Yesterday I finally caught up on all my emails. Trying to stay on top of my workload.
Came home and crawled into bed for a few minutes. My daughter sent me a text that they wanted to run before family dinner. So I crawled out of bed and threw on my running clothes. I ran for 42 minutes in the wind and slight rain. We had such a good time and I felt rejuvenated. Hannah is 12 and trying to beat me lol. She keeps me running a little harder. 8 of us went out to dinner. I had such a good time and great food. Bake potato, sweet potato, grilled asparagus and the salad bar. Family focus week is pretty sweet. Leaving to DC later today to enjoy the weekend with Skylynn and her best friend at the Smithsonians.

I am posting my weight after instead of before this post because I don't want to lose the comments below I already wrote. (I told you all I am bad at this computer stuff Lol!) I am up a lot. I had a bad weekend but thought I did better during the week. I actually like using logging as a tool to learn. I was over on most days, some days not by much but it adds up. I also didn't have activity to balance it out. I need to be strict about pre logging my food. If I don't have calories, I am not going to eat it. I also have a week ahead that I can focus on me at the shore. I do have cleaning to do but that really won't take me away from concentrating on this. My goal this week is to get back to where I was last week. I know that I can do it! As far as activity, the doctor gave me no restrictions, whatever I can tolerate. So I am going to try kayaking, that is more about the position, not sure how my hip will like being in a kayak. I know I am good with biking so I am going to do that. I know walking aggravates it. I have been doing well with slow, 15 min walks. I am just going to slowly increase the time. I will try with the pace but I limp so I am walking slower. I would love to swim, we are on a canal off the bay. I could easily swim, even hold onto the doc and kick. I just have to get over myself and go in. I like floating in a tube with a drink. Not actually swimming with whatever is in there. It feels good to have a plan. MK and I are making plans for dinners each night. She is not the healthiest eater but gave me a list of the healthy dinners she likes. There was a lot more on the list than she lets on! Lol! She also is working at a fish market so she can bring stuff home after work. We need to get creative with cooking. Can you believe a 19 yo girl loves cleaning fish? She stinks of fish when she gets home but she loves it! Lol! I think she loves that it is a physical job and she keeps up with the guys.
Busy day today-I have to clean, do wash, go shopping for the shore (they don't have all the stuff we do at home), pack, pack the car and hopefully get some exercise in. We are seeing a community theater play that my son's friend has the lead. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. It is funny seeing these kids all grown up and living their lives Lol! I don't know why I am having this thing with time going by lately....He is so handsome but my girls still think of him as another brother "He's so annoying" They can't even admit he is handsome Lol! So we will have dinner out, I came across a gift certificate our daughter and husband gave us for a restaurant. I am going to suggest there instead of the bar. Too many tempting foods at the bar. Not sure if I am going to the shore after the play or early tomorrow. My guess is tomorrow. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Btw-the doctor said there was just a very small amount of degenerative changes, nothing more than would be normal for my age so he said the pain wasn't from that. Ugh! I thought I would have answers.

I'm calling this a win. Last weekend was birthday party with too much pie (it was my joy food over extended and boy it was DELICIOUS!) but this whole week I've done an amazing job keeping on track. Like last night I cooked up some potato slices in the air fryer to get them crispy, cooked some chicken tenderloins, heated a mixed bag of veg and mixed them all together in the skillet with some salt, pepper and garlic. The hubs said the food was so good and he loves eating like this. I love it too. I also make the same meal with ground beef. SO...this week has been a win!5 -

Anyway I will be going on vacation coming back very late Friday night so I won’t be able to weigh in til Saturday the 22nd morning. Hope it’s okay! One day late should not be a big deal I hope

Yesterday was a recover and get my act organized day! Didn't sleep as well as I had hoped as it never really cooled down. Congratulations to all the Raptor fans!! Your team played their hearts out and deserved to win!!
Today's going to be a good day. Plans include short dog walk, yoga class then our neighborhood ladies luncheon at a mexican restaurant. At the last two I just had a salad and water. Today I'm going to eat something heartier so I probably won't need dinner and might have a margarita TGIF!! It will be too hot to do much outside by the time I get home so hope to do some recreational reading as that has fallen by the wayside and some meal planning. Tomorrow is Farmer's Market and grocery shopping.

@sleepymom5 Swimming is supposed to be great exercise, isn't it? I would try to muster up the courage... I would think it would help your hip. Try not to think about what's in the water... they're more afraid of you than you are of them LOL. Sounds like you have a great plan for your time at the shore. Enjoy! Hugs!

And if that wasn't bad enough.... blood work came back. Blood sugar is a little HIGHER than it was last appointment. I was honestly expecting a significant improvement, not worse. After going through my diet and my exercise patterns, the doc is changing up my drugs. Putting me on something that will overwork my kidneys and increases risk of amputations but what can you do. He reminded me that three of the drugs I am on tend to put weight ON but was quick to say that was something I need to overcome, it's not an excuse. He also suggests I add some sort of weight training to my exercise (to help my cholesterol.) He also had some suggestions about diet changes.
Positive aspects - weight down 4 pounds since my last visit and bad cholesterol and triglycerides much improved. So I must be doing some small things right.
He is a good doctor.
Wyfe and I are having a long discussion about all this.5 -

I have been doing good with my workouts. I did take off yesterday and today. My body needed it. But I will be back at it tomorrow. I plan on walking all the rail trails that are around my area. I try to walk about 1 1/2 -2 miles then turn around and go back. So I get a good walk in. I enjoy it. My sister and niece are coming tomorrow to go swimming. My sons girlfriends sister is planning her baby shower. I had him check in with her today because noone is really telling me anything except to get her a list. She says she wants to keep it small, only about 30 people. My list was 24 people. How do you tell family they can't come? Trying to figure out what to do. I thought maybe just have my own for her but does that make me an *kitten*? Tough choice. I'll have to figure something out quick.2 -

yesterday was a beautiful day. the weather was lovely. the sun was shining. i was getting my hair done and i got a phone call. it was the boss from the job i just interviewed for. he offered me the position. wow. was a crazy wonderful day. at the wedding was me, Jim, My youngest son, Gene, Jims daughter and son and his sons wife. we went out to dinner afterwards and then went to my folks for a visit. Mom doesn't feel well and dad didn't want to leave her side. we are now husband and wife. and just like that my wedding day is in the books. sunday i take gene back to the airport and then monday we will leave for our honey moon. food wise i did well. water, i should have drank some but we were so busy and i really didn't see, 20 bathroom breaks making it easier.
@Moarrein yeah! good job. that is a really nice loss. keep up the hard work.

@sleepymom5 sometimes struggles are important. life is never going to be easy every day. we need to learn to be the new us even on tough days. this is just who we are now. start with the basics pam. eat when you slightly hungry and stop when your satisfied. pay attention to your body. put a sticky note by the place you sit to eat to remind you to slow down and listen to your body. it is a new skill, but a very important one to relearn. and you do have to get over it and get in the water. you have every right to be there. doesn't matter. your strong and fierce. not get in there!!
@carlsoda and your dinner sounds YUMMM. and maintains are good especially when you have a very indulgent day with the pie!!
@lenka1 ayayyay... nice loss. you are doing great. lol and a smorgasbord is a feast for sure. i have not been to one in a very long time. but have enjoyed them a time or 12!!
@nstephenson01 how are you doing with the yoga? did you find a class that you liked? i know you were trying them all for a while. our farmers markets do not have produce yet. i wish they would hurry up. and recreational reading is good for the soul. it is beautiful self care.
@gottagetthisdown yeah look at the new you go! print that plan out and keep it with you, then check things off the list as you go. it is building a new habit so it is going to talk some time to have it come naturally. remember the story i posted about the ball and the sand hill.
@eyesopennow and i am going to tell you that that is not bad at all. have you and wyfe (since she is the cook) taken a diabetes class? they usually give them at the hospitals. i learned a lot about the right ratios of your food choices there. i am sorry this is a struggle for you. but your doctor is right. you cannot use that as an excuse. i know it is really easy for me to say and much harder for you to do. but it can be done. and it can be done by you!! this is the last time we are going to lose this weight mike. we are going to make this happen this time. sit down and make a formal plan. what do you need to do to make this great healthy new mike. write it out. do the four circle goals. that will then tell you what you need to do every day. you really need to take this seriously because you and i both know this is life or death. now..... carve out the time you need to make this plan and lets get busy together.
@ljdanny i don't think that makes you a *kitten* at all. many people have two baby showers. one for one side of the family and one for the other. so i don't think it is off the wall. but i would discuss it with you son and his girlfriend. and let them know what your thinking and get there input. and your right. that is a tough position to be in. but your a tough lady you got this.
