    good morning
Ed, sounds like work is busy. Good luck with the odd issues.
Congrats on getting your gifts wrapped, Irene. I haven't done that yet, still more to get. Maybe I'll start wrapping today.
I hope Jo had a nice flight, and enjoys her vacation to the fullest.
It's currently 36F, 2C. A mix of clouds and sun this morning followed by some light rain this afternoon. High around 50F, 10C. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.
I'm working on a stained glass project with 50 pieces to cut out, so I'm just doing a lot of cutting and grinding for a while. I brought it home so I can foil the pieces I've already cut. We won't be having the workshops for the next 2 weeks because of the holidays. My clay piece cracked again while drying, so I repaired it, and molded a few bowls.
Will see what today brings. Wishing everyone a happy ๐Ÿช day. โ˜•๐ŸŒค๏ธ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿท๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!

We have 10 (C) cloudy degrees with an expected cloudy high of 21 and 49% chance of precipitation.

I'm ready for cooler weather to stay, but guess I'll just have to deal with what there is.

    Work beckons.

Ed, cooler weather is setting in here.
It's curremtly 36F, 2C. Partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon. High 43F. 6C. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.
I started wrapping gifts yesterday, played with the kiddos a little, not much else. My leg is bothering me, need to remember to take NSAIDS for a few days.
Will see what the day brings, maybe some more wrapping, maybe some shopping?

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday!

We have 7 (C - feels like 4) cloudy degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 15 and 3% chance of precipitation. Looks like a cooling trend over the next few days.

We have a few complex things to test and I'll be trying to work on those today and tomorrow.

For Thursday throwback, here I am with my oldest brother, Steve, in November 1984.
I was 25 years old. I'm the redhead in the plaid shirt.

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!

We have 2 (C - feels like -1) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 12 and 2% chance of precipitation.

I should get some laundry started. The never ending task!

Today is my last scheduled workday for the year. The next two weeks will be staycation and I will do my best to remain disconnected from work stuff. I can catch up on smarmy old holiday movies and try to walk more. I've only watched one version of A Christmas Carol so far this year. Usually I've watched several by now, and I haven't watched It's a Wonderful Life either!

Supper last night was chili. Breakfast this morning was biscuits and sausage gravy.

    Work beckons.

    good morning all
Irene, I have stained glass pieces hanging in my windows, lots of windows! I also made a lot of suncatchers for gifts. I am giving 12-15 for the holidays this year.
Ed, yay for time off. I love old Christmas movies. My favorite was the original Miracle on 34th St.
My leg was bothering me and then yesterday, I hurt my knee playing with the kids, so I'm sitting here with ice on my knee and will skip exercise for a couple of days.
I still have gifts to wrap and presents to buy, so I'll see if maybe I/we can get out later.
It's currently 34F, 1C. Cloudy. Temps nearly steady in the mid to upper 30s, 0-4C. Winds light and variable. Cold and gray.
Wishing all an easy Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead. โ˜•โ˜๏ธโ„๏ธ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿ•Ž๐Ÿท๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Irene, I'm partial to homemade gifts, I think people put a lot of love into them. So when I give them, it's like giving a hug that lasts.
Ed, yay for time off and R&R!
My knee was pretty painful yesterday and I didn't do much of anything. On Thursday I called my pain Dr and was able to make an appt for the day after Christmas.
It's currently 31F, -0.5C. Snow showers this morning. Becoming partly cloudy later. High 33F, +0.5C. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 60%. Higher wind gusts possible. I saw a few snow flurries this morning, but it seems pretty clear now.
We're going to try to get out today to get some last minute shopping done.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!

We have 2 (C - feels like -2) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 9 and 1% chance of precipitation.

We have a holiday party to (probably) attend tonight. I haven't decided for sure what to make but may make a small dish of baked beans. On the other hand, I could just bring a Trappist monk fruitcake that I'm not at all sure I want to eat all of by myself. Jason won't eat any, and I really just want a taste. I could make baked beans and bring the fruitcake as well!

The main dish is supposedly sandwiches. Whether that means pre-made from a deli or DIY assembly from a selection of breads, meats, and cheeses, I don't know. I feel sure there will be plenty of chips, probably potato salad, and who knows what all else available as sides.

I got two loads of laundry done yesterday, all the way through to folded and put away.

Hi Irene and Jo (hope you're having a great vacation!)
Ed, hope you had fun at the holiday party.
It's currently 22F, -6C. Sunny. Very cold. High 28F, -2C. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. BRRR.
We went out yesterday and I picked up a few more gifts. Pretty much set. Will pick up some wine and another gift card before Wednesday. Some of the gifts I ordered have been delayed, so they will be given later.
I will do some things around the house and get the gifts wrapped today. My knee/leg is still bothering me. So that's it.
Wishing all a peaceful Sunday. Stay warm. โ˜•๐ŸŒžโ„๏ธ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ•Ž๐ŸŽ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 2 (C - feels like -1) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 8 and 1% chance of precipitation.

I ended up just bringing the fruitcake to the party. There was plenty of food and baked beans were really not needed. The fruitcake was a hit and only crumbs were left. I had a slice as soon as I got it set up, then did my usual party duty of helping keep food organized.

Three people brought shrimp cocktail platters. I had opened the first one when it came in, and stuck the other two in the refrigerator to stay cold.

The first (it was a big platter) got mostly eaten and I threw 10 or less shrimp away after that one "timed out" as I had noted what time it arrived and kept an eye on it for food safety purposes.

I then brought out the second, much smaller platter and it got all eaten up but by then the third (medium large platter) wasn't needed because the party was wrapping up. One of the hosts said if the person who brought it didn't claim it, they'd eat it for Christmas. That would be a nice extra Christmas dish for them!

Leftover sandwiches were sent home with any guest who wanted them, so at the end they were all gone.

I had a great time, saw a lot of old friends, met a few new friends who seemed to fit right in with the group, and I ate way too much food, but I was on my feet for most of the party so burned a lot of calories.

There was a White Elephant gift giving in the middle of the party. I did not participate but enjoyed watching the fun.

The hosts had the hot tub going in the back, for those prepared to use it, and all the guests knew in advance that it would be available, and a bonfire going in the back yard as well. I hung out for a bit at the bonfire, but not too long. The side facing the fire would get too hot and the other side of my body would get cold, so after about 15 minutes of pretending to be a rotisserie chicken, I went back inside. By that time, I had seen that a few more people had arrived and went back to the main party room to check on the food.

This was the fruitcake that I bought for the party. Expensive, at $27.99 for a 16-ounce loaf, but very nice fruitcake. A small slice was enough for anyone.

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday!

We have -1 (C - feels like -3) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 9 and 1% chance of precipitation. It was -2 (C) when I got up about 8 this morning.

It was a cold night, so I made a hearty vegetable soup last night, thick and chunky. The dried, small-diced mushrooms I put in seemed to have dissolved and enriched the vegetable broth by the time it was ready, so we didn't get to see those when eating but the broth was delicious. After simmering until the veggies were tender, I added macaroni, and when that was nearly done, added the tomato sauce and spicy V-8 juice.

I served it with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan and then croutons on top, as Jason isn't fond of crackers with soup.

And, since I am apparently incapable of making a small amount of soup, we have leftover soup for lunch today. Whenever I make soup, it just seems like whatever vessel I am preparing it in will be full, really full, before my mind accepts that there is enough stuff in there.

Dessert was hot chocolate and Biscoff cookies.

Nothing critical on the agenda for today. Gotta love it!

Ed, that fruitcake does look good. Sounds like a fun party.
Stay warm, Irene. When are you heading up to Pennsylvania or are you just going for the day? I'm sure it'll be nice for you and George to see your families.
It's currently 26F, -3C. Mainly sunny to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 32F, 0C. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Brrr.
I went for early shopping this morning. I had a couple of children's books to return and then found some additional gifts. All I have left to buy now is some wine and 1 more gift card. Maybe later, or tomorrow. It was nice to be there before the crowds.

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

We have -2 (C) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 14 and 1% chance of precipitation. It's cold out there.

Happy Christmas Eve and Happy Hannukah Eve!

Tomorrow starts the 8 days of Hannukah and the 12 days of Christmas.

I hope the stores aren't too crazy, Vix! I do my best to not go out on Christmas Eve if I can help it.

Jason finally packed up stuff and headed to Kentucky yesterday and is staying with his mother in the apartment he co-signed for. We put money into an account for that apartment so we can be sure there's always enough to pay the rent.

With the cats, we haven't decorated in years, but Father Christmas has a permanent spot on the mantle, mostly because I forgot to take him down one year and then just decided he could live there.

I will be running the dishwasher shortly. Lunch yesterday was some of the leftover vegetable soup, with added, chopped pork that I put in the bottom of the bowl before adding soup. Supper was more of the soup, but with added chunked chicken that I stirred into all of the remaining soup, and there is one more bowl of the chicken vegetable soup in the refrigerator for today's lunch.

We each had two bowls the night I made the soup, then I had it for lunch and supper yesterday, and today's lunch will be lucky bowl 7 of the soup and will finish it off. I think that's a pretty good yield for stepping into the kitchen with a half-formed idea of "soup because it's cold" and tossing stuff in, starting with a quart of "No-chicken" broth and some dried vegetables and mushrooms.

I may make Christmas dinner tonight. When I was a kid, we always got to open one "Mom and Dad" gift after lunch on Christmas Eve, then went to my maternal Grandmother's for a big, evening Christmas dinner, opened "Grandma" gifts, and returned home to find that Santa Claus had come while we were gone! So we opened Santa and family gifts then and, coincidentally, Mom and Dad could sleep in on Christmas day.

Then on Christmas, we'd go to another big, this time afternoon, Christmas dinner at my paternal Grandmother's house. It was nice that my mother didn't have to cook a big Christmas dinner, though she did contribute to her mother's dinner, usually a dessert.

If I make Christmas dinner tonight, that also means I can have fried ham and eggs for Christmas morning breakfast. I could do that anyway, as there is plenty of ham for that and a Christmas dinner as well. Maybe I'll just have some meatballs for dinner tonight...or for lunch today and save that last bowl of soup for dinner tonigt.

We'll see. I need to finish this mug of tea and get the cats fed, and then start the dishwasher.

    Good morning;
We got back last night around 7. We had a great time and the weather was mostly in the 50's.
We had only 1 day of heavy rain, but we were on the train most of the day and at my son's house.
I will be picking up Sam this morning from the pet resort. I am sure he will be happy to get home.
It sounds like you all had a nice holiday.
We had some snow here while we were gone, had to clean off the cars when we got home. Someone
shoveled our driveway. We are not sure who yet, landscapers, neighbor or a friend of my hubby's?
We have a doorbell camera, but couldn't recognize the person.
    Laundry awaits.
    Have a great day! :)
