Getting back on plan and it is feeling great! I am beyond done with the Christmas carbage!4

Yesterday was another solid keto day....and a decent woosh of a few pounds off this morning! I did it!!! Feels great!!
Operation "Back to where I was awhile ago" is firmly underway.
Also got that good old keto rush of energy last night. Still feeling it and that is one of my all time favorite keto things. Carbs turn me into an instant, intractable couch potato.
Early Spring Cleaning projects for me...starting now!

Went down to 25 carbs (more or less) for 4 days and took off 4 lbs of my holiday gain. Six more pounds and I'll be back where I was in October.
Thanks @KnitOrMiss!15 -
I've lost my holiday gain and I am ready to take on 2017 and lose 100 lbs! 4 days on track and feeling good!18

Been on track since the 1st -- eating right and working out. I'm hoping to keep this momentum going and make it a new habit of 2017. I'm trying to lose 120!!!! Ugh. I don't want to think about that last part because it makes it seem hopeless. One step at a time, right? Blech14

@AnaVerasGettingFit
Since they say you should stop and recalculate everything, plus take a metabolism break every time you lose 5-10% of your body weight, mark that as your goal. For every 10% lost, they suggest focusing on maintenance for 3-6 months to allow your metabolism to reset to a new "standard" value...so your body won't be tempted to yo-yo back up to the highest weight.
(Our body likes to stay static, but it wants all those new fat cells we made to be full, it wants maximum capacity, but that doesn't work for me, and I'm sure it doesn't for you, either. So we have to smack it around and get it to accept the new reality. We won't ever want to get that fat again...but it is stubborn, so we have to prove ourselves every so often.) As an example here, my heaviest medically recorded weight is 319. In 2015, I got down to 240, but my thyroid sputtered and stalled, and I'm back up in the 270's. This seems to be where I stayed static for a long time, as my body doesn't try to push me back to 319, but I have to work to get back below the 270's...
I don't have a scale goal number. I'm probably at least 100 pounds from where I want to be, but my overall goal is whole body health...not a number on the scale. That is a worthless measure for me. I have NO idea what that will look like since I've been Morbidly Obese over a decade... There is no point of reference for this for me.
So that being said. My current weight is about 275. 5% is about 14 pounds. 10% is obviously about 28 pounds. So my current goal is that. Reevaluation is necessary at EVERY TURN. Otherwise, to continue on with something that isn't working or working well is insanity.
Break it down. The only picture right now is a small piece. The big picture is HEALTH. Not weight. Because believe me, at 5'4" I could weigh 175 and be muscular, stacked, and healthy - and I would weight 140 (technically healthy BMI) and be skinny fat, have bad glucose, cholesterol, or whatever... Which do you think is the better option? For me, it is 1000% the bigger weight, because it is healthier.
Just some perspective from an old fart.16 -

Thank you so much for this enlightened and educated opinion! This is a point that often gets lost in the mix. It is important to give the body a chance to accept the new body weight and also, in the long run, helps folks maintain lower weight with a higher amount of calories than if they just stayed in a constant deficit.

Yesterday was another good keto day. The whoosh is done, but I'm still heading back down poundwise. Still feel energized...tonite is dance night, all good.

Hello everyone, I'm a 1-month old LCHF follower who has recently gone keto. Just joined the group today, looking for safe havens here on MFP where I can hang out with other LC and keto folks. I've lost 18 lbs in the month that I've been eating this way and I am loving it! No more hunger or cravings and I'm feeling great. I do need to work on my electrolytes and fiber, though. I've found that both of those can be very difficult to get enough of with this WOE. Other than that, I'm really happy with the way things are going and am looking forward to an awesome year.16

Thank you @KnitOrMiss for starting a new thread !
I'm hunkering down to lose the 8 pounds gained over the holidays, and then looking forward to releasing another 8-10. I'm really concentrating on my workouts along side of Keto. Would like to see me get into smaller pants sizes!8 -
Back in ketosis! It has only been a week and I've had some minor evening couch carbage slips. .. so I was second guessing how I felt since it has been so long. Pulled out the ketostix and sure enough... Woot woot!!5

still going strong with the new year's plan and I'm luving the keto rush.
Feeling great about this year, and I feel ready to get some new things going.
A few things are already in the works...early days, but it's just great.

@Julene64 - Just an FYI, most folks on keto or low carb find that they don't need fiber. (Not all, mind you, but most.) Fats replace the fiber in the poo process, providing natural lubrication, instead of the fiber irritating the colon, etc. to force it to create lubrication. Many folks go less often and less volume, because the delay in dispensing the solid waste allows for a more complete absorption of nutrients and fluids back into the body.
So basically, you may go less often, you may have lower volume, but generally the only worry here should be if you get uncomfortable, have difficulties going when you do go, or your waste is very firm/compact when you go, etc.
Some folks, even with IBS and such, find that they do worlds better dropping even veggie fibers from their diet. It's all about experimenting to find what works best for you.9 -
I've been doing Keto since May and have been hovering around a 30 pound loss since early November. I put on a pound or two over the holidays -- I'm not sure if it was carb creep (lots of keto treats, wine, more nuts than usual) or just too many calories. I just started tracking again after months of doing lazy keto, and I am back on track, I think. Glad to see a new thread for 2017 just as I am trying to re-engage with MFP!4

Thanks for starting this thread! I like the idea of staying accountable.
I really think 2017 is going to be a great year and I’m excited to get to work losing weight. I started a new job that comes with crazy lifestyle changes. I’m flying 2 weeks in 2 weeks out which means I have my meals prepared for me half the time (this comes with major draw backs but some positives…)
BUT the two weeks at home means I’ll have plenty of time for meal prep and exercise.
This past year I found out I had a condition called PCOS and apparently keto is helpful so I’m excited to see how it goes. Wish me luck

I'm starting week 2 of keto (more low carb actually) and I'm holding steady after a quick 1.5lb loss eating more total calories. I had a small bout of lethargy but bounced back pretty quick and now I'm coasting and workout intensity has stayed high. I weight train 6x/wk f.y.i1

I've been doing keto for 9 days now and I'm very hopeful that this is a woe I can stick with! @magerchuk I have pcos too and that was one of the many reasons I decided to give this a whirl.
@KnitOrMiss I lost 20-30 pounds in 4 months last year and then spent the other 8 months gaining and losing 5-10lbs. I like what you said about the metabolism break, it makes me feel a bit better about it. Hoping to avoid that with keto, but I know what an uphill battle it will be either way.2 -
Good things on the near horizon. Staying close but not perfect on my keto plan. Still very happy with progress. Have found a new exercise buddy and that is a very interesting, unexpected development! We'll see how that goes...
I really think this is going to be my year!!!
Thanks for being here with me fitness pals!3
