Tomorrow I have a day date with my husband. We have a caretaker for Dad and my mom's watching the baby. We'll hit the beach, get lunch, and do an escape room. I'm EXCITED! It will be our first day out since the pandemic, now that our vaccines have had time to be fully effective.
I'm not going to track carbs or calories and will surely be way over both. It will be a day of indulgence. I do that every 6-8 weeks or so.9 -

I was confident I was going to be able to squeeze out a loss so I am disappointed as my weight was down yesterday. Oh well I will keep trying. Had another awesome beach day with my friend while the kids were at school. Trying to cram in all my fun without Kids before they are out of school next week and they cramp my style lol!9 -
@lindamtuck2018
Thank you! π€ How are you feeling? Did you get your voice back?
@Tazaria87
That's great to hear that both parents are on MFP also AND that they lost a combined 60 pounds ππ»ππ» Wow, Ashley that's amazing! Living so close together was always my sister's and my plan, that we would both live within walking distance to our parents. That didn't happen. My sister is 1,400 miles away, my parents are 110 miles away. I'm very envious that you live so near to one another. π
@amymartin555
AMY! More than 10 miles? My feet and hips just screamed, "NOPE, don't even think about it pal." Do you do that walk all at once? Phenomenally high steps! ππ»ππ»ππ» Well done getting more sleep and using your hoop for 30 minutes. Thank you, we think we're pretty great also π Seriously though, it really is a terrific team, everyone is very supportive and encouraging.
@azkunk
You're doing amazing Andrea! Day five done β π I love your mindset about the scale, and you're right, it's going to come right back down ππ»ππ»
@rwood566
I was waiting to hear how many steps your zoo day gave you π€© Roger that's fantastic! Over 10,400 steps ππ»ππ» You had a low calorie day, you have amazing will power to not get any snacks or treats at the zoo ππ» Ok, so I read somewhere, I should have taken a picture, that walking, any walking, regardless of speed is exercise. You burned A LOT of calories walking those 10,400+ steps π Good luck with your apnea test, my husband's entire family uses apnea machines. We bake a lot with bananas, and sometimes we don't have any ripe ones in the freezer or on the counter. A trick to making them taste ripe, is to roast them. While your oven is preheating, toss in your unpeeled bananas on an aluminum foil lined baking tray (with sides to catch the juice). When the banana turns black it should be roasted enough to act like a ripe banana. Once the banana has cooled a bit, use the juice and banana in the recipe.
@Beverly2Hansen
Another huge stepper! Way to go Bebe ππ»ππ» over 19,300 steps! Congrats on your new recliner, and all of the amazing progress you made today: those 19,300+ steps, 2 l of water, eating within your calorie budget, holding your plank for 90 seconds, AND having that incredible insight to know that this isn't a race. You're having tremendous progress and you're right, the weight will come off. Keep going!! π€
@Aqualang26
It sounds like a lovely day you have planned for you and your husband. Enjoy your alone time together. π
@roz0810
What's this? Another post with high steps! Way to go ππ»ππ»
@missysave0612
Congratulations on your terrific loss AND moving into your home ππ»ππ» "Back on the bandwagon" it doesn't look like you left the bandwagon π Have fun moving completely in.
@rlaskey2
Way to get in those steps during your beach day Rachel ππ»ππ» that's a great idea to squeeze in some quiet, fun time before the craziness of summer π You know that little change is probably just a bit of water that you held onto, it's going to come right off. Stay with your plan, you got this!! π€**********I'm off for my walk. My lower half just said, "Nope, not gonna do it." We shall see how far I get. My plan is 3.5 miles, I don't want to push it, especially because I want to have the strength left to get on the bike. Have a lovely day everyone, I'll check back in later π

@amymartin555
Awesome step count! A smart hoop sounds interesting. I just looked some up on google. Where did you get yours from? I donβt know if I could do it for 30 minutes straight. Did you build yourself up? I am so glad you find the group helpful.
@Tazaria87
That is so great your parents are doing that. I think summer can be harder than winter.
@azkunk
Five days is great. How are you feeling on IF?
@rwood566
Great steps and a fun way to get them! I havenβt been to the zoo in years. There is the African Lion Safari about 1.5 hours from here but you have to drive through to see the animals.
@Beverly2Hansen
Great check in! Way to go not allowing your feelings to dictate how you would eat.
@Aqualang26
Sounds like a lovely day. A day of indulging is ok on occasion. Enjoy!
@missysave0612
Fantastic loss! It must feel great to be finally settled.
@rlaskey2
Great attitude! Enjoy your time before the kids get out.
@TheresaM787
Enjoy your walk! Still have a croaky voice. It was so cute yesterday. My granddaughter called for her daily chat. I was straining trying to talk to her. She says βNanny, I will talk to you tomorrow so you can rest your voiceβ. She is so cute!5 -

Why Not Wednesday is back...
So, drag your butt out of bed face your challenges and show them who's boss. GggggrrrrrrrooowwwwwlLLLLLllLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! π€¬ππππͺπ
Today was 1 degree cooler, but the breeze was stiffer and the humidity was down. It seems getting out there in the worst conditions makes conditions like these, seem like a walk in the park. I managed a personal best this morning shaving 21 seconds off my previous best. Zip-Zip-Zowie! π Heart rate looking good. π
Did not have to put my hands on the hand rails going up the last 2 flights of stairs to my bedroom... This has to be some sort of NSV. Granted the knee braces are partially responsible.. But I don't care. π
Verdict on Melatonin Time Release...
I believe it works, but the last 2 nights haven't been the best nights in terms of getting a good night sleep. It was damn hot. But the little sleep that I did get (5 hours and 39 minutes), earned my a sleep score of 74. So, it would seem the quality of the sleep I do have has improved. Which brings me too.
Restless leg syndrome and Leg Cramps...
I've noticed my legs have been getting progressively weird over the last week (always scrunching my toes at night to relieve pressure), and sure enough my calves both cramped up on my last night, one of the reasons I lost a good chunk of sleep. I had to get up, and massage them for a good long while before it all chilled out.
I have 2 good possibilities for why this is happening.- The weather combined with exercise and weight training, means I've been sweating more.. More sweating mean's more water intake and excretion of fluids, which means more electrolytes are geting purged from my body.
- About 7 days ago I realized that a full scoop of the electrolyte I take is actually about 1.5-2 grams more then the serving size (as I was going through a bottle far to quickly). So I cut back my serving size to the appropriate amount.
So, I figure, I need to go back to taking a full scoop of ~5.5 grams of electrolyte powder... Makes sense I would need more given my weight and aggressive exercise regiment, along with the fact I'm on a KETO diet which is known to deplete electrolytes.
The Electrolyte I use is VEGA Sport Electrolyte Hydrator, and a 5.5 gram serving contains about 60-70% daily serving of magnesium, and ~600-700 mg of potassium.. And pretty much cator's to the KETO crowd. I very much recommend it.
And that's that for this morning. After work... Chest, Triceps and Shoulders OOooooohhh YEAH!
Have a fantastic Wednesday and take no prisoners! π πππ€π€π€

Good morning everyone! Hope today is a fantastic one! Keep up the hard work!
Scale still being super stubborn, hope that breaks before weigh in on Saturday!
I braved the warmth and humidity for a walk yesterday. Itβs about to get hot this week so that should make the walks extra βfunβ lol
On Monday, I finished cleaning out the game room to make room for the rest of the home gym. Ordered the rowing machine so am super excited about that!

Check in for Tuesday
β Steps 7,007
β Sleep
β Walk
I channeled my inner Kermit the frog to hit all green. Really not sure if I should go out. I still have a croaky voice and a headache. I feel real guilty going out yesterday even though I didnβt go near anyone. No matter what I decide I will get my steps and walk in the apartment. Woke up early but I fell asleep early so I ended up with just over 8 hours sleep.
Happy Hump Day!6 -

Don't sweat it Rachel, you doing the right thing, and the closer we are to maintenance the more often these days will occur. sounds like you had fun, and that's important too.Aqualang26 wrote: Β»Tomorrow I have a day date with my husband. Did another day of 2 walks! The kids and I walked down to a playground that's a little farther than the one at the school. They had never been there before so I thought it would be exciting for them. They had a lot of fun, even though it was pretty hot out. Then in the early evening I met my parents at the lake for our usual walk.
Today my kids have summer camp so we won't be walking to a playground today. I'm going to go to the lake by myself this morning while the kids are gone, though!6 -

I was looking up exercises because due to a knee injury, I noticed I was leaning forward when I walked. I came across this information and found it very enlightening. Thought you might like it!
Q: Dear Uncle Wang,
Every morning when I go for a run in the park I see old Chinese men walking backwards and clapping their hands.
Why do they do that?
A:There is a very old Chinese belief that walking backwards for 100 steps is equal to walking forwards for 1,000 steps.
Chinese have been walking backwards to maintain good health since the ancient times.
Walking backwards exercises muscles that are not used in ordinary walking, especially in the back, waist, thighs, knees and lower legs.
Walking backwards is more tiring than walking forwards and in general it will give you a better cardio workout and will burn more calories.
According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), walking backwards is a good way to relax one's back muscles; it can relieve back pain and can also benefit the kidneys.
Elderly people have weaker muscles and backward walking can strengthen different muscles than walking forward does.
Backward walking is also said to be ideal for people who have knee problems or injuries as it puts less strain on and requires less range of motion from knee joints.
Walking backwards raises your heart rate higher than when you walk forward, meaning that you can get better cardiovascular and calorie-burning benefits in a shorter period of time.
Some studies have also found that backward walking can have beneficial effects on your brain.
According to some researchers, when you walk backwards, it sharpens your thinking skills and enhances cognitive control. When you break your routine, it stimulates your brain in a different way.
It can also enhance your vision, since you move in an atypical way.
Some people will also clap their hands as they walk, believing it is good for their blood flow, and as a result, it improves their immune systems.
In TCM it is believed that the palm of the hand has many acupuncture points and clapping is a way to massage these points. This helps to expel, through the fingertips, the cold and toxins in the body.
According to TCM theory, the most beneficial method is to clap your hands in front and behind you, every four to five steps.
These days, backward walking, or "retro-walking," is also becoming increasingly popular in the West and Japan, where people practice it to build muscles and improve sports performance.
Some superstitious Chinese also believe that walking backwards will help them to correct their past mistakes and sins.

Quickie note this morning. Hopped on the scale this morning, after my good eating and zoo day, and gained 3.6 lbs. Went to the boy's room and weighed again. Lost 1 lb of that. I wrote down the first weight, wiping out 2 weeks of work. It's ok. It happens and I'll move on. Have a wonderful day.5

@363days Interesting on the whole walking backwards thing. I'm already get a rep for being the weird big guy sweating up a storm around the community in which I live at 4:45 in the morning. Could you imagine if I started doing the laps backwards. I could get committed. π3
