Happy Sunday! :) Our family zoom called has been moved to this afternoon. It is 5 degree F here with a real feel of minus 5. I am staying in today and tomorrow but have an appointment for an oil change on Tuesday. Wednesday a heat wave with 25 degrees F which is good since I have dinner plans with my 3 friends who couldn't make it in December for our Christmas dinner so here we are almost a month later.

Lin, do you think you should go to the doctor for your back? It could be sciatica or a bulging disc which they could possibly give you a cortisone shot to help with the pain. I hate to hear you are in pain and would recommend a trip to an orthopedic. Sorry if I am overstepping. I live on the 2nd floor and my sink is on an inside wall so I think I am okay, at least I hope so.

Jackie, glad to hear Betty is getting better. Our pets are like children and I hate when they are not feeling well. I really need to get my car washed as well, but every time I am ready they call for rain or snow. Luckily we don't have tractors riding down our streets with muddy back splash. Your new attire sounds great and warm.

Barbie, hope today is better than yesterday and all the days that follow even better. Thinking of you.

A quiet day for me. It is cold and overcast so apart from our usual walk round the block, checking the hens are ok and collecting fuel stored outside for the fire, I have remained inside. Housework took up some time but generally I’ve relaxed. Betty seems to very slowly be improving but I will wait for test results before getting too pleased.
In the morning Linda is bringing logs and other wood for my fires that her son cut up a couple of weeks ago. We will probably go out for coffee somewhere but that’s as exciting as my days are, not that I mind because the past few weeks were hectic! I won’t be watching your Presidential Inauguration!

    Happy Sunday. Stay warm.

Hello, very cold here today and many churches canceled all of their activities. Since I was watching online, I was fine with whatever they decided. I did watch the service. It has been extremely quiet in this neighborhood today. Very little traffic, no one walking, not even many dogs barking.

Today was a better back day. Wahoo! No Ibuprofen so far. I will shut up about this now. Thanks for letting me moan.

Jackie, a quiet day for you sounds good. And more wood being brought to you tomorrow also sounds lovely along with a coffee appointment. I hope you find a good spot to buy your hot beverage.

Sandy, your weather sounds like ours. A good day to stay indoors. No doctor’s appointment for me at this point. I am just a wimp.

Barbie, did you get groceries today? I hope you are not having any of this cold snap. Take care.

:) Jake had a will and this is a community property state. Everything goes to me, but there are still forms to fill out and sign, papers to deliver, and stuff to do that only I can do. It's nothing like what I had to do as executor of my mother's estate in 1991 but everything I do seems like climbing uphill and carrying stones.

Happy Monday! :) Lin and I are having the same cold weather, 4 degrees F with a real feel of 1degree. I plan on staying in for the next couple of days unless needed for something. I can't wait for summer.

The inauguration is on TV and although it doesn't make me happy I am watching it just because, don't ask me why because I don't know. Most of it is making me gag. lol (sorry if I am offending anyone)

Barbie, there is always something to do and I can understand how frustrating some of it becomes. Remember to take it one day at a time and to take care of yourself.

Lin, you know your body better than anyone, just please don't overdo. This weather doesn't help, it upsets my arthritis. Too cold to do anything so staying in sounds like a plan.

Jackie, glad to hear that Betty is feeling better. Enjoy your coffee with Linda and keep warm with those logs in your fireplace.

    Have a good day.

Hello. Argh! Cold, cold, cold. I checked the schedule a little while ago and I do have to take my trash bin out as we will have pickup on our regular day.

I read a book today, did exercise cautiously, started another birthday card and have been binging my favorite TV program “Hudson and Rex” and will watch episodes multiple times, never get tired of them.

Sandy, I am doing the same, staying indoors as much as possible. I did not watch anything related to politics although I did stream Bloomberg early this morning as they interviewed attendees at Davos.

    Take care everyone.

Hello and happy Tuesday. I lost my internet connection yesterday but the strange thing was my modem remained on with its green light! Each time I asked it to run a test it told me nothing was connected when everything was. I have to admit I’ve no patience with modern technology so unplugged the modem and went to bed and today I’m back online…. For now!
Linda delivered lots of wood for my fire and stayed for coffee so we had a long catchup. She also brought a tray of broad beans to be planted so that has motivated me to begin thinking about what I might grow this year. The vet phoned later to let me know that although not all Betty’s test results are back, what is showing is a lack of B12 so she will require weekly shots together with other supplements. It explains her symptoms so if the rest of the results arrive by Thursday I will make an appointment. This morning I left her at home in a warm bed while George and I climbed to the top of the moors because we both needed the exercise!
I should have put some dogs’ muddy towels into wash while we were out because the sun came out for a few hours, but too late now! It is time to feed the hens with a handful of corn, get fires set and think about putting the kettle on.

Your awful weather is apparently going to stir up the jet stream as it rushes across the Atlantic so we must expect yet another storm! I do hope you can keep yourselves warm. Definitely stay indoors!
    Take care
    Jackie 🥰

:)Sandy, Your reminder of one day at a time is so helpful. I can't rush ahead to get everything done.

:)Lin, Staying inside sounds like a good plan but doesn't work for me because the dogs need to get out and I am a fanatic about my 10,000 steps. Fortunately it's not as cold here as where you are. It's just a bit below freezing now and will be warmer in the afternoon.

:)Jackie, Dog towels are important. Sometimes I think I have too many, but since there is space to store them, I keep them all just in case.

:) Yesterday I filled out one online form that included attaching a scanned copy of Jake's death certificate. I won't know for awhile if I did it right and accomplished what was required. I also went online to find where to dispose of all the medications. I'll go look for the place today while I'm out to go to the library.

Happy Tuesday! :) Still bitter cold, so staying put. I just feel so bad for my grandkids, they did not cancel classes even though the temps are minus 25 degrees F. Lisa's classes were canceled but she is in a different school district and teaches special ed pre school kids. Very cold for kids even if just outside for a short time.

Barbie, glad you are not getting our subzero weather. You are very disciplined with your steps, good for you. Below freezing is still too cold for me, I should live in a warm state, but I would miss my grandchildren too much.

Jackie, glad you are getting some answers for Betty. I also take vitamin B12 which helps with energy and anemia. Technology can be frustrating at times. I understand how you feel.

Lin, stay in and stay warm, this is just horrible. Hopefully, the weather will be better tomorrow for our dinner although snow flurries are in the forecast.

Try and stay warm and have a good day.

    Brrrrr🥶

Yep, another cold day today but this evening we made it back above zero. Snow tomorrow, not sure how much maybe less than 2 inches.

Hope it is a little warmer in the morning as I need to make a trip to the library. Hope my car starts.

I received some 1099s today but far from all of them. SSA sent me an email indicating I should login and see new information that was available for my account.

I had signed up their new system during the summer (login.gov) and then cheerfully forgot about the details for getting back in. 🫣

I locked myself out of one of my online banking apps last night. The message said I would need to contact them today. Well huzzah, this morning I was able to get to ‘forgot password’ and had no problem getting the issue resolved. Sometimes you just have to wait.

Be safe everyone. Talk to you tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday! :) Warmer today but a little snow. I am meeting my friends for our "Christmas" dinner a month late. Two of them are consistently busy so we had to postpone until today. I am hoping no more snow because I hate driving in snow. We have movie night scheduled for Saturday with Lisa's parents as they are leaving next week. I will offer to take them to the airport even though it means getting up early. I hate seeing people pay for rides when I am available.

It was wonderful hearing from Anne today although not with her sad news. For those who want to know she fell on her son's floor and broke her foot in two places. They didn't want to do surgery do to her heart problems so they put a big cast on her foot and she is not allowed to put pressure on it. She is going into a care facility for a month until she heals. Jilly, her pup will stay with Michael. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Lin, for some reason I am having a problem getting to one of my credit cards online and hope it is a glitch in their system. As Jackie said, technology can be a pain the you know what. I was happy to hear from SS as mine went up as they adjusted my income from when Babe died.

I am also stopping at my jewelry store as my son's chain broke again and they will fix it for him. I am also bringing some gold pieces I had that no one will want to see if they are worth selling.
    Have a good day,

A cold day for me so I again left Betty at home while I walked George. It ended up twice the distance because as I returned to the car park George disappeared from view and no amount of calling worked. Two ladies with dogs told me a man was trying to catch a dog on the far side of an open area where cattle were gathering, which was where I had reached before turning to go back to my car. I realised he must have lost sight of me so had followed his scent that took him in the wrong direction! Back I went, calling all the time, then caught sight of him in the distance as he suddenly heard me, looked in my direction and then started to run toward me! I saw the man who had been trying to catch him and thanked him and he laughed as he described George as an aloof loner but was allowed by George to stroke him before we once again walked to the car park. Before driving home I needed to pick up George’s raw food so was out nearly 3 hours but Betty seemed fine when we finally got home, and no accidents! After doing so well yesterday, eating plenty, she decided to fast today so I will be relieved to see her receive the first B12 shot tomorrow that will hopefully boost her energy levels.
In the afternoon I did my best to begin repairing sections of the chicken run roof where squirrels have chewed through wire netting to get at the food but with cold fingers and sun in my eyes as I looked up, I had slow progress. At least the job has been started.

How sad for Anne to have broken bones in her foot. I really do hope her stay in a care facility will be short.

Barbie, I agree about dog towels because I never seem to have enough. Half a dozen were washed and dried today but I see our forecast is showing rain for nearly two weeks so more will be needed!

    Enjoy your Christmas dinner Sandy!

    Gorgeous teapot Lin.

Gone midnight so we are all off to bed. This photo was taken a few mornings ago when I had thrown my duvet over the bottom of my bed to air it while I took a shower and returned to this scene!

:) I had a giant sinking spell yesterday afternoon so I put Annie in the car and we went off to deliver a knitted blanket to Project Linus and two bags of stuff to the charity shop. I felt better when I got home. Earlier I had called the man who manages our investments and he assured me that the process would be simple and he'd take care of it but it required a death certificate and he would drive the 50 miles from his office to pick it up on Friday morning. So things are getting done.

:)Sandy, We don't have a lot of snow here, but when we do, I don't drive in it. You are a more experienced snow driver than I am.

:)Jackie, How scary to have George take off like that. Glad all is well.

:)Lin, all that computer stuff is such a challenge. You reminded me that I haven't done that new log in with Social Security.

:) Maybe I'll summon the courage to call Social Security today.

Well hello. Where did yesterday go? Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. You didn’t miss much. I went to the library, talked to a friend for quite a while on options to get more video content without taking on any subscriptions. She and her hubby have some kind of complex system through their Internet provider although they do not receive many channels. They have had their daughter and SIL come over to help them. Unfortunately they didn’t get it and had to call for a service appointment when they couldn’t get back to the cable box feed.

I suggested an additional small television and a Roku box. I told her I could walk them through setting it up. We also talked about a television with a DVD player. She wants more content but doesn’t want to mess up anything she already has. I understand.

Also talked to the bank yesterday about this year’s RMD as my rep is absolutely a great banker and they have had no mistakes with my account in the many years with them. I am so sad that she is retiring in a couple of months. 😢

Also talked to the church secretary as I needed the church’s Federal Tax ID for some info I must send to my accountant related to taxes.

Did a bit of cardio and a little cooking.

Well, that is all from here.

Barbie, good strategy for getting out of a very blue spell. 👍🏻❤️👍🏻

Jackie, wow, that was a scary episode with George! Don’t push yourself too hard with repairs. Best wishes. I heard there was some bad weather to the North of you. I hope that was accurate and things will be fine in your area.

We didn’t get much snow yesterday but just after dark we got more snow and actually the roads were extremely slippery. I could hear cars spinning their wheels as they couldn’t get up the incline in the second block of our street.

    Sandy, have a good day.

    Must run along.

Happy Thursday! :) Didn't go to my meeting today as Rob texted me last night and asked if I could come watch Max today because he was sick and Rob had to go downtown to his office. I got up at 6:30 to get there by 7:30 and stayed until about 4:30. I promised the kids Mc Donald's after school so kept my promise. I did not sleep well last night and woke about 3am and couldn't fall back to sleep. I guess I did eventually but it sure doesn't feel like it. I can't wait to go to bed. lol

I will be back in the morning, I really need to relax.

Lost my post!! Gone midnight and the storm with what appears to be a Welsh name is raging outside so I’m not going to get much sleep even though we in Cornwall are only getting hit by the tail end. The Scottish Highlands will definitely have to baton down the hatches!
I won’t repeat what was lost in the disappearing post but update Betty’s situation after another trip to the vet. She has received her first B12 shot so it’s now a waiting game for an improvement. She has gone off the special dietary food so I gave a small piece of chicken for breakfast but the vet has advised not to give her more in case she is allergic. I have mixed the other with warm water to try to make it more palatable but she’s still turning her nose up! If her appetite doesn’t improve I can take her back to the vet for a steroid injection and she is also booked in next Thursday for a 2nd B12 shot. She is sleeping lots and isn’t in pain or distressed so it’s a waiting game.

I do feel for you Barbie. Those horrid dips can come when you least expect them so well done getting yourself out with Annie. I know too that all the exhausting so-called official stuff can seem never ending but you are doing the best thing by pacing yourself.

Sandy, I hope your Christmas get together was fun!

I’ll get myself ready for bed and hope things quieten down. It’s 1am but I don’t have to go anywhere tomorrow so might get a lie in!
    Take care

Happy Friday! :) Bringing my car in for an oil change and hope they don't find a million other things to fix. Started my laundry and will end up finishing after I get back. I made it through the day even tried to take a nap but couldn't. I did get a good night's sleep so feel good today. I am thinking of not taking Lisa's parents to airport as I have a trial appointment later that day and would like to be rested, is that mean? I have such a hard time saying no, something I have been working on since joining Al Anon 17 years ago.

Jackie, I do hope poor Betty starts feeling good. How old are Betty and George, I forgot. Our dinner was excellent and I won money at the slots so it was a good night. I hope the storm didn't keep you awake all night and you got some sleep.

Lin, I haven't received anything for taxes yet. I hope I know what I am doing and all my information isn't online waiting for me to print. Don't we have to the end of February for all documents to be delivered?
This is the first time in over 40 years I am filing myself with the help of my accountant.

Barbie, I get those spells often, mostly when I hear a song on the radio that reminds me of Babe. It's okay to cry and/or punch a pillow to help you get through the tough times. <3

    Have a good day.

Good afternoon. It has warmed up to freezing this afternoon. Yippee!

I just got through to Amazon customer service to request a refund for an order I placed in mid-December that never arrived. When I finally got connected with chat, the representative got my refund processed fairly quickly.

I talked to a friend this afternoon—it had been long a long time since we chatted. Very enjoyable.

Did some laundry this morning, participated in several cardio classes, and have been working on a few odds and ends the remainder of the day. The first and last online card class of the year is on February 8th. I only thought of it as I received my supplies today. It looks like another not too interesting set of classes. Will see what happens. Much information is still not available.

Sandy, I am sure you will be fine with your tax filing. I seem to be entangled in more complicated issues most years. 👀 Companies used to have to get tax info in the mail by the end of January I believe but now, who knows! Any international accounts have longer. I make a checklist each year to track what I have and what I should be looking for. How did the car service appointment go? Please look after yourself and don’t get into any potential scheduling conflict with your eye appointment.

Jackie, I saw a video of Kerry and the dogs being blown about quite roughly. What wind! Today is Paddy’s birthday I believe. A beautiful dog. Hoping Betty is eating. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

    Take care everyone.

:)[bbSandy[/b] I need four documents for my taxes. One came in the mail, one is available online, and the other two haven't arrived. I set mid February as my goal for sending stuff to the accountant.

:) My dog loving friend (the one who was the breeder of our poodles) came over today to use my printer and brought me a pot of homemade vegetable beef soup--enough to fill seven single serving freezer jars. We has a great visit til I had to go for my mammogram. I came home to a message from her that she couldn't find her cell phone and it must have been left at my house. With Annie's help I looked everywhere and found five of Annie's orange balls, a dryer ball and some undies that were behind the dryer, but no phone. It wasn't until she and her husband came back to my house to look that they found the phone on the hood of their car.

Good morning. A quieter day after that wild storm. Several power cuts and more trees down in the village yesterday after a mini tornado caused damage. David told me he had taken Hattie for a walk and nearly got blown over. Luckily a couple of dog walkers saw him struggling and helped him back to his car. Tornadoes are a rare event, thank goodness! This morning George and I went for a climb over the hills, leaving Betty to snooze. He loved every minute dashing about. Betty is very quiet but I’m doing my best to encourage her to eat by hand feeding a few kibble biscuits smeared in peanut butter.
I plan to get a few gardening jobs carried out because there’s more bad weather on the way. Came close to losing this post so will send it on its way and maybe return later. Happy Saturday.
    Keep warm and safe.

Happy Saturday! :) Zoom call with family at 12:30 then movie and pizza afternoon with kiddos, parents and Lisa's parents. It is warmer today and the sun is out so it's a good day. I had the oil changed on my car and then my advisor said the parts were in for the recall on safety seat weight sensor that my cause air deployment during a crash. Good thing they had a shuttle to take me home while they fixed it because it was there for over 4 hours. Problem is they only had some of the parts for the recall so I will have to go back when the rest come in. At least my bill was reasonable with no other things wrong that I had to pay for.

Time is getting away from me so have a good day.

Hello. A warmer day today and we even had sunshine! Yes!

Tried to do all of my planned exercises minutes in back to back classes this morning. Didn’t work out quite as I’d hoped but I did get everything packed in. 😄

Received my first statement of giving from a charity today. And several 1099s. Onward!!

I am working on some coloring for card making but it is going slowly as much of it includes tiny little
    spaces.

Jackie, I am glad that you and George got out for a walk. Kerry posted some indoor photos. The power is out there. Several of the dogs were sitting quietly looking out the window while the other two were sleeping in front of the fire.

Sandy, I hope you had a good family Zoom call.

Barbie, your tax info gathering sounds so streamlined, I am in awe.

Jackie, I wish Betty had some appetite. Is the only issue a B12 deficiency??

Be well and safe my friends.

Happy Sunday! :) Movie day was fun even though Max is still sick. Rob said he is better today so I hope his fever has broken. Mass today and then taking our nun friend out for an early dinner. She has been friends with the family since Babe's parents were alive. She is in a retirement home for nuns and is 85 the same age as Babe would be.

Lin, you are so organized and still manage to get all your other stuff done. Keep up the good work.

Jackie, your weather sounds horrible. I am glad George in enjoying his free time but tell him to pay attention to where you go. lol Poor Betty, I hope you get some answers soon.

Barbie, your friends were lucky the phone didn't fall off the hood of the car while they were driving.
I am surprised they didn't see it while driving unless they left the car at your house. (confused)

:)Lin, my tax preparation is streamlined now because I no longer itemize. Years ago when we owned real estate, did some side hustles, and itemized, the gathering was endless. Now it's simple. All my investments are handled in a single place, they provide the 1099 of the activity for the year and I send it to the same accountant we've used for years. I pay her a hefty sum, but it's like buying peace of mind---priceless.

Well, yet another storm arrived this morning that threw everything at us so I decided to have a leisurely day at home. While I was in the shower a friend phoned to make sure I was alright but then worried because I didn’t hear it ringing, although George did react. I called her back once I noticed a message had been left and thanked her for checking on me.
Dear Betty is still not eating the food the vet supplied but shows a lot of interest in Brady’s and George’s so it’s not as if she doesn’t have an appetite and I feel really bad. I tell myself the diarrhoea she gets eating theirs isn’t doing her any good but on the other hand, those big brown eyes looking at me break my heart. I’m going to research feeding dogs fish because I can always give it to Brady if she doesn’t like it. Lin, nothing much else showed up in her tests as a problem so it is a mystery. I think I will take up the next option of a steroid shot, along with the B12 which should relieve any gut inflammation.

Sandy, George rarely pays attention to my instructions! Brady is the same so I sometimes feel my home is one for delinquents! I’ve been working on my round, rather complicated jigsaw and to get my attention Brady either sits on the table in the open box of pieces or on the completed section to pull pieces off with a paw!

I wrote a long email to Anne earlier but when I touched “send” it disappeared with a whoosh but didn’t deliver. Now my Sent emails file is completely blank so at the moment I’m blaming the storm!
I must get to bed. No plans for tomorrow but hopefully I can book a vet appointment.
    Take care.

Plans were cancelled as I have a cold and didn’t want to share with anyone. We postponed for two weeks. I do hope I feel well enough to go to trial appointment Wednesday but will take it one day at a time. Bryanna comes to visit on Thursday. John and Laurie are coming Friday so they can be here for her birthday gathering on Saturday. Bad time to get sick.

Hello! Today was not as warm as yesterday but I pretty much stayed inside, hardly peeping my nose outside!

Jackie, another storm!?!? Oh my gosh, hardly getting a break between storms. ☹️ Poor Betty, I can imagine looking at her big eyes and feeling like you are making her suffer. I hope the next treatment will make a difference.

Barbie, I have to collect everything and provide it to my accountant as sometimes she uses info on my state return. Anyway, she wants it so I find it.

Sandy, glad you had a fun movie get together with the kids.

I got my cardio classes in today, and attended church online and finished the coloring I have been doing slowly. Waiting until it is day light before cutting out the colored images. I was afraid I would do a poor job after dark.

I baked some sweet potatoes today but have run out of leftovers. Time to cook tomorrow.

    Be safe everyone.
