You couldn't make this stuff up:

Apparently, there is no conspiracy theory too wild for some QAnon followers.

Case in point: Members of a QAnon group based in Dallas have floated the theory that John F. Kennedy is not only alive, but disguised himself as former President Donald Trump over the weekend to attend a rally in Florence, Arizona.

I graduated from OT preschool today! Since I’m still not allowed to lift more than 1-2 pounds or add any resistance to my therapy, the therapists agreed that I don’t need to keep coming until my restrictions are eased or lifted. In the meantime I’m supposed to keep doing my exercises and call them if I think I need to come back in. I’ll contact them again after my next doctor’s visit, assuming he gives the OK for more weight and resistance.

I'm feeling silly this morning. It's after 11 a.m. and I haven't even gotten to breakfast yet. It's been one of those mornings.

We just got home from a visit with my retina specialist to follow up on the eye injury from my accident. He is concerned that 7 weeks later, the pupil in the injured eye remains slightly dilated, so he is referring me to a neuro opthalmologist for further evaluation of possible optic nerve damage. He warned that if there is damage there likely isn’t much that can be done, but he also didn’t say that there might be any serious issues related to this. I guess I’ll know more after I see the specialist. It’s a good thing I’m retired and have a chauffeur to get me to all of these appointments.

Good thing you consulted a lawyer. Your injuries are more extensive and long lasting than you would have thought right after the accident. I’m sure the insurance company would have loved a quick settlement. Have you received your new car yet? I ordered my free at home Covid tests. I went to the USPS website and used the link there. It was quick and easy.

We got the new car just before Christmas, in time to drive it down to Houston where we spent the holiday. Yes, I think it is a good thing that we retained an attorney to handle the medical side of this. We very quickly became overwhelmed by all the calls and decisions that we were having to handle right after I got out of the hospital. It was a relief to be able to refer everything to his office. His fee will take a big chunk out of whatever settlement we get, but I think it’s worth it. All I really want out of the settlement is to have all of my medical bills paid, and if there are any permanent injuries, I would expect some compensation for that. Anything above that would just be a bonus. DH keeps saying that I should get compensation for pain and suffering, but I don’t even know if that’s still awarded these days.

It’s getting very cold here tonight. I have an appointment tomorrow to get a haircut and highlights, and I’m not looking forward to getting out in the cold. I am looking forward to getting my hair done, though. It’s been a real pain to deal with because I was overdue for a haircut before the accident, and now it’s 7 weeks later so I REALLY need a haircut, lol!

I was watching the nightly news last night and they were doing a story on the Covid tests. Just as they were saying that the site was active a day early, a friend texted the link to the site for ordering them. So I immediately went to the site and ordered them. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. Hopefully the USPS will get them delivered just as easily.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a neuro ophthalmologist. Interesting. I hope you get some good information and that there's nothing major.

Poor DH has had to chauffeur me after two broken bones (although with my broken heel I did hire an out of work acquaintance to drive me some - I remember my physical therapist one day asking me in a puzzled tone of voice whether she was my employee or my friend. LOL!) Because the heel went on so long I did have my dad come stay for a week when DH was out of town for work and my sister did the same one week.

I wasn't retired during either the broken heel or the broken arm. During the heel episode I worked 3 days a week. During the wrist episode I just pretty much worked normally, except with voice recognition software instead of typing.

A hair appointment sounds wonderful. I'm keeping the peace around here by caving to DH's demand that we lockdown again. I postponed my last hair appointment. I didn't want to completely cancel because I didn't want her to think I wasn't ever coming back. I can always postpone again. I am sort of regretting that I let her talk me out of my all-one-length bob, which if it gets long can go into a pony tail, into this whatever you call it hair I have now that's a million different lengths. Don't know what I'd do with this if it went a bunch of months. I'm pondering telling her, when I finally get back, that I want to grow it out to my bob again.

    Missed this tidbit yesterday:

Two years ago today, the first case of #COVID19 in the US was identified in a patient in Snohomish County, WA. The virus was in the US before that, but that was the first confirmed case here.

It's a beautiful sunny morning in Baltimore. I'll have some breakfast and then go feed. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the water bowls than yesterday. it was SO cold the last couple days that no matter what I did I couldn't pop the frozen water out of the bowls. I poured some water on top and did see one cat getting a drink. Hopefully anyone thirsty got a drink before it froze. Sometimes I hate winter!

It was pretty cold here this morning. It was 48 degrees when I got up and it’s only 51 at almost noon. We turned the heat on because it was so chilly. That probably sounds warm to Maryanne but it was in the 70s yesterday. Brrr.

Today our temps are supposed to get to the 60’s for the first time in several days. We had 2 days of extreme cold, at least for us, so I’m ready for warmer weather. I think we may have rain tomorrow, so the warmer temps probably won’t last.

Friday we went to Happy Hour with some of our friends. The location was very interesting. The town where I live has invested a lot of money in building a train station and getting rail service that goes to downtown Fort Worth as well as connecting to D/FW airport and on to parts of Dallas. The place where we met for HH is adjacent to the train tracks and was built to resemble an old fashioned train station with several restaurant stations serving a variety of food types and a bar, with tables and seating scattered all around. It connects to a very nice hotel that is part of the Marriott boutique hotel line. The train station part is called Harvest Hall and it reminded me a lot of Grand Central Station in New York City, on a much smaller scale, of course. It was a fun evening and good to see our friends. I hadn’t seen most of them since the going away party for our friends who moved to Virginia in early December. That party was just after I got out of the hospital, so I wasn’t feeling too good and not looking my best, either. Several people commented that I was looking much better, lol!

Hearing that you look better must have been great for your morale. Even though you have a lot of rehabbing and PT, look how far you’ve come since the days right after the accident. Your HH sounds like fun and it was good that you were able to see friends again. How are the couple who moved liking VA?

Helene, my friends are loving being closer to their daughter and grandkids, but not so fond of the weather. I haven’t talked to them myself, but some of my friends have reported that they are happy with their new home and are getting settled. Perhaps we will visit them sometime if we ever go to that area again. They assured all of us they’d love for us to visit and have plenty of room if we do.

I finally got myself back on the treadmill last evening. Just 15 minutes but it's a start.

I fed this morning, ate some Kashi cereal and soon will hunker down to work.

I always have a box of cereal in the kitchen. DH has always ignored it (he really isn't a cereal person). For some reason this Kashi toasted berry crisp has caught his eye. He keeps saying "that looks good". I say "help yourself' but he hasn't.

I lost a pound last week. Down 5 1/2 pounds since the beginning of the year. I'm now 10 1/2 pounds over where the cardiologist last saw me. I need to be down to at least that when I go again. Why do I do this to myself? Rhetorical question. I like food. But I'm glad I have the visit with her looming to keep me on the straight and narrow. Hopefully anyway. Although I have a birthday in March which always makes me think splurge!

I'm planning mostly Jenny Craig this week but have very few breakfasts other than bars (which aren't a real meal IMHO) thus the cereal.

I’m also down another pound as of this morning. Since breaking my arm in the accident, I have lost 6 pounds and am keeping them off, so I’m pleased with that. I guess it gave me a good jumpstart, although I wouldn’t recommend this method, lol!

Today I have an appointment for teeth cleaning and checkup. That’s about all the excitement I have planned for, but who knows what else the day may bring?

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted. Time can pass quickly.

Congrats to all who have lost weight. Pam, I wouldn't recommend an accident either to motivate the loss but do take advantage of the positive aspect of the accident.

I had my appointment with the cardiologist. He basically wanted to see how I was doing since I have to wait for a hospital room to start the new med. I'm still waiting. Our state is being overwhelmed with Covid so I don't see a room becoming available soon. The hospital also is getting patients from other hospitals who have run out of beds. The National Guard is in over 20 hospitals and will be in the one to which I would be admitted if ever.

It was black ice time this morning, so I had to cancel my orthopedic appointment in the city. The next available appointment with that doctor is March 3. Hopefully, I can get that heart med started by then. It is one that can cause quick negative effects so hospitalization is required for it to be started.

I did get my Moderna booster shot on Saturday. It wiped me out so that I slept most of Sunday.

I have a car appointment next Monday, so I hope the roads will be ok by then.

I weighed my myself today for the first time since my sister’s death. I had gained about 5 pounds during the last couple months of her illness. As of today, I’ve lost two of those pounds. I’ve had up and down days with all the stress but I’m trying to restart in the right direction.

No, broken arms are not recommended for anything. At all!

    Congrats on the pound. YEAH!!!!!

Jean that's terrible that people who need it can't get hospital beds.

There is no way the pandemic would ever have been pleasant but it could have been so much easier if so many of our fellow countrymen weren't morons. Two years ago I remember thinking "oh, we'll become a nation of mask wearers like countries in the far east". Shouldn't the fact that tens of thousands fewer people died because of the flu last winter while we were masked have been enough all by itself to encourage mask wearing? Yeah, I was giving my countrymen WAY too much credit. Then the vaccines came and everyone I know is struggling for an appointment and, again, my fellow countrymen shocked (and disappointed) me. You'd think I couldn't be shocked any more but I bet I can be.

Actually I was shocked again recently. There was an article in the news about Maryland hospitals - how many beds they have and how many were occupied. Forget occupancy. I was shocked by the first of those numbers. Given the tax advantages hospitals get, and the HUGE salaries their leaders get, if you'd asked me to guesstimate the number of beds I'd have added a zero to the end of all the numbers I read. I still can't get over how few beds these hospitals actually have. I always felt their executive compensation was ridiculously high (I mean, heck, I could run a hospital) but now that feeling is increased by a factor of 10 or so also.

Maryanne--There are some Covid breakthrough cases in the hospital. They are individuals who had pre-existing illnesses whose Covid was lessened by the vaccine. They are not on ventilators. The vast number of Covid patients are those who chose not to be vaccinated. My favorite excuse of theirs is that vaccination violates their rights. They don't realize their decision not to vaccinate may violate the rights of others to a healthy life if they become a carrier. It is ok to vaccinate a kid for school required vaccinations but not to take a Covid vaccine to protect themselves and the rights of others. Gr-r-r-r! I never thought I would see the National Guard with special training being called in to help hospital staff. I remember a hospital closing because of low patient load. How times change!

I saw a news story about a nurse working in an OK hospital. They are completely full and many are Covid patients, most untaxed. Meanwhile, her 61 yr old dad is on a ventilator in a different hospital. They didn’t say if he was vexed bit I’m guessing he’s not. Meanwhile, his daughter is working 12 hour shifts and can’t visit him. So many sad stories, many of their own making.

Helene--You are correct; there are many sad stories, most of their own making. I really don't see a bed becoming available for me soon. I've waited a month so far. There are those in more serious condition than me.

I'm tired of both! At least we know the snow/cold has an end date. But that's about all I can say. We got a little snow/ice over night. Right now it's sunny and very cold (cold for here anyway). I'm doing chores. I wish I could give in to comfort food but I know I can't.
