Made it to hair appointment with lots of time to spare!
Your looming is so involved! You have major patience! ❤️
Your meals sound great Carla! Total effort to really rock your next doc appointment!
Joe sounds like such a good sport! You two are so cute!
Mihani, hopefully a better night’s sleep 😴!
And I get the allure of the pretzels! I caved a week ago and bought the Snyder’s gluten free! So crunchy!
I ended up tossing em! Way too addictive!
So the scale has gone down since my first confession! ☺️ Will post weekly…hoping it keeps me a bit more accountable!
❤️❤️❤️0 -
Glad you had such a good time, Nance! and that they had at last some things you could eat. I have a couple recipes for cauliflower steak I've been meaning to try. Sounds like you really enjoyed it so I should get on that. I agree, Joe and Carla are such a cute couple! Yay for scale moving down!!!
Carla... you should write a book called the 3 a day plan and be the newest diet craze girl... 3 days, 3 walks, 3 meals, rinse and repeat. I like to do the short term goals sometimes, like I'm going to (workout, eat a salad every day, etc.) for like 5 to 7 days. So manageable. Then you just have to do those 5 or 7 days over and over again. That's the tricky part. You definitely have infinite patience for your arts and crafts. I would lose my mind and throw the whole thing out the window. LOL
I'm so disappointed but I've lost faith in that great independently owned juice place I found here. They still weren't answering the phone today. My guess is it's a solo owner who tries to do it all herself. She was very nice when I went in to pick up my order although I didn't chat long, but if nobody is there for multiple days and nobody answers the phone that isn't super confidence inspiring.
Thing is, not so much for weight loss (although I did lose 2 pounds doing 2 days of juicing during the day and a light meal for dinner which miraculously has stayed off) but the thing is I felt GREAT so I really think I want to do juice only one day a week or maybe every two weeks. It seemed to really help with inflammation as Nance has mentioned. I noticed other things like I slept better, my cravings subsided, less stressed, and I had more energy during those two days and for quite a few days after.
So I'm on the hunt for a place to mail order. The other local places (which are chains) are really really expensive. The place I purchased from the first time was expensive but not outrageous, and they were completely loaded with good stuff and very little fruit mostly lemon or a bit of apple. The ones I've seen in the organic store and at the other juice places have way too much fruit, like all the fruit is first on the list of ingredients and then oh yeah, here's some green stuff. I don't need all that sugar. Whole fruit is great but fruit juice not so much.
B - skipped it
L - Dr. McD soup, banana, 2 wasa crackers
D - big ol' salad with chickpeas added
S - damn pretzels

Mihani, I wonder if Mary's Gone Crackers would help with the crunch factor...and not be so "processed" with just flour to keep you going back for more.
I bought some today...they were on sale at Sprouts. Had about 8...and was happy with that...really crunchy. Just an idea.
Here's their website for info...maybe they carry at your at a store near you: https://shop.marysgonecrackers.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjwkvWKBhB4EiwA-GHjFlNlnCN0_EA-5BZyD_pNa7qcb5k6qgLeGbubYaxIOkTgVNw1bOGDQxoCthkQAvD_BwE0 -
Hi Magic, I overdo the Mary's crackers too unfortunately.
Found a place to get three days of juices and they will be delivered tomorrow. They are flash frozen before shipping. I'm going to do 3 days of juice only Sun/Mon/Tues.
Today's plan...
B - oats with blueberries, chia/flax, cinnamon
L - greens and beans from the freezer leftovers
D - big ol' salad
And no pretzels!

Yes! Happy you found a juice place...is it local...or do they ship everywhere? Could you give me the name.
Yeah, crunchy, carby things are a definite problem.I thought maybe because these had really good ingredients, they would cause NOT overindulging. I definitely have to watch myself...so far, so good...bought four boxes....thought they would be nice to take to Thanksgiving.
Well, waiting til 1 for first meal is a definite NO NO for me.
Came home, ravenous! Blew my meal plan out the water. Didn't do too crazy horrible, but did not do great.
Better day today.
BTW, if any of you have curly hair and need a good vegan product...
Yesterday, my stylist used something called Curlsmith on my hair...I found them on Amazon...just ordered two styling products...cream and gel.
IT's VEGAN...yippee!
Today:
Juice
Just Egg with veggies
Salad
Flatbread pizza
watermelon
Have a great day everyone!0 -
So, taking back the Go Walks...but...but, the de-lites size 8 wide felt good yesterday...was able to walk 20 min 2 mph. No inserts.
If you hold on to the front handles on my treadmill, it tracks your heart rate...I finally got it up to a fat burning rate...that made me happy.
Watching Netflix, Seinfeld from the beginning...that should keep me going for awhile.
But I have my treadmill workout, English scenery on my phone in the background to keep me going at a good pace.
Calling the orthopedic surgeon today to get a consultation. We met a year ago, and he told me then not to wait too long. He took x-rays and an MRI. But at the time, my beds were way too high for me to rehab in this house. Now, that I have new beds and my head is in as good a place as it's gonna be...time to go forward.
I am thinking Jan/Feb ish. Terrified to be honest.

Let us know how you like the juice, Mihani!
Nance, those things (big surgeries) are scary, but you will be so glad once it is in the rearview mirror. You've got this! Nice job with the treadmill!
Still working on fixing my threading/warping if you can believe it. I had to stop yesterday because my back was too sore from hunching over and it gets too dark in the 'loom room' at night. I am hoping to be weaving later today or at least by tomorrow. I feel good about persevering; in the past, I have indeed just cut a project off the loom and wasted that yarn. (gladly, too!)
I made a big bowl of tabbouleh this morning and accidentally made millet instead of quinoa, both of which would be subs for bulgur wheat. I'm making the cozy millet bowl tonight, so half will go to it and half to the tabbouleh. We'll see how it is in the tabbouleh! Joe is making us some black bean burgers to have on hand for quick meals/snacks.
B - smoothie, coffee
L - tabbouleh w/ millet, baked tofu
D - cozy millet w/ mushroom gravy, bean burger

Nance, this is the place: https://rawjuicery.com/ Looking forward to it. I really enjoyed the two days of juicing that I did a couple weeks ago. I'm doing the green "cleanse" although I dislike that word. Everyone warned me I was going to have all sorts of problems when I did the green juice the first time but I had no ill effects at all. I'm guessing because my gut is very used to lots of greens. Someone who eats a lot of meat and processed food and little green stuff who suddenly does juice probably would not have very pleasant side effects. LOL
Glad you are getting your appointment scheduled. I can understand it being so scary but I sure hope your knees are going to feel so much better when it's done. Everyone I know who has had knee replacement is so happy to get rid of that pain.
Hope you like that millet bowl, Carla. I think I added a touch of cayenne to the mushroom gravy. I must like ALL my food to have a bit of kick to it. Gloomy loom room? I should make some black bean burgers. Nice to make a batch and freeze for easy dinners. I've also been meaning to try a chickpea cutlet recipe.
Had a decent day but geeze we are so busy! I am planning to work all day Sunday possibly even going to the office. I am working from home Tuesday to wait for the new washer/dryer. I hope it arrives early in the day because I have a LOT of towels, sheets, etc. to catch up on and it would be nice to get a start on them Tuesday while I'm working.
Stuck to plan today. I'm going out tomorrow after work and will have a glass of wine, but other than that I hope another on plan day of food.

HORRIBLE night's sleep...darn! On my longest work day, too.
Thanks for the support girls...I know you're right...time to step up...consultation is 10/26.
coffee
ezekiel cereal and westsoy
big sald ...two of them...for the day.
yogurt
Later, my sweets.
Thanks for the tip on the juice company. Looks FAB, Mihani...you'll do great.0 -
I FORGOT MY LUNCH!
It’s in my giant lunch carry…so it will all be ruined!
Double dang it!0 -
Not a great start to your day Nance. A poor sleep and then forgetting your lunch. I hope things get much better as the day progresses. Do you have any of those McDougall or other dry instant meals kicking around at home? Maybe you can keep a few at the office for emergencies.
Joe and I both liked the cozy millet bowl. Comfort food and a bit of a thanksgiving/holiday vibe going on with the gravy and rosemary in there. I'll add a touch of cayenne next time around. Enjoy your after-work outing, Mihani!
I am somehow down 5 lbs in one week! I guess it really is those evening snacks that have been killing my weight loss. Can't be all real loss, but we haven't really cut our salt compared to the last month.
B - millet porridge w/ blueberries etc
L - leftovers - soup and/or millet bowl and tabbouleh
D - black bean burger patty with plant based burger sauce, lettuce, tomato, on Ezekiel bread with a side of roasted yams

woot woot! guess who is finally weaving some tea towels?! - this gal!!!
0 -
Oh no, Nance. Hope your day got better and you get a good sleep tonight!
Woohoo, Carla. Weave away girl. And yay for 5 pounds down! Glad you liked the millet bowl.
Had fun tonight.
B - ezekiel toast with almond butter
L - Dr. McD soup, banana
D - was thinking about a frozen something but realized I had NO salad or cooked veggies in my day so I had a salad with lots of veggies and added some chickpeas

Morning all...day was not great...I was in so much pain with my darn left knee...sooooooooo
Juicing for three days. Mihani...tell me how you did it...how did you get through your last mini juice fast, which seemed so effortlessly?
Also, Mihani, how much is the juice company you just ordered from. I go on there but was unable to find prices.
Today, I am taking some of my juice from the stock that is frozen...and also, ordering fresh from Nekter...carrot orange. Carrot/Orange ...especially CARROT, has detoxing properties and seems to work the fastest for me.
Carrot Juice
An easily available vegetable that works wonders for cleansing your liver. It is naturally tastier and possesses great nutritional benefits. Carrots contain Retinoic acid which protects the liver.
I slept with ice all night...pain is gone right now.
Anyway, more later...
today's menu
coffee
fresh juices (2) from nekter carrot/orange
frozen (defrosted) juices (3) from squeezed.com
I am NOW ready for this surgery. The pain yesterday was off the charts...so, yeah, I am so READY!
Carla! Weaving AND losing five pounds...look at you go, girl! Fabulous!

At work
Having orange 🍊 pineapple 🍍 carrot 🥕 apple 🍏 beets ginger 🍋0 -
Ordered carrot/orange/lemon/ginger from Nekter...two of em. I am already thinking I need to eat. LOL
But going to push through...I want to meet up with Mihani tomorrow when she starts.
NO pain at the moment...so I think it is working. Also, I have this very strong cbd cream 3,000 mg (120 bucks for 3.5 ounces) I put that on and I brought my ice things to put on my knees if the pain starts up again.
I am set to do battle!0 -
Nice job with the juicing! Hope that cbd cream works wonders.1

Hi Nance, not sure why but it really was effortless when I did the two days but that was only 4 a day and you eat a healthy dinner. The first day I just did the 4 juices and didn't even eat dinner. The second day I did have a salad for dinner. I think part of it was the expense. I just didn't want to waste the $60 I invested in it. LOL
The one I'm starting tomorrow is 3 days with 7 juices each day. One of the seven is a smaller bottle. I chose the green version which is more veggies/greens very little fruit other than lemon. One has pineapple juice and another a little apple. It was $149 for the 3 days so definitely not something I'll do often but maybe once every month or two or I might just do one day a week of juice. They are good for 1 to 2 months after purchase. Will have to see how this goes before making that decision.
https://rawjuicery.com/products/green-cleanse-g3d
I looked at squeezed.com and may try it next time. It's definitely less expensive but looks like they use more fruit. I did find one decent store juice. Bolthouse Farms has one that is just carrot, lemon, ginger, turmeric and black pepper. Great anti-inflammatory ingredients there.
I thought these were flash frozen and shipped but they are just shipped with freezer packs. The booklet says not to freeze them because it affects quality and taste. I must have confused it with another site I was looking at when I was searching.
When I tried juicing on my own the juice didn't really taste that good and I didn't feel well the second day. Kind of lightheaded. I think it's probably better to buy the prepared juice if you don't have the time or knowledge to make it right, but I might borrow my juicer back because the friend I gave it to isn't using it and I could do my own one day a week.
Glad your knee is feeling better today.
Today's menu...
B - oats with berries, chia/flax, cinnamon
L - lentil soup, ezekiel toast, banana
D - big ol' salad

Thanks, Carla...still having one of my carrot/orange juices...sipping...I put it over ice.
12:25...still no food. LOL Going for three days. Lord have mercy!0 -
I combined some recipes and came up with a yummy meal! I chopped up mixed greens quite fine in a bowl, then added a small asian pear, diced, and then tossed with dr fuhrman's walnut vinaigrette. Then on top of that, I dumped the leftover cozy millet mushroom bowl. I'll be making this again.

Sounds so good, Carla!
There are huge bags of chips and salsa in the breakroom. They had Mexican food catered for lunch today. I just keep thinking how much pain I was in yesterday...that's what is keeping me honest.0 -
Having squeezed.com spicy squeezed #2: pineapple, turmeric, orange, apple, lemon, ghost pepper. Very spicy!0

Up in the middle of the night…
Just saw your post Mihani…how did I miss that …lord !
Thanks so much for the details.
Yeah, your selection is way less sweet than mine. I wonder if I’d like it…I know it would be better for me.
Looking forward to hearing your review 💚💚💚0 -
Made it through day one… I think it’s easier for me at work, actually.
Three days max…maybe salad for dinner tomorrow night…I’ll see how I do.
Mihani’s juice company sounds really fabulous…once all my stock is used up, I’m might try raw juicery.
Time for coffee.0 -
Good morning... not off to the best start because I went back to bed this morning and didn't have my first juice until 9:30. Going to have to work at making sure to get all of them in every 2 hours now since I'm an early to bed type. First one was celery juice. Not a fan but I managed to drink it. I am not convinced that flat out juicing is the healthiest thing in the world but I felt so good doing it last time I thought I'd give it another try, and I think doing it occasionally for a day or two is fine.
I'll let you know how the rest of them taste after I get through them all, Nance. I am not really fond of sweet juices so the green version is better for me.
Your recipe mash up sounds great, Carla.
I have lots of work to do so I'm heading up to my desk for the rest of the day.

Yeah, celery juice...you just have to down it, IMHO. I kinda think I will be having a big salad tomorrow night...it's my weekend.
But, the pain has dramatically decreased in my left knee...so I really have to keep it clean going forward. This IS working.
I now have zero creative talent, Carla...so seeing your beautiful handiwork is so nice...I danced ...that was my creative outlet...and that is exactly how I messed up both knees...dancing and snow skiing.
Having coffee...yum.
today:
carrot/orange fresh from Nekter
green juice fresh from Nekter
Beet juice with lots of stuff in it...squeezed.com
Spicy squeezed.com
if need be, one more squeezed juice...
I have all my juices over ice.
Also, they do say you can have hot clear broth if you wish. Just and FYI!
Have a great day, my sweet peas!0 -
Last night before falling asleep, I thought about getting to drink coffee in the morning and broke into a big grin! Still allowing myself 3 cups of coffee. It really helps me wait until 10:30 or 11am for breakfast, which I'm trying to do because intermittent fasting is supposed to be good for blood sugar. (I won't say diabetes because I refuse to accept it. I will plant-base and walk my way out of it!)
Today and tomorrow we're having our Cdn thanksgiving dinner. I have a Clean Food Dirty Girl recipe set from October 2019 that was Thanksgiving themed, and there's a trio of recipes in there that all work together. The roasted butternut squash gets used in a squash and bean soup as well as the pasta bake, and the Italian tofu crumbles get used in the pasta and in a shepherd's pie. It makes all of that cooking less onerous. And oh my! All of those recipes are so good. We had the soup last night for dinner and we'll have it again for lunch.
My leafside order hasn't shipped yet, but I have high hopes that they will be tasty meals that we can make when we're pressed for time or need a break from cooking. I'm going to use pre-washed mixed greens topped with whatever veggies are handy and tossed with Dr. F's walnut vinaigrette along with these meals for super easy meal prep.
Nice job on the juicing ladies! (I can only have the greens-heavy juices for blood sugar, and I don't enjoy the taste...of course, I always make my own so I'm sure there are tastier ones around if you purchase them.)
Oh, and Nance, it isn't that you don't have creative talent...you just lost your outlet and need to find another way to channel it! I hope you can find something else creative that you love.

Happy Thanksgiving, Carla...your menu sounds delicious...you should take pictures of your table, if you think about it.
I am still only having juice...but man, I could go for something to eat. LOL However do people go on extended juice fasts? I will be ready for my salad tomorrow after work. Can't wait.
Plenty of work today, to keep me busy and not focused on food...well, kinda not focused.
Later, mates.0
