Good day, just way too cold!! Nevertheless, it is off for Mah Jongg and Cribbage this morning followed by coloring at the library this afternoon. By the way, we has a very nice time at the library on Saturday. I got little accomplished on the projects I took along (as expected) but loads of fun talking with everyone and hours spent looking through all the free odds and ends available to us. I found some paper, which was immediately cut, for some 5 X 7 cards. An interesting multicolor (silk) ribbon and I have used some on Sunday’s journal page.

Must grab onto each occasion! As feared, the librarian who puts all of the arts and crafts offerings told me she has decided to retire in about a year. These programs may all be jettisoned when the person with all the ideas and skills leaves. A lady who had a cornea transplant made it there for a little while. She has been missed for several months. And I had a bundle of little word dies for another very talented lady. She has not been to anything for a while as she had not been feeling well and had taken several falls. I found out she had surgery for colon cancer about a week ago. No word on what is planned for her treatment.

So, I am wrestling everything I can out of each day. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

May your days be filled with little pleasures and as much joy and happiness as possible.

    Hugs.

Happy Tuesday! :) Very cold here also but will sit for the kiddos later. I will get there early enough for Lisa to run her errands but then she is taking the boys for dinner and then they are going to a craft night at Robby's school. That means I will only have Charlie and Ewok and Charlie goes to bed at 6:30. Should be an easy day, I hope. Sometimes I feel guilty about not helping Lisa enough. When her mom and dad are here she relies on them more than me. I tell myself there are two of them so it is easier for them but I did so much with the other grandchildren when they were young. Of course I was young myself so it made it much easier.
Sorry just needed to get that off my chest.

Lin, enjoy your day with all of it's exciting activities. I do hope someone else will step in when your librarian retires, maybe you???

Buzz, I think you need to sign out of MFP and sign back in, it sounds like cookies are messed up. Glad you are feeling better each day.

Hello to everyone else who are on another page, have a great day.

    Hello sneaker dears!
It is a wet and dark day, also a wet, COLD, dark day. Time for Christmas music and lights and making soup.

We are having fun with the ongoing research and learning about programming our remote on the new smart TV. Gone are the days when you buy an electronic devise and just plug it in and use it. Noooo! You have to fuss around with some internal computer that is determined to cause trouble. But we will defeat this demon devise!

Sandy: i feel like I am not a real grandmother. I have one grown grandson and I have not seen him in over a year...maybe two years. There seems so little real communication it truly is a sad situation. I had such a great relationship with my grandparents. They were fun and we had great times together. So, I think you are a wonderful grandmother. You have bonded with all the children beautifully.

Lin: Sandy’s idea is worth considering seriously. just an idea, but you would be a perfect special programs diector for the library. You are so caring and a very devoted library patron. You are talented and knowledgeable about crafts and materials. Looks like perfect match to me.

    Stay warm everyone.

Well, we are watching the snowflakes gently falling on a very cold looking surveyor who appears to be measuring our double car garage. Guess it was forgotten the other day.

I've had a communications day I guess. First I put in a big order for the groceries for Thursday figuring things are heating up in the pre Christmas rush. They are. I couldn't get the time slot I wanted, it's much later in the day delivery now. I think my little green van with the pictures of carrots and asparagus is being discovered.

Secondly I phoned my cousin in dear old GB to offer sympathy because her husband of 61 years has just died. Apparently he had been ill for quite a while in hospital with a heart problem. Anyway we had a long enjoyable chat under the circumstances. I'm just left wondering what Ma Bell will charge me because I no longer have a cheap rate plan.

Our dear little grandchildren grow up PATSY. We don't want them to but they just do. I rarely see Devin now who lives a distance away but I do get to see my artistic rascal Derek at least four times a year. He's so much fun that the four times make up for weekly visits. He's the one who's going to inherit the ground I'm sitting on, but will pay for rebuilding himself.

Yes I can see LIN MOST efficiently taking over the library project. However, it may take away the enjoyment she gets now with her retirement hobby. A lot of extra pressure having to handle a bunch of artistic ladies don't you think?

Hope all you northern ladies have kept bundled up and warm as the temperature plummets yet again.
And warm and DRY if you are in Cornwall!
God bless us every one to quote that irritating Cratchit child Tiny Tim.

Anne with the red nose. (After asking why a strange gent is crawling around the garage.)

High winds, torrential rain even if milder kept the dogs in their beds most of the morning. George refused to even pop in the garden for a pee but preferred to keep his legs crossed! The chimney sweep came to do his thing just after midday then off I went round the block but continually looking skyward in case branches or even whole trees fell in our direction. It was one of those days... A struggle to get out, dark and dismal even with lights on and the fire struggling to draw because the wind now had a clear chimney to blow down!! At least at some point a delivery of coal was made although I didn't hear him what with wind and rain against the windows. Also the postman knocked and handed me 2 packages from M and S, one with a couple of pairs of jeggings in nice long lengths (31") and the other containing 2 small but warm vests... happy days!

Gone midnight now and standing outside while George and Betty had their final trip into the garden before bed I could see a bright full moon in a clear sky which means the storm has moved on.

Time for this little household to get some shut eye! Nite, nite 💤💤💤

Oh, wow. Sounds like everyone has plenty to take care of, and SANDY, if it helps to get it off your chest, go ahead and say what's on your mind, because it may help next time you help with the little ones (which we all know you will, of course!)
PATSY, I just read in our paper about special lights doctors are recommending for reading and other things for people living where you live. SAD is more and more evident come the dark days!
ANNE, as your move grows closer, are you feeling more emotional? The trauma will be huge, but I suspect you are preparing well for it. I thought I had done a great job of getting rid of extraneous "stuff", no longer necessary at this age, when I moved here 7 years ago. but either I've gathered almost as much again, or I was kidding mself, but there's a load of "stuff" that needs a new home again!
JACKIE, Judy was asking after you at dinner tonight. She was explaining to others about how much meeting with you meant to them and how she looks forward to another visit when they get to Cotswold again, where their son lives about 40 miles away! They're headed up to Virginia Monday for the holidays with their daughter. My daughter is not far from there, too!
LIN, I hear the suggestions and know the library could not find any better than you, but I'm also wondering if the kind of committment it would involve is really what you want at this point in your life. Staying in a nice warm cozy safe home during a miserable weather day is such a comfort, and I suspect you would feel guilty about doing that if you feel you are "letting people down"!
Here it is, alost 11PM. Watched the TV much of the day and am sickened by the "interpretations " (or are they lies?) emanating from supporters of the orange one! The Christmas concert I attended this evening certainly left me in a better mood!
Bit by bit, My joints seem to be improving, or am I getting used to them? Whatever, I don't dread getting up any longer! And I am getting more sleep!

Well, the sun is shining at the moment but our morning walk began with a hail storm and finished in much the same awful weather. I realised we would be horribly exposed on the moors so took George and Betty to the woods where we had some shelter. I should have thought twice about climbing high but no, off I went with dogs in tow and all was fine until naturally what goes up must come down and I found myself on a steep path that had a layer of leaves covering thick, squelchy mud. Concentrating on not sliding I didn’t see George take a different path until I reached the bottom and turned to call. He’d walked into a dead end covered in brambles and refused to turn back! Of course Betty had followed him but did at least have the sense to work her way across to me as I climbed back to George. In the end we made it back safely to the car then on the way home I stopped at Sue the gardener’s old home to collect mail as she is apparently still in the process of redirecting, then the farm shop for a hot pasty and bottle of red wine I’ll open tomorrow as I sit into the night watching our election results. I don’t know if your news outlets have shown you the latest Boris Johnson election broadcast where he plays out a scene from the movie Love Actually but it made me laugh. Of course most of the time I’m convinced if I didn’t laugh I’d be crying over the state of our parliament!

I’ve one of my relaxing pedicures in an hour so must tidy up before the lovely lady arrives; write a Christmas card for her too.

    Happy Wednesday everyone 🙋🏼‍♀️

Good morning, off to the store in a few minutes. I waited a bit as the roads were slick but have improved now, apparently.

Jackie, okay, I like the commercial. Thanks for sharing it. I am sure if I had to vote I probably would not have viewed it as positively. My gosh, poor Jackie having to rescue George. Glad no one was hurt. Oooh, a pedicure. Ahhhhhh.

Thanks everyone for your suggestion but the job is much more involved than anything I would ever want to do and it is full time and requires evening hours. And the city would never hire an old person. Volunteer yes, hire no.

Anne, I am sorry for the loss in your family. And goodness, even grocery delivery is getting backed up? Gosh.

Patsy, new things are interesting but sometimes difficult. Do you have everything mastered now?

I purchased some AirPods. Due to arrive about 2pm, they were delivered about 7pm. The USPS said they were on my front porch but again nothing was there. I threw my coat on and trekked in the dark and cold to the mailboxes, thank the Lord, the package was there. An error on the part of the carrier in specifying delivery location. I would have been very upset if these had been stolen. I am not sure I want to keep them so I ordered from a place that will allow returns through the first of the year.

Buzz, I continue to avoid hours of the coverage as I think I would be so ill I would have a stroke. A summary on national news is enough for me.

Sandy, what is going on with you today? Car behaving? As an outsider, I feel you do a lot to help out. I am sending you a pat on the back!

Be safe everyone. Time to put on lots of outdoor clothing.

    Hugs.

We've just got home from the most freezing cold walk! We met Janice who was walking her sick neighbours dog but it was far too cold to gossip. Even the Bean was glad to get home with barely a stop to sniff.
I shall stay home tomorrow, follow the uk election and wait for the groceries. And either celebrate with a glass of port wine or drown my sorrows with a glass of port wine! Either way, for me anyway, win win.
Hope all you girls are donning your long johns and hats with ear flaps. You need them today,
    Anne, still thawing out.

Clever video but I really don't understand Brexit well enough to appreciate wheter to cheer or boo! It appears he and our orange maniac should have stuck to acting instead of politics, but I'm confused by your guy! I KNOW mine lies everytime he opens his bully mouth.
Waiting for a call back from social Security. I cannot believe I have everything wrong re: password, ID, Grandfather's name , etc., and they won't let me into my own account! There must be an answer! I no longer receive snail mail from them, so I can't find out what I will get next year.
I must have a bite for breakfast, or call it lunch. I really fall so far behind!
Sorry about your messy walk, JACKIE. It's hard to believe your hip was recently replaced!
Mydesk is so piled up I must dig into that, too!

Happy Wednesday! We had a dusting of snow but the sun has melted it. It is cold but this is Chicago. Going to bingo tonight but first a visit with my friend who is making chili for us.
I also have to stop at Kohl's either today or tomorrow to buy a gift for the person who's name I took off the giving tree at church. She is requesting long sleeve shirts and pants. My ornament says she is at a rehab place so I am thinking she is a senior and will try to buy according.

Buzz, if your social security is like mine, I am getting a $3.00 raise. I don't know what I will do with all that money. lol

Anne, stay warm and good luck on the election. Like Buzz I have no idea if the commercial was for the good or bad guy.

Jackie, what an ordeal with your walk today. Your surgery was a big success if you can climb up and down steep hills. I hope both pups are safe and warm with the fire. Good luck with the election may the better guy win.

Lin, I wouldn't want all that responsibility with the library position either even if I got paid.
We are not retired for nothing we earned it!!!

Hello to Patsy and Jeri my prayers are still with you and your family.

    Have a good day.

Woooooah! Katie grooming day. That means vacuuming and dusting after everything is put away. It is a cold, wet and windy day. What was that saying...” a day not fit for mad dogs or Englishmen?” Something like that. Not sure of the quote or where it came from. Anne and Jackie....what say you?

"Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon day sun." I think PATSY. Anyway, this mad Englishwoman and her dog scarcely ventured out today. It's FREEZING out there.

In tropical climes there are certain times of day
    When all the citizens retire
To tear their clothes off and perspire
It's one of the rules the greatest fools obey.

Another saying maybe? "a day not fit for man nor beast".

Good morning. Writing a few checks and then off for a morning with the former library ladies. Looks like I need to shift some funds around or these checks will be scraping the bottom of the barrel. 😉

Sandy, big win at Bingo? I always wait to hear from you as I am amazed at the winnings that are possible. You have lots to do. We don’t have an angel tree for people this year, it is an angel tree for the church but the tags with the needs have not been posted yet but the Deadline of December 22nd has been announced. Whaat??

Patsy, oooh, grooming day. I am sure everyone was tired at the end of the day.

Jackie and Anne, thanks for the updates. Must watch the video again. Lovely.

Buzz, like Sandy, my Social Security increase was tiny. Even with an account, I have to login with user ID and password and then have to wait for a code to be sent to me. Enter that and agree to privacy and usage terms and finally can get to my messages. Good grief. I refused to opt out of paper copies although it is a very long time before anything arrives. Good luck getting this straightened out.

Anne, happy late grocery delivery day to you. I hope it warm up a bit. The temperature here actually increased a few degrees overnight. But maybe some freezing rain later or tonight.

Jackie, glad you received a coal delivery and hope today is brighter than yesterday.

Hello Diane, Shirley, Jeri and Marie. Hugs all round.

Meeting today and then some shopping. I did go to Kohl's yesterday before my friends but there were about 20 people waiting to cash our their items so I left. I will try again today when I have more time.

Gateway groceries arrived and I must put away, but just wanted to tell you that Jilly Bean and I are so happy that it IS Dorio delivering again. He was off for four weeks because he hurt his back! Jilly was called "pretty girl" so I guess she was forgiven for running away a few weeks ago.
I'm excitedly waiting the British election results. Oh Dorio's ex wife went to Britain on holiday and brought him back a big pack of tea! He liked it. Less greasy than here he said.

Soggy day here! Dark and wet and cold! This is the reason we have these heavy wool sweaters. Oddly, the warmest I have ever seen is made of llama wool. There is a group here that spin and weave natural fibers and even use natural dyes. The scarfs and sweaters are “over the moon” expensive, but very beautiful. I do have a llama scarf that John bought me. I really treasure it. It is a deep cranberry color and indeed, there is some of our local cranberries in the dye.

Loved the Noel Coward video. How on earth does he make his tongue go that fast? Thanks Anne!

Jackie: iPads are wonderful once you get used to a few strange and puzzling procedures. Of course, no one tells you, there are no manuals or how to instructions. One must just blunder along.

Katie is sort of groomed. She is very uncooperative. We have to convince her that we are not trying to kill her. She hates for us to brush or trim her legs, head, tail or toenails. That is a lot of doggy real estate that we have to conjole her into getting groomed. Whew!

Sandy: I am not cut out to be a gambler. My dad was naturally lucky at cards and gambling in general. No matter what the game he always won. But he only gambled when he felt the urge to play. He played big stakes in Los Vegas and WON several thousand dollars. He won several smaller lotteries.

Lin: it is lovely that your ex library ladies still keep in touch. It must have been a great compatible group. That doesn’t happen very often.

Coffee, more research, mop kitchen floor. Coffee first, in the dungeon with Christmas music gently urging me on.
    Sending you all holiday love,

I don't enjoy my iPad because the instructions are included INSIDE, where I still seem to need a password to find them!!!
Finally heard from Social Security,...Hallallujah! A $2 raise for me. Of course, they are taking out my part D (Drug plan) and Medicare went up! Would the Orange Blech like to tell me my finances have improved because of him?
Hello everyone, just letting you know I woke up this morning, pinched myself and am grateful to be alive! Boca was hit bylightening last night and our generators and power kept going on and off 1/2 the night! One of our residents kept yelling she had no phone service! I'm off to dinner...XOXOXO

Past midnight and I’m watching our election results come through. It appears funny bumbling Boris will win with a large majority so we can finally get out of the European Union.

You will have to believe me when I say my lost post was full of interesting observations on our continuing ghastly weather, a visit to my friend Les who is 94 and lively in spite of a few health problems and planning meals to cook in my new slow cooker. Just fill in the gaps!

Whoa Buzz, you often mention overhead storms but that strike sounds too close. Glad you’re safe. ❤️

Oh no, if I turn back a page I’ll probably lose this post so better just finish here. I can hear hail crashing on the roof of the conservatory so perhaps I should get myself off to bed.

    Hello

Can anyone tell me how to get my picture on here again?

We have had a dump of snow this week and driving this week has been icy. So today I went to pick up my book from the library for the book club I am in and they sent it back. I waited a week to get it as it was put on hold for me. Since I didn't get there in time, 5 days, they sent it back. I was very frustrated. I have to get this read by Jan. 14th and it doesn't look good as I am not a speed reader LOL. I think I will go to a used bookstore tomorrow and just buy it.

We babysat Isaac, our grandson, last weekend and we took him to the Santa Parade in Mt. Albert where he lives. He loved it and we had a great time with him. He's only 4 and he read me a book from his school. I was floored. We finally got his school pictures and he is so adorable. We are proud grandparents.

I went to the movies today with my friend Deb and saw JUDY with Renee Zellweiger. I would recommend it.

I will be finishing up baking this week and gifts are wrapped. Our eldest daughter and her husband will be hosting Christmas this year, her first time. So I guess I am ahead of schedule this year.

Well have a good evening, until next time.

    Shirley

Recovered from my late night that extended until gone 2am, have walked across the moors in sunshine, yes sunshine (!!) and must now go out for a few shopping items then collect a parcel from the post office depot that the delivery man couldn't be bothered to pop in a safe place!! Oh dear, grumpy woman. :s It is cold but dry so I'll take the dogs with me because we pass the woods I often walk round and they can have a quick sniff amongst the leaves then snooze in the car while I shop. I'm feeling a bit more positive about our political situation but naturally only time will tell. :)

    Happy Friday everyone.

Good morning, our snow disappeared overnight. Not much was left though. Now a day or more of overcast, intermittent drizzle, freezing rain and who know what. Haaaaaa. I am staying home today. The laundry is chugging away, mushroom gravy is cooking and I am plotting to make some type of soup.

Congrats to the UK on a definitive election. I don’t know how things will turn out but it seems Boris and the Conservatives have a chance this time! All due to the great political commercial I would think. 😉

Shirley, a lovely weekend. Going to a parade is always exciting. And good for him, reading a book! Well done. I haven’t gone to my own profile for a long time and do not know how to add a photo these days. My friends with premium memberships add and post photos all the time.

Buzz, oh dear, these increases are insults aren’t they? Storms always make my heart beat faster. We had no storm here yesterday afternoon but there was much moaning as part of the metro lost phone, I termed and TV service through one of the large providers. People were busy posting on Facebook with their cell phone service. Certainty an inconvenience but not like having storms threatening storm damage and power outages.

Sandy, what a lucky gal you are!! Wahoo!

Anne, I will admit I didn’t stay up late but I got a news blast on my phone indicating Boris had a majority. No celebrating although I did smile.

Patsy, good day. Are you set for Christmas now?

Oops, the laundry is calling to me.

    Hugs.

Happy Friday! :) I too, am doing laundry and hoping to get the few cards I send out today.
Still thinking of wrapping presents, it will get done one day.

Shirley, go to home, select profile, select profile pictures and then upload to the one you want.
Once on your profile page click on it to make it current profile picture. Hope that helps.
I am impressed with Isaac reading, I know Robby is learning to read and write but I am not sure he can read a book.

Lin, the luck seems to come in spurts, I love it when it happens when I need it.

Anne and Jackie, congratulations on the win!!! I really have to admit I know nothing about England's politics, it is hard enough keeping up with ours.

Buzz, I am grateful each day that I wake up to a new day.

    Have a great day everyone.

What an afternoon! After checking opening times of the depot I set off with George and Betty, had a rather wet stroll in the woods where I met a young woman sitting on a picnic seat while her delightful tiny Jack Russell raced about in the mucky leaves sniffing out squirrels then drove to a local store for a few items. This was timed around the evening opening time of the depot but when I arrived I was told my parcel had been left at the main post office which is open all day! Never mind I thought as I walked round the corner joined by a lady I sometimes meet when I walk the dogs In the village, hopefully it isn’t the heavy teak table I’m expecting! As we waited in the queue my companion told me her husband had passed away 2 months ago and she wasn’t going to do Christmas but her son persuaded her and a part of that decision was to buy herself a 51” tv. She was hoping it wasn’t what she was supposed to collect but yes, with no consideration both our bulky, heavy packages had been deposited there. As it was explained to my new friend that the post office counter staff decided they had nowhere to store her tv so returned it to the seller my hefty package was brought out! The girl struggling with it was worried where my car was and how was I going to carry it but although I explained It was in the car park across the road my new friend grabbed it with a come on and off we went. Luckily the pedestrian crossing lights had stopped the traffic so we rushed over then down a dark alley to car park but as we got there she collapsed against a wall so I told her to stay there while I went to get my car and drive to her. We had to push the back on the rear seat forward without squashing Betty, heaved the package in and managed to close the back. I gave her a big hug before she left but am also going to buy her a thank you gift and drop it off as I’ve a good idea where she lives. The table is a thank you gift for my neighbours who helped me through the weeks around my hip replacements and who did I see as I put the car away in my garage? 🤫 The bulky package had to be left so I didn’t have to explain what it is!! Think my wheelbarrow is going to be needed to get it into my cottage.

Goodness, wasn’t I gasping for a cuppa when I finally walked through the door! 😛. That was followed by a glass of leftover wine from last night while I enjoyed baked fish and steamed veggie but am now back on cups of tea!

Sandy and Lin enjoy your day at home and Anne the fact little old England won’t be turned into a communist state after all!

The wind is still howling and rain and hail showers crashing down but it’s cosy in front of the fire. An early night for sure. 😴

Friday the 13th! What a day! Boris in England! Trump emmpeached in the US! What happens now? Exciting times worldwide. I have high hopes for our country to be united again. We have suffered a great deal in recent years.

The new smart TV is way smarter than we are, I can tell you that. We must program the remote and things that should be self evident ARE NOT! Love the big wide screen and the great picture quality. Now if we can just figure out all these buttons and controls...

Christmas will be just a bit weird for us this year. We are taking it day by day. Our son is coming in and he insists on bringing the turkey again. He is such a love! Things are in the air when it comes to our daughter. She has such health issues we never know what her status will be. No matter. We will get in touch with her one way or another. On Christmas Eve I will make our Cajun gumbo. It was a tradition when I was growing up. Only diffence will be that John has banned okra. What? I will not quote his nasty description of that wonderful vegetable.

The visiting cat has become so at home in the garden shed and under a small evergreen shrub near the garage door it is rather shocking. John worries about this funny character and takes an occasional can of tuna out to the shed to keep him/ her alive. We have never petted this cat or offered to let it in the house. It belongs to a neighbor who really likes this cat. We never know how to handle this. We can’t just ignore this cat. Bad weather etc can be life threatening for the poor character.

Hope your holidays are filled with joy and goodwill.
    Love,
    Patsy☘️

I'm truly confused reading the remarks about the UK Election yesterday. Sounded to me like you voted in another Trumpster, yet as I read it, you are very pleased. To me, Conservative is what's tearing my country apart now. Is it different on Britain? Conservative seems to be covering for Putin interfering in our elections, ...and will be continuing to do so with the blessings of our Conservative (?) Republican Party! Please tell me I'm wrong! The conservative here in the USA are lieing through their teeth to keep the world's #1 Bully/liar/name calling coward in his White House. How is Johnson different? Am I ever confused!
So far, I'm holding my own weight-wise during this holiday season, but if they keep BearClaw ice cream (very dark rich chocolate) on our menu, I just might not continue my streak!
My daughter says she is no longer freaked out regarding her condition. Since she seems to feel better, she will just accept things as they come!!! Reports are still waiting to be sent to Mayo Clinic!
Interesting reading of everyone's posts, and am sorry for the package problems etc! Cannot sit any longer, so I'm blowing kisses to you all!
