Hi all, I’m April from Canada. I have three boys (20 - 15). Currently working from home but expecting to get back to in-office work in next while. I have struggled with my weight since the birth of my third son; I got up to 220 as my highest weight and got my butt in gear once covid hit.
Happy to be on track now and aiming to hit 125 - 130 as my goal weight.
November goals
*continue to lose 1 pound a week.
*get back to IF. Working from home has been a challenge - food is all around !
*every other day strength training .
*improve water intake - I downloaded a plant nanny app to track.
*start an at home step class (still waiting for my eye to arrive).
I’ve been working on fitness quite alot since sept. I’m jogging, taking exercise classes and hand weights at home.7 -

Weigh in week 1
Weigh day Sunday
PW: 248.0 (112.5 kg)
CW 247.5 (112.3 kg)
LTD: 28.4 (12.9 kg)
Not bad, not brilliant. But less than I weighed at the start of last month, so I call that winning. 😃 Same goal for November!6 -
Hi everyone, and welcome newcomers. I'm Kristy, 41, from New Zealand. I've been married to my husband for 18 years, and we have four children - 17, 15 and twins turning 12 in a few weeks.
I have a boring day job where I work in payments compliance for a company that designs outdoor payment terminals (mainly used at gas stations - pay at pump, our products are all over the world). I'm also a qualified personal trainer, and while I'm not currently working in it, I do have my own gym set up in my garage 💪
My weight story starts in childhood with disordered eating starting around 9 or 10. By 16 I was 230 lbs, by 20 I was 280. After I met my husband at 21 I lost some, but got married, had kids... my highest weight that I know was 159kg - 350 lbs I think - at full term pregnant with my twins.
In late 2011 I decided that something had to give. My mother had weight loss surgery which prompted me to turn it down. It was right for her but not for me. So between Weight Watchers and then finding MFP at the start of 2013, I lost 73 ish kg (160 lbs). I then maintained it for a few years before injuring myself, being diagnosed with several things including Binge Eating Disorder, Anorexia, Chronic Pain and Migraines, went to pieces and slowly put a lot of weight back on.
So I started back logging daily again on MFP in February, after a lot of therapy to recover from the ED's. I am losing slowly because my body loves to throw pain and migraines at me, but losing is losing.
I live right near the beach, so I try and get out walking every weekend. Weekdays I stick to cardio in the form of my Spin Bike most days, and then I lift weights when I can. I also do a lot of yoga.
Goals for November are to weigh less at the end of the month than where I started. I would really like to get under 110 kg, but these days I am realistic that my body will do what it wills!
I have also tentatively set myself a longer term goal, it's not in stone because my overall goal is still health rather than a number on the scale. But I would love to get back under 90 kg (200 lbs) by 21 July 2021. That's my daughter's 18th birthday. Seems reasonable, so I shall have a stern talk with my body about cooperating!

Check in for the weekend
Food-logged and on target
Water-64 oz
Exercise-stationary bike 15 min (Sat) and 20 min (Sun). PT and stretching both days, Strength Sat.
I had a good weekend! I feel like I am back on track and in my routine. Hope to finish up my fall cleaning this week. I also am going to get to 30 min on the stationary bike. Otherwise, nothing exciting. I am still working on overeating and hunger. I think that won't change for a while. Hope everyone has a great day!
@1theresamcvean and @minstrelofsarcasm I forgot to post my starting weight for Nov-201.4lbs
@pacsnc6 I am happy to hear you are doing so well. xo
@1theresamcvean I love that Nov pic, it makes me want to go hiking! It is amazing how far you have come from seeing that pic, it is almost like you were reborn from that to this healthy life. Awesome goals for November!
@kandi3570 You have come so far! I am glad you have a little less running around that you can (hopefully) focus some time on yourself. I know that is hard to do with a young child. Love your goals!
@GingerPwr I love your goals for November! I am working on being consistent with these things too.
@tryingagain5 What a funny thing not to run out of Lol! Sounds like you had a nice day though.
@mxlaw90 Those are awesome goals for November! I believe small steps add up quickly. I also agree about October, it flew by for me too!
@melaniedscott I like that you found exercise you can do with your health issues. I need to stop complaining and do the same. I also love your daily goals and Nov goals too!
@debbiewsharpe I love your little southern accent in your posts You are so inspiring, you have come so far and never looked back!
@Cafelelia Awesome November goals! You are are going to be at goal before you know it! I love the Halloween pics, what an awesome costume your younger son had!!
@kirsten11872 You really have done so well! How exciting you are so close to goal. You will be there before you know it!
@kika5105 I think you have come to the right place. We are so much more than a weight loss challenge, there is so much support here. I do suggest you post or at least check in here daily, especially if you are struggling. I like your goals! One day at a time-you got this!!
@minstrelofsarcasm You just are amazing! I forget how young you are I love the pic in your post, it took me a long time to figure out that is the way to do this!
@Zumba_Luvah Awesome NSV!! You have worked so hard and you are seeing results!
@ljdanny I never realized how similar we were with gaining our weight during pregnancies-you were smart and stopped at 2 instead of continuing the cycle 5 times lol! I gained 70 with each. Nice steps this week too, I am sure it feels good to get back to walking. Do you still have to eat so slowly? Just randomly driving in the car the other day I heard a tip to use your fork in your non dominant hand to slow down,I thought of you and started wondering why you were told to eat slower after surgery.
@goingape I love your Nov. goals. I was also very impressed on the regular MFP newsfeed (not sure what that is called) that you ended up doing the C210K and are on week 9! I thought you were going to wait until the spring. That is awesome! You really are inspiring!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx I love your goals, especially the one about weighing less each month than when you started. I think you LTG to get under 200 lbs by July is a totally doable one! I know you can get there! xo
@mainebeachbum Nice loss! Hope all is going well!
@4newrunner22 Nice to meet you! I hope you get as much from this group as I do!

@sleepymom5 yes I was reading the October group comments and you all are so supportive and I need that so bad! I with to be healthy for me and my kids. Im so excited to start this!3

Sunday check in
Good day yesterday. Stayed on plan and did longer IF. It turned cold overnight and there was a light dusting of snow on the rooftops this morning. But it won’t stick around and the weather is turning warm again this week. We made a massive stew and pot of soup yesterday, so it is nice not having to cook supper today. I already went for a walk today, so for once, am ahead of schedule! Hope that everyone has a great day!2 -
@sleepymom5 I wasn't told to eat slower it just kind of the way it went. It was very hard to swallow food and drinks. I was just told to not eat meat and to eat soft foods. I tried eating a cheeseburger the other night and choked, I thought I was going to eventually need saving. I decided to throw it away and eat something else. I have picked up a little speed st eating.
Today I planned on doing a walking video because it's cold and windy but when I woke up my dog didn't look so good. We are at the emergency room. I hate that they dont let you in. They came and took her away and I'm left sitting here in the parking lot. They told me to stay here it could take up to 2 hours for all her results. It's sad out here, I had to just watch some older lady come put down her little pug. She had her daughter bring him in to have it done and she was here in her car devastated. I was bawling my eyes out. I cant take it. I brought a book with me but it's a little hard to concentrate.6 -

I did, Kirsten! You're all set for your Saturday weigh-ins.1 -

Hi Don, I grew up in Niagara Falls and Lisa @Cafelelia is from Niagara on the Lake. We both live in Toronto now. Welcome!1 -
Toronto is on a modified lock down, and COVID numbers are just not decreasing. So government and public health advice for Halloween was really confusing this year. I decided to go with what my 10 year old wanted to do! So we gave out candy via a poster tube, and our 10 year old went out trick or treating to just a few neighbours. We then ordered take out and watched a movie together. Normally we have over 100 kids, and just 10 came by last night. But we made the best of it, and best of all, my younger son was very happy. Here are my kids (older son is not into costumes any more) and also my candy distribution set up on the front porch.
Oh wow! I love your son's death doctor costume. I'm so glad he had a good Hallowe'en. I have a tear in my eye just thinking about it. Your older son is so much taller than his brother! I remember when my son grew taller, I used to go up a few stairs to hug him because he was still young and I knew he missed that kind of mom hug.1 -

Oh, Tracy. I'm so sorry to hear this. Waiting outside at the vet is very sad. I hope she's okay and that you are too. I'm crying a bit now too. Big hug.

Hi all,
Woot, shiny new thread! Welcome to all our new members - this is a super supportive group and am sure you'll fit in in no time.
So, quick intro, I'm Shelli, live in Edinburgh, Scotland with my best friend/flatmate and my adorable kitties. I've always had issues with my weight, I can't ever remember a time where I was happy with it - ironically I now look back at photos of me in my teens etc and think 'wow I look skinny' but at the time I felt huge. Hit my highest weight last year of about 210lbs and joined MFP in Jan/Feb of this year. It's been an up and down kind of year but I've accepted now that it's going to be a slow process and a relearning of many bad food habits, overall the scales are going in the right direction (even if I'm an impatient most of the time and wish they'd go a bit quicker lol). I don't think the extra stresses of lockdown have helped, but know I'm definitely not alone in that!
My goals for November:
I need to get back on the food plan and keep up my consistency. I feel like October has been spent mostly going up and down the same 5ish pounds, so I am determined to get under that number and stay there!!
Also need to fit more exercise in, have been slacking on this side and know I do feel a lot better when I make the effort.
Not going to put an exact figure in but would be very happy if I could make it into the 160s by December.
Anyway, hope everyone had a good weekend and a fun Halloween. I had a good night, me, my flatmate and his friend all dressed up a bit and we were on Twitch streams so were hanging with a lot of friends on there as well. Possibly a little 'too' fun in terms of calories Stayed away from the sweets but ended up having some vegan pasties and a super cute chocolate bat biscuit - and that's before we mention any of the liquid calories. Ah well, new week and all that so shall keep it low cals the next few days to balance out.
Also, here's one of my boys in his little vampire cape

Hello team and Happy November! My name is Sheryl and I live in Michigan. I have been using My Fitness Pal for many years and in 2016 I wandered into the community section of this App and have been loving the support from fellow MFP people ever since!!
I feel like I have been on a diet my entire life. I remember my mother doing Weight Watchers when it first came out in 1963, and it seems like I have been either eating out of control or dieting ever since then. Over the years I have made small changes and some of them have actually stuck with me! I gave up red meat around 1992, I gave up all caffeine around 1994, mostly because I have narcolepsy - but also because I drank too much coffee and POP (soda for those of you who can't translate pop!!) 2 years ago November 2018 I gave up all sweets because I have an addictive personality and sweets are one of those things I can't do in moderation!! Some of you long term members might remember when I made that pledge to give up the sweets. I had a new goal each month and that is the only one I actually stuck with 100% but I know for sure it has made a major difference in my life and how I eat. I am very good with my exercise and now I have been doing my small group workouts through my gym on Zoom meetings. I actually haven't missed a single day of my workouts since the Tuesday after Labor Day. I had gone away over the Labor Day weekend and didn't workout at all and was so mad at myself that I made it my mission to workout every day. Now with it literally being in my home, there is no excuse not to! I only have to allow enough time to brush my teeth and get dressed! I have my little designated workout area with my exercise bands and weights and as long as there is internet I am fine. During the months of April and May I was doing a YouTube workout I had found that required no equipment, and I did that workout until I was seriously bored with it. I am a creature of habit and I just went overboard with that weird habit, so I signed back up at my local gym and started doing their workouts - which is much better because of the variety and since they can talk to me I still feel like I am part of the class!
I really enjoy the support from all of you members of this group and the fun times we share. We also support each other through the tough times and that is wonderful. I love that I have friends from all over the world! Lets have a great November 2020 and help each other as we try to take care of our minds and our bodies!!5 -

@1theresamcvean that is a pretty picture but looks cold! It must be very pretty in summer with all the trees filled with green leaves.
The picture does look cold, but the reflection in the water is beautiful.
It is actually cold here too. It snowed last night and looked beautiful blowing around in the night sky. When I woke up this morning all the empty branches on the tree outside my bedroom window were covered in snow. It looked like December.1 -
@minstrelofsarcasm hi — meant to reply sooner. Magic bag is a fabric bag of grain that you can microwave and it’s nice and cozy.
@sleepymom5 - with C210K, I was going to wait for spring but the weather here is too good to waste and I have a break with my classes so I figured it was good timing to challenge myself a bit more. I will see how I do after this...
@ljdanny I hope you pup is feeling better soon.
@cafelel I love your set up for Halloween. I resorted to using tongs to hand out candy. 🙂
@lennoncpa your workout streak is awesome!!! That is a goal for me.
Welcome to the newcomers !1 -
Calories so far 895. Steps 12707. I had to pull an hour on the treadmill because I was lazy at work today and did paperwork. I have days like that sometimes. But I forced myself. And I did some core exercises with a 10 lb medicine ball. With lots of help from my dogs. My older dog just stares at me for countless hours a day. I swear. The medicine ball brushed her chest with every rep. 🙄. I have flabby upper arms anybody have any fixes for that? I seriously considered buying a shake weight. But there’s just something about it. Like if someone was driving up the road and could see me through the blinds!! 😂😂😂. I mean seriously I would do it though, if it worked. Maybe just in the basement.3

Question...
What do you all do for meal prepping?
Do you meal prep for the week?
A couple of days at a time?
Just the days you work?0 -
Hello everyone my name is Melz I’m 25 and I’m a line locator for the oilfield up in North Dakota. I mark out lines before people dig so they can find them and not hit them. I flag pipelines and well sites whenever someone needs to dig. Mainly when they are building locations or putting in pipelines. I love what I do. Some days I’m walking 9 miles through fields and hills other days I’m driving 300 and every day is a different adventure. I’m originally from Wyoming the least populated state in the U.S. My Fiance and I moved up here to follow the oilfield two years ago and luckily we have both kept our jobs through the bust.
I’ve always been a bit on the heavier side I was losing weight consistently before we moved but with the new stress of moving and eating too much out of gas stations, I regained all that I had lost plus a little bit. I was getting ready to restart my journey when my boyfriend of four years proposed in July and that has kick-started my weight loss. I’m an active person and because of my job I can walk forever but you can’t outwork a bad diet.
I spend my free time on jet skis or snowmobiles, hunting camping hiking, and anything outdoors.
November Goals
Work Out 3x per week Strength training
Yoga 1x Per Week
Post to the chat at least 3x per week
Monday check in
Food eh
Water bad
Steps 12,120
Today was a pretty good day it got back up to almost 70* after having snow just last week. We are supposed to get a really bad snow/ice storm this weekend though. I spent the first part of my day marking a well site for them to fix some water lines and probably walked 3 of my 5 miles on it. Spent the rest of the day helping out in another area doing electric locates. It has picked up again so I may get all my hours this week. This winter my work will slow down a lot (as it does every year) so I’m going to have to really work at getting my steps and burning calories. This is also the last week of nights for my fiancé then he’ll have two weeks of days then another three of night shift. It’s hard with him on nights I only get to see him maybe an hour or two a day with our opposite shifts. We are still doing our weekend date. We use to go to breakfast every morning at a place in town now we are doing lunch/dinner whenever he wakes up on Saturday 😊

@kika5105
I’m actually going to start meal prepping this weekend. We’re going to make egg roll in a bowl, vegetable soup, and my southwestern turkey. I have just been planning ahead and I do a lot in the crock pot during the week. But meal prep sounds so much easier as I have a teenager and I’m constantly making 2 meals or we share the meat but I make different sides for us. I will let you know if I feel like it’s more or less work to meal prep my meals on sundays.3 -
I was having a great day food wise yesterday.... until I decided to finish off half a bag of jalapeno kettle chips.
Ugh.
I know TOM is on the horizon but I can't give into those cravings and expect to lose weight.
Today is a teacher work day, so I'm going to work from home, vote, and maybe take a couple of walks.4 -

Monday check in
Pretty good day for a Monday. I ate on plan and exercised. Even though we got the extra hour of sleep from the time change, I am feeling a bit groggy from it. I think because it gets dark earlier. I am trying to take in some extra water to help and some sunlight if the sun comes out today.
@kandi3570 - We have some pros on this team when it comes to exercise. I am not one of them! But I find with upper arms, some straight up free weights really help (triceps & curls), plus pushups (not my favorite, but they work). Just my own experience that while it takes time to build muscle, once you do, some of the flab goes. Not a perfect solution, but it does help. I don’t do it now, but I have done boxing in the past, and that is also a great workout for the arms.
@kika5105 - I think that meal planning and prep, can really simplify things. I have to cook for a teenager too, and cook for the entire family much of the week, although my husband helps on the weekend. I have done meal prep in different ways. Right now, I plan out the week in advance (whenever I have time), we batch cook soups and mains (usually Sunday afternoons), and I also do advance food prep for packed lunches and even breakfasts (eg wash fruits/veggies in advance, make overnight oats etc). I try to minimize how much different food that I am cooking for everyone, but it is inevitable because I am a vegetarian, so some of my mains are different. I found it took some time and experimenting to find what worked best for us. But I am happy that we stuck with it because it really helps during the busy weekdays and also helps me stay on track with healthy eating.2 -
Hi all,
@kandi3570 - good job on the exercise! My kitties are awful for getting in the way, they've learned to sort of stay out of the firing line when I'm doing cardio but any type of yoga/pilates type thing and they love winding between my feet or sitting under me when I'm trying to do a bridge or something If you wanna try the shake weight then go for it - am sure you could close the blinds and if someone sees then so what lol!
@kika5105 - I will admit I'm very hit and miss with the meal planning but when I do do it then I like having options so tend to make things that are flexible - eg I'll make up a big batch of Quorn mix and then might do chilli with it one day, spag bol another, make some lettuce wraps another etc. Or I'll try and plan around my schedule for the week - so I know I'm going to have a couple of days where I'm working long hours I'll make sure I either have leftovers or a few 'quick and easy' options in (like eggs or soup) so I'm not as tempted to go for something rubbish.
@GingerPwr - yup, am with you, was doing really well and then temptation struck (and think it's very much a TotM thing for me as well). I guess it's only one day

Not too bad. Given in to some crap food choices today but trying not to get too fixated on it. Will def do my zumba class tonight and hopefully that will burn it off - haven't done it in weeks so is going to kill me lol.
Thinking of all of you in America today. Hope you get your votes in and have my fingers and toes crossed for a good result for you - and that there isn't too much trouble whichever way it goes4 -
Hello and Happy Tuesday team. I thought I would pop in and say hello to everyone. I did my morning workout and that always starts out my day on a good note! I was getting to do some outdoor clogging or line dancing when the weather was nice, but that has come to a halt. This week the weather is going to be in the 60's so we are trying to talk my line dance instructor into doing an outdoor class. The weird thing is that with the daylight time change we would have to start much earlier or I think its getting dark at like 5 pm!!! You guys would probably laugh if you saw my refrigerator. I live alone and can't be trusted with too much food - so I have to limit what is in my refrigerator. The shelves are almost bare except for vegetables and hummus! Isn't that terrible that I can't trust myself not to eat everything in the house!!3
