I think we can all see that this was a bad week for me.
I'm thinking of increasing my gym time to try offset the bad weeks but I like sleep. Not sure I'm willing to give it up.4 -

@bowens1973 and @ashleycarole86 4 weeks in the green! Way to go! My inspiration for September.5

Hi Everybody! My name is Brad and I am the proud husband of @ashleycarole86. We live in Airdrie, Alberta - just north of Calgary.
My weight loss journey is virtually life long. Food was often the "reward" growing up and I blame that for my wicked and insatiable sweet tooth!
In 2012 I suffered a very serious boating accident that left me with the need to have my left hip replaced. Towards the end of the 5+ year waiting period for the surgery, I was in extreme pain daily and struggled to walk even short distances. I put on considerable weight - hitting the 270's at one point. After my surgery I found myself virtually pain free and with a much greater range of motion. I remember feeling sad that due to the hip replacement I'd never be able to play squash or other high impact activities but then I realized that those weren't my passions anyway.
This summer I fell in love with cycling and pedal 25 - 50kms most days. I love the challenge of climbing hills and feeling how deeply I can breath now. My blood pressure has dropped and my resting heartbeat is incredible. The transition has been amazing.
My main concern right now is what I will do once the weather won't let me bike. We've joined a curling League this fall, but the post game drink(s) will negate any benefit. I'm thinking of taking up spin classes so that I can keep momentum and my goal is to be able to bike with the local cycling club next year. Never thought I'd be the Lycra/Spandex type! Bring it on like Donkey Kong!
I am extremely fortunate to be doing this journey with my very best friend. Ash is nothing short of incredible and inspires me every day. She is relentless in her pursuit of self-improvement. It saddens me to know that many of my fellow teammates do not have the benefit of doing this with someone in their family - it does make it easier. However, both Ash and I are here to cheer you on and be your support (Ash is way better at it tbh). We are living proof that this method works - we have lost a combined weight of more than 130 pounds and love finding examples of what that really means.. that's like 7 24's of beer, 18,866 tea bags, 21,836 ping pong balls or 2,105 donuts - it's true!
Have a great September everyone!7 -
Weekend is coming to an end - for those of you who actually have a different weekday and weekend! It is odd being retired and have fewer signals about what day it is, but it is fun not really caring
@bowens1973
I always enjoy the introductions every month, and hearing about changes and progress. I am SURE you are rocking that Lycra/Spandex look, and it is not just for show! You and Ash both inspire many of us. Who needs 21,836 pingpong balls anyhow? (I'd kind of like to know how much room they would take up.) Your idea to go to spin classes is a good one - better than curling followed by drinks with the team... Spinning is a blast if you have the right leader who can make it both fun and challenging. I hope it works!
@Terytha
Hugs to you! Sleep is a gift, but yeah - you can't get quite the same calorie burn as going to the gym. You'll figure a way to either cut the in or up the out. Let's see you into the 150s - you've got this!
It has been a good day with lots of things coming in from the garden, but also time to do other stuff - feels good to get back to Pilates and other exercise that I skipped while visiting my sister (no excuse...). I'm going to go check out the no sugar challenge thing - not sure if I'll join in, but it could be interesting to take a look.
Heads up for Monday people:
@DD265
@lovethyneighbor
@Emerald_Storm
@TessieMac833
For the 2 new people - even though you just recently signed up, Monday is your weigh-in day for week 1 already! Be sure to post it here on the chat thread, and you'll be golden. Off to a start and it isn't even "real" September yet!
And a hearty welcome for @rawataishwarya890 - please don't hesitate to jump right in. Tell us about yourself, and feel free to ask any questions you might have, or bring up things you would like to discuss. Looking forward to meeting you!3 -

This sounds great - It may be hard to keep to it every single day, but even if it is a shorter time or distance, the habit of daily exercise is wonderful. Do you have a dog to take on walks? That sure helps keep it going - they never get sick of walks.
When you signed up, you chose Saturday as your weekly weigh-in day. Do you want to change it to Monday?0 -
Evening all, and welcome again to all the new members!! Happy birthday to your youngest @KellyBgetsfit and congrats on finishing the exam @Kali225 .... hope the rest of you had a great weekend!
Thanks for all the kind words @jugar ... love this space and I learn so much from all of you for different reasons. Happy to be here.
Today was a good day. The sun was shining, it was warm (but not uncomfortably so), and we enjoyed a full day at the lake before coming home. I had a walk on my own with the dog at the lake, and then when we got home we went for another one that Brad joined us on and I did my yoga as well. So, day 1 of the new month went very well in terms of my goals. I'm posting my exercise as part of my commitment check in for the week 1 challenge, so I won't repeat my details here for this week.
This week ahead marks our last full week of working from home. I intend to make the best of the non-commute time by devoting it to my exercise. When I am commuting to and from the office I'll have way less free time. I will make it work, but this last week is one I'll make sure I make the most of.
Well, time to curl up for a tiny bit of couch time with Brad before bed. See you all tomorrow!

Hello!
Yesterday went pretty good. We went to a BBQ at the lake cabin and spent some time swimming. We are getting into the fall weather so the lake was chilly despite the warm day. I did great with food until it came to my MIL's potato salad. Oh its full of calories even with a small serving. Hubby and I had a late dinner after the kids went to bed. A little over on calories. Dinner was snack stuff, fresh grapes from the garden and a veggie tray. Exercise was of course swimming and stair climbing going back and forth to the lake.
Today I have the kids to myself. I think I will put in a grocery order and then take them to pick up lunch just for fun. I also want to work on my planner and start thinking about meal planning, workout planning etc. I am trying to decide if I want to work out in the morning. Same issue as @Terytha. Sleep is a beautiful thing. Plus, I heard your body only matabolizes fat during sleep? That kinda makes me want to get my sleep! Lol I have a little habit tracker in my planner so I'll be setting that up too!6 -
@conleywoods That's so fun you can grow fresh grapes... love that!
@Emerald_Storm Amazing loss.. way to go!
Today is off to the right start. As you may recall, my Friday workday ended on a poor note. Knowing today might be tough, I got up early, had my shower, did my initial walk, and then did my yoga practice and push-ups as well. Knowing I'm ahead on my daily goals makes the day much easier (and also fits with last night's intention to make the best of this last working from home week).
The sun is out and I plan to get out for another walk with the dog at lunch!4 -

@jugar oh no you mentioned in the post for the 2 new people that have signed up Monday is the weigh in day I thought that was intended for me. I would post my weigh in on Saturday.
I don’t have a dog as I live alone and am working.
I’ll try my best to keep up with my goal
Thank you so much for your encouraging words.3 -

Oh Sam!!! That is the cutest video. Clearly, kitty LOVES you!!
Hello everyone! Welcome new members and big hello to those who've been around a while. I'm Michele. I'm 57 years old and live in North Carolina, USA, a transplant from the Philadelphia area who wants to go home. I've been married 38 years and have two grown children and a cute granddaughter I adore!!! I have been with the team since February 2019 (I think). A long time in any case. I have been having a very hard time losing weight lately. In fact, the last TWO months I have gained weight. My highest weight was in 223.5lbs. in 2018 right before my granddaughter was born. I guess I gained pregnancy weight too. I am a former elementary school teacher who is now not working. Not sure if I'm retired, but it's looking more and more like it all the time. Pretty sure I'm done. I care for my 3 year old granddaughter when her parents work or need a break.
I have lost about 21.5 pounds at this point. However, I was down to 188 right before the pandemic and, at first, maintained around 196 for a year or so, but am now back up to about 202. I am feeling a bit frustrated but not giving up. I have not really done much different to start gaining all the sudden. My post-menopausal body is giving me a pain in everything. I am not liking it. Plus the pandemic going on and on. Plus lack of schedule or direction for my life at this age. I need to work on this.
My goals this month are:
Exercise every day (no matter how long) - Did 13 minutes of Pilates today.
8k steps
Do something each day that brings me Joy!
Log and close my food diary every day.
@ashleycarole86 I would like to participate in the step challenge.
@jugar I think I would like to change my weigh in day to Friday. Saturday often seems to get lost especially at the end of the month. So, yeah, Friday it is! We'll see how that goes.5 -
Happy Monday, Team!
Here are my steps and exercise stats for the past week:
