Hi friends. Glen is not getting worst, but not getting better at this point, so moved appointment up to tomorrow and going home in the morning to have him seen tomorrow afternoon. I can't stand to see him laying around like this.

Janet- Thanks for asking. You keep on pushing yourself with all your trials and are a motivation person for us all.

JJ and I had some personal time this morning out shopping. Afterward Jason, JJ and Izzy and I went to an Amusement Park trying to beat the rain but alas, it got us. Izzy was able to get on the child's Ferris Wheel, which was her biggest request. She was so cute. They had a neat Arcade so we went inside and they loved earning all the tickets. Izzy hit a jackpot on one game and won 360 tickets!! They have really had a ball. I just wish my poor Glenn had been able to participate more. He has been laying in the bed all except for joining us for dinner last night. I am soooo praying that it can be lanced and drained tomorrow in the office, if not that, outpatient at the hospital this week. Of course, the worst case scenario is the admission to the hospital with surgery and the IV antibiotic therapy, like last year. Let's pray not.

    I best be going,

    Karla

Karla, so sorry to hear that you have to cut your vacation short but even more sorry that Glennis going through this again. I will send up some prayers that a simple drainage in the office and antibiotics will do the trick for him. Maybe catching it earlier this time will be his saving grace. Will the Jason et al stay on for the rest of the planned vacation?

TRX was a booty kicker, but I think I am getting back to where I was before vacation. Every time I feel like I can do it all without too much didpfficulty she kicks it up a notch....but I think that is how it is supposed to go, lol. Really enjoyed my new sparking windows when the sun set tonight!

Until tomorrow, I bid you all sweet dreams.

    Hi Ladies-
Drum roll please- down an entire pound! Feeling so happy about this number today. :)
I'm mindful of portion size and doing primarily simply filling which for the former WW's power foods- aka whole foods. A walk after work is planned for tonight as the sun is shining and it is already nice outside.
Karla- I pray all will go smoothly today for Glenn- will they have some idea why it came back?
Patti- you're blessed to have this time with your sweet mother- chuckled at the sparkling window mention.
Janet- hope you're feeling a bit more like you!
Need to run and get busy at the day job but wanted to share.
    Until later

Good morning friends- can't wait to get home and get Glenn to this colon-Rectal Specialist. The other was a general surgeon last year so this one is more in this area.

Cindy- yes, we are hoping to learn more. Congrats on your great loss! I love simply filling!! Good for you .

Patti- I have seen that advertisement for those Wow towels and glad to know they work. My Windows could sure use them. I think I will order them for my housekeepers! lol .

I'll post after our visit today. Thanks for all your prayers.

Quikc hello before heading out for most of the day.

Cindy, happy dance being done here. Brava!!!!!!!

Karla, be safe -- I see you'll be driving in yucky weather. Keep us posted.

Off to run errands, then go to the hospital and take my low-dose radioactive iodine pill. The low-iodine diet and the shots the last two days have prepared any remaining thyroid &/or cancer cells to take up the iodine so they can see it on Friday's scan. Will be glad to get it over with.

And when I get the OK to stop the low-iodime diet, I am buying shrimp. And take-out sushi. And having yogurt, maybe even an ice cream cone. I'm a REBEL!

Have a lovely day, ladies. Back later.

    Good morning,

Cindy, WAY TO GO. I know seeing that movement on the scale is a great feeling. I have not braved a hop on yet. But know I need to face it sometime. I am doing well with my food and exercise and can't stand the thought of no. Overeat on the scale. So for now I am flying blind, but at least I am light enough to fly, lol.

Karla, sending healing vibes for Glenn. Hope you like the specialist and that he gives you some viable treatment and answers. Will pray this is Glenn's last go round with this problem.

Janet, the end is in sight and I can see you with all your goodies piled high around you, a look of pure glee on your face.

Have some errands to run with Edd. Then a trip to Costco, hair appointment, dinner and Zumba......and Nashville!

    Hello....hello....hello......

Where did everybody go. I feel so lonely!

Karla, hoping Glenn did not need to be admitted to the hospital, worrying about him and you.

Got all my planned errand done, taxes picked up and mailed in. Hair destriped and shorter. Great dinner and Zumba. Almost 13K steps today, so feeling pretty good. Hope to see a few check ins next time I stop by. The echo in here is deafening, lol

Hi, Patti - I'm here. Feeling a bit punk but OK, considering. Must drink lots for the next few days and suck on lemon drops to keep salivary glands active. The cats are being sweet.

Time to watch the Warriors game - see you tomorrow.

    Hi Ladies-
I'm here too- it has been a bit quiet lately with our little group.
I had a great walk yesterday- and got in 7800 steps total for my day- the best day I've had in several weeks. Went to be empty feeling last night so at 9 decided rather than tempt the cabinet evasion tactic just went to sleep. LOL
Em is coming over tonight for dinner and a sewing lesson- winding bobbins and practice sewing. She's anxious to get started on her apron but she needs to get comfortable with the machine first. The pattern she bought has gathering and lots of fancy things- only my Emily would pick a hard apron for a first project.
Meg to a FT job- and a PT 10 hour a week social media job. Doing the happy dance.
We talked about her stepson yesterday and how she has taken over all the time. Her husband is upset as Megan is making him feel like he shouldn't be involved. I reminded her that she needs to be a good step-mom but Randy is his father and when he's home- he needs to be primary right now. He needs to learn how to be a parent as he's been absent from this boy's life for almost 9 1/2 years. She said she understood but who knows. I am worried about this entire situation.
Janet- How are you feeling today? Do you have to drink something other than water for a few days- the scan WILL be clear!
Patti- I always chuckle when I read your destripe comment- so cute and so you
I'm headed to Orlando Wed/Thursday next week for work. My friend who proof reads my books and her husband are headed to Orlando to have dinner with me. Haven't seen her in person in far too long.
Karla- how are you and Glenn-

Need to get back to the day job-Have a sparkling sunshine filled day everyone!

Good Morning, Ladies.....Today is my last visit for the week. I've been super busy. I saw my surgeon this week, and he released me. He said my back is healing nicely. I can work out with machines, attend my cardio class, and also do yoga. I can also work in my flower beds. I'll take it easy, though, and won't jump into everything at once.

With the 3 student teachers I have, one is excellent, one is ok, and one waits until the last minute to hand everything in. Just like many of the students I had in class over the years, they are just older! :o) Have a great day everyone!

Cindy, your life seems to be filled with mostly happiness right now. I would be like Em and choose the hardest pattern for my first project, lol. I hope Meg is able to take a step back so that Randy can learn to be a parent. Such a difficult situation for all but I think the poor little guy is probably suffering the most. Keep your sparkle going. I have a workout tee that says "I don't sweat I sparkle". What treat that you get to meet up with your friend, however briefly. Cherish every minute with her in person.

Bert, great news from your surgeon's visit. Just in time for your gardening to begin. I bet your procrastinator is driving you crazy. No matter where we go in life those same 3 people are present.

Off to the gym for circuit, then some stuff around the house before returning for TRX. This is my toughest day but it ends with date nite with Edd watching the Blacklist.

Karla, if you are reading I am praying things are going well for Glenn and you are just too tired to post. I am the eternal optimist so hopes it helps.

Janet, hope you feel a bit better today, if not lay low and stay close to the bathroom for all the liquids you have to drink. Enjoy your lemon drops, makes me pucker just thinking about them. I had a blocked salivary duct years ago and they did the trick.

Enjoy your day, hope we have news soon from those we have not heard from in a while.

Good morning all. Here is the update on Glenn. We saw the Colon-Rectal specialist yesterday. He tried to aspirate the area and there was no liquid or pus in the cavity. He said we caught it early before the body filled it in. He said he felt pretty certain there was a fistula involved and we went for a CT scan yesterday too. We are to hear the results of that today and are already set for surgery at noon tomorrow pending the evidence of where this fistula is located. We had previously researched this condition and knew of the fistula possibility. Glenn further researched it and found an excellent article on this condition and it was almost verbatim what this physician was stating. I really didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling for this young doctor, but Glenn did. We will see what today brings. Thank you all for you caring thoughts and prayers.

Janet - I concur with Cindy that your scan will be clear and you will be able to lead your life free and clean. Your kitty-cats are so sweet and loving, as you are to them.

Patti- Your life is so complete with your Mom there, your friends, husband and daughter. I am so happy for you.

Bert - Yep, sounds like you have the variety of student teachers that are the variety of actual teachers that are out there teaching. LOL. You have mentored and taught them the correct way my friend. Congrats on being released and great thoughts on taking it slowly on your exercise and working in the garden/yard.

We had a fabulous time with the grandkids and Jason and Angelique. I enjoyed the bike rides and the beach. We ate out twice, once at Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant and the other at the Acme Oyster House, both great. We hit the beach on Monday, the only really sunny day. Izzy was the most fun that enjoyed everything. She did her child's Ferris Wheel and rode a dragon horse on a carousel. She then did a child's walk where she wore a harness, like JJ and Chloe did, except theirs was over 50 feet up. JJ and Chloe were fearless, they even did a big bugne jump too. LOL. Jason was like a big kid. We did two Arcades and the one at the Baytown Wharp was very high tech. Izzy hit the jackpot at one and she was so tickled. Anyway, back to reality today with my clients.

Glenn had me rolling laughing last night though. I must share. It may be TMI though. I was laying on the couch watching Nashville and he in the recliner in his underwear, and he felt his area and said "OMG , this place has gotten huge!!", he got up and said come feel it. I said come over and let me see it. He said just feel it through my underwear. I felt it and told him to go shower and he came back laughing with a wad of gauze in his hands saying "honey, why didn't you tell me he put this in there?" I have been giggling ever since. We needed a funny. TMI.

Good morning ladies! I imagine my morning, though, is your afternoon? at least for some of you. Well, hubby quit his job. He has spent years telling people never to quit until you have a new position, and what does he do? Thankfully his boss is willing to keep him on the payroll for a few weeks without his actually working there and he is working hard at applying for jobs, but there is no guarantee he will have one right away. He was just so very miserable. We always say he can sell anything, but what he didn't realize is how pushy you have to be to sell insurance and that just isn't him. He likes to build relationships and go from there and that just isn't how insurance works.

Miss Alanna met with a speech therapist who got her to say a few words in a very short amount of time. She said there isn't really much they can do for her because she has the capacity to speak. She did give Andrea some tips to encourage Alanna to speak, though. I have been saying from the beginning that she doesn't talk because she doesn't want to. I am so looking forward to hearing her talk to us (for real, not the "babble" she chooses to use).

Karla - I am so very much hoping this will be an easy procedure and then done and over with. Praying for Glenn and you. Laughter is such a good release; thanks for sharing  It also sounds like Jason is doing better; glad to hear the good time you and your family had on your trip.

Patti - I don't color my hair so I didn't "get" the destriping comment until Cindy's post...LOL. As you mention all the classes you are doing I think you must be one kick a** lady...nobody better mess with you, eh? I hope that I can be for my girls what your mom is for you. I love to hear of your relationship and your time with her.

Cindy - Parenting is hard. I don't envy Meg's position; can't say that I blame her for just wanting to be in control but you are right that the boy's dad needs to parent him as well. I hope they can find some sort of balance in the situation. Other than that it sounds like things are going very well for you, yay!!!

Janet - aren't you sweet <3 We sure think Alanna is something special. I am excited for Avery to grow up a little so we can spend a little more time with her as well. Sounds like the process for the test is quite complex, but I hope your results are completely clear and you can put it all behind you; love your running list of things to eat when you are through it!

MaryLynn - I am picturing you "pumping iron" like a pro! I think Vancouver Island isn't that far from us (we are in the NW corner of Oregon) so it does make sense that our weather is similar. We are hoping to take Alanna (and any other grandkids we are blessed with) on many hikes and as she gets older we hope to take her camping as well.

This week was test week at Corban so I have a stack of tests to grade and videos to watch. I've included one here (shhh....don't tell the kids I shared it). This is one group of one of my classes; they are doing Foxtrot, Swing, and Tango

Hope you all have a wonderful day
    Grace and peace to you

    Good morning ladies,
Just checking in on all here and pleased to read about happenings in all your lives. Yesterday our labrador Sadie turned 10 years old. Amazing she's doing so well, considering she was born in Mexico. We lived there full time for 5 years and she had her share of ticks and health scares during that time. She is probably a little heavier than she ought to be at the moment, but then so am I! Although she has a few lumps and bumps and itchy ears, she's pretty good! Our setter Kelly has been off her food for a bit, so we had her all checked out and she's just fine according to the blood work at the vet. Guess she's just being fussy! I can relate to that! I recall how fussy I was with most veggies as a child and now I include them with everything.

Karla, so glad that you are finding laughter within the crisis! Without a smile and a laugh, we would likely all struggle through life unnecessarily. Will continue to keep you both in my prayers as you await the CT scan results. Early intervention has hopefully lessened severity. Sounds like the kids and you found plenty of fun activities and that always makes me smile! Personally I'm not good at rides and heights, so I probably couldn't even watch them bungee and certainly would decline the opportunity to participate.

Bert, what a relief that the surgeon has given the "go ahead" to your full slate of movements. Wise to take it slowly and listen to your body as you begin to incorporate a wider range of activities that you enjoy again. You sure have been kept hopping lately with all your extra duties and hopefully soon that will settle down into a slower-paced summer routine for you. Staying involved in our community is great for the mind and psyche, which is just as vital to overall well-being as physical fitness. I applaud your commitment to diverse activities!

Patti, well done on getting in 13K steps AND the Zumba AND the TRX. Phew!! Your energy levels are excellent, so I hope you are feeding all that expenditure with plenty of protein, girl! It is always inspiring to read about your activities, including time spent with your Mom. Looking forward to seeing some of your painting results too. I've been a watercolor artist for 30 some years and still love the freedom of pigment flow on my favorite arches rough 300lb. papers. Good advice to purchase the best brushes and I'm sure you will find the right combination for you personally. I still love the angle flats with synthetic hairs, because they are so versatile. I have a large natural hair "mop" brush for laying washes down quickly too. My favorite is a round sable #4 that always comes back to it's original shape and holds a point really well for fine lines. With your creative design eye, you are bound to have hours of fun!

Cindy, in addition to your commitment to finding the best program for input, you are also getting in the activities and movements that fit for you, so it's no wonder that congrats are in order on the scale movement for you! Wonderful to hear that the time you are spending sewing with Em continues to be enjoyable for you both, as well as productive. I remember in 4-H classes that my first sewing project was an apron and remember struggling to get all those gatherings to stay in place. Patience is required to be sure! Your chat with Meg sounds like a breakthrough of sorts, so my prayers continue for positive changes to follow shortly in their lives as behaviors can always be adjusted over time. Let's hope so, for the sake of all. Well done on staying out of the cabinets at night and heading to bed instead. I need to do more of that too!

Janet, I've been thinking about you so much lately as you go through the low-iodine regime. It will be so nice to have that all behind you sometime soon I pray! When you are able to include some favorites again it will be such a relief, no doubt! Your inner strength to go through this is remarkable and you deserve some special reward (a new ring perhaps?) or even a medal for just going the distance of this marathon. As you keep moving forward, know I'm with you!

To everyone else, wherever you may be, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as well.

    Hugs to all,
    MaryLynn

    hello OMG ladies.
a quick hello to tell you i'm still here and thinking about each one of you. I had to put myself in a computer time-out. my smart phone must be logging into MFP for me because i haven't logged in for a couple days now. I just had to step back and convince myself that my goals are currently unattainable and i need to drop back and punt. and re-focus on something i have some control over. such is life.
please know that each of you have my support in the various struggles our group is facing. i apologize for my absence....... it does not equate apathy.
hugs, grace & peace, strength, faith.... and smiles,

Karla, so relieved to hear from you. He one thing I know from my years as a nurse, surgeons are rarely warm and fuzzy. Sometimes you bond but mostly they are pretty cut and dry (no pun intended) and the more specialized, the less fuzzy. Much more important is that Glenn seemed to like him. Keeping my prayers going that his surgery is quick, relatively painless and he has a short and full recovery.
Although the trip was not the break Glenn needed it certainly sounds like it was for you and the rest of the clan. Sometimes you have to be thankful for what you can get and time with family is everything.

Jeanette, so sorry to hear about your husband's job situation but life is hard enough without having a job you hate. Hope he finds something quickly that lets his true charm show through. My son has been in office supply sales for many years, it is a dying business. He could sell ice to Eskimos, not sure he hasn't lol. He just changed jobs and is now in a service position. Our best friend has been with this company for 25 years and they have been a very good company to work for. My son seems very happy being out of sales. He is like his Dad, very good at fixing things. My husband worked for Xerox for 35 years.
Thank you for sharing your students' video. I was so ready to join them. I would have been the girl with the pigtails and vest. Always putting a little swing to my booty and camping it up a bit. On the hair thing, I am almost completely gray, started in my early 30s. I was, about 50% gray by 40 and started coloring my hair then. I would love to give it up but I am very olive skinned and light hair, especially white looks horrid on me. So as long as I am able I will continue my monthly destriping ritual. I am there for a cut anyway, my hair grows really fast!

Mary Lynn, hello there, happy to see you. How great to get good reports from the vet on your precious dogs. My Great Dane will be turning 7 next month. She is still super active and healthy, so keeping my fingers crossed that she will have a long life like my 4 previous Danes, who lived to be 11+ each.

Myra, sometimes we just have to step back and reasses our world. Find what works for you, and that you can live with. Take the pressure off yourself and go with what your body is telling you to do. Hope you find your balance. Been missing you, but we will be here when you need us for sure.

Edd took me out to lunch today....total surprise. Went to his favorite poolhall and bar. Best danger burger I have had in a very long time. But I am over full, good thing today is double duty at the gym, gonna need it to work that one off.

    Hi Gals-
Quick stop but wanted to say to Jeannette- My oldest nephew didn't speak until at least 4 years of age- he just didn't want to. Turns out he has an extremely high IQ, an Eagle Scout just to name a couple of things to put your mind at ease. Some children just do everything in their own time. So feel free to share with your daughter.
    See you later.

Hi, everyone -- Waiting for word from Karla too.

Feeling OK today, just a bit fatigued. Cindy, I can drink anything I want (fun fact -- alcohol doesn't contain iodine but haven't had any while on this diet). Wish I knew how to sew -- bet Em will pick it up quickly. Very happy for Meg's employment situation and thinking only the best for the situation with Randy and her stepson. How cool that you get some personal fun on a work trip -- always a good thing when that happens.

Bert, wonderful news from the surgeon! Pacing yourself is smart -- helps avoid muscle spasms and keep pain level down. Stretching is always a good thing.

Patti, I need de-striping too and will get it done later this month.

My niece in OR sent me three photos in the mail -- two of Caleb with live bunnies (one I posted on FB) and one of the three of them that my brother took on Easter. I love them so much!

Too much tribulation swirling in my world -- one friend's son desperately needs substance-abuse treatment and can't find a place that has an opening. Another was to have oral surgery today but they found more issues so they didn't get it all done. Geez -- I feel for them both. And another friend just got out of the hospital. But good news about my mother-in-law (ex's mom will always be my MIL). She starts chemo next week, then will have several weeks of radiation, M-F, then more chemo. She seems to be doing well and is getting strength back after her huge surgery. It's scary but she is one tough (in the best way) woman and has excellent care.

Sucking on Lemonheads to keep salivary glands going here and drinking assorted non-caloric beverages. Today's craving is a cheeseburger -- haven't had one in over a year. By this time tomorrow my scan will be over! I've created a playlist of relaxing, mostly classical music to listen to -- music makes it easier for me to lie still. Copland is heavily featured -- this time of year I'm especially drawn to his work.

Hoping more of the gang is able to check in later. Big hugs to everyone -- it's almost the weekend!

Texted Karla and heard back -- they did a CAT scan on Glenn and the image showed a fistula; surgeon will do a repair tomorrow. Because it was caught early, Karla said it should be a brief procedure. Taking the liberty of posting this because she's exhausted and may not have time to check in here.

Sending prayers up for a quick, lasting fix.

Just made time to check in on EagleCam -- wow, those two little ones are growng rapidly!

I LOVE the "de-striping" phrase! :p Myron is my stylist and colorist here and with the blonde, the pale stuff doesn't show up quite as quickly! We just got back from an afternoon hike here and boy was it warm out already, so it didn't take long at all to shed the jackets and sweat our way back up the hills home.

Janet, it seems that troubles are definitely circling in your world and that can make it even tougher to lay low. It is a harsh reminder of the struggles of so many when I hear that there are no openings in treatment centers for your friend's son. Can they find anything out of state perhaps? Is that covered by any health plans? What a tragedy when this hits families we care about and what a reminder of how vulnerable we are as human beings. With all the health issues facing other friends and relatives, as well as yourself... I agree that classical music is just the ticket! Hugs right back at you, my friend!
