I am spending a little bit of time this afternoon trying to translate something from an obscure foreign language ("Female") to my native language ("Husband")..... The original statement was "I didn't do much for Valentine's Day this year, and you shouldn't either. And No Candy this year, please." As there are at least 20 meanings for this statement, I am trying to determine which path allows me to express my affection for my wife without getting into trouble for ignoring instructions on either the high side OR the low side. Really, ladies, you have no idea how stressful these things can be....
What a problem to have! I am an accountant and control our money, so I have told my husband for years absolutely no cards, no flowers, no nothing as I'm not going to support the retail world. I'd rather buy a really good steak and cook it up for the two of us. I did hear on the radio that Valentine's day is 10.2 billion dollar market. Isn't that crazy!!!
So my advice, just buy her something super small and sweet to show your affection...definitely no candy!!5 -
Morning all!
Been super busy lately so didn't have a chance to check in yesterday except post my steps.
HEY...weight is back down. I knew it was temporary and my puffy eyes are slowly getting better. And, the last two days have been great with food, water and exercise.
This coming weekend we have a huge birthday party for all us February babies - so 4 birthdays to celebrate (mine, SIL and 2 grandkids) I'm definitely staying away from dairy (no cheesecake - sorry guys) but I will have something fun for a dessert. I'll just watch my calories so I don't go over board!
Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!!5 -

Daily check in: Tuesday
Food: Logged, under
Water: Pretty good
Exercise: Bowflex intervals; 30 minute walk
Had a decent day meeting my goals. Was happy to get over 10,000 steps. Helped hubby with his latest project outside so didn't drink quite as much water as normal as I couldn't run back and forth to the bathroom. We don't really celebrate Valentine's day... every day is Valentine's day, right? LOL Kidding!! Not in my house. I have a nice dinner planned and that's about it. Snowing again today which I'm actually OK with as my body feels like it needs a rest day.
Congrats to today's losers!!
Wishing everyone a successful day achieving your goals!!4 -

My son finally came home from the hospital. He thought he was going to go hang out with his friends. He argued with me at the hospital because mom's never know what they are talking about. All 21 year olds are right. He just came out of his room and apologized, can't even stand up straight. He's not going anywhere. Mom's know everything. I told him he needs to listen to me more often, lol.
We do not really celebrate Valentine's day here either. I usually buy my husband and kids some Reece's, call it done. I ask for dinner it can be pizza, subs, or he can cook as long as I get a night off from cooking I don't care where it comes from. This year I am looking to buy my husband a water bottle because he says I took all the ones that we have including his. He says he's going to start going to the gym again at his new job that he starts next week, but I call bull crap. But at least he'll have one.8 -
Ok, so I updated my goal chart after today's weigh in. 45 lbs to go before I'm at a healthy BMI!

@carlsoda I hope you have a great birthday weekend with your family. and you should have a LITTLE desert. I agree whole heartedly. we all need a little fun food every once in a while as long as we are still mindful of how much of it we are eating.
@nstephenson01 I am glad you had a good day yesterday. back on track. good job nancy. never give up!
@ljdanny they never learn no matter how old they get. my son will always ask my opinion and I give it to him, then he does what he wants. I am always right. lol I told him when are you ever gonna learn. and he said probably never. ughhhh. I am so glad that your son is home. now he can heal in the love of his family.
@ihp2015 omgosh. that is so cute. I love it. good job girl. 45 to go! I can't wait to congratulate you when you get there.

I'm feeling so bad about myself as i've been so lazy and unmotivated (and was sick for a few days) - i've only been to the gym once or twice this month!
I am still eating well and drinking lots of water, and i've done quite a few home workouts, but I really have to push myself to do it! Even my mom asked me what was up because she noticed how few steps i'm getting - i don't know why i'm being so lazy and unmotivated? I was so pumped about how well I did in January, but as soon as February hit - I lost my groove.

@ljdanny - Very glad to hear your son is back home from the hospital. My youngest just turned 13 and she has way ramped up her belief that I know very little. Lol.
@ihp2015 - Love the new chart for tracking your loss. So cute!
@kirsten11872 - Thanks for sharing your story. I love to learn about the members of this team.
@cyndiesstuff - Awesome work on changing your mindset. Thanks for sharing your process. Such an inspiration.
@lenka1 - I completely agree about the posts on my phone, pecking away single finger style now - lol. I “select all” and copy my posts often so I don’t lose them before posting (has happened too many times for me to take chances). Jealous of your Europe trip. Totally understand the challenges of eating on plan while on vacation. Such a challenge!
@Mrsbell8well - Salad looks so yummy! I love chic peas.
@Cafelelia - Awesome to see your health has improved with your weight loss. Such a fun and important NSV!
Happy to report the stomach flu is gone and we are having fun in this vacation. Rainy and cold today - but we changed plans a bit and had s great day of indoor fun. Tomorrow the Universal Studios and 75/sunny forecast.
Much trouble with calorie counting here at Universal. No calorie info on any menus or webpages. I am “estimating” based on my months of weighing and counting- but it feels a lot like “wild guessing” because I don’t eat many of these foods in my daily life.
On the positive side - I have defaulted to making reasonable choices off the menu and eating only until full (along side the wild guessing). So hard to throw away half an expensive yummy meal - but I am getting into a good pattern. Had a few bites of dessert the last two nights and felt perfectly satisfied. Will be interesting to see my weigh in after about 2 weeks.
One highlight was seeing (and touching) this piece of the Berlin Wall.

I had a very good day today...Because I planned everything out! Thank you @cyndiesstuff I am doing the same for tomorrow. Tomorrow I will head to the shore after work. It is a big weekend, Polar Bear Plunge. It is bigger than the summer holidays so I want to get down before the traffic and go shopping. Thursday will be ok, my daughter and her husband are heading down too. Friday DAY will be good, then everyone will start to arrive. We do have dinner plans Saturday but I am going to eat breakfast and lunch everyday at home. Usually everyone hangs at the bars and eats bar food but I am not this weekend. The weather is supposed to be bad so I am not sure about exercise. I will probably end up doing my Leslie sansone videos. I don't think I knew about them this summer . Well, I got to go, I need to plan tomorrow and I am getting tired. I will check in quick tomorrow then I have a lot of scheduling for work to do then to my friends so she can show me the technical things. After that I am coming home to grab Daisy and off we go!
@kirsten11872 It is nice to hear from you! I know you have been where you want to be and you can be there again. You know what to do. Get right back on track and you can do this!
@cyndiesstuff You are so right. I need to do this for myself. No matter what gets in the way. I did have a good day today.
@carlssoda I know you can create a yummy dessert that would fit your plan. Enjoy your birthday weekend! Did I miss your steps for 2/13?
@nstephenson01 You must have so much snow on the ground. Glad you could take a day to rest.
@ljdanny
@twyla77 I was the same way in January, I was so good through the holidays and then blah...It could be because you are getting over being sick. Hope you can jump back on track soon. Don't let too much time go by but also don't push yourself if you aren't fully recovered. We also need your steps for 2/8 . They post early on Sunday so if you could check in before for the rest of the week that would be awesome.
@ljdanny One day they will realize that we do know what we are talking about Lol! I was trying to remember...didn't your husband used to get up early with you and go to the gym? but then his schedule changed and you kept it up? Maybe you are motivating him? Those water bottles are great, there are so many out there. What a great idea!
@ihp2015 Love it! I want to make one of those! I can't draw so @MrsBell8wells is out and I am not good on the computer. I would screenshot yours but I need more stars! Lol!
@phoebe112476 Love the pic! Where is that? At Universal? Sounds like you are doing well on your trip! I am so glad everyone is feeling better too.4 -

i was having a good day yesterday. i drank my water, listened to my podcasts, got my steps in, made my 24 hour plan. came home for dinner. and i started grazing while i was making dinner. it was left over nite. so i just had to reheat stuff. the grazing turned into eating more than i should. that was when my mind frame changed. and ED took over. what i learned was to sit while eating number one. that was the first rule i broke. number two was no munching while cooking dinner. and number three, as always, tell ED to shut to hell up. i am glad it happened. i learned from it. next time it will be easier.
and i love the weight loss this week. i have been working really hard. it is getting easier tho. i am so proud of myself for working on getting my head straight. i love that new cyndie girl! she is alright.
@twyla77 i am so glad your ok. i thought we had lost you. i know how hard it is to break that downward spiral. baby steps. make a 24 hour plan. what can you do in the next 24 hours that you can feel good about. start back small with little wins. they will add up to momentum soon. you can do this twyla. i believe in you.
@phoebe112476 and thank you for turning me on to phit n phat. it is really helping me a lot. see i knew how to lose weight. i have done it a million times before. i need to learn how to keep it off. and that is what corinne is helping me learn how to do. i am glad you all are feeling better. to know when i am full, i make a fist and put it by where my stomach is. your fist is the size of your stomach. and while your doing that really think about the size of your stomach and the food you are currently putting in it. sometimes it really helps to visualize it. and it is really hard to throw away food. but you would be waisting it if you ate it to. by the way... you look so cute in that pic!!
@sleepymom5 have you been reading your book and listening to the podcast? it is really important head work. it also provides great motivation. write down your weekend plan. something about putting it down on paper really makes it a commitment. then you can look at it thru the weekend to help you stay on track. and still make the 24 hour plan that will keep you focused on the now. and above all have fun while you learn how to live with out OVER indulging. and good job on creating a good day yesterday. you did it girl.
@bbcbw nice loss for you this week. how are your doing? how is your plan going?5 -

Good day yesterday, because I planned. Today I loosely planned but a lot depends on work. Hoping for another good day.....Got to run. I will check in tonight when I am settled at the shore. I am going to say I am tired (which probably won't be a lie) so I don't go out. Tomorrow should be good too...I will make a better plan for the weekend when I am down there. Gtg!
@bbcbw Nice loss! Hope it is going well!
@cyndiesstuff First of all, nice loss this week! Tell ED he can take that and shove it up his kitten (I will save MFP the work ) . That no standing rule is just so spot on, usually when I am standing is when I am eating what I shouldn't. I have an issue when I am hungry and preparing dinner. I am thinking of having some raw veggies around when I cook, if I am using them or not. The crunch and the chewing hopefully will satisfy me enough to get through. I need to do better with the schedule and schedule in the book. I carry it around to read "later" and then I don't get to it. I also love the podcast but have problems advancing to the next one. It would be great for the carride to the shore and if I get to walk on the beach. I am going to grab Shannon to help me. They really help with my frame of mind. This job is so weird too. I feel like I am always not done even though I have until the end of April to finish. It is like just hanging over my head, I need to work my hours and not think about it until I work again. Ugh.....
@eminater Awesome steps! Great job with the challenge too!
@Shirin_K Nice loss!2
