@Patti241 So sorry you can't sleep. Do you enjoy reading? Often that helps me, or listening to a guided sleep meditation, such as on YouTube or another site.

@macrat12 Thank you for the post. It says Madison introduced 12 proposed amendments for the Bil of Rights. Do you know which 2 did not make it in?

@Ceriusly1 Love the outside furniture. I always wished I had a yard or porch where I could do outside furniture. Years ago my Dad and I said if my mom passed we would get a swim spa. Nobody thought he would be the one I am caring for and I would never bring anything onto the property that could cause him harm. Looking for some ramps for the house anyone have suggestions?

Loved the patio picture, it is so inviting and relaxing, thank you @Ceriusly1

@Patti241 I found if I put some mediation music (I use Fitbit coach mindfulness relaxation, campfire, coral reef and gentle rain and peaceful music helps me fall asleep.

@colleentalamantes the 2 amendments that didn't make it was the first original amendment which dealt with house of representatives and the 2nd was original 2nd amendment when congress could give itself a raise.

Wishing everyone a great break and a happy practice session and a good week.

These beauties bloomed in my neighbor’s tree. Night blooming cereus is a tropical cactus that blooms only one night a year. We’ve been watching the buds for a week. The blossoms are about the size of my spread out hand.

@SweetPeasMom55 Good to see you! It's sad when our parents get old. They always took care of us, hoping we'd never have to take care of them. Is your Dad a veteran? If so, is there a local veteran,,,h,mm can't think of the word I want. A place veterans gather? We have a number of places they both gather and run. Veterans can ask these places for a lot of various types of help. Many of them will happily have volunteers help with what you are looking for. Also with any aids to help make the house safer which includes spouses etc. Many include the community can also benefit from these. If you call 211 (all states in the US have a state run 211) it's a fantastic resource center for any type of service and or help. I highly recommend them. They'll give numbers etc on how to reach out. I use them, have recommended many clients to them.

Happy Monday. It is a great day, went grocery shopping and Kayla and I went for a walk. Today Kayla is 10 years old. She doesn't like her picture taken especially when I describe her rest. LOL

I also got my first post card on my conqueror walk. Information on walk is under spoiler

When I heard about the ‘City of Presidents’, I was intrigued and wanted to know more. To satisfy my curiosity, I booked a trip to Rapid City, South Dakota, USA.

Nestled in the eastern foothills of the Black Hills mountain range, the city was founded in 1876 by a group of settlers during the Black Hills Gold Rush. As prospectors, miners and entrepreneurs flocked to the area in search of wealth, the city prospered and became an important regional centre for commerce and a transportation hub.

The land that Rapid City occupies, which is within the boundaries of the Black Hills region, was originally inhabited by Native Americans, particularly the Lakota Sioux, who dominated the territory. A treaty was signed in 1868 between the United States and the Lakota Sioux, Yanktonai Dakota and the Arapaho Nation, establishing the Great Sioux Reservation that included the Black Hills. The discovery of gold in 1874 led to the terms of the treaty being broken by the United States, and the Black Hills were eventually taken from the Lakota Sioux.

When the gold rush declined, the city’s economy moved from prospecting and mining to agriculture, ranching, and tourism. The economy was further helped by the establishment of the Ellsworth Air Force Base and the presence of several government agencies, which serve as major employers.

These days, Rapid City is the second-largest city in South Dakota, and its major driver is tourism because of its proximity to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, and the Black Hills National Forest. All attractions I look forward to exploring on my journey.

The highlight of the city is a series of life-sized bronze statues of former presidents from George Washington to Barack Obama. Occupying 43 of downtown’s street corners, the statues were the brainchild of Don Perdue, a local businessman who wanted to “honor the legacy of the American Presidency” and bring some interest to the city’s main streets. The first installation of four presidents took place in 2000, and four more were added each year until 2010. At the time, it was decided that new presidents would only be added after they left office - Barack Obama was added in 2019, and Donald Trump is currently being sculpted. A wonderful feature of these life-sized statues is that each one matches the real president in height and weight, except for one that was trimmed to make the needed bronze more affordable. The sculptor spends significant time researching the habits, mannerisms, and interests of each president, which then helped them decide on the pose, the clothing and the unique details found on each statue, like Thomas Jefferson signing the Declaration of Independence or John F. Kennedy holding a small plane in one hand and his young son’s hand in the other.

As I walk up and down the street, I will spend some time checking out the small details of each president and maybe take a photo or two.

Today I reached my step goal. I had my last exam for

this year last Tuesday, and am now playing catch-up with the rest fo my life. lol Front garden weeded and bark added, the greenhouse has been planted up, the allotment was about knee high this morning, and by 4pm it was almost completley weeded ready for planting out tomorrow!
I'm paraplegic and I use a Garmin fenix watch, and doing a seated aerobics workout ( Lisa Ericson - You tube) a few days agai I noticed that the Garmin was severly overestimatin my HR.. saying that I was averaging 145, with a max of 171… bearing in mind I'm 47, 5'6" and 120lbs…etc, (I dont have 'muscles' from my pelvis down), it gave me an active calorie total of 455 for the 55 mins. lol. So I tried wearing the watch a little higher as I do have skinny wrists, but that didn't help.
So I've bought an H10 polar strap today and repeated the same workout. I averaged 104 and my max was 108. Sadly, that is more like it, so now I know that my garmin is way off in activities where I'm actively waving my arms around.. like aerobics and air boxing, at least I know where I need to try and get my heart rate up a bit more!

    Same workouts…
    Garmin watch…

@Dianedoessmiles1 It helped a lot. It is something I try to do everyday. When I am getting overwhelmed my coworkers even say you need to go do your breathing and refocus. When I think about my breathing. I think fresh air in bad MOJO out. Usually 1/2 way through my thoughts are gone and I'm just focused on the breathing.

Hi - I did round last time with my other MFP account - forgot I had that user name so I changed back to my previous MFP account and now I feel like me again - nrdevers. I am trying to decide if I want to sign up for premium - has anyone tried the new one with the meal planner?

@SweetPeasMom55 I saw your note about ramps for your Dad at your home. When we needed one for my Mom, hubby & I ordered a metal foldable one from Amazon. They have some pretty unique senior equipment items. Smiles Barbie 😊
