I'm sorry I don't get to play with this new, seemingly somewhat eclectic, team of players....
In a couple of days, I'll be going "off the grid" for a while, as I return to "work". I might pop in from time to time (if and when I can get access) to cheer you on, and to remind you that:IT'S ALL ABOUT DOING THE CHALLENGES!!!
But, in the meantime, I'll just leave you with:
-GO TEAM 5!!!
Awe... we will miss one of the best cheerleaders Team 5 has had!! Make sure to stop in and say hello0 -

I like it! Although Holy Walkamolies is something I say all the time, so I've got to submit at least one vote for that one!3 -

I saw this! Hopefully it will help me lose my last 19 pounds... I track my weight though and it seems as though I have only been averaging 3-4 pounds lost a month. On that track I will be hopefully able to get to within 10 pounds of my goal so that is what I am shooting for to end the challenge!

ABOUT CHALLENGE #1:Make sure all of the requirements have been met. All Teams have 21 players; some probably haven't shown up yet. Trying to "friend" them twice means over the period of the week, not the same day and not before the game started (which is today, Monday). There is no need to send a request to anyone who is already a "friend".
The purpose of this challenge is to start bonding as a team, get to know all of your team members and to get comfortable posting on your team’s thread. Until I can verify that everyone who's going to show up has done so, and enough time has passed to realistically establish those connections, points claimed for this challenge will not be verified. Unverified Points show up as "Red" until accepted. Once accepted they will turn "Black" and the points will appear in the "Totals" column.
Your post should be made on your particular team’s thread and needs to have @MissionEnforcer appear somewhere within that post (tagging). In this case just stick @MissionEnforcer (no spaces) by itself at the top of your post, or use it in a sentence (uh...maybe not). It doesn't show up as an E-Mail, but instead as a notification on my site.
NOTE: THIS POST IS NOT INTENDED TO BE DIRECTED TOWARD ANYONE PERSONALLY, AND IS BEING PLACED ON ALL TEAM THREADS. No puppies were harmed by the writing of this post!

Well, I also did the cardio drumming videos for Challenge 2 today, so got a few more minutes of activity. I posted my challenge points and the extra time in the spreadsheet, and also posted it as "music, drumming" to my exercise diary (but dropped the calories a bit from the database) for verification.
I'm not really sure if the videos motivated me to try the "Pound" classes at my gym or to stay far away from them due to my lack of rhythm. I used a couple tupperware containers and a tall empty protein container on my low coffee table since I didn't have any balls or enough buckets to use. I used paint mixing sticks for my drum sticks. And yes, my cats scattered to the four corners of the house while I was going it. I think I liked the second video the best because I got relatively close to being able to do the routine by the third round on that one. I will say, I'm super happy we didn't have to post a video...my performance would have been entertaining, but everyone would have needed earplugs because it was what would only be considered a 'joyful noise'.
Challenge 3 - Working on it. I need 66 oz / day, so shooting for 9 cups (72 oz) per day. I'm currently at 7 of 9 for today.
Oh, and in catching up with some of the others' posts...
Happy Birthday, @lja860813!!! We're one day (and a 'few' years) apart! Hope you had a great 30th!
So cool that you live in St. Petersburg, @milesaway61!! I live about 30 minutes away from downtown St. Petersburg, FL. I think your city is so beautiful with all the lovely historical buildings.
Congrats to @CaptainBoing for being the current Power Player leader! Great start!
Congrats on all the great progress in the race already - already over 13% of the way there (we're farthest along so far)! We're rocking it!5 -

Hello Fab Five (my vote!)
Got in a quick walk tonight, the next two nights are parent teacher conferences, so I won't have time to exercise until Thursday.
1. I have sent requests to everyone not on my list, @MissionEnforcer -- all but 2 have responded.
As for me, I am from near Madison, Wi. I live in a small town and love everything about living a rural-ish life near a city! I am totally invested in my adoptive home and have no plans to return to Iowa, my homeland! The best thing about living here is the pride people have in their teams (Badgers, Packers, etc....), and their cheese and beer!
2. Not happening for a few days
3. Done for today! Happen to have purchased a 1.5L waterbottle to carry around on some long work days this week, so somehow I prepped for this challenge before I knew it was coming!
5 -
I drank all my water today
So, the good news is that I went to the chiropractor today and she says that some cardio will help the inflammation in my back go down, so I did a slower walk/run today than usual, but still got it done.
I'm from Melfort, SK. We have had some unseasonable cold weather so far this year. 2 weeks ago, we got about a foot of snow and it hasn't melted. I've decided to accept the fact that winter is here and the snow is not going away! On the plus side, I love to cross country ski and hopefully can do it soon
Melfort is a small city of 6000. We have 3 elementary schools and a high school. I teach kindergarten and my partner is at the high school. Our motto is the city of northern nights, and you can quite often see the in the night sky (although not as bright as the ones in the iceland pictures!).
I think I am now friends with everyone on team 5! My vote for a name is Lost in Pace, followed by Five Star Racers.
@MissionEnforcer4 -
Excepted all friend requests (16 I think)
Drank all water for today
Exercised for 55 minutes
Working on the chant and drums challenges. TBH, that's not really what I had in mind in terms of challenges...2 -
Woot! Kat friended me back while in Bali, so Challenge 1 complete - everyone on the team is now friended @MissionEnforcer...
Rest of my stuff for challenge 1 (Hallo) is on page 2 of the team thread - http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10468670/team-five/p2
Challenges 1 and 2 done. And I got 10 cups of water today, so 1 of 5 done for Challenge 3.
Weather is looking good for paddling tomorrow. Hope to rack up a some water mileage...now, where's my wetsuit since I'm apparently paddling through Canada instead of in FL....2 -
Okay, so I said I didn't care about the name of the team. I've changed my mind. I like Fab Five!
If I understand the exercise tally, I can count stretching, weights, and cardio. So, I did 196 minutes (not my norm!). 26 weights; 40 stretch; the rest cardio. I put it on the spreadsheet; if I'm wrong about how to tally we'll need to correct my time.
@lja860813: Happy Birthday (a bit late)! You've accomplished a lot in 30 years -- you're a dynamo! Glad you're on OUR team!
Challenge #1: “Let’s Say Halló in Iceland!”
@MissionEnforcer -- I've sent friend requests to all and I think I've heard back from most...
I live in Maine --- specifically downeast Maine (which refers to a particular area on the coast --- basically the final 1/3 of the coastline until you hit Canada). Our coastline is stunning --- no other way to describe it! The ocean water here is verrrry cold, though. You can't stay in it very long. Hypothermia in the summer isn't unheard of... yikes!
We have 4 distinct seasons... at least, we're supposed to! Spring, Fall, Winter...and mud season. We just don't have spring like most every other place. If you like the outdoors, Maine is good place to be. HOWEVER, the state bird here is either the black fly or the mosquito! They can be ferocious and tend to suck the joy (and blood) out of being outside sometimes... lol
Unfortunately, I'm on the wrong computer to post some pics. If I think of it, I'll do it later.
Challenge #2: “Drum to a Viking Beat!” Need to do this
Challenge #3: “Fill Up at the Foss!” I tote around 3 (!) nalgene water bottles that carry 40oz (if I fill them up to the tippy top). My husband calls them my water barrels. I usually drink 2.5 - 3 of them everyday. Water is my drink of choice--- what can I say??
I'm a little overwhelmed with keeping up with the 2 challenges I'm in... give me a poke if I'm not doing something I'm supposed to.
I think we have really good team! Lots of good energy and participation! This is going to be a fun 8 weeks!
@Mrscanmore: I love winter... but, this is early for a foot of snow! Zowie!3 -
Progress:
Challenge 1 - 10 points
1.Friend each of your teammates. If they don’t accept your request, try again. Make sure you put a heading in your request, such as “Amazing Race - Fall Fun!”, we are team mates! If after two tries over the course of the entire week, they do not reply, inform your Team Captain. YOU will NOT be penalized if you do not get an acceptance!
I have befriended 19 of my teammates and sent requests to the other 1 on the list. I understand she's out of town though, so will resend on Wednesday, if needed
2. Tag MissionEnforcer done
3. State what town/province/state/country you are from and give a brief description of where you live (pictures are fun, but not necessary). and done
Challenge 2 - 10 points
1. "Viking Chant" Video x3 done
2. YouTube Video #1 x3 done , YouTube Video #2 x3, YouTube Video #3 x3
will work on the rest Tuesday/Wednesday
Challenge 3 - 5 points
Water Challenge - 60 ounces of water 5 days out of 7
Day 1 of 5 complete- Barelyyyy got my water in today.... but it's a lot more than I've been drinking lately so good challenge!
Minutes: 120 (25 strength, 75 cardio, 20 flex)3 -
Hi Team 5.
I just wanted to say as are weight losses don't earn us any points for our team . I would like to give a mention at the end of the week Sunday's to our team members who have lost .
So if you are going to be tracking your weight on the tracker . and you would like to be included can i have ... your weigh in day .

Update! Everyone is my friend!!! Yay.
Drumming done. Never going to one of my favourites as my rhythm is horrible!!!
Water is easy as I do that anyway and I am training super hard this week so need the hydration (summer is starting to show its face, now if only the wind would die down a bit!!)
Other challenges help me push hard and this week I am playing Keeper on the Wampus Quiddich team in the Ilvemory challenge so I am really pushing hard to get minutes in, but it is awesome to be at the top of the power player board. Long may it last...
Oh, and I like Fab Fives!3 -
@MissionEnforcer I have all my friends.1
-
Um, I just checked the power rankings again. How can someone have 3945 minutes in one day? That is over 65 hours, and my days only have 24, not to mention the fact that there is no way I can exercise the entire day!!!
I'm guessing it is an error, but they are not on our team and I am not sure who to query it with.3 -

I'll be tracking my weight as well. My weigh in day is Minday morning.3

I like Fab Five for our team name.
Well I'm glad no one was around to watch me doing my chant and bucket drumming last night. I'm not sure that I've ever felt more uncoordinated. Lol I will go through and do the videos again this week but I did do each of twice last night.
I made the mistake of taking my dogs for a walk through the wet slushy mess that is our roads last night. Both dogs were fine until we got as far away from my house as possible. That's when my older dog decided that she was not going to walk another step. She dug in her feet and I ended up pulling off her halter trying to coax her along. I finished my walk with one dog walking and carrying the second.
Day 1 of the drinking challenge is complete.
@MissionEnforcer Challenge 1 is complete. I have friended everyone on Team 5.4 -

Working on the chant and drums challenges. TBH, that's not really what I had in mind in terms of challenges...
Yes, some of the challenges can be a bit strange, but usually relate to something culturally to our destination and are outside the norm of the types of exercises.
@CaptainBoing -- I saw that last night also... I'm sure it will get corrected, but if it is still there tomorrow I will give a shout out on the Q&A thread. Looks like they are also limiting to a 1000 minutes per person to count towards the team mileage, which will make it more of a team race and not rely to heavily on just a couple power players.
I got all my water in yesterday and shouldn't have a problem getting in at least 5 days. Being on vacation is difficult to do challenge 2 here, but I will be back home Friday at the latest and can knock those out before the weekend is finished.
You all are doing awesome and I'm looking forward to the next 8 weeks!
2 -
Do we have to tag MissionEnforcer more than once to say our friends list is complete?
@CaptainBoing and @Jackiep248: I laugh as you recount your drumming... I know my experience will be similar!
@Jackiep248: Oh, what we do for our pets! lol
@Rusgolden: Are you having a nice vacation?

Good morning teammates! @MissionEnforcer, as I shared before, I live in Miami, which is located on the southeast coast of Florida, U.S.A. (I'll give you three guesses for where I was born, but you'll only need one! Hint, hint, see my username.) Actually, I live in unincorporated Miami-Dade County (formerly, "Dade County"). The city of Miami is relatively small; however, Miami-Dade County is the third largest (land) and most populous county in the state.
When someone tells you they live in Miami, they could be speaking of one of 34 municipalities (including cities, towns & villages), that comprise Miami-Dade County. Miami-Dade County is home to almost three million people and one-third of our county comprises Everglades National Park. (Yes, that's a lot of people in a small area!) Miami is a fairly young city, incorporated in 1896. Miami was inhabited by the Tequesta long before incorporation & in fact, is named for a native tribe.
Miami, AKA The Magic City; the Gateway to the Americas and the Gateway to the Caribbean is known for our tourism, international banking and real estate industries. The area has a number of barrier islands; famous beaches and is an up-and-coming mecca for music, film & television. The Port of Miami is the 13th busiest port in the U.S.
If you're visiting Miami you're enjoying our beaches; nightlife; shopping; great restaurants; unique, Caribbean-influenced neighborhoods; museums & tourist attractions before heading off on a seven-day cruise or driving down to Key West. If you live in the area, you try to avoid driving during rush hours, enjoy any & every free fair/concert/event you can find (it's an expensive area to live in) and have bottles & bottles of sunscreen to try to save yourself from burning & peeling year-round. In spite of its many ills, Miami is a great place to live and work. I love that in a single day I can swim in the Atlantic Ocean; pick fresh strawberries; shop in world-class boutiques; eat at a Michelin Star restaurant and make a 7p.m. New World Symphony concert. Of course I would have the ability to freeze traffic or be the creator of one hell of a personal jet pack!
I am an east coast, city girl & wouldn't have it any other way!
