Sounds neat right? I came across some youtube videos. If you want to take a look as well, here is BilliSpeaks: https://www.youtube.com/c/BilliSpeaks
And there is also Justin Bieber the cat. I believe she is more on tiktok, but she has some good instructional videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCriil4aussYUAGVwpm_zI9w

Welcome to @nallasridevi and @bigbeff82 !! Glad you found and joined our team!! I'm Jessica, your Captain. On behalf of the whole team and our motivators, @angmarie28 and @PatriceFitnessPal pull up a chair and sit a spell! My goodness, that sounded country! LOL! My Grandmother would be proud (originally from Kentucky)...enough about me!

When you get a second, take a look back at pg 1 of this May chat thread and read our FAQ and see if it answers all of your questions. If not, post your questions and we'll try as hard as we can to get answers back to you. Take time to introduce yourself and let us know a few goals you have to June and the future!

I sincerely hope you find the support you need for your fitness and nutrition goals. The team has been VERY helpful to me in the 5+ years I've been a part of it. Again, welcome and let me know how I can help you in any way.

Take care and good luck in June!

@Yukie_OP - I’m sorry that you’re dealing with some difficult family issues. You’re so right about the physical and mental energy it takes to work through emotional situations. You seem to have a good perspective on how to manage the stress with humor and grace.

I feel as though the various ‘signs from the universe’ could still fit together, and may not be oppositional. We can let go of anger and forgive, while still distancing ourselves from people who feel toxic to us. Maybe that time and distance is what we need to eventually reflect without judgment or condemnation.

We can understand and acknowledge that people handle situations differently than we do, but we might need to remove ourselves from the situation if it’s uncomfortable for us to experience (either directly or as a bystander). I can act with courteously and grace toward others - and wish them well - but still choose not to interact, IMHO.

    What do others think?

To me, extending goodwill doesn’t mean we always have to extend our hand. Sometimes it can be satisfying to just give a nod or a wave and watch them travel into the distance along a different path — Be well, my Shape Shifter friends!

@Pupowl and @LaurieWrobo - I’ve been interested in trying the communication buttons with our dog, too. He has a number of ways to communicate non-verbally by scratching the door to go out, paw the bowl for food or water, and drag a small white stool we have in our kitchen to show us he’s angry we haven’t responded to his request for food or a snack. Once he has our attention from the noise (that he created with the stool dragging), he’ll lead us into the mudroom where his food and snacks are stored. He also taps us with his paws and moves to the bottom of the stairs to tell us he’s ready for bed.

In my work, we partner with many groups interested in improving health and learning systems. Some of the self-advocates we work with use communication boards to share their insights, ask questions, and participate in the meetings. Here’s a story about how a speech-language specialist adapted the communication board idea to give her dog a voice (and some agency) in guiding his care.

    https://www.upworthy.com/speech-pathologist-teaches-her-dog-to-use-a-speech-pad-and-now-it-communicates-in-sentences

Please keep us updated on Tinus’ training progress. I’m so curious to learn how it goes —

Interesting way to visualize a painful situation with a loved one. I think I'll try to use that one!

Not had a very interesting day. Really tired and headachey, so there was a long nap in the middle of the day. I did plant some sunflower seeds. I just take those from a birdseed mix I still had. In my experience, they can get really big so I am looking forward to see how they do. Got my vacation money which was nice. Threw most of it in my savings account. I did order like 13 different kind of cat snacks for Tinus. I would like to try out paw targetting and currently the only snack he is crazy about is liquid, which doesn't work very well. So hopefully there will be something he likes. If not, I will give the snacks to a family member who has cats, so it won't be a big deal. They were pretty cheap too.
    Happy Tuesday everyone <3

Hi everyone sorry to not have checked in. I’m feeling better and had a good dr appointment today.
No significant clues about why I felt so off with the night sweats and dizziness. My white cells were up, so maybe I was sick and didn’t realize it. My vitamin D is also very low. I stared a supplement last week and was told to double to dose for now. Otherwise I’m healthy, good cholesterol is high, bad is low. Sugars and thyroid are great.
We had a big wind storm on Saturday where I am and we have been without power since. They are hoping to get ours back on this evening, but maybe not until tomorrow. We are fortunate enough to have borrowed a generator from my father in law. We can’t run the whole house on it, but the fridges and water at least.

It has been some time since I was active and I feel a little cheeky however "Welcome" to our new members and thank you for posting a bit about yourself.

We will all hopefully get to know each other better. My details are all in my profile which tells you I did this all once, lost 30kg, put it all back on again. All down to mindset. There was a change of jobs which brought a lot more pressure, my two offspring returned from University, I had an injury and stopped running. Ultimately everything was still a choice, what I ate, my lack of exercise, my lack of motivation. My genuine belief is, if you are overweight, and you want a better, healthier lifestyle, you can have it. You just need to want that lifestyle and healthy body more than the cakes, beers, chocolate or whatever you consider your vice. I don't believe in abstinence, just track what you eat honestly and decide what you want and you may surprise yourself with your choices.

Fantastic to see so much great progress both on the scales and NSVs. @KHill875 The scales aren't the only measure and I will be measuring key areas of my body to see other improvements. I'm with you on the exercise calories @Jax_Grim and I had to half the calorie burn it used to give me. Even now I give Garmin a fake weight 25 lbs less than I really am so it lowers the burn.

@ewilhelm2487 whilst this is not my area of expertise I am sure your body will have fluctuations postpartum, maybe other have advice though I would look at the long term rather than week to week when making changes.

Have you recovered from your injury @PatriceFitnessPal ?

Lots more to talk about though I won't hog the page! Chat soon
