Great job getting your steps in, Mihani! And with your juicing instead of 'wine-ing'! I hope it doesn't stop you from your occasional Friday outings getting together with friends...maybe you can talk one or two of them into meeting up at a juice bar instead
Nance, your surgeon sounds fabulous. That must be a great weight off of your mind. Having the right doctor and having a plan in place. Thanks for the reminder to cancel Leaf Side. I canceled it. The local gourmet options would appeal to me if it was in my area. What I would REALLY love is if I could hire someone to shop for and make the Clean Food Dirty Girl menu for us each week. Plenty of healthy food that easily gets us through a full week. A bit on the carby side, but great variety of veggies and flavors.
I had a bad sleep last night and ended up awake and reading in the spare bedroom for a couple of hours. (Good book series, btw, Mihani...J.A. Jance and the Ali Reynolds series...plus I see she has a lot of other books in different series).
Yesterday I had a headache for most of the day, so I didn't work on my math class. I did make some great progress cleaning the bathrooms, though! All that is left is to scrub the floors today. I made up some natural cleaning products with tea tree and lemon essential oils.
My tea towels are off of the loom, but my sewing machine wasn't cooperating yesterday when I tried to hem them. The presser foot button and the needle up/down button isn't 'listening' to me. I wasn't up for troubleshooting with the headache but if I have time today I'll try again. Failing that, tomorrow I'll take out my simple little sewing machine and just get it done.
Plan for today:
coffee of course
b - smoothie
l - skip or soup
d - butternut squash soup and homemade seed & nut crackers
no date and nut snacks. seriously.1 -
Update on the ultrasound...I have cysts on my ovaries, so I've been referred to a gynecologist. Should hear from them within the next week to set up an appointment. I know it is fairly common, and trying to not worry too much. Will keep you posted!
Also, while on the phone visiting with my mom, I cooked garbanzo beans and roasted the squash for supper. I also unloaded the dishwasher and swept the bathroom floors. Some decent progress instead of just sitting around while chatting.0 -
Grrrr... lost my post! I hadn't got too far but still.
Carla, yeah the cysts are fairly common but still no joke. Hope you can get in for the follow up soon. Thanks for the tip on the book series. I made a note. I think I will try that butternut squash soup this weekend. It is cold and soups are sounding very appealing right now. I am sure I'll be out with friends at some point and indulge in some wine, but I hope juicing on Fridays will keep me from drinking at home. It's just a waste of calories and it seems like even just a couple drinks these days makes me tired the next day. Nice job getting chores done while chatting.
So glad you are happy with your surgeon, Nance. And that treadmill will be waiting for you post-surgery. I think the leafside would make a lot of sense for when you are recovering and can't cook for yourself.
Still super duper busy with work. Probably going to have to actually go into the office this weekend which I really hate.
B - roasted broccoli and cauliflower
L - salad with pinto beans and salsa on top, 2 clementines, 2 wasa crackers
D - more salad with bragg's and dijon for dressing, leftover casserole, watermelon, almond milk yogurt
Trying to do better about getting fruit in at least twice a day. I don't know that I will ever get to where I'm consistently eating 4 fruits a day, but if I can make sure I'm getting 2 to 3 servings I'll be happy.

Having coffee...going to DMV ... license expired on my birthday...I had just renewed 2017...that's not nice, but I guess it's ok...old people stuff...gotta make sure we can move to be able to drive. LOL
same menu for me...and not sure of about Leaf Side dinner...thinking the red lentil pasta.
Later, mates.0 -
I'll try the smoky pea soup if/when we re-order from leaf side. I didn't order any of the soups.
We had to drop our car off at the mechanics and we picked up breakfast in town while we were out. Nothing in particular wrong with the car, it is just overdue for a servicing and needs an oil change. I haven't driven in a year or longer...I actually forgot how to put my own car in reverse. Which is bad, but not quite as bad as it sounds...it is a 6-speed, and the reverse is up and to the left of first gear, but also you have to press down on the shifter to get it to go into place. Oh, and it hasn't just been sitting for a year...that would be bad...Joe was driving it.
I get in 3 servings of fruit each day in the morning with blueberries and strawberries in my smoothie. It's a good thing I do, because I don't usually have fruit again during the day. I'm waiting for Mandarin oranges to come down in price and be tasty. Then I'll be eating those for dessert.
b - out
l - skip
d - butternut squash & bean soup0 -
OB/GYN appointment this coming Monday morning.1

Thinking good thoughts, sweet girl !

BTW, I let leafside meals sit at least 20 minutes…sometimes more if necessary. 10 minutes not enough.
0 -
I will do that with the next Leafside meal. 12 minutes was not enough, so I'll go for 20 next time.0
-
Ugh, one of the least favorite errands for any of us, Nance. Hope you didn't wait in line long to get your license renewed.
Glad you got your appointment scheduled, Carla. I have the ingredients for the soup on my grocery list but I may not cook this weekend. I still have stuff to make lentil soup and since it very much looks as if I will be in the office most of the weekend I don't want to mess around with shopping and cooking. I can throw lentil soup together in my sleep.
B - a cup of blueberries with 1/2 cup oats, chia/flax, cinnamon, mixed with vanilla yogurt
L - big old salad topped with pinto beans and salsa, a clementine, a wasa cracker
D - mushroom, white bean, spinach ravioli with cashew cream sauce (from the healthy carryout place no oil), watermelon

Not re-ordering the pea soup
Eating second half. Not horrible…it is edible
Just miss real pea soup too much0 -
Your dinner sounds so good, Mihani!
Good info on the pea soup...just you talking about it has me thinking I might have to make up a homemade batch. I know I have a good recipe somewhere, if only I can find it! I will treat Joe and I too by putting in some Field Roast vegan sausages. If I can't find my original recipe, I might try this one since it is one of those 'throw everything into the Instant Pot' and walk away type deals: https://wfpbunderpressure.com/split-pea-soup-in-an-instant-pot/0 -
I ended up ordering a case of Anderson Split Pea soup on Amazon. I have such great memories of that soup...we took a trip there http://www.peasoupandersens.net/ when I was a kid...still remember...and that soup was a staple in our house for the longest time.
Up ... paying bills...hope my mind an rest now.0 -
My is now a five star...I add 3 oz fresh baby spinach to the mix. YUM
coffee
five star juice
oatmeal with Westsoy, cinnamon, flax, blueberries
cinnamon apple crunch Leaf Side *
baked potato with forager sour cream
yogurt
Not thrilled...prob will not order again unless something turns around and these become aaaamazing.
With that said, I will use them to hopefully assist in my weight loss journey.
I will say that since starting with these meals, my knee has not been painful during the night...I had been waking up and having to get my Paradice Ice Bag to numb my left knee. Interesting.
HAGDE!0 -
Interesting about your knee pain going away at the same time as eating the meals.
Hope you get in some time to catch up around the house & also relax this weekend, Mihani.
Bit of a rough sleep, have the ultrasound results on my mind.
It isn't going to rain all weekend, so we're going to put in some time on the greenhouse. Since we've resumed working on it we've had nothing but rainy days.
B - smoothie
L - bean burger patty w/ mixed greens and balsamic walnut vinaigrette
D - last of the butternut squash soup
had a small-ish squash so I added all of it the recipe and did time and a half. It made for 3 dinners for the two of us, probably with enough left over for a single lunch tmo0 -
Well poop!
It said 1 1/2 cup boiling water
I put in 2 1/2
Apple Cinnamon Crunch sweet bowl
Grrr! I am at work! 😞

ETA. kinda eating it…would have been great with the recommended amount of water
Ordered a salad from Uber eats0 -
That is cool that your knee stopped hurting with the new foods, Nance. I hope that continues. Bummer about adding too much water to your bowl. I think Carla said she did that too the first one.
Carla, hope you get better sleep tonight. It has been raining for days here too. Getting tired of it. I love summer rain when it is warm. Not so much when it is cold.
I am doing juice today. Drinking my 5th one while I type, and have one more to go this evening. It works out well as a Friday "don't stop at the wine store" strategy. For salads this week I have lettuce, green onion, radish, carrot, zucchini and yellow squash, red and yellow peppers. Will top the salads with pinto or black beans and salsa. Not sure what I will make for dinners this week. Probably a big ol' stir-fry and rice. Need to make a grocery run for bok choy and bamboo shoots for the stir-fry.
Need to quit talking about food when I'm doing a juice day. LOL

Hope you got some sleep, Carla...I know what that's like...horrible...ruins the whole day.
Mihani, great job on NO WINE FRIDAYS...you're definitely on a roll...keep that momentum going.
Having coffee
easy menu
coffee
juice
oatmeal
leaf side taking measuring cup with me to be sure I use only 1.5 cups.
more juice
potatoes and Forager sour cream
yogurt.

Loving Hut USA VEGAN RESTAURANT Location right up my street from work...can use UBER or GRUB HUB for delivery. They also have indoor dining in some locations.
Check them out...they may have a location near you.

I didn't sleep all that well, but partly my own choice. Joe and I got up at 4am to look for the Northern Lights which we believed would be visible last night/early this morning. We walked out into our field and didn't have any luck. Turns out tonight is likely the night. Anyway, after tromping around in the cold, we were both too awake to go back to sleep. Had an afternoon nap.
A year ago, I went to knit a hat for my father in law, who indicated last year that he would like one similar to the one I made for Joe. I'm an infrequent and very slow knitter, and got frustrated after two attempts and a broken cable for my needles. I tried to resume the project today when I realized I hadn't replaced the needles. Ordered a new circular needle pair that is coming on Monday. In the meantime, I'm now working on a 2nd sock for myself. I completed the first one also about a year ago and that was the end LOL.
Napped through lunch, will have stir fried veggies over noodles for dinner.
Happy you have a good vegan option near you, Nance!0 -
Thanks, Nance... it was easier this week than last week for sure to avoid the wine or beer on Friday. I don't drink or even get tempted to drink during the week but I sure do like to have something on Friday after work! I think we have a Loving Hut somewhere around here but I've never tried it. Glad you are finding places to make it easy during your recovery when you have surgery.
I got to the office around 8:00... wanted to pretend it was a regular work day and not think about it being Saturday, although I usually get there earlier than that. Didn't get out until almost 2:00. I brought home a major project to do tomorrow but at least I'll be home. Will be doing laundry and hanging out with the puppers so it will be good. Secretary is off this coming Thursday and Friday (yes, again) so I have to do more catching up before then.
Went to the grocery after I left the office. The bare shelves of many items was depressing and finding NO tofu or black eyed peas or brown rice was irritating.
B - skipped it
L - BIG salad topped with pinto beans and salsa, a clementine
D - going to have some whole wheat pasta topped with cooked kale and dandelion greens and a cashew cream sauce (will be an experiment in creating recipe not sure what spices I'll use)
Off to cook!

Carla, just saw your post when I hit post on mine. I actually liked knitting when I learned to do it, but I only can do a straight stitch nothing fancy. There's just something soothing about the clickity clickity. Once you get it of course. I remember I took it up as a stop smoking thing, and initially it was stressing me out so much I smoked anyway! LOL

Finally...now, some answers ... keeping good thoughts for you!0 -
Up early...having coffee...need a quick TJ run when they open.
So, I think my schedule is changing...
and I couldn't be happier!
Right now I am at 38 hours a week, three days off. I will go to 35 hours a week and four days off.
Friday and Monday 7am to 7pm
Saturday 8am to 7pm
So I will be off Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
So, this is the closest thing I will get to retirement...since working truly helps make ends meet and it is good for me to stay healthy...I am not good with open-ended free time.
Just waiting for supervisor to check with GM.
Today's Plan:
coffee
juice
oatmeal (flax, blueberries, cinnamon)
some variety of LeafSide. I do not see me re ordering...I grade this a fail, actually.
potatoes and Forager Sour Cream
yogurt
Loving Hut is also in Seattle, Carla. Not sure if you are close.
I had fresh spring rolls and crispy tofu salad yesterday...soooooooooooo good. My first time. I do not think they deliver to my home address ... a little too far.
I am going to have to figure out meals for post surgery. May go the frozen food way...easy to use my Hot Logic...we'll see. Breakfast will be easy...I will prep up lots of baggies of oatmeal...so they will be ready to go.
Wow, Mihani...do you get paid overtime for all this work? Man, not sure that company would survive without your dedication.
Later, my sweets.

Funny about the smoking due to knitting, Mihani. It bugs me that you have to put in so much work. You really need to book and take an entire week off so that your boss and the gang realize just how much time and effort you put in there to keep things running (and of course mainly for you and for your sanity). And you should leave the state so that you aren't in reach!
Too bad about the Leaf Side meals. I hoped you and I would both like them and that they'd be a solution for you post-surgery. We are about 2 hours from Seattle so LH isn't an option for us, but thanks for checking, Nance! We have a few non-chain restaurant options about 30 to 40 minutes away, but unless we're headed that way, it is too long for us to go very often. I hope you will be able to switch to that new awesome work schedule!!! Those are long shifts, but that day off in between should help with that. Fingers crossed!
We woke up around 3am to see if the northern lights were happening in our area using data online. No luck. Joe checked a few other times throughout the night and at 6:45am was our best chance. We stood out in the field for 15 minutes or so but then it started getting too light. I guess we'll have to take a trip some day if we want to see them!
I'm thinking of making that italian 'sausage' cheesy pasta dish again this week. I'll go easy on the serving size and have a big salad first. I'm going to look through the fridge to see if there are any fresh veggies we need to use up first. Since we order online and pick up groceries, I am not aware of what is running low in the store. I hope we can continue to get our staples. We go through a lot of frozen blueberries between the two of us.
I started working my way through an old edition of a well rated college physics textbook the other day. I waited until I finished my Learning to Learn class so that I'm only working on 2 classes at a time. It's a thick text with lots of problems and they emphasize real world applications so I am starting out optimistic. I took intro Physics in college years and years ago, but I think I'll get a lot more out of it now that it is a genuine interest rather than a required class.0 -
Carla...I am already working 7 to 7 on Fridays and 8 to 7 on Saturdays...when I get off at two on Mondays, I think I am going to get so much done and I NEVER DO. So, I figure I might as well be working and have a WHOLE DAY OFF.
It just sounds so much better when I say I have four days off a week. I will still get all benefits...which is dental, vacation, sick leave 5 days, and if I lease a car, car allowance.
Getting up and getting ready for work...it just helps to give me those book ends I need to get things done.
What ALSO is running low is OUR CAR INVENTORY...it's been this way for months. What a freaking mess...and it is not just Cadillac...it's everywhere.0
