@trooworld Ha ha no truer words were spoken , I needed sleep!  I remember you getting a new fridge (it seems like just last year!). Oh well, there is nothing like a lovely clean fridge!!

@TeresaW2024 it is wonderful that you can keep Joe at home . I know that we have access to home care and some people use a day program (people with dementia can go for the day doing different activities). The spouse or caregiver has one day a week where they know they can make appointments or just breathe. It would be wonderful if you could get some support ♥️. I hope the church can see what a practical solution you have come up with!

Checking in today earlier when I still have my brains about me;). Everything that I had scheduled for today was cancelled and it has been lovely!!  I took my puppers out for a great walk this morning. After the heat of the weekend, this morning was only about 70° and breezy, it was delightful!!!  I went to the farmers market at lunch time and got beets, new potatoes, cauliflower, baby carrots,  salad cucumbers and fresh dill.  Yum!!!  I love this time of year 😊.

I am just going to cook up beets and beet greens then wash and put away the rest of my veggies. This will definitely make food sequencing easy and yummy this week:).

@TeresaW2024 Good ! Ugh, fridge had to be repaired (see below). That is annoying about the LED light. :( I'm glad you are going to keep weighing for now, but I understand if it gets too much. Just don't disappear on us! We are here to support you. I hope the church accepts your idea. Big HUGS to you.

@laurelfit57 I hope you got some ! Yes, 3 years ago now we got this "new" fridge. Things just aren't made like they used to be! Nice to have a day where plans are canceled. Sounds like you made the most of it! Good idea to prep the veggies you bought.

Hi all. MFP is doing this annoying thing where I can't copy and paste my responses from Notepad so I have to manually type everything in. So, I will keep my response short as I already typed it! We had drama yesterday: my husband woke up with a bad allergy attack and had to do a virtual doctor visit. He's going to be fine. We had to have the repairman come out: $280 (parts & labor) for a new fan that will be installed today. I was 90 minutes late for work due to the drama lol. Have a good day.

@laurelfit57 We do have daycare here, too, but when Joe was doing better, he wasn’t interested in going, and now he is just too far gone. He has terrible aphasia, which means no one but me can understand what he is trying to say. I do have my sister who can watch him if I have to go somewhere for a short period. I just really pray that nothing happens to me because that would be a nightmare! 😟 I’m glad that you got to enjoy a quiet day with great weather. I’m dreaming of fall! 🍂🍂🍂

@trooworld It is annoying that you can’t use Notepad to copy/paste. I use a Google Doc to post my replies. Would that work for you? I am sorry about your husband having such a bad allergy attack and that you had to pay so much to get your fridge fixed. I hope your day is better! 🙂

Good morning! I had my staff meeting last night, and it went fine, but I was annoyed when I mentioned my issues with getting to the church to drop off the payroll, pick up the contributions, and mail. The pastor decided it needed to be a discussion involving the deacons. They will devise a plan and get back to me. My convenient idea of having my sister help, since she drives by the church all the time and comes home every day, isn’t good enough. Whatever, let them figure it out and make more work for themselves. 🙄 Today, plans are to work out, shower Joe, and do some cleaning. Not sure what will be for dinner yet. I’m so tired of figuring out what to eat all the time. Have a good day! 🙂

    Hi 👋

Well, I am finally finished repotting all my plants. I should probably down size, but that is definitely not happening. A few days ago I washed some cherry pits and let them dry. Yesterday I cracked them open to get the seeds. Now, they are in the fridge for the "stratification" process. I'll plant them between 9/23-10/7. This is exciting, it's the first time I've ever tried to do something like this. I can't wait to see if I'm going to plant a cherry tree in the yard next year.

Last night I splurged on some mexican food and it was so good. I ate more than I should have, but today is a brand new day.

It's going to be upper 80's today, and then we get some relief from the heat. I'm very thankful for that.

I don't really know what I'm going to do today, I'll figure it out as I go.

    Y'all have a great day 😀

    Hello, all!

I am going to take a page out of @baodell17724's book, and share some inspiration.

Mine today comes from James Clear's newsletter.

"Be forgiving with your past self. What's done is done. Take the lessons with you and release the guilt.

Be strict with your present self. Win the moment in front of you right now."

    Here's the whole thing:

@DrewsAnna Oh I really hope your cherry seeds sprout how exciting! I love cherries after reading it I’m tempted to do it too. Hahaha love the joke about downsizing I always say hilarious and ridiculous stuff like that too! Congrats on 15lbs down!

@lislisa123 Got your weigh in thank you!

@TeresaW2024 IT would be nice if the pastor and deacons decided to swing by your house to get the payroll, fingers crossed! The idea with your sister is a good one I’m sure she’d love to be able to do something to help you. Hope the solution isn’t more work for you. It IS annoying figuring out what to eat all the time! Our inner fat girls are friends if there’s cake in the house I’m having it breakfast, lunch, and dinner! So glad you’re sticking with us we need you here, I speak for all the long-term members in this group that it wasn’t the same without you, we love you and want you here with us talking about anything you’d like whether you choose to weigh in or not. I love this group even if someone is being painfully honest with someone else or me it’s always done with love and I know I’ve personally grown both from feedback/support from others and reading how others handle things and applying it. I lean toward weighing in too even if you stay at maintenance so you aren’t giving yourself permission to comfort yourself (it’s what I tend to do since like “sucks” at least I can eat ice cream if I want (no!)).

@trooworld Thank goodness your husband is going to be okay from the allergy attack, that’s always scary to not be able to breathe then if you get anxious it’s even harder. Glad he was able to do a virtual visit. I’m glad the repairman was able to help but yuck for being late to work! I remember when you got that fridge too I think we got our new ones close to each other. That was smart to put the bowl of water in and monitor it. I saw your last post and know it’s fixed, how frustrating that it wasn’t covered! My ice maker doesn’t work and it was looked at while under warranty but kept acting up and now it’s not. It drives me crazy the amount of room the ice maker takes up plus the trays barely fit the freezer is so narrow so I always spill. I need to get that fixed too maybe I’ll call after this and schedule it! There IS something nice about everything being cleaned and organized I love that too. Bummed to hear your Friday craft day isn’t possible.

@laurelfit57 How nice to have everything cancelled and be able to have a mellow day! Your morning sounds so lovely with the walk and market and lovely weather, sounds like you’ll be eating a lot of veggies this next week! I’m glad you and your mom had a good weekend, I’m sorry to hear she’s feeling like it will be her last trip but am happy you all had a great time.

Had a huge scare last night I almost lost one of my foster kittens. Chewy was the hardest to catch in the morning for medicine then he was in a corner in the afternoon and I couldn’t get him out with the wand toy which seemed weird as he loves playing. I peeked in later and thought one of the black and white kittens was him on the opposite side of the room so wasn’t worried but when I came in the room last night he was in that same corner again and seemed real sluggish. I decided to get him out and check on him and he could barely breathe and was gasping for air and his eyes were real watery, he just hung like a limp noodle in my hands and was shaking. I sent a message out that I needed help for him and a more experienced volunteer rushed over while I held his face over steaming peppermint tea and watched kitten CPR videos on YouTube. At first she was relieved and thought it was only a bad respiratory problem as his nose was caked with snot I hadn’t been aggressive enough removing and was checking out all the kittens then she checked again and he had a high fever and the chills so she took him home and got him started on antibiotics and kept him warm. He came back a whole new cat he’s playing, purring, eating, etc. thank goodness. He’s the one that clung to the carrier wanting to be with his friend, thank goodness we took him. Greenhouse was light this morning. Have had a great week diet-wise I’m actually looking forward to weighing in tomorrow! Have a great Th night and Friday.

    Good evening Slimpossibles!

It's been hot here. I've been getting my outdoors time in early, just after dawn.

It's been busy at work. Found that the auditors made an error last year on a capital asset that was scrapped. I need to fix in the current year in order to reconcile the G/L to the depreciation schedule. They of course say it is "immaterial". I wonder if it would still be immaterial if it was my mistake instead of theirs.

Day off tomorrow. But I'm going to the office anyway, very early, because I left a computer (server) running, doing the upgrade/installation of Windows 11. I want to make sure everyone can login OK. I won't stay long.

    Good morning Slimpossibles,

I went to the office at 5am, and the computers had finished the update. But none of the computers could connect to the server. I restarted the server, and it started another update, which took about 10 minutes. Then I had to restart all the other computers to get them to connect. Kathie's computer still won't connect (a permissions issue) so I left a message for the guy who does our network support, I left a note for Kathie, and I came home. 1 hour.

There are still 4 more computers that need to be replaced or updated to Windows 11, but those guys are going to have to take care of themselves.

It looks to be a nice day weather wise. The humidity is gone, it's breezy, and it won't be as hot. I'll enjoy the outdoors for most of the day.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your favorite seasonal summer vegetable?

  • trooworld
    trooworld Posts: 7,868 Member

@TeresaW2024 Today , it's working (thankfully!). It was annoying! I will try Google Docs next time, I didn't think to try that. I don't have Microsoft Office, so I use Google Docs all the time, I don't know why I didn't think to use it! Thank you, all is good now! I'm sorry about how the meeting went. I think you had a good plan. I hope they can figure something out.

@DrewsAnna You are so good with plants , like @Katmary71 !

@AustinRuadhain Thank you for the insightful James Clear quote !

@Katmary71 Oh he could breathe , it was his eyes that were affected, they were terrible! He said he was going to tell people I punched him out lol. Yeah we've only had that fridge for 3 years. That stinks about the ice maker. Sometimes I wish we had an ice maker but then it might break and it takes up valuable space so I think I'm good without one lol. Yeah I'm bummed about craft day, too boooooo! Maybe I'll sneak and do some crafts today while I work from home. :) I'm so glad that Chewy is going to be okay! That must have been really scary. Good job with your diet!

@micaroo4 That's good you caught the error . Ugh, computer stuff, sorry you had to spend an hour there. Enjoy your day off!

    @davors19 @Cornanda Congrats on the losses !

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your favorite seasonal summer vegetable?
Man, I love veggies. I would have to give the crown to TOMATOES. I don't grow them (I tried!), but I remember the distinct difference in flavor between a home-grown tomato and a store-bought tomato. I will always remember that.

Hi all. The fridge is repaired so that's good. Work was nice yesterday: my manager was working from home and the only other person with seniority over me was out for the day...it was just me and two others that don't get in my business lol. Not that I slacked off too much (just a little lol). Tonight after work, we are going to the gym and then to the concert in the park. But first, this morning, I have to go to get a mammogram. I'm very good about getting one every year when it's due.

    Tracked yesterday? Yes

Sweet corn, definitely (though much like dessert, I must eat it sparingly!) followed by Cherry Tomatoes for snacking on!

@19shmoo69 I almost choked on my coffee when I read that. Too funny 😁 😂 😀

    Hi 👋

I didn't really do much yesterday. I'm battling with my sinuses, so I pretty much caught up on my soaps, (I usually only watch them at night) and just relaxed all day.

Today, is kind of cold right now. It's supposed to be in the low 70's today and the next few days, so it's going to be a nice reprieve from the heat. I want to get outside and get some things done.

I'm sharing a few pictures of my flowers that I took on my morning walk about yesterday morning.

    Y'all have a great day 😀

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your favorite seasonal summer vegetable?

Tomatoes! I have a picture of me as a toddler, standing in our garden, tomato in hand with a bite taken out and drips down my front. The love has not worn off. These days, best are heirloom tomatoes, but I eaany I can get, except standard tasteless beefsteak tomatoes (all looks and little taste).

@micaroo4 You sound very busy at work, funny about if it was your mistake. I hope everyone’s able to connect after the update. I hope you have a wonderful time outdoors.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SUMMER VEGETABLE? Tomatoes, I wasn’t a big fan until I grew a plant my Dad was going to throw away and discovered how good homegrown were and went down the rabbit hole learning about heirloom tomatoes that winter. The difference in taste is HUGE.

@trooworld I hope you DO sneak in some crafts today! I agree a good tomato is SO good. Have fun at the concert in the park! Good luck with the mammogram.

@DrewsAnna Oh no hope your sinuses are feeling better, hard to get anything done when they’re bad as energy isn’t great. What nice weather you have there! The flowers are so beautiful thank you for sharing!

Hi friends! Went to the farm this morning and made Thai basil, pesto perpeto, sage, tarragon, and mint bundles with my oldest nephew and dropped off mushroom bags. One of the kittens I should be medicating I haven’t been able to catch, really frustrating as 6/7 are doing real well. My little guy who scared me is doing awesome and showed me his professional muffin making skills while he was curled in my lap yesterday. I feel a nap coming on. I want to make zucchini banana muffins but don’t have a lot of energy so we’ll see. Have a great Friday night and Saturday!

@AustinRuadhain - are you really from Austin, TX? Austin from Austin? How did I miss that. I hope it has stopped raining and flooding. I do remember your bird/plumbing story from the freeze- that was quite an experience

@TeresaW2024 - it's been a long time since I've worked it- but you could request a home health/hospice eval from a provider in your area. Back in the day, we would send someone out to do an assessment and explain what services are available and Medicare would cover it. Grieving while they are still alive is a good way to describe it. Sometimes there are surprising good things about that- for example, my Mom has always been very formal with me and she clearly favors my sister. However, the Alzheimers has removed some barriers and before she got as bad as she is now, she became comfortable expressing her love to me. It's brought me a lot of peace. God loves you and is going to forgive any past sins- not that I actually believe you have any. I hope things get sorted quickly with the church/work issue

@vegan4lyfe2012 - glad your new watch has you up and going. Hope your ME time was awesome!

@trooworld - we got a new fridge last fall- had to replace a 5 year old one that quit. Appliances are getting ridiculous! It stinks that you missed your craft day, but at least work was not too bad.

@FushiaKat - Poor Mike. That sounds awful. I'm glad you are enjoying the trike

@Katmary71 - oh my goodness, you have your hands full with stinky kittens and the sick one sounded very scary. I'm sure their cuteness is helping to balance all this. Yay!!! for a great diet week!

@laurelfit57 - sounds like you are having a busy, busy summer. I'm glad you had a good trip with your Mom

@DrewsAnna - your plants are beautiful. Is your thumb actually green? @Katmary71 - is yours?!

@micaroo4 - "immaterial error" - I think you nailed it regarding that label being related to whose error it was. And now you are working IT too!

    @19shmoo69 - I guess coffee IS a bean….

@baodell17724 - you are right (re: note to self)- and that is what makes this journey TOUGH. You've come a long way and slacker weeks do happen. The key is to get going again. 86 pounds down, +0.4 is smaller than a blip! Remind yourself that you are doing amazing

A few things going on here, but I'm waiting for definite info before I share. Decent week at work. Dinner out with DH last night and then we looked at some furniture. We have several house projects that we need to get working on. Woke up at 3 am today, so I think a nap is on the To Do list today.

    Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

    Lisa
