First day of a three day holiday weekend and I binge watched Netflix ALL day long. Call it 15 hours doing nothing at all.

Strike that... I made many trips to the kitchen. Eating, while not totally out of control, was certainly off the books.

I don't know why but I'm more sore this morning, doing nothing yesterday, than the day after shoveling tons of gravel.

OK body, I get the message. Eating will still be off book for the rest of the holiday weekend but I won't be a lump in the chair all day. Today I move.

Twice as many steps as Saturday. A little surprised at another 0 active minutes as I did some welding with my son after lunch. Thought that would be good for 20 or so, but nada.

Well, I'll get some active minutes today. Have two bags of fertilizer to put down on my Mom's yard today if this rain ever lets up.

    TDEE: 2,420 cals
    Steps: 6,437
    Active Minutes: 0

Mowed our first yard and then the rains hit. Waited out two and a half hours (while eating a second breakfast) then drove to the far west side of town and tried to get some more yards under our belt. Had to stop after just two more. Conditions just too poor for quality mows. We could have just hacked away at it the rest of the day, leaving ruts, mud lines, and grass too wet for the mowers to cut evenly (as many companies did), but we packed it in at noon.

Short week AND a rain-out. Gonna be some kind of week all right. Crossing fingers we don't get even more rain this week. (60% chance on Saturday, which we will be working.)

And the cherry on top... Heat Index predicted to be in the triple digits again today.

    TDEE: 4,030 cals
    Steps: 27,602
    Active Minutes: 149

Mowed in light rain for first three yards. Then misty drizzle for next couple. Sun came out after lunch and brought the steam bath. Still, didn't make triple digits on Heat Index. Just 95 around 4pm.

Almost pleasant by the time we knocked off... 7:30 pm, and then thirty minute drive back to the shop and unload the truck. Clocked in at 7 am. Clocked out at 8:30 pm. Nothing like a 13 and a half hour day in the Summer heat and humidity.

Looking at another grind today, and again tomorrow... assuming we don't get rained out... again. (Sorry, 5 hours sleep and I blew my calorie budget by a couple of hundred last night.)

And, thankfully, this short week is done. Beautiful day. Rains never even threatened. Sun, little breeze, warm temps but not horrid. The kinda day that makes me glad I retired the white collar and took on a blue collar job.

    Life IS good!

Absolutely gorgeous morning!! Overnight rain cooled things off nicely. Paid for it with another bump to mugginess when morning heated up into afternoon. Rain threatened after lunch but held off. Finished day list and back to shop by 6:30 pm. Just a typical 11 and a half hour day.

I don't get Active Minutes. Sweated buckets three different times; working on skid-steer, fixing siding on my Mom's house, and working on a hedge trimmer.

Heart rate shows 91 minutes in the fat burn zone (>95 bpm) for the day, with peak rate near 112 bpm, yet my FitBit gives me 0 active minutes? WTH?!?

Saw 99F Heat Index just after lunch.2:30 PM and nine clients left on the day list when torrential down pour. Like, can't see the front of the truck. Cell not that big but not moving, and all the yards we have left are inside.

[sigh] At least it broke the heat for the day.

    Interesting day.

The Yin: Got our skid-steer running while waiting for boss to show with mowing list. Been working on it (on and off) for about a week.

The Yang: Running down highway to second mow, thought I smelled anti-freeze. All gauges showed normal, so could have been some passing car. Pulled up to client and steam is pouring out of engine compartment. Mowed yard while waiting for steam to dissipate. Turned out to be heater hose at water pump had split. Able to trim off three inches and reattach. Refilled radiator from clients hose. Back on road in less the 25 minutes... including mow.

Finished day's mowing list, including the leftovers from day before's rain out.

Saw 100F on the Heat Index. Today is suppose to be hotter.

The Yang: Weather service has extended heat advisory through weekend :(

The Yin: Boss says too hot to work this weekend ;)

FitBit says I spent 4 hours and 51 minutes in the Fat Burn Zone (95-130) and 11 minutes in the Cardio Zone (130-160) with a Peak HR of 148 just before lunch.

Another 102F HI, me watching the heat from inside AC for a change.

Back out in the heat today. A bit cooler today with 50% chance of rain.

Bad news: new battery won't be delivered until Friday. :-(

Picked up my laptop from the computer shop yesterday morning while waiting for rain to let up. Happily paid $39 for diagnostic. Saw their estimate to 'fix' my computer.

$75 for battery and $99 labor... LABOR??? To plug in the battery? REALLY?!?

Laptop battery I ordered form Amazon came in yesterday, Popped it into the laptop and plugged charger in. Battery charge light came on (a good sign). Looks like the tech guy was right. Just a bad battery. Been happily playing around on the computer ever since.

$40 for the diagnostic, and $50 for the new battery. All is good.

Laptop charge system still acting a little hinky so crossing fingers it doesn't get any worse.

Quick catch up on daily numbers for the week (probably won't format well at all):

    TDEE: 2,081 3,730 3,074 3,387 3,692

Mange to not drown this last week what with all the rain (lost a day and a half and got wet to the bone several times). And now looking at another killer hear wave coming next week. Heat Indexes are predicted to be well into the triple digits every day.

Heat Index 104F. Yup, that is warm for sure. Thursday is hump day for the heat wave. Then it is suppose to... wait for it... yup, rain some more.

Heat wave, followed by torrential rain, followed by heat wave, followed by torrential rain, followed by... Pattern just has to break soon, right?
