So at my Body Flex class yesterday two ladies came up to me and told me how thin I looked, in a positive way. One of them has been away from the class for about 2 months. Because of my eyesight I stand up at the front of the class so I can see the instructor. These two have been in the class for over a year, no changes. She asked me how I had changed so much in two months time. I told them "It is amazing how cutting out bread, pasta, and potatoes eating more veggies and healthy fats can change you in a short time." and shut up. I didn't go into LCHF evangelical mode at all. They thanked me and said they might just give it a try.
It was nice to have someone point out weight loss in a positive manner and they did really listen to me. I think one of them might just give up some starchy carbs and give it a try. She had a very thoughtful look on her face. I'll keep my eye on her going forwards.12 -
One of the pastors from my church invited me to lunch today. He wanted to discuss keto. Afterwards, he asked if I would be willing to sit down with him and his adult daughter to help them get started. He is not a science guy, although he wanted me to explain it as best I could from a scientific point of view.
For those who have people around you who seem resistant, know sometimes it takes time. My first conversation with him was in October last year while we were on a mission trip in Colombia after he listened to a conversation I had with one of the volunteer doctors down there about what I was doing and the doctor was fully on board.
Between that and him seeing me go from the guy that was always hungry to the guy who could sit at a table full of people scarfing down carbage while ate nothing without any problem.
Of course I agreed to sit down with him and his daughter. I forwarded him the Dr Westman video along with "page 4" so they could be somewhat prepared.11 -
*booty dances* We had team building today. Not only did I plan out lunch (seriously...PF Changs is evil...) I even managed to pass up the full sugar ice cream we stopped for later. They had the sugar free stuff but with maltodextrin and sorbitol? Yeah not worth it, I can survive til later.
This is HUGE for me. I did manage to drink my weight in sparkling water but meh, I'll still take the win.12 -
.... What is 'PF Changs'....?0

An Asian-themed US casual dining restaurant. Rice, noodles, sauces, wonton chips everywhere. I could have gotten it with out any sauces/rices/et al but I've found altering stuff too much when you're in a rush doesn't work well. And it annoys your dining mates.0

Ooooh, yum.... Yup I have to admit - in a place like that, I'd probably be too tempted and throw caution to the wind....2

In theory I should just bite the bullet. I am outrageously cheap frugal, and so I am loathe to throw something out that still works and spend perfectly good money on a replacement.
Officially I am waiting until I hit goal weight and it has been stable 6 months. That six month bit might be squishy when I get there. The goal weight and stable for 6 months is when I am telling my doctor he can try to convince me I need a statin again after I decided to stop taking mine.7 -

Awesome job! And, love that Wonder Woman tee!

I'm in the "off season" training mode even though it is not winter. Lol! I just don't have any more long triathlons I want to do.
It is time to work on one specific thing now. Swimming!! I like how swimming is exercise but relaxing. I love zero impact too.
I love how our group shares people living the life they wanted, getting the shape they wanted. It is an empowered group!
So this is 30 days in out of 90. Working on getting my swimming physique going again. Losing some fat and getting more tapered. And of course faster thru the water for the next IM!
A little progress. Feeling good about the future !12 -
I'm kind of a bit fazed and dazed... I know my weight won't shift. But my "wow haven't got into this size for ages!" jeans - were too big. So numbnutz here decided to go for the next smallest size.
They arrived today.
I removed them from the parcel, took one look at them and laughed. out Loud. Seriously, I really did.
No way. Absolutely no way were these even going to ride up past my hips.
Not possible.
You have to be kidding me.
Ridiculous.
What the hell was I thinking.
So I put them on, and..... they did up. No problem. WTF....?!?
No struggling, no squeezing, no hauling the zipper up with the hook of a coat hanger, no lying down or writhing on the floor.
Stood up, in front of mirror.
O. M. G.
My ASSet no longer hits the floor.
But my jaw sure as hell did.
I think, in the USA, they're the equivalent of a size 2.23 -
@AlexandraCarlyle that has to feel dang good! Happy for you!2

@AlexandraCarlyle that has to feel dang good! Happy for you!
It does, but you know that little fear factor that says "Hah! It wont last! Just you wait! You've got rid of all those big clothes, but you're sure as hell gonna wish you hadn't! You're gonna need them again!"
I almost have to keep 'pinching myself' to make sure it's not a fluke....5 -
A non specific NSV for me is that after one and a half years of losing/keeping off a significant amount of weight, I still find myself surprised at how awesome I feel in my body. I'm not ashamed of how I look when I'm dancing or out in public, and I enjoy dressing myself up to look good. Sometimes when those thoughts come to mind, I'm so truely grateful that I found the determination within to lose weight, get healthy, look and feel good.
Really at the age of 59, I was so physically sick from weight related issues and so far gone that I needed a walker to go more than 10 feet. I had given up, and was sure I would die of a heart attack within 5 years.
120 pounds down, my life is filled with people and things that bring me more joy than I have ever known before.
So damned grateful for this and thankful for this amazingly supportive weightloss community. I find daily strength and inspiration here.

I had a guy come up to me in the gym while I was on the elliptical on Thursday and told me "I just wanna say.. it's working." Then he walked off. It made my day that day.11

It's been 42 days since I've started trying to slim down, and while the numbers on the scale were moving, the inches aren't coming off. I measured myself at three different points and am still getting the same numbers for 4 weeks.
Well yesterday, I noticed a t-shirt that used to fit me a bit snugly was a TINY bit looser. I don't think I lost a measurable amount anywhere specifically, but I must be a LITTLE bit smaller all around!6 -

This happened to me in the beginning too. I luckily measured lots more places though.
Because I wasn't losing anything measurable on my hips and waist where I wanted to lose, but I lost tons from my thighs, calves, arms, neck and the most was around my rib cage. None of those areas really affect the way clothes fit so I couldn't understand how I could lose 10 of the 30 total I wanted to lose without seeing it.
I was too focused on the wrong areas.3 -

This is one of the best things I have read all day.
Congrats on all your efforts paying off so well.4 -
It's a simple NSV, but a good one: I made smart eating decisions this weekend. I'm sick and don't feel well and several times logged crappy food that I was going to eat my feelings in, but then I changed my mind each time and stayed on track all weekend.16

Yesterday I was shopping and saw a pretty pair of leggings. This wasn't in a 'plus size' shop, they were just 'Large', like normal-person-size-large, but they were cute and cheap so I bought them. Figured someday they might fit.
Tried them on this morning, to get a feel for how horribly small they were. I figured they'd be ok on my legs, but assumed they'd never stretch over my belly.
They fit.
Ok they're a bit tight, but... they fit.
I'm wearing normal person sized not plus, no 'X's at all, standard 'large' leggings.
I don't know what this feeling is, but I like it.25 -

We need a 'My God they fit!' Club!! (I too bought a pair of jeans i thought, when I looked at them out of the packet, "No Way!" and yet, I''m really comfortable in them!)

I can finally get back into some old clothes so have a whole new wardrobe for the summer without spending a penny - I also tried on an old coat that I thought wouldn't do up but would just see and it zipped up perfectly so don't have to stick with my one and only coat when it rains
Felt amazing today12 -

Keep going hun! it's an amazing feeling when the smaller clothes you buy to replace the bigger clothes which no longer fit - are also too big!5 -
Really enjoy reading these inspiring tales. I have to keep reading threads like this to keep motivated. For approximately 7 weeks the scale did not move, and then I recently increased my carb intake to 50-75, and then voila! A few more pounds came off and then some. Trial and error they say.4

For the first time, one of my clients who does not know that I am trying to lose weight, told me that I looked like I had lost quite a bit of weight in the few weeks since she had seen me. I have been told from people that know I'm eating better that they can see it, but it was the first time someone who didn't know actually noticed/commented. Feels good to know that it is working and after 20 pounds it is finally starting to be noticeable!11

I doin' the happy-dance for ya, @steph0324 !!
(ETA: My Husband: "Oh stop it, you look ridiculous, you're 60, ffs....!")
....me goes on doin' the happy-dance....!5 -
My former alderman was outside today. He walks and tries to take care of his health. When I was out walking earlier this morning he stopped me to ask me how old I was. He was embarrassed to ask (he and his wife are precious folks) but I could see he just HAD to know. When I told him I'm going to be 61 in October he totally freaked out, lol. He kept saying how great I looked, so healthy, etc. I've been wrestling with health issues for years, housebound during many of those years, the only time I left the house was another trip to the hospital, so it was such a blessing to have him say what he did.

Passing on the chips, bread, fries, and cake at a birthday party with no feelings of 'missing out.'
I'll usually have cake because it's a treat, but today I just didn't want it.8 -
You're all amazing! Keep it up.1

Finally got my lazy *kitten* back to the gym this morning (after a 3 month break)... gonna be sore tomorrow but it was worth it!6

I really haven't *seen* any changes to my body, but today for some reason I decided to try on the shirt I bought a few months ago that was slightly too small for me. I bought it before I even decided to try to lose weight, and I bought it thinking "why am I even buying this, I will never wear it."
Well today, it fit perfectly! It hangs just right on my body, no skin-tight feeling. I just HAD to wear it to work today to celebrate.
So even though I don't see the changes, there is definitely something different!8
