@hkristine1, my ride went well although a bit nerve-racking! There were about 70-100 riders, all different types of bikes and riding levels, rolling down a major avenue in Miami... at night!! Safety in numbers, thankfully! The idea is to make motorists aware that there are cyclists sharing the road and that they need to be aware of them. The flip side is that cyclists were getting educated as well by more seasoned riders as to what the law is and how you need to ride when sharing the road with many cyclists and motorists. Our city is (relatively speaking) very bike friendly, but there's still a fair amount of car v. bike rage. It's kind of understandable, as I get mad at some of the bikers, even when I am on my bike! Some of them can really be aggressive and horrible. On the other hand, some drivers are entitled "this is MY road" jerks. It's good to create awareness! As they said in Oklahoma, "Oh the farmer and the cowman should be friends."0 -
