@micki48 I think it's great that you took some me time. Maybe you need to assign people cooking nights 😉 hehe that will teach them! I'm also the head chef in our household and it does get old.4

Greetings, Friends!
@kto0194 Your comment couldn't be more welcome! So far this week, as I have weighed myself each morning, I have been astounded to see my weight creep up! It's like actually watching a train crash! Your comment reminded me that I have upped my weights in my workouts and as I lift about 3x a week, I'm naturally getting stronger. Thank you - I don't feel so awful now!
I had a routine mammogram this morning. Even though my radiographer was fabulous - she was sensitive and gentle - I can't help feeling like I've been excessively prodded whenever I have one of these procedures. Luckily, I had already decided on what to have for lunch when I got back, so I didn't end up eating to make up for my sensitivities. When I got home I intercepted the postman on the drive with one solitary letter for me - an invitation to book a cervical smear test! You couldn't make it up!
Christmas decorations are now down - I wonder how long it will take Ben to realise? Spoiler alert - he hasn't so far!

@planemonkey - they make some fun ice cube trays with funky shapes that could make water drinking fun while your machine is broken. Hoping it’s fixed for you soon!

Today started TOM for me with some pretty ~blah~ abdominal cramps, so we’ll see how I feel later to do a workout. Maybe it’ll be a yoga day or a low impact cardio workout after work.
Husband and I are going to go out for dinner tonight but don’t know where yet. I’ve been craving sushi, so maybe we’ll try a new place around us. Tomorrow is my niece’s birthday party, and I’m looking forward to enjoying a slice of cake in that celebration.
This weekend we will be cleaning like crazy, so those calories burned count, right? LOL 😂
Hope everyone has a great Friday! First TGIF of the New Year!7 -

A little loss. YaY! I wasn't totally on target yesterday. This week has been quite a month!! Ha Ha! Today we are celebrating that our school is 75 years old. Our littles are totally off their normal schedules. They are tired and so are all the teachers. These "different" days are harder than a regular classroom day.
Thanks for all the support for my self-care the other night. I knew I could count on all of you to support that. We all should. My hubby made dinner last night. I think tonight will be out somewhere. We are watching my granddaughter while her parents are out.
Like many of you, I think this weekend will involve cleaning and putting away holiday decorations too.
My husband and I are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary this summer (July). We are going to go somewhere. He needs to get a passport, but I don't think he's ready enough to take me to Italy (where I want to go), but I think he'd be up for a visit to Canada. He lived in Newfoundland as a little kid. His dad was stationed there. Any tips or ideas for a general getting to know Canada trip? Not sure we would go all over. I realize how big it is. But maybe eastern parts.
Have a great day friends and do some self-care.6 -
@micki48 That would be so cool if you came to Canada! Newfoundland is fabulous. St. John is a fun town, there are lots of amazing smaller towns and cool stuff like Heart's Content where the first transatlantic telegraph cable came ashore. Seals, mountains, Viking sites - you'd have a blast. Of course, you could see gentler countryside by coming to see me! The Atlantic provinces are great, though. Don't get me started! One of my closest friends (the cellist I played with for 40 years) lives in New Brunswick near Fundy National Park - that one's a beauty as well. I'd meet you over there in a heartbeat! Well, a long day's drive... in any case, congrats for 40 years. That's an anniversary to celebrate for sure.7

The scale finally moved! I weigh most days and the scale had not moved an ounce in well over a week. I don't weigh in until Sunday but I am excited! I'm spending 3 glorious days by myself at the beach this weekend. I packed easy, healthy food, and plan to walk, read, and rest. It's been a wild couple of months!8

Gotta make a pitch for Western Canada too! The mountains are beautiful - I truly live in one of the most breathtaking parts of the country. Lots of good to see in British Columbia too.
So, yes - Canada offers many delightful treasures for you to explore! Hope you'll spend your anniversary here - how special
Way to go on the loss this week too. It's been great seeing you closing your diary and checking in here. 2023 energy!!!8 -
Today was a busy one, and at every turn there was a food event!
I did great in the first one, alcohol was involved in the second one (after work drinks), and by the third one (dinner out with Brad) I was throwing caution to the wind.
It was all tracked, and my other goals were met for today, but I overdid it for sure (and the tracking shows that!)
We are up early tomorrow for a hike, and then we have a nice dinner theatre night out that Brad got me for Christmas. Looking forward to it!
1/5 exercise:
10102 steps
Happy weekending all!7 -
@ashleycarole86 and @jugar Thanks for the ideas for a visit to Canada. I’m excited! Now to get the ball rolling. This hubs of mine needs to get his passport.
Ashley - I’m so impressed with all that being social, you still logged. Great job!
Lots of taking down of decorations around here. I will get a walk in, but my foot has been bothering me a lot. Hope I can manage. Had over 10k steps yesterday. Most of them from our busy day at school. Our kids were tired. New record 12 of 14 kids asleep. (Two were elsewhere)
Hope everyone has a great day.3 -

For once I was satisfied with my loss… it wasn’t a great week nor a terrible one…
Met virtually with a dietician yesterday, optimistic!
I was honest with her and told her how I was a skeptic because I feel like I know what I need to do, but it’s the implementation that I obviously struggle with and her response surprised me. She said I was absolutely right… it’s a little bit about the education, but it’s mainly about the implementation and accountability. We will be meeting weekly. Let’s see how it goes!8 -
@DianaGetsFit512 What you told her could have come right out of my mouth! Looking forward to hearing how it goes
1/6 exercise: 12488 steps
Going hiking today to a hike we've done before but not for a long time. It's not super far away which is good because one of my Christmas gifts from Brad was a dinner theatre show and that's tonight, so we need to get back in time.
Have a fun day!3 -
Saturday! I'm thinking of you on your beautiful hike this morning @ashleycarole86 - really jealous, actually. I think I could go walking with a friend, but I'm still testing positive this morning. It's boring having covid! I feel fine, but the tedium is real.
I like your dietician's take on things, @DianaGetsFit512. I am sure we all know a lot about good ways to eat, but doing it consistently is harder. The more I spend time in vigilance/maintenance, the more it seems to be essentially all about what kind of carbs I eat. Staying away from refined carbs and getting plenty of them from vegetables, legumes, and fruits works well for me. I don't avoid grains completely, but try to have them in whole form. I don't completely avoid sugar either, but try to only have it in homemade sorbet or other treats that do not involve fat or starch. Of course, bread happens, and other flour things, but concentrating my consistency efforts on eating those things only occasionally works for me. So yes, consistency is the key, but I find limiting the range of what to be vigilant about helps make it easier.
Hah! Just after I typed about walking with a friend, my friend texted me to invite me on a walk! This afternoon at 38 -

Yay! Finally a loss! Tried to be more consistent with IF... tried to stay away from boba tea and chocolate (my kryptonite), and eat more raw veggies. Struggling a bit with exercise, and I still haven't gotten a home routine put together. But, I am working on dismantling and putting away Christmas tree and assorted decorations. One trip to storage, and I should have plenty of room. This week, going to try to be better on tracking.

@ashleycarole86 the hike and dinner theater sounds nice! We have a dinner theater here that I have been to a few times, which involves a buffet dinner before the show. Let me tell you, I do not trust myself around buffets right now!
I have had a good week so far! Now to enjoy this weekend! This is the last week of my job at this location and then I will be starting at a location 5 minutes from my house. It will be nice to have an extra 1.5 hours to my day (my commute right now is 45 minutes one way). Plus the gym is close to my house/new job and can decide if I would rather work out before or after work.
@micki48 my husband and I are going on a New England cruise in September for our 5 year anniversary with ports in Maine and Canada. We are looking to start exploring the ports and what excursions we can do for the day.5 -
Looks at all the loses this week!!! Great job team.
Thanks for all the encouragement. The scale was up even more today!!!😭 and my pants feel tight. Sometimes, I feel like the bad eating takes awhile to sneak up on me. I am just going to keep on doing what I need know I need to do.. I didn't snack mindlessly. I am logging. I don't think it is muscle because I haven't done intense lifting.
This month, I am going to try to take a page from @conleywoods and eat 3 meals, no snacks.
@dianaGetsFit512 Your dietician is right. Knowing what to do and applying that every single day are two different things.
@jugar my body is the same way. I do think carbs are important for energy, but we can get those from fruits, veggies, legumes, etc. My body does best with no bread, processed carbs. Unfortunately, I am surrounded by junk and struggle to avoid them.
Tonight, we are finally having date night!!!7 -

@ashleycarole86 Sounds like you have a really nice day planned. I was out walking around today and it was really nice. I bet a full blown hike was super amazing. Dinner theater tonight sounds like a blast. I've only been to one dinner theater as a middle schooler. The entire play revolved around horses and had all types of beautiful horses and drill team horse things. My sister and I couldn't have been happier chowing down in a dirt filled indoor area watching horses 🤣
@jugar I am so sorry you are being bored to death with covid. I hope you have a great walk. I'm working towards a similar carb situation as you eat. I agree, bread happens!
@DianaGetsFit512 Probably the biggest thing I use my wellness coach for is goal setting and accountability. I have also learned so many new things as well that are beyond the basics.
@KellyBgetsfit I'm so sorry your dealing with scale frustration. I'm having good results with no snacks but it is really hard. I am so addicted to carbs and they really call my name. You can do it!
I bought a lumen. It's a little gadget that you breath into and it tells you if you are burning fats or carbs. It then gives you macros based on your metabolism. I just started using it yesterday and my scores aren't that great but better than I expected. The program works well for insulin resistance, intermittent fasting and the no snacks stuff. Macros are also a little different. Still eating tons of protein but a lot less carbs and more healthy fats. I'm getting use to it and my wellness coach is helping me. It takes a lot of dedication to take all the measurements correctly at the right time and log all the food exactly.
Today I did a 30 minute peleton ride on my little folding stationary bike and did a little walk in the woods with my youngest and the dog.8
