JACKIE, just found your post after my latest. I'll quit worrying! And LIN has appeared as well!
I have to confess I didn't put the light on because I didn't want to wake the Bean up! If I put the light on she thinks it's morning. However I will put on the light from now on because me landing on my back with a loud thump woke her up instead. Not easy getting over-end with a wet tongue licking one better.

    Beans mom.

I read a sample of “Max the Miracle Dog” this afternoon after hearing Kerry Irving read from the book on his sunset video last evening. I loved it so after checking to see if the library has the book (no, of course they do not) I ordered the paperback. It should arrive in a few days.

I did start on the 4th of July cards. So a bit productive today.

    I hope everyone is well.

What a large house in the distance…..

    “Polperro village- Cornwall, England.

This charming Cornish fishing village is famed for its beautiful cottages covered with a profusion of summer flowers and spectacular views of land and sea. They cling to the steep hillsides around a small harbour where for centuries Pilchards were caught in abundance to be sold far and wide. But by the18th century the village was more notorious for smuggling activities, and it seemed everyone in the village conspired to hide the duty-free goods from the excise men.

The streets are so narrow they are banned to cars, which makes Polperro an ideal place to explore on foot.”

Morning morning! Looks like a great day ahead with sun and mid-70’s. Rather than give a minute-by-minute of yesterday…here are a couple pics from the day. Melanie gave us the “Girl Power” rubber bands – so cute. Great to see so many people acting somewhat normal and kids being kids.

Today, we are going to the movies to see “Wrath of Man.” We had a gift card for ages and decided to use it.
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

Sandy – Jean would love that tie-dye shirt! Nice to see you bouncing in the air….

Patsy – Like you we managed to squeeze in a few Memorial Day TV performances and a bit of Lee Greenwood… just LOVE that song! Also seems like we have similar relatives with most military branches covered in the past and present. So important to remember those that gave their lives for us to enjoy all the freedoms we have.

Lin – As you can see we did have a long and active Memorial Day. It was awesome. Good luck with your new designs for the 4th of July and June Birthdays. Yesterday would have been my sisters birthday, but she passed at age 69 back in 2007… how quickly time flies. I need to make a card for my daughter this week, as June 6th she turns 44. I told her at the parade again, how amazing it is that we caught up to each other…and are both in our 40’s. LOL!

Anne – Memorial Day is clearly a remembrance day for you given your family history. As to the question - “Will we ever learn?” I think your right. It seems we learn for short periods of time and then forget. But hope springs eternal.

Bye for now … Hope all of you have a great Tuesday! Bob :)

Happy Tuesday! :) My company just left and we had a wonderful time. I am tired but it is Tuesday so kiddos day.
Laurie is on her way to see her migraine doctor and then from there they will drive home. The weather today is of course warm enough for pool but there is always next time. Hopefully tomorrow I can get to the pool to get a little color, if not tomorrow there is the weekend. Joe calls me every day to see if I went to pool which I explained to him I wasn't going while my kids were here, but I think he misses knowing what's going on in my area.

Bryanna trimmed both Laurie and my hair last night before we played Settlers of Catan. (Laurie won) I should be good for a while unless I decide to highlight it again before my casino trip.

My hummingbird is back and yesterday there were two either fighting or playing but they make me so happy.
    https://youtu.be/5lPQAZ9v09k

That's it for today, I need to take a shower and get ready. Tomorrow my usual routine will be in place.

    Have a great day.

Thanks LIN for the lantern name.

The laptop shouldn't have arrived until Thursday but it's just arrived today. I'll let the boys set it up though and carry on with the iPad until then.

Meanwhile, I spent quite a bit of time this morning looking at Shark vacuums JACKIE and that's what I'll probably end up with, EXCEPT Mark phoned to say they use a central vacuum BUT he thinks there's an upright somewhere in his basement and he's going to try and find it (how much stuff have they got down in the depths? Shades of Harry) and he will test it and if okay, bring it over.

Meanwhile, Harry is still filling his truck with all sorts of stuff but did take time to peer up at his roof.
So Bean had an interesting morning barking at everything and her day will be complete if Mark and the vacuum cleaner come over. He's retired but Mary Jo is still working from home daily.

BOB you had a wonderful day with lots of beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing. It's a lovely day here and we hit 80 this afternoon.

Hope everyone enjoys a beautiful day today as well,
    Anne.

Hello. It is in the ‘70s today and some sunshine and some clouds. I dropped off my mail at the post office, returned my library books, picked up my new glasses and thought I would treat myself to a Starbucks coffee. Wow, the line had 9 cars and nowhere to get in line for more people so I just drove on by. Thought I would stop at Trader Joe’s if it wasn’t busy but yes, it too was busy so I picked up my new set of library books. I got home and made my own coffee again and received a lovely call from a friend. We talked for a long time and I also heard from a friend who has great grandchildren staying at their house. She is very tired. The kids are not at all tired. 🤣😂🤣

Bob, great holiday! Thanks for sharing the photos. What fun.

Sandy, busy time for you as well. It is wonderful that your hummingbird has returned. Wahoo! Cutest little birds.

Anne, Harry is a busy boy these days. I guess he has to keep his nose to the grindstone in order to be ready to move. Lucky Jilly, someone to bark at again. Well, great, your new device has arrived. Wahoo. Hope someone sets it up soon. So you may receive a hand me down vacuum. Well if it works, that would be nice.

Sorry for anything I may have missed. I need to get back to work. Trash collection first thing in the morning so I need to get some things tossed out.

    Best wishes everyone.

Hello everyone! Trying this again. My earlier post galloped off to the side into neverland. I know it happens to us all. It is annoying, maddening really!

We have a very warm day happening. Not my favorite. I am that hot house flower, you remember. I only do well in the “not too hot-not too cold” temperature range. The humidity is going up along with the temp. It is above 90 on the deck. Our house is brick red and absorbs heat like crazy.

I love hummingbirds but we have other birds that knock the feeder and the spilled sweet juice attracts ants, lots of ants and earwigs etc. so I have reluctantly given up the hummingbird feeder.

I cried like a baby when our son left but I know he needs to get back to his life. Our daughter isn’t doing too well. Back on antibiotics, this is her life now. Going from one antibiotic prescription to the next. I do believe that discipline and self care needs to happen with her. I know you cannot live a good life without it. She is a wonderfully creative person. She is smart but not careful. But we all have little warts, what is causing all this sickness?

I will be a busy busy person for quite awhile. So much to do and I am so slow. Hope everyone is well and full of plans for a really fun-filled summer. Getting a new floppy frisbee, you know what that means.

Busy busy busy. Where does time go. I’ve resorted to setting my alarm to wake me up an hour earlier but still not getting everything done.

Ed and I have gone out two days in a row doing our traditional spring wildflower photography. Yesterday Sibbald Flats and today Griffith Woods.

I also was finally able to book my 2nd COVID vaccine today. Tomorrow at 8:20 am way across the city. I’ll be up early for that. LOL. So glad to get it tho.

    Enjoy yourselves

On the go all day yesterday, even a visit to the allotments until 9pm. We were hoping the forecast for a storm to arrive in the early hours to be correct but it didn’t materialise, just a few spots so we’ll return this evening to water everything. Yesterday afternoon Dave decided his plan to send the machinater pipes up through the roof space would work and as I sat enjoying a cup of tea there was an almighty crash and bang as they knocked a hole through the gable wall. That’s the wall recently painted before the scaffolding was removed so I wasn’t impressed but more importantly there is a family of blue tits nesting in a box close by Debs and I hung on the wall when we’d finished painting and I was concerned the parents would abandon the chicks. I’ve told them I’m very protective of all the birds in my garden so please be careful. House sparrows that were bringing their family up behind the eaves are not about today but I’m hoping they were mature enough to fly off to safety.

Thanks for the battery operated lamp idea Lin. I’ll certainly see what I might buy in England. The picture of Polperro was idealic although this week you wouldn’t recognise it with so many visitors in the area!

Anne, older vacuum cleaners were sometimes heavy so do give Mark’s a good try while he’s there with you just in case!

Gosh Patsy, yes your daughter’s constant use of antibiotics must be a worry if they don’t appear to be working. Our doctors have been advised to only prescribe them if absolutely necessary so our own immune systems do the work and certainly scientists are saying it’s been proven through their research that a healthy diet has lots of positive effects on COVID sufferers and also how people react to the vaccines. Nothing groundbreaking just common sense!

Sandy, would you be allowed to pick Joe up and take him to your complex for a couple of hours? Seems such a shame he’s missing it so much but then I think you knew he would.

Lots of lovely photos and I especially love yesterday’s teapot. Great to see people out and about doing normal things!

It still looks as if it could rain and is quite muggy so I’ll pick up where I left off yesterday tidying my wild bottom!! Oh goodness, and George had just pulled out a rose cutting from a pot and eaten it! 😵‍💫

    Take care

Morning all. Loads to do today but just want to tell JACKIE Marks found that the in their basement vacuum isn't a Shark but a Dust Devil and broken beyond repair. Derek's partner Bev says her Shark is heavy but apart from that very good. I think I'd be okay with that because its my legs which are weak and not my arms. I can still shift heavy furniture when no ones looking. Still pondering.
Meanwhile so disappointed because Mike has to work on Friday so won't be over until Saturday to connect the laptop to the internet and I daren't try on my own. Definitely not technical minded. Hoping this iPad keeps behaving herself.
Also hope the bird families are all still together! As If it isn't bad enough keeping an eye on cement loving Betty's and rose eating George's! As well as hammer wielding Dave's. Honest Jackie by the time this is all over you will have a brand new house!

Meanwhile Harry's side of the fence is completely clear for the first time in 30 years. I'd forgotten how lovely it is to look out at nature on his side! I'm just praying the new folk keep it this way, it's so lovely and light and NORMAL.

Oh joy! Marks just text to say he's ordered me a Shark direct from a local store which is $100 cheaper than from the manufacturer because he had a coupon! OVER THE MOON. I'm finally getting sorted out! Must talk to him, bye!

Is Bev petite Anne? Once switched on my Shark sails across the room with little effort and the trick when carrying from room to room is to separate the top from the rest which is very easy then to carry one in each hand. I once gave my friend Pat a demonstration on Skype when her Dyson packed up and both she and a friend staying with her said I could do the job professionally! She loves her Shark too and I’m sure you will yours.
How frustrating you can only look at your new laptop without touching but exciting, these new goodies arriving for you to play with. Then there is your room with a view which must be a treat.

Before Dave left to go home I asked about the masking tape they use and dust sheets so there’s a sign I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!

Daddy sparrow has been sitting on the telephone wire chirping but no sign of mum and babes so hopefully she’s showing them the wooded area where they’ll be safe!

Time to think about a meal to cook before another evening trip to the allotments.

Hello from warm muggy Oregon. We have fans swirling again and Katie is so uncomfortable she refused to eat her dinner last night and we will see about breakfast. She is lying in the shade on the deck. Water bowl is full and with her favorite thing...an ice cube that she licks and actually puts back into her water bowl. And there are people who say animals aren’t really smart....seriously?

Anne: Technology is fun but it doesn’t come naturally to me. I just fuss around and accidentally find out about what I could do with these things. I am fearless when it comes to experimenting. It is just a machine. What could go wrong? Bawhahahaha! Oh the tales I could tell you about my experiments. My advice is to read the manual. A chore in itself! I would much rather dive in and experiment. Ooooooh yeah!

Jackie: Our daughter never ever does those simple things to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Reason and discipline are foreign words and concepts. We are beside ourselves with worry and disappointed in her lifestyle and deteriorating health. This is a problem we can’t solve. Our son calmly reminds us that she is a middle-aged woman and is fairly intelligent and educated. She is well aware of the consequences of her actions. What causes a person to relentlessly dive into troubled waters? Still smoking with COPD and trying to recover from Covid. Wow! Yet she is amazingly talented and creative and she can be devastatingly charming. Quite a package!

Lin: my favorite teapots are the charming and funny ones. Impractical and unusable but darling little sculptural pots to set nearby to smile at and dust occasionally. You have found several that belong at the mad hatters tea party.

JACKIE, yes Bev is very petite, small boned and slim. The complete opposite of gallumping Anne!
I should get the vacuum on Thursday or Friday when Mark and Mary Jo are in the stores area doing their weekly grocery shop.

However, Mark did come over and chopped down a quite thick trunked young tree which was doing its best to dislodge the garage and its drain pipe, plus a red currant bush that was ancient and dying. All for the garbage men who must be fed up with us and Harry the lad. HE disappeared again with yet another load. The house was sold a month ago so they will be leaving soon I guess. Nobody knows because apart from Harry loading his truck no sign of them at all. I did get to gossip with Maria for awhile and wonders! She asked me if I had lost weight! Yes, 9 lbs, but now I can't seem to lose the last 2lbs despite walking daily and icecream deprivation etc.

If Mike wakes up in time he MIGHT drive down tomorrow to set up the shiny new laptop before work, but I don't really expect him because we are in for a thunderstorm and soaking tonight which we desperately need. The rivers here are running low. I think you are very brave PATSY, but no way am I going to tackle the internet and laptop. I'm still recovering from how much an Apple lap top costs!

After the rain we are in for three days of humidity, stickiness, and heat. I'm dreading it but will hole up with my new toy. Poor Bean being a black furred doggie really suffers from the heat and I don't want her getting heat stroke like last year. Good news maybe, now Harry's removed all the buckets of stagnant water perhaps no mosquitoes, the bane of my life.

Hopefully little iPad will allow me to say hello tomorrow,
    Anne.

Good afternoon. We have warmer temperatures today. Almost 80 degrees F. Looks like I will be watering my containers every day for a while. I am quite excited today! I harvested my first 2 zucchini and will be eating them this evening. Yum.

I went to Whole Foods this morning. Many shelves were empty and aha, they had moved a lot of things around since March 2020. 🤣😂🤣 Two employees were unmasked but everyone else, including all the customers had masks on. I returned home with some bargains, hot to use my extra 10% Prime discount on sale items and of course, I found some great things I would not have put on a shopping list. Lovely tiny watermelon and some delightful grapes. Wahoo! Haven’t had either for oh so long.

Anne, well, you are getting lined up to be back to working order on vacuuming and a computer which works. Wahoo! I hope nothing else wears out! Lovely that the junk is disappearing and maybe the bugs will be gone as well. Or at least maybe there will be far fewer.

Jackie, what the heck are those guys doing to your home? My goodness. How much repair will be needed after this smash through the wall? Yipes. There is a lot going on in this neighborhood. New concrete over at the townhouse that is being repaired. The house across the street got new carpet today. Another house has some kind of construction going on as I was hearing saws and hammers. Another house has a For Sale sign now. It sprouted up overnight. Everyone is busy on home improvement except me!

Patsy, warm and muggy. And very uncomfortable. How lovely that you have ice cubes for Katie. I would like one in my afternoon cold brewed tea. I don’t do the things I should. It is a personality flaw of mine I guess. I understand avoiding anything that will attest bugs! Not something I like to deal with either.

Jeri, love those collage photos. A busy life indeed. So glad you share with us!

Best wishes to everyone. Be safe.

    Lin🙋🏼‍♀️

Happy Wednesday! :) Finally I was able to go to the pool today. It felt so good and hardly anyone was there.
The water was freezing so I didn't actually swim but I did go in waist high. They make us leave every two hours to clean so kind of a pain especially since they could just clean around us but I follow the rules. I am upset I can't bring my chair to float around but we can bring our own noodles. This to shall pass. (I hope)
My son and his wife are gone so lots of laundry to do, just have to get it done between pool time.
Our meeting is now open to in person meetings. It means I have to drive 30 minutes to get there but it will be nice to see members in person. Rules are in place and social distancing is required. Will probably wear a mask in but once seated I will feel comfortable to remove it. There are still some who are not comfortable going in person so they will have their own zoom meeting. Soon I hope everyone feels comfortable and life can resume to normal.

Barbie, beautiful flowers. Hope all is well with you, Jake and the pups.

Lin, we too have great weather this week, I hope it stays this way for a long time. When you say 10% prime discount do you mean from Amazon? I haven't been to whole foods in a long time but you peaked my interest.

Anne, wow, two big purchases to make your life easier, how great is that? I have an Oreck vacuum which is very light weight, but pushing it hurts my back with the new carpet, thus Bryanna. Things seem to be moving in the right direction with Harry and we are anxious to meet your new neighbors. Bring them a pie. lol
I would love for someone to ask me if I lost weight it would make me very happy.

Patsy, I have a friend who had Covid and she is having after effects as well, especially with her lungs. I haven't seen her in over a year but I forgot to ask if the vaccine helped so I will. Poor Katie, do you shave her in the summer??

Jackie, I think we all feel your pain with the remodeling. Think positive, soon it will be over and you will forget the pain you went through, sort of like childbirth. lol

Jeri, beautiful pictures and you are looking slender and great!! Keep up the good work!!

Bob, what wonderful pictures of your fun holiday. The pool looks amazing did you venture in?? I bought that shirt from the $10 fashion attic through facebook. Have Jean check it out, all the clothes are $10-$15 with few exceptions. I have bought so many I forget what I have.

Dinner time so I hope your day was as good as mine.

    Sandy
