TEAM FIVE

Got 45 minutes in doing a little bit during my breaks thing, so after I was done with work, I added 15 more minutes to get to an even 60 minutes. Already had done 60 minutes first thing in the morning, so was able to double my minutes for the day despite working.
Week 2 Status:
Challenge 1 - Twisting/dancing - 35 minutes - Done on 24 October
Challenge 2 - Stairs (770 steps UP) - Done - 1007 steps; 26 October
Challenge 3 - No late night snacking after 10pm (5 of 7 days)
-- Monday - Done! (last bit of food at 9pm when dinner was at about 8pm)
-- Tuesday - Done -- grrr
-- Wednesday - Done -- grrr
-- Thursday - Done
"Mileage":
24 October - 38 min Strength Training; 35 min Gazelle; 35 min Dance Videos; 4 Planks = 112 minutes
25 October - 0 min - worked late = 0 minutes
26 October - 20 min Stair Stepper (1007 steps); 40 min Rowing Machine; 35 min Strength Training = 95 minutes
27 October - 120 min Gazelle; 8 min Planks = 128 minutes4 -
Updated spreadsheet, finished my stairs with 144 up today, total = 880. Snacking has been a challenge... I did not meet it today, but I will FIGHT and get my last three days! so challenge #3 I'm at 2/5. Hope everyone is doing well

I'm really enjoying the no late night snack challenge.
I've moved my evening tea to 9 o'clock, and I've skipped the after workout snack.
I never realized how many calories I pack in when I'm mindlessly watching tv.
I've also noticed I don't wake up with heartburn anymore.
This one I'm going to continue on even after this week.7 -
My minutes today will be really low - it's a running "rest" day in anticipation of tomorrow's 10 mile run. The irony is that in this challenge, it's a benefit to be a slow runner like me! - cracks me up.
For all of you who knocked out the stair challenge in a day or two - my hat is off to you! WOW. I try to do five trips up the basement stairs during commercials, and I'm out of breath and my legs hurt. I'm currently at 570.
Time for work - I have so much fund on this site the time gets away from me. Yikes.6 -
We could really use more challenge points! There's a lot still on the board. We have over 600 more minutes than Team 1... but are only in the lead by 10 points.3

For us, it really is about the challenge points!! We seem to be able to knock out the exercise minutes quite handily, but Team 1 and 2 have been way ahead of us for challenge points. At least the weekend is here when more people can knock them out. And it's a good tactic to lull Team 1 and 2 into a false sense of security... The fab fives will be the First Fives after this weekend...just saying...4 -
Funny how I rarely ever snack after dinner, but now that I can't I seem to be craving something. We normally eat dinner rather late, so it's not usually an issue However, last night was a real challenge. I really, really wanted a little bit of something (like dark chocolate). Looked at the clock and it was 9:05. I drank a big glass of water and resigned myself to denial.
My calves are killing me from the stair climbing. Errrrgh! Lots of stretching is the order of the day. Hubby is home on vacation and we're working on house projects, but hoping to get in some disc golf this afternoon. I added 90 minutes from yesterday to the spreadsheet and hoping for at least that much today.4 -
Phew.
Been super busy this week, not able to get to spreadsheet until now b/c of traveling!
Today I hit the step goal; Luckily, there are two levels of the conference and we were on the ninth floor of the hotel!
Also snuck in some videos earlier in the week.
Working on the snacking... we'll see if I can get that in; driving back to Madison tonight and going to a friend's house tonight so... I will try!!
Also, let it be known that I am no longer a hotel gym virgin! I was WIDE awake this morning at 5:20 with 2 other ppl in my room, I escaped to the gym!5 -

I love hotel gyms! I used to be skeered to venture to the fitness room, but once I did I was hooked. Now, whenever we travel, I get up early, grab a cup of coffee, go to the gym and let hubby sleep in. I'm usually the only one there, so it's like my own private fitness center!2 -
Before this week is over I wanted to post about 1975. What a trip down memory lane. Or for this challenge, we'll call it a time warp! Reading all of your previous comments, it's pretty clear that I'm the elder of this group. Some of you were not even a twinkle in your daddy's eye yet, but I remember it very well.
In 1975 I was 15 years old, a freshman in high school and living in Biloxi, Mississippi, USA. My father was an electronics instructor in the Air Force and we lived on the Air Force base. Besides school, I spent my days going to the beach, swimming at the base pool, reading books, sunbathing with my girlfriends (without sunscreen - what's that?), listening to music, and working at a snow cone stand after school and during summer break. My dad had a boat, so we'd go fishing out in the Gulf of Mexico almost every weekend. Back in 1975, there wasn't a lot of enforcement of child labor laws in Mississippi. I started working at age 13 for $1.00 an hour (cash under the table) and all the snow cones I could eat. We went to a lot of movies because it was cheap on the base. Only 75 cents for the movie and 25 cents for popcorn. Mom would give me $5 and I'd take my 4 siblings and she'd get a break. When we moved to Oregon a year later I got a job right away. Much to my surprise I made $2.35 an hour, which was the federal minimum wage at the time. Man, I was rolling in the dough!
One movie I remember from 1975 was Jaws. Scared the crap out of me! None of us would go swimming in the gulf anymore. I remember when Rocky Horror Picture Show came out that year, but it was rated "R" and my parents wouldn't let me go. When I did see it later, it was an interesting experience because people really did bring all the props, wear costumes, and throw rice, toast and hot dogs! What a mess!
1975 was also the year of some incredible music and musicians, many of whom are still performing today. Springsteen, Queen, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, and one of my all time favorites, David Bowie! RIP Major Tom.
Bowie was amazing in 1975 and still creating great music 30 years later. If you need some extra minutes this week, then "shake your booty" to these:
Fame - from 1975 (little known fact - John Lennon sang the back-up vocals)

@2016summerfun Great job June! I should be able to knock off challenge #3 tonight as well... good thing, because the weekend looks to be some late night eating, especially Sunday when all the kids will be over for some scary movies and finger food and desserts... also celebrating my DiL birthday.
@milesaway61 Awesome! Great to hear from you!!4 -
It's been a crazy week, so my totals have been lower than usual. The weather has also made my knees quite unhappy (both have been surgically repaired).2

I walked home for lunch, but halfway there I realized I didn't have my keys! So, I skipped lunch and took a walk instead3

Some Fab Five nerding out for the weekend...
Great job on being 1000 exercise minutes over Team 1!! Also great job on getting more challenge points entered - currently 25 more points than Team 1!!. We have a sizable lead, but that seemed to spur them on last weekend.
Team 1 seems to be our closest competitors. Looking at their stats from last week, and comparing to this week, I'm guesstimating that they might wrack up another 5560 minutes over the weekend (and by filling in blanks for the week). This translates to 260 more exercise points. If they get all their challenge points (they came pretty close last week), they would also get another 260 points. That's 320 more points they could possibly get to add to their current total of 1175. That would put them at 1495. With a margin of error for my guesstimation of their exercise minutes, let's just call it 1500 team points would be their likely high for this leg of the race. Might be lower, and it is still possible to be higher, but it's probably a decent estimate.
Right now we have 1240 team points (yippie!! us!! for being in the lead!!). We still have 245 challenge points left. If we get them all that will put us at 1240 + 245 = 1485 team points (only 15 points behind Team 1 on just challenge points). If we get all our challenge points and just do the same amount of exercise we did last weekend (3215 minutes), we would get an extra 150 points for the exercise and that would put us at a nice cushion of 1485 + 150 = 1635 total team points. We do still have some blanks to fill in for the week, so we could go even higher.
We can do this Fab Fives!! Have a great weekend everyone! Keep moving!5 -
Challenge 2 - complete 2,1804

I'm done on all three challenges. Don't think I will hit the 1000 minute mark this week, feeling really low on energy and just can't push that extra bit. I will still get in more minutes today and tomorrow, but probably not 251 over the two days. I am also working this weekend so have limited time available.
We are in the lead at the moment, if we all do what we can, Team 1 will bow to brilliance ...3 -
Another 75 minutes today with disc golf and gardening. Plus, I will meet the challenge tonight for no snacking. Not sure what tomorrow will bring, but hope to get a few more minutes in.4

I have completed all three challenges for this week.
The stairs were easy since climbing ladders at work happens about every 5 minutes, so I know I've gone more than 5,000 (not only that, but I wear ankle weights at work.)
I absolutely loved the no snacking challenge. It was a real eye opener at how much I eat in the evenings. Shaving off those calories, I dropped almost 5lbs this week with little effort.
So I'm up to date for this week.3 -
After looking at the spreadsheet for awhile. I found the 'power rank' tab (it's really hard to navigate on my phone so I've missed it.)
I am so determined to make it, not only ON the list, but to the TOP of that list.
I think my weighted hula hoop while binge watching animes will be an easy way to add on the minutes.3 -
@My_Butt I updated the spreadsheet with your scores for the three challenges as you stated you have done them, but they weren't updated on the sheet (and we want those points). Also, come join us in the top 10 of the Power Rank, there are 3 Fab Fives there at the moment, so space for 7 more of us!
We are currently 80 points ahead of Team 1...
Don't forget to log your points if you have finished a challenge!3 -

I'm with you! That was a great challenge for me! Now I need one to log all my food. I've gotten lazy!1 -

Lets create accountability for each other: while continuing the 'no late night snacking', we'll also be sure to log every morsel.2 -

@My_Butt & @Mrscanmore - glad you ladies liked the snacking challenge! At least it makes me feel better that they did it.
For me, I'm very very very grateful it is over. I typically don't eat until late (often not until 8 or 9pm for dinner), and often I'm trying to fill my calorie/macro gap in the evenings after dinner especially when I have a busy day and didn't get a chance to eat. That challenge kept me from my usual late evening protein drink or piece of fruit to balance out my macros. Instead I was having to stuff my face during dinner or just after (before 10pm) to get as many calories in toward my goal when I wasn't even hungry yet. For a couple of days I was even hungry after the arbitrary deadline of 10pm, but I couldn't eat though I had spare calories...which was just silly, IMO.
I guess I don't do crazy snacking at night...and even when I snack, I typically am portioning out my snack to be able to log it properly anyway. When you portion servings out, I think it keeps you in check from just opening a bag of chips and eating them all. So, I guess I'm wired a bit differently and that is why it was more of a PITA than helpful for me. But super glad it helped you both!3
