my fitbit at one of the lights when i finally started across. it took 1 hr. 10 min to get to that point.
@Megan_smartiepants1970 grats on another weekly loss. i'm glad it's continuing.
@littleflutterby nice steps. grats on the pool. you definately know what to do when you get there...scope out the lifeguards for the cutest one and then feign drowning in front of them to get a smooch. good luck if you try that. it never worked for me or my friends. lol can you put the cleaning bug in the mail and send it here? i need to do something about the mess around here.

Meal prepping is a terrific way to make sure you are going to have delicious meals within your plan. I just marinate family-sized portions of chicken and steak, pop them in the freezer and then pull out a side from the fridge/freezer. Your way is so much better, just like the meal prep places that were all around (pre-pandemic). Enjoy your looooonnnnnngggg walk. My plan was to go on a mini-Megan, but I'm sitting here drinking coffee. Hoping to drain this cup and get out there soon before it gets too hot, or worse rains!

I wish I had the cleaning bug. I make myself clean, because that's the way I was brought up. I've been trying to declutter since the world shutdown and although I've donated so much stuff, I still have a lot to go through (how did I manage to hold onto so much over the years). You are doing a fantastic job, both decluttering and cleaning, all the while getting healthier every day. You're amazing Tanya!

Yesterday, I walked with my friend for 45 minutes, walked to the market (the short way) and spent 1.5 hours in the pool with my granddaughter. I didn’t swim laps but I stayed in constant motion. I was so hungry by supper I ended up using a good chunk of my Fitbit calorie adjustment which is unusual for me. I am hurting today but I will do my physio exercises and I won’t be walking today. The best part about yesterday was I learned being in the pool is so much easier on my back.
Norah, my granddaughter who thinks I am her 8 year old best friend, is having surgery on Thursday. She will be laid up all summer so Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we are planning lots of outings for her. I will miss some of my goals over those days but my priority is to help her have an entire summer in the next few days.

I did not let yesterday's "hangover" derail me, despite the lack of motivation, I made myself do my weight lifting AND take my walk. I was really happy I did!
This morning's weigh in was quite a surprise, a whole pound down from yesterday and exactly 25lbs lost!
@rwood566 very nice job with the steps, I am not even in the same universe as a mini-Megan or teeny weeny Megan either!

Today is my birthday. I am 57, a new age. I had a wish for my birthday. It was to reach a new age in weight, like age of aquarius. If I reached 299.8 I would be in my 4th century of weight in 2 years. I kept it to myself the last week so I wouldn't put to much pressure on myself.
i celebrated by eating the half apple fritter and half of the half buttermilk doughnut. i stopped at that amount because i was satisfied. i'm still hungry, but satisfied.8 -

Did grocery shopping and fireworks shopping. Was gonna dance in place for the rest of my steps at night but I guess the elliptical called my name cuz I hopped on there instead. Wasn't sure if my legs would allow two days in a row but the burning stopped after the first 5 minutes and I was able to do 20 minutes.
We are about the head out for a friend's pool and I'm very excited to go.6 -

I'm glad I'm starting to get back on track. I think my original goal might have been to aggressive so for July I just want to get to 140.0lbs or lower not necessarily 7lbs down. My goal being 130.0lbs makes it kind of impractical for me to be so aggressive at this point. A lot of the time now I'm struggling to stay in my deficit.5
