Anyone here try Turkey Hill's Limited Edition Greek Frozen Yogurt Sea Salt Caramel Truffle? I've seen it in a couple stores and it looks promising but I already have a bunch of ice cream in my freezer. If it's really good then I may pick it up.

Also, just wondering: how many times a week do you guys eat ice cream? I do it 1-2x/week depending on what I'm in the mood for.

I have some pretty much every night. Usually just one serving.

I couldn't have just one, would seem like a tease, but whatever works for you. What's your favorite flavor?

Hmmm, my mom loves Turkey Hill so I'll see if she wants to go for it.

About 3-5 times a week, depending on how many calories are left/other desserts I want. Like tonight, I'm debating between some more of the Graeter's pumpkin pie ice cream or the final slice of actual pie.

Edit: after recording dinner, I don't have enough calories left. Instead, my backup...two Ghirardelli squares.

I'm digging into Turkey Hill's PB Banana ice cream tonight, I may post pics, it's ridiculously good! I highly recommend it if you haven't had it before. Yea I like having some cereal most nights so ice cream doesn't always fit. Sorry to hear ice cream didn't fit tonight. Pro-tip: put your bowl in the freezer so the ice cream doesn't melt as fast when you eat it.

Personally I'd rather have a small serving of lots of different foods. Most of the time I find that I'm not any more satisfied by a large serving of something than I would be by a small one. I realize most people aren't that way. *shrug*

Right now Haagen Dazs Pralines and Cream is my favorite. I've been mostly alternating between that and Talenti Sea Salt Caramel lately.

Sounds good! Yep, people are different so do what you enjoy. I've never tried that Haagen Dazs flavor but Talenti Sea Salt Caramel is delicious, great base.

I had olive oil gelato tonight, served with a little chocolate glaze added to it, and candied orange peels.

This has been one I've been wanting to try but haven't. I know I will love it. I thought you weren't a fan of pecans?

Just the pie. I like pecans for themselves.

Bought some Sea Salt Caramel Talenti after work today and was all set to give it a go tonight. Then my mom asked if I wanted to go to Target, and I found this:

It is so rich and so good. I'm happy.

I rescooped Talenti's Sea Salt Caramel tonight and man, it has been way too long. This stuff is like crack! Rich caramel base, and the truffles put it over the top. I don't know why it has been so long since I've had this last, but it is definitely becoming a more common event that's for sure.

I really like this brand, Giffords. I've tried a couple of flavors. I almost didn't give it a 2nd chance after try Maine Blueberry. This flavor was [/b]Golden road butter brittle[/b]. The ice cream did dominate the peanut brittle. The ice cream was sweet but I'm cool with that. They had this on sale, 2.99 for I think 1/2 g, I don't pay attention to that. Usually it's like $6.

    vYenRrB.jpg?1
    lfYssFY.jpg?1

    I purchased 3 flavors.

Chocolate toasted coconut. I tasted it but I'm not a huge coconut person. Dora said it was good. I'll get a review from her later.

Butter Brickle!? I have been on a quest for that since the original ice cream/gelato thread began... it is one of my favorite flavors from my childhood and I can't find it anywhere! Cupcake said Turkey Hill makes one, but I don't have that anywhere near me, nor have I ever seen Giffords... sniff, sniff..

Had to run to the store on the Weds before Thanksgiving to pick up a couple of last minute things. Actually, I chose to go because I was in the area of a different grocery store that I thought carried Jeni's ice cream, I was disappointed to find out they did not have Jeni's. However they did carry Steve's, and that's the first time I've seen that anywhere around me. I bought a pint of the Chili Chocolate and a pint of Cold Brewed Cinnamon Coffee (sorry MrM). I haven't cracked them open yet, because to be honest, I've become a bit of an ice cream hoarder too - I need to build a fort and take a pic - I think I have two unopened pints of Talenti, two pints of Graeter's, and now two pints of Steve's...

Anyway I remember Steve's being discussed but I don't remember the consensus on it in general or those flavors specifically...

Found Turkey Hill's Malted Chocolate Chip at Wal-Mart today & had to buy it. I had ate some of the Talenti Peppermint Bark for breakfast, but decided to squeeze in some more calories to try this flavor. The flavor has a nice creamy malt taste & a lot of little malt ball mix-ins to crunch on.

I also bought Ben & Jerry's Milk & Cookies flavor to try tomorrow.

Anyone find the Talenti Raspberry Cheesecake flavor at Giant yet?

My Wal Mart doesn't have Turkey Hill. I wonder if they'd have the malted chocolate at Target. I still have Whoopie Pie and Pumpkin Pie in the work freezer. Someone might smack me. I need to go back to see if I can get the Hazelnut Talenti. I can't believe all the posts I've missed!

I've been tired. In fact, my brain is fried from a stupid amount of stats work tonight...

Let's see, at the end of dinner, where we had a 13 course tasting menu, we were served a brilliant little dish of olive oil gelato, garnished with a "house made" chocolate syrup and candied orange peels.

Technically, I'll start with the chocolate syrup. It was at best, a sophmoric attempt, it was a singular note of fairly waxy and cheap chocolate, based on my experience, it was probably Callebaut's 60%. It was truly the low point, it had been melted at too high a temp, and had sugar added, resulting in a grainy texture. However, they did use the right amount of added oil, so it became a fairly well done "crackle".

The candied orange peels were excellent, they had been soaked in some sort of an herbal liquer prior to drying and candying. I could eat a pound of them. Nice and chewy like dried orange peels, but with crystalized sugar on the exterior like candied ginger. I'd love a jar of them for my whisky at home.

Finally, the gelato. Texturally, it was well done. Obviously a whole milk gelato, and after I guessed to my waiter, he confirmed it was a raw milk gelato. It had a level of mouth feel and a slight sweetness to it that you don't have from pasteurized milk. It was thick, and coated the tongue well without being too dense. The sugar level was for a more adult palate, in that it was so low that you could still taste the latent sweetness of the milk. In the scale of sweetness, it was the least sweet item in the bowl. Finally, the olive oil itself. I think this had a significant contribution to the thick but soft feel in the mouth. It also imparted a pleasantly fruity olive taste, however it lacked any acid balance or nuttiness from the olives to balance it out. Rightly, the added the orange peels to work a solid balance there.

All in all, for the small town I live in, for any regional chef to have attempted this is unique, and their product was certainly well received, and easily some of the most creative stuff in town. Personally, I would have replaced the chocolate drizzle with a nicely aged balsamic vinegar dizzle, and I would have amped up the olive oil flavor by adding olive oil mixed with maltodextrin as a garnish.

I paired it with a Bourbon cocktail comprised of 4 roses bourbon, Dolan's vermouth, and a spruce bitters.

@MrM27 - better? I haven't written out this much of a critcism of a single dessert dish since I was in culinary school. lol.

Good to hear! I tried a spoonful and it tasted really good, I'm excited to have a solid bowl of it. Hah good stuff, ice cream every night is always a good bet.

I just tried a good amount last night and holy crap, this stuff is legit! I normally discount non-premium brands but TH hit the nail on the head with the Sea Salt Caramel Froyo. Definitely going to be a staple in my freezer.

Tried the Steve's Cold Brewed Coffee and Cinnamon the other night. I loved it at first, but by the end of my serving, I found it a bit grainy, as cinnamon ice cream can sometimes get. I also didn't taste as much coffee as I was hoping for. This was my first Steve's ice cream, so I am hoping the Chili Chocolate is a little better, I have high hopes!
