Morning dollies...good luck with your juicing, Mihani...it does give you a boost to stay the course, I feel.
So, I finally got a good Cox Cust Ser Rep...got back on line...two hours later...anyway, she got my bill back to where it was and five dollars lower...I only have internet and then family share with YouTube TV. Plenty of crap to watch. (Netlfix family share and I have Amazon Prime as well)
Back to work today...
coffee
4 star juice
oatmeal, frozen blueberries, flaxmeal, cinnamon
baked potato with Forger sour cream and scallions
4 star juice
cocojune vegan yogurt
HAGDE!
ETA:
HELP: So I am thinking my bright idea to buy a huge bag of potatoes at Costco was a big fat mistake...some...well, most are tinged green. I guess that is no no, eh? Dang!
I might be able to throw together a taco salad...I just need to get moving. CRAPOLA!

Taco Salad: romaine, cilantro, scallions, cherry tomatoes, olives, pinto beans, corn, 505 green chili salsa and the not so great add ins but they make the salad: two tostadas broken up, Forager sour cream.
Something to look forward to. I am definitely not a purest.0 -
Taco salad sounds delish, Nance!
I don't have suggestions for potatoes. I try to avoid them because they raise my blood sugar. But I guess if they are still good you could shred and freeze them for hash brown style potatoes? That's all I've got, sorry!
We didn't feel like cooking so we had the Leaf Side Madras Curry bowl for dinner. I ate a little over half and saved the rest for lunch. I liked this one a little better, while Joe preferred the alfredo. The lids weren't completely secure during the 10 minute 'cook' time, so I had some bits that weren't quite the right texture. Make sure you seal it up well. And next time I think I'll wait 12 minutes to be safe. New bowls specifically for these meals arrived late so I haven't used them yet.
Homemade stir fry noodle bowl with broccoli etc is on the menu for today.
Finished my work for the day already (I like to keep Fridays as light as I can), so now on to my classes with some cleaning breaks in between to break things up.

I've heard about the green tinge to potatoes, Nance. I am quite sure I ate plenty of them when I was young but we didn't know any better then. I don't use them if they are green now. Glad you got your internet back!
The bowl sounds great, Carla. That's honestly my favorite thing nowadays. A grain, some raw and cooked veggies, cooked greens, beans or tofu, a sauce or dressing of some sort. Endless variety and once everything is cooked I have my meals all set for days. You are being so productive this week... excellent habit building.
I enjoyed the juice more today using the ones from the local place. Doing fine so far today and have two more juices to go before bedtime. I will see how I feel about it tomorrow morning but I will probably just go ahead and do the third day then back to WFPB on Sunday. I'm heading to the grocery early tomorrow morning then home to work all day. I'm starting to get a little panicked that we are so swamped and the end of the year is approaching fast, which is always an extremely busy time with loads of deadlines.
Will get my second stint on the treadmill in after I have another juice. I am so proud of myself that I have got on the treadmill twice a day every day this week. I have wanted to blow it off, especially in the evening, but since I am doing 20 to 30 minutes in the morning I'm so close to my 7500 goal by the time I get home that I feel like I really should jump back on there. And it is rewarding when the fitbit tells me I reached my step goal. It's such a judgy little piece of technology, and has been displeased with me for many months now.

I'm proud of you, Mihani...I can't believe you are rocking that treadmill twice a day while being so busy with work. Awesome job!
You guys are both putting me to shame with all of that juicing! I don't have a place nearby and I just can't work up the oomph to haul out the juicer and start washing and juicing all of those veggies.

Mornin' all. I'm happy I had the juice yesterday and didn't have my usual Friday night beer or wine. I may continue to juice on Fridays for a few weeks to be sure I've rid myself of that habit. We'll see. I'm going to do the third day of juices today and get back to WFPB tomorrow.
I've had no problem with juice only for two days and don't anticipate a problem with day 3 today, but this will be my last time juicing for more than one day at a time I'm sure. I am not at all convinced it is healthy long-term although I think a day or two here and there does no harm and has some benefits. Last night, I looked up Dr. Greger on juicing https://nutritionfacts.org/2016/06/09/juicing-removes-just-fiber/ and as I was reading this article it dawned on me I never did get How Not to Diet. I loved How Not to Die and intended to read the Diet one so I hopped on amazon and it is free with kindle unlimited. Started reading it last night. I love Dr. Greger's writing style and enthusiasm.
The main thing I found from juicing is that it dramatically resets my appetite and cravings. Eating strictly WFPB does the same thing, but for whatever reason juicing for a day does that immediately whereas I have to eat strictly for a couple of weeks to get to that point.
The other thing about it is a certain amount of energy and mental clarity which has lasted for quite a few days after a day or two of juice only. Thing is, I only need one day to get these results so there's no point in doing juice longer. I would also stress that I am doing primarily green juices with not much fruit at all other than lemon. A couple of them have some apple or pineapple, and one has orange and grapefruit.
I've dropped another couple pounds doing this, but it's highly unlikely that is anything other than water weight. I'm definitely ready to get back to eating real food.
Off to the grocery then home to do laundry and work. Might go to the office for a bit tomorrow morning, depending on what I get through here today. I want to cook tomorrow and have meals ready for the week.

Wow...you're killing it, Mihani!
I am struggling...spinning my wheels.
Only thing to do is try again for a better today!
coffee
four star juice
oatmeal and the usual add ins
salad with beans and corn, tomatoes, scallions, cilantro, olives
four star juice
cocojune yogurt
Everyone, have a beautiful day!0 -
Going grocery shopping and planning my cooking for tomorrow made me want food. LOL
I'll get through it. Plan for cooking tomorrow:
cabbage and kale casserole from Dr. F's quick and easy cookbook
sheet pan fajitas
mushroom gravy (plan to make a big batch and freeze in individual portions)
roasted broccoli and zucchini
brown rice
charro beans
With my salads that will have me all set for the week.
Heading up to my desk here shortly, after I drink my second juice of the day. Thinking I'll wait and do laundry tomorrow while I cook so I don't have to interrupt my work so often today. I have a few other errands to run tomorrow and hopefully make time to visit a friend.

I had leftover curry and a bit of tu-no yesterday for dinner, so the stir fry over noodles has moved reschedule again for today! We'll probably have enough of that for 2 days, and then I'll finally be making the squash and bean soup again.
I gave myself an easy list of goals for today and just having that list somehow helps me do other things around the house as I go. I guess it's just momentum.
I've been adding strawberries as well as the usual blueberries to my morning smoothies and enjoying the flavor. I'm not sure I need the pea protein in there, but I like the texture it provides.
It is cold but dry so far today so we might do some work on the greenhouse. The forecast has been for nothing but rain for days so we hadn't planning on it, but we should take this opportunity to make progress.
coffee coffee coffee

l - tu-no
d - greens mushrooms & onion noodle bowl0 -
Lord, how long does it take to ship the Leaf Side meals...I ordered last Sunday...maybe they will go out Mon/Tues? Hope so!0
-
I ended up eating a banana and a small bowl of salad this evening. I wouldn't say I was overly hungry but I was just tired of juice and wanted something real to eat. I think it is pretty clear two days is my limit on juice fasts. I feel good and am glad I did it. I am having my last juice now and doubt I will do it again for a couple months. Maybe after the holidays if I need a reset.
I read on the website that leafside is having high volume of orders, Nance. Hopefully they will be there soon.
It is cold here too, Carla. Had to turn the furnace on the other day.
I am not enjoying How Not to Diet. I loved How Not to Die but this one not so much.
Took a nap mid-afternoon and will need to be more focused on work tomorrow.

Off to a better start today. Got up at 5:30, did 25 minutes on the treadmill, took a shower, got the dog out and fed, started a load of laundry. Going to prep all my veggies for cooking this evening so that's out of the way and the cooking part won't seem so overwhelming if everything is ready to throw in the pot or in the oven.
I won't be making the cashew queso for the fajitas since I'm making the cabbage and kale casserole which has almonds in the sauce and I would be overdoing the nuts.
Lots of work to do today but will be taking a break for a couple hours mid-day to run a few errands and a quick visit with a friend.

GREAT job on the juicing...and man, you are full of energy...I know that juicing does help with clarity of thinking and just follows that you are focused on getting so much done. Enjoy the rewards of your hard work, Mihani.

Mihani, I thought it was just me. I was so eager to get 'How not to Diet' and now here it sits on my shelf, mostly unread. I should really donate it. I like having reference type books in a physical format, but there's only so much room. Nice job on the TM and with juicing!
Leaf Side has high volume. Mine took a long time to ship, but once it shipped it arrived quickly. Hope you get yours soon, Nance!
Finally did indeed have the noodle bowl last night. It has been such a long time since we've made it that we forgot to make the baked tofu to go with it. I'm making the tofu tonight for the leftovers and it is always nice to have spare tofu kicking around. I ended up having my tu-no over 2 thin slices of Ezekiel bread with mixed greens and mustard for lunch. A nice change to have a sammich!
Supposed to be high winds in the area from this morning until Tuesday morning! Hoping we keep our power. If not, we have a gas range and cans of Amy's chili, and I can spin yarn and read on my kindle.
b - breakfast out!
l - tuno and salad
d - noodle bowl with tofu
Here's my October yarn spun up and plied together.

Nope, not just you, Carla. I thought I would enjoy this one as much as I did How Not to Die but not at all. I ended up skimming through a lot and haven't gone back to it since the first night. Glad it was free with kindle unlimited.
The yarn is beautiful! Any idea what you are going to create with it? Noodle bowl sounds great. Ya know, when I went to the grocery yesterday they were completely out of tofu other than 2 packages of soft tofu. Thank goodness, since I needed a package of soft tofu for the cabbage and kale casserole.
Nance, the mental clarity and energy are the two best things about the juicing I think! I am going to try very very hard to stick to strict WFPB now so that I don't slide back into bad crunchable snack habits.
I decided against doing all the cooking today. I am making the casserole and will wait to make the fajitas on Wednesday since the casserole will easily last me 3 days and I can freeze what's left. I also roasted cauliflower and broccoli. Have an extra bunch of kale and will saute that with onion, mushroom and zucchini later in the week. Salads this week are pretty simple with red and green leaf, radish, carrot, pickled red onion, broccoflower.
B - oats with blueberries, chia/flax, cinnamon, yogurt
D - casserole, salad, grapes
I was running errands through lunchtime and wasn't hungry so I will have an early dinner and call it a day on eating. Need to get some more work done before bedtime too.

Simple post from me to you...
coffee
4 star juice (1/2 English Cucumber, 1 cup frozen pineapple, a good bit of peeled ginger, one lemon, peeled....24 oz water...in the vitamix...enjoy)
oatmeal and blueberries, flax and cinnamon
salad
dinner?????
Have a great day everyone...continue to stay the course...you all are killing it...tomorrow is my appointment with ortho surgeon...finally! I am thinking late January for TKR!0 -
I got into the dates and nuts after dinner and overdid it, but I added in a 30 minute TM walk to keep my blood sugar in check.
I have a full day and a late afternoon appointment for my ultrasound so we're going to have a Leaf Side meal for dinner. I'll let you know what I think.
B - smoothie
L - ? tuno maybe, i have a bit left but it is getting old
D - Leaf side
no darn nuts and dates. c'mon, Carla!
Here's my finished skein of yarn. I'm going to have to force myself to start spinning thinner yarns! My default grist is quite thick and the projects I tend to gravitate to use thinner yarn. I'm considering making a pillow out of this if it all works out.

How's that juice/smoothie working Nance? Helping with the joint pain?
Carla, do whole fruits mess with your blood sugar? Just wondering if maybe a diced apple or pear with a small handful of nuts sprinkled over top might work. Apples are so filling. Love the colors in that yarn. Makes me think of autumn trees and meadows.
Busy, stressful day and at one point I thought about the pretzels, but I distracted myself and kept working and promptly forgot about them. I think I read something a long time ago that the average craving doesn't last more than a couple minutes. I am keeping wasa crackers in my desk so if I really feel like I'm going to give in to the pretzels at least I can grab a wasa cracker instead.
B - roasted broccoli and cauliflower
L - salad with chickpeas added, dressing was just balsamic mixed with dijon, a wasa cracker
D - leftover casserole on a big pile of lettuce, 2 clementines, grapes
Got up extra early (because I fell asleep extra early) so I did a full 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning.

My order is suppose to arrive today...and I have my ortho appointment. I haven't been able to walk on TM for a long time...let's look at the calendar...OCTOBER 6TH...
I'm feeling a bit foolish for spending $2,100 on a TM and I can't even use it. Lord, I hope I can use it after surgery!
today:
coffee
4star juice
oatmeal
a big salad with baked potato...going to Trader Joe's...their small bags of organic russets are never green. Going forward, sticking with them.
LEAF SIDE...if it arrives...otherwise...not sure. Maybe baked tofu and steamed spinach.
You guys are doing a fabulous job...
love the yarn, Carla
Mihani, excellent TM workout!
I am not losing from the four star juice...but it has improved my sleep. I still wake up middle of the night...but it has improved the quality...look, it's cucumber, pineapple, ginger and lemon...for sure, it can't hurt.
HAGDE!
*Mihani...I think it might be helping with joint pain...yesterday, at work...I wore my tommy copper things under my pants...that really helped. At night...when the pain wakes me...I put on this sleeve of ice beads (paradice ice bags...darn, they are out of business I think...I got them first from QVC and then they had a website...BEST ICE BAGS EVER)...anyway, that helps relieve the pain and I fall back asleep.

Good luck with your appointment today, Nance! Let us know how it goes. The TM will be there waiting for you when you are ready. Hope you have a better weekend this week.
I'm happy that my ultrasound is behind me, though now I'm waiting for results trying not to worry. I am glad I didn't know ahead of time just how invasive that exam was going to be! The ultrasound part was a breeze, but then they have this camera that they take inside and go exploring. Yeesh.
We have a guy coming over today to give us a quote on putting in some new water lines from our well to other areas of our property - the front orchard and the shop (and then I'll be able to have a dye studio with running water! yay!). It involves digging trenches below the frost line and I'm not sure we called the right company, but it is just one of several quotes we'll get to figure that out.
We had the 'tex mex' Leaf Side meal last night. Meh. On a positive note, we both had about half left over so we're going to start sharing meals, making it half the price. I can see how if you're traveling you would just eat it as is, but there's room for a lot of improvement by adding a few things. This one would have been better over quinoa. It needed something to change up the texture. I'd also like some bigger chunks of veggies in all of the meals - the issue being once you add those yourself is it really all that easy? And I can understand why they can't do that, because as it is, it is hard to get everything to rehydrate and get to the correct texture with the small pieces. We haven't decided yet if we'll do one more round and freeze the meals or just cancel until we have a specific need for it.
b - smoothie
l - leftover tex mex
d - squash and bean soup!

What is one thing that I can do, right now, to get me closer to my goals?
This question has helped me a lot! I think of it while I'm waiting for my coffee to finish brewing, when I'm between larger tasks, when I'm sitting for too long in the evening, etc!
Even small things are super helpful. Like if I'm planning to clean later in the day but don't have time right now, I'll gather the cleaning supplies and put them in that room for later.

Carla , I’m sorry…what was the ultrasound for? I must be way too absorbed in my own mess. Please forgive me .0
-
Nance, I may have not even mentioned it! I had a very heavy period last cycle, so my doc wanted things checked out.1
-
Praying for good news…and soon!1
-
Made it to my appointment! An hour early! Had no idea where I was going …used the map thing in my car!
Hoping for all systems go after today’s appointment!

I think I'm talked out of trying the Leafside meals. I like it in theory, but the McDougall soups, although quite a bit cheaper, aren't thrilling. The only one I really like and always keep on hand is the hot and sour. If I need something that fast and simple I'd rather heat up a can of beans and throw some onion, spices and frozen veggies in with the beans. I think I get caught up sometimes in having to cook when really it can be as easy as that.
Hoping for good news on the ultrasound, Carla. And from your ortho appointment today, Nance.
I haven't decided if I'm going to do juice on Friday. I was going to take a break from playing with that, but I sort of feel like maybe I should plan on it so I know I won't stop for the Friday night wine. Maybe a few Fridays in a row to get rid of that Friday night habit.
With it getting cold and dark so early I just want to go to bed at 8:00 and read for a little while, but I'm asleep by 9:00. So I've been getting up between 4 and 4:30 a.m. It's nice because I was able to get 30+ minutes on the treadmill again this morning, but it doesn't leave much time for getting any work done in the evenings.
Going to work for a couple hours after dinner though, then another half hour on the treadmill and bedtime.
B - roasted broccoli and cauliflower (have been taking this to work and eating breakfast at around 9:30)
L - salad with chickpeas and a very small handful of pumpkin seeds added, a wasa cracker
D - the rest of my lunch salad I didn't finish today, cabbage and kale casserole, berries and a sliced banana with cinnamon and a tablespoon of chopped walnut

Surgery early January…
I was very emotional…will explain when I’m at my computer.
Will begin to hear from surgical team next week to set up all pre surgery appointments!
Dinner…Thai Veggie Noodle Bowl
I have already made my mind up…it’s gonna be great !
Oh yes…no more treadmill til after surgery…he said it’s a good thing…you’ll get lots of use out of it.0 -
Wow, that's coming up fast, Nance! I sure hope you feel SO much better once that is done.
I got 11,000 steps in yesterday! I was on the treadmill last night and glanced at my fitbit and I was at 8,500 so I thought oh just go another 1,500 steps, but then I ended up getting in even more.
Did end up ordering juice to pick up tomorrow for Friday. It will prevent that impulse to stop in my wine shop to grab beer or wine on Friday. The clerks are going to start worrying about me soon as I haven't been in for a couple weeks! LOL
Anyway, I seem to be on a definite roll here with healthy habits, and I want to keep the momentum going as long as possible.
0 -
Fabulous trend you've got going...I agree, keep the momentum going...the juice for tomorrow is a great idea. And WTG on the TM
So, yeah, he said, no more TM til after surgery...and he will have me on it for sure...so, that made me happy.
He is just an amazing surgeon...I've seen his work ...one of the salesmen recommended him...Dr. Kenneth Schmidt and so far he has been nothing but wonderful. Super bedside manner and if all his reviews are true, then I know I am in very good hands.
The Thai noodle whatever was OK...not great, not awful...just ok...which is fine ... I do feel good that it has Dr. Gregor's name attached but he is NOT endorsing it...whatever. I ate the whole thing..first time having soy curls...weird but ok. Had a small yogurt for dessert, just cuz I love dessert. Did not have anything else.
I think I will like this...keeping track of what I really love and would order again and what I will pass on. I did cancel my auto delivery...make sure to do that, Carla, in case you haven't.
IN PHOENIX, we have Chef Jason Wyrick...he is owner and chef of THE Vegan Taste...home delivery of fresh VEGAN GOURMET food...it's already made...super reviews.
He did have a restaurant but with Covid that closed last year (not sure if it is still open) and he is concentrating on home delivery now...it has quite the following. Jason came to WFPB because he had health issues as a chef...diabetes and overweight. NOW, he is a leading WFPB chef...kinda a big deal...in lots of magazines yada yada.
https://thevegantaste.com/
So, if I want gourmet food delivered, I will go that route. I looked at this week's menu...going to pass...but will keep this option in mind for after surgery as well.
Right now Leafside is fine.
today's menu:
coffee
four star juice
oatmeal
salad with potato
Leafside SMOKY PEA SOUP
YOGURT
Enjoy your day everyone.0 -
