Opportune October!

Too bad you couldn't catch the light show, Carla. I'm impressed you are studying physics for fun!
Nance, that work schedule sounds lovely. I want to cut back to 4 days a week and no working on weekends when I turn 60 in another couple years. We would probably have to hire more help if I do that though.
I got a few loads of laundry done and puttered around wasting time this morning then took a nap. I need to get busy on some work now.
Brunch - "meatloaf" sandwich (lentil and sweet potato loaf from the healthy carryout place) and a clementine
D - big ol' salad, leftover pasta with greens, watermelon

good news at my appointment...ultra sound results were not as scary as I thought they were when I read them. Pretty common stuff. Nothing to do right now. I will have a follow up ultrasound in 3 months to make sure the cysts haven't grown. Sometimes they shrink or disappear on their own. whew!
I have been pretty stressed out over the whole thing, and I'm strangely having trouble decompressing even though the news is good. I'm going to take it easy today and work on knitting my second sock and watch a few podcasts. The rest of the week I'll be doing testing for week so I have a good opportunity for relaxing today.
Oh, and it was a nice sunny day so a beautiful drive with sun shining on snow-capped mountains in the distance.
B - skipped / coffee
L - smoothie
D - veggies over noodles0 -
Great news, Carla! Hope you enjoyed your R&R day and feeling better.
Just wrapped up some work. I came home early to work on a headachy file and got it done. Yay! I am going to go jump on the treadmill as I'm still short almost 1,000 to my daily goal of 7,500. Most days I've been able to get over 10,000 lately but I'm not upping my goal. It took me a looong time to learn I have to take this time for me every day and it's nice to have a reasonable goal that I can reach. Eventually I'll up the goal to 10,000 but for now I like the fitbit giving me the woohoo when I get 7,500.

Great job getting your steps in, Mihani. I think your decision to keep your goal the same is a good one. I've gone through the same thing in the past...upping a goal only to then start failing when things get tough/busy/whatever and feeling discouraged then stopping altogether. It is much better to keep it reasonable and really cement the habit in there before changing it up.
I am now in 'making all the things' mode. I am trying to finish my knit sock (about 1/3 of the way through), I have the correct needles to make my father in law's toque, I am spinning up the coordinating colorway for the skein of yarn I posted recently, and I already have the next two sets of fiber to spin up waiting for me. Then I have that prayer shawl to weave, a project of some sort to make out of the aforementioned handspun yarns, and I am getting a strong urge to try dying my own self-striping yarns for socks. It's ridiculous. But I can't seem to make myself remove anything from this list. Oh, and I have at least two quilts to finish so that I can gift them to my nephews for Christmas. Yikes. And why am I so crazy that all of this brings a smile to my face. Might be smiling less towards the end of the month!
I only got in one walk yesterday, but I'll rally and get in 3 today. Poor Ruby has a sore paw that has a funky fungus from getting too wet. She has a lot of fur on the bottom of her feet and it stays wet. She doesn't like us touching that area so it is really hard to get in there with scissors to trim it out. We're putting ointment from the vet up in the crannies of her paw and putting her cone on so she can't obsessively lick. HOpefully this will heal her up. If not it will be another trip to the vet.
I added split peas to our grocery order, so once we're out of the veggies that expire quickly, I'll be making up a batch of pea soup. We've got cool mornings here and some rainy days so a bowl of hot soup is really appealing right now.
Nance, do you have a date scheduled for your surgery yet? Hope you're having a good weekend!0 -
