A happy but cold Tuesday. We started off with drizzle then, as I pottered in my kitchen I noticed my windows were building condensation as the cold air arrived and within minutes the promised Arctic blast had arrived outside. I managed a decent walk with George and Betty wearing their jackets but once home decided housework was the best option, including clearing the stove ash and relighting the fires. It’s unusual to get below zero in November but then the weather has been topsy turvy all year.
I’m now sipping hot chocolate and will probably have a relatively early night.
Lin, I do admire how much work you put into your card making. Lazy me, I buy a couple of packs of charity cards! Don’t do a Mary Poppins with that umbrella!
I hope your back appointment is satisfactory Sandy. Are you expecting another injection? Enjoy your evening meal.
Take care and keep warm.

Happy Wednesday! Dinner and seminar was good last night. Free dinner for listening to a lady talk about pain relief with stem cells. Of course it's not covered by insurance and they gave no price but if you called today you could save $1400 so you can imagine what the cost might be. I was nasty and gave a wrong cell phone number on their sheet so they can't bug me. I will stick with my pain management doctor. I have a consultation with him on December 9th to go over my options from surgery, to radiofrequency ablation to the injections that I have been getting. We will see.
I have to get ready to meet my old neighbors for lunch at 11;30, which seems more like brunch than lunch. I did not sleep well last night so will probably end up with a nap later.
Have a good day.

Hi…..and BRRRRRR. Super windy and cold merging to make it feel like winter today. We did have some lumpy precipitation this morning. 😁
I did some laundry this morning, several cardio classes and now I am back to cards, cards, and more cards. My 30 or 40 cards always take an inordinate amount of time. I do love the green paper I received yesterday. It is called Christmas Tree green and that is what I am cutting out of it. The intricate things I am putting on the front of each card require slow and careful application of glue. I did find a bright desk lamp to use to help me see what I am doing. Wahoo!
Sandy, very clever to include a fake phone number. 👍🏻👍🏻. Sorry you didn’t sleep well last night. That’s been a problem for me a lot lately. High anxiety dreams. Ack!
Well, back to the glue. If I do not pick up the pace, it will take 4 more days to glue together the stuff on the fronts of these cards. Then the interiors are next, then the back of the cards and finally addressing dozens of envelopes. Oh, and I need to make some birthday cards for December. Wish I was faster….
Be safe everyone.

Winter is still with us but apparently only until Saturday. Early morning freezing rain stopped me from driving to the moors to meet David as our plan was for him to follow me home and bring Hattie in to acclimatise herself with my home, so hopefully no problems while she stays at the weekend. We will now do this on Friday. It warmed up enough for me to clean out the hen house but apart from that I enjoyed a quiet day. I’ve just let George and Betty out for their last garden visit and it is bitterly cold so wait to see what we wake up to!
Stay safe and warm.
Jackie 🥰1 -
I pulled back my bedroom curtains to a wintery scene. Too icy to walk so George and Betty will have to potter in the garden. They are currently in front of the stove in respective beds! I will sort the crab apples and plums ready for Christmas chutney but nothing else planned. Hopefully milder tomorrow so Hattie can visit with David and see where she will be staying over.
Happy Thursday.
Stay warm and safe.
Jackie 🥰1 -
We have the same weather Jackie. Happy Thursday! I am not going to my meeting since this is the first snow. I am going to go to Lisa's house to celebrate her surprise birthday. I am just hoping it stops soon and the roads are ok. I am going to wait to see before I commit otherwise we will postpone.
I am so far behind today so like Jackie said, stay warm and safe.

Well gosh, snow, snow, snow. I hope you are safe out there. We had flurries yesterday but they did not accumulate and when the heavier snow came through, it totally missed us. Today was just super cold and windy. I got out my new winter coat and it is quite warm. Love it. Just busy doing the same stuff. Got my towels laundered today. Tomorrow is supposed to be a day without the super strong winds. That sounds good.
See you tomorrow. Any news from Anne?

Happy Friday! Been busy all day running around and still managed to do laundry. Going out to a birthday dinner soon so I will be back tomorrow.
Have a good evening,

Hi, the wind did die down overnight so today was a bit nicer. I didn’t make it out of my house until after dark to pick up my mail. I spent the entire day working on cards and completing several great cardio classes. I don’t think I have spoken to a live person this week. No phone calls, no errands where I chat with people, nada. Just conversations in messenger. I hope I don’t go all the way through next week without any conversations. People are visiting, having family dinners and going to special events. I guess the plus side is that I should be able to finish my cards in time and have a bit of time to work on several December birthday cards.
Sandy, on the run again! Hope you enjoyed the dinner this evening.
Jackie, hi!
Best wishes to all….

Hello sneakers. I’m home after a difficult journey to collect David and Hattie, driving to the hospital, drop ping him off for his hip replacement, then bringing Hattie home. A new storm came in last night that brought the temperature up enough to melt all the snow but the run off is causing floods so not much fun at 6.30am with gales and rain. David didn’t stop talking all the way, probably because he was feeling apprehensive, but I managed to concentrate enough to stay on the road! He mentioned he had fed Hattie before I collected them but I’m afraid that was a mistake because her tummy was obviously churning on my way home and we just made it back. Too much Information!! 🤢 George and Betty slightly put out and Brady was not impressed but we are safe and Storm Bert should pass later today. Hattie is cosy in her bed and I will light the wood burner and stay home.
Happy Saturday. Keep warm!

Happy Sunday! Another chilly day but at least no snow. The birthday dinner was great and she really enjoyed it. Today the kiddos are coming to spend the night. I will take them to Church with me and then to Mc Donald's. Rob has to pick them up by 9:30am tomorrow as I am being picked up at 9:45 to go see my cousin in Indiana. Her daughter texted us and said she is not doing well and although she is hoping she is going to rebound she suggested if we wanted to see her to do so now. We will drive to the brother of the lady picking me up and he will drive us to her assisted living home. We won't stay long as I have to be back to take our nun friend out to dinner at 4:00. My schedule is over booked.
Jackie, sorry you encountered such bad weather and Hattie was doing her best to not have an accident in your car. Did David have his surgery yesterday? Won't he be in the hospital a while with a new hip? You are so nice to keep Hattie safe at your house even though some of your critters are jealous. Hattie is adorable.
Lin, too bad you don't get paid for all that hard work in making the cards but I am sure those that receive them are very appreciative. These are busy days and will only get busier with the holidays. I am already looking forward to our trip to the Bahamas in January.
Enjoy your Saturday.

Just lost a long post by barely touching the bottom corner of the iPad screen! 😩. I can’t repeat it all but will return later.
Happy Sunday

Oh darn, where did my post go? 🙋🏼♀️
Happy Sunday. Just watched the Hanging of the Greens service at church. It was enjoyable and I sang along to all of the hymns. Also joined in several good cardio classes and am working on birthday cards.
Jackie, I heard the current storm is quite bad and there is much flooding across the country and in Wales. I hope you are fine and there have been no sick doggos.
Sandy, you are traveling for Thanksgiving correct? I believe you mentioned Memphis? When do you leave? Hope you made it through all the events on your super packed schedule.
Be safe everyone.

Happy Monday! Sorry never had time to post yesterday. Kids woke me up early, had to feed them and get them packed up for dad to pick them up. My cousin picked me up at 9:45 to drive to her brothers house and he and his wife drove us to Indiana to see our other cousin. She is not doing well and looked so weak. She hardly eats and is so weak it is hard to understand her. We were so glad we went to visit her even if it was a short visit. I got home in time for Cheryl to tell me she would be at my house in 9 minutes to go pick up Sister Maria for her birthday dinner. We got there early but were told Sr. Maria wasn't home, that she was going to dinner with friends. We drove to the restaurant thinking she had someone else drive her there but no. We called back the retirement convent and finally got the number of the lady Sr. Maria was with. Drove back to the convent and finally picked her up. It was quite confusing but once there we all had a good time.
Today I am doing last minute laundry and will pack. I am hoping to go to the jewelry store to pick up my sons necklace that we had repaired and run a small errand. I won't be leaving here until 11:30am to go the airport tomorrow so I should have to rush around.
I looked at my calendar for December and it is jammed packed. I will welcome that vacation to the Bahama's in January.
Have a good day and stay healthy and safe.
Sandy

Hello friends
Sandy, you have been on a flat out run lately. Hope you were able to do your errands today. Happy packing and safe travel!
Jackie, I heard another report of flooding in Wales and the announcer was saying some low lying areas probably should ban people from moving back in. That would be radical.
I have addressed envelopes for Christmas cards today but didn’t get to the birthday card that needs to be sent tomorrow. That shouldn’t take long.
It has been a very cold and windy day. I did a couple of errands after cardio classes. I was happy to get home again.
A real plus for today, I was able to get in touch with my health insurance agent. We talked for a while and after the discussion I decided to stay in this plan for another year. A comparable plan with Aetna is available but the benefits are similar as are the networks.
Take care everyone.

I’m sorry I didn’t post yesterday but my day was not my own because after walking my pooches and Hattie I received a call from the hospital to ask me to collect David by 2pm. It was a rush to collect Hattie’s bed, towels and food and pack the car, then settle her on the back seat before driving to Plymouth. A helpful security man in the hospital car park allowed me to park by the entrance doors and I was taken to the floor his room was located and a nurse used a wheelchair to get him out to my car. A small problem was with Hattie in the back there was little room for a new pair of walking canes, frame and toilet seat but I managed to squeeze them in round her and headed home. Poor Hattie was so confused she ignored David until we got back to his cottage but seems fine now. This was taken yesterday when we waited for the call to collect her dad!
David told me about the dreadful night he had when one of the drugs gave him Hallucinations so along with giant spiders on the floor, he saw Hattie sitting in the chair next to his bed and was asking a nurse where he was as he thought he had been kidnapped! When she explained he asked why I had brought Hattie into the hospital! He was given an antidote but he phoned me last night because he was confused about the drugs he brought home so after a long walk this morning with George and Betty in beautiful sunshine, I visited and went through the list with him. I think he had been tired and overwhelmed when first at home but is more with it today and understands what they all do.
Finally, peace at last and the fire is lit, George and Betty are snoozing and I will take it easy.
Lin, we were warned about the imminent arrival of Storm Bert but I assume it was difficult for forecasters to predict how much moisture accumulated as it crossed the Atlantic. We have been warned to expect more to occur as the planet warms but also, in the past lots of housing has been constructed on what were flood plains that are designed to collect heavy rain so I’m not surprised homeowners are being advised not to return. Lots of planning regulations were ignored!! Cute dragon! Due you remember Puff the Magic Dragon? Wasn’t it a Peter, Paul and Mary song?
Wow Sandy, so much going on, I wonder why my recent schedule tired me out! I’m so sorry to read how unwell your cousin is but it’s good you got to visit her. With the time difference I’m not sure but think you are heading for the airport. Safe journey. ✈️❤️
I have heard from Anne and as I thought, she caught Michael’s flu but now sounds back to her good self. I’m trying to catch up with emails and will send her everyone’s love.
Cup of tea time. Take care everyone.

Hello, I made my way through several grocery stores today and went to the gas station to get the last available pump. Yes, everything is busy.
Sandy, I hope you made your flight and that all has gone smoothly. I hope we hear from you in the next few days.
Jackie, oh my gosh, what a day you had! You do so well at coping with these crazy fast changing situations. Good for you. I don’t know you fit everything in your car. Well done! Are your fur kids happy to have their home back to normal?
In between cardio classes right now and I have the regular Tuesday night YouTube Live class. Thought I would just say hello.
See you tomorrow.

Finally a day to myself plus pets, to relax, do some housework and catch up with emails. I’m even going to start writing Christmas cards which is unheard of for me in November. It’s been dry but cold and both pooches have slotted back into their usual routine although Betty has been struggling with an upset tummy so I’ve only given her a handful of kibble to eat. The storm might have done some damage to my roof because I have spotted a damp patch in a corner of my bedroom so will have to contact a handyman to come and take a look. Hey ho, there is always something! My tv’s reception is playing up again and after several attempts to retune it I’ve decided to find something interesting to watch on YouTube instead.
What an amazing clever teapot lid Lin but it wouldn’t last five minutes with me trying to wash the lid!
Take care and keep warm.

This was a busy day. Laundry, cardio classes, cooking including cranberry sauce, quinoa, sweet potatoes and dug out the DVD with the Turkey Drop Episode of WKRP. It is still funny to watch. Lots of messages with friends today with everyone wishing each other a happy thanksgiving.
Glad you got time to yourself Jackie. My goodness, starting on Christmas cards. Starting to sound like me. I actually need to add inside greeting on all of my cards. That’s on the list for this weekend. Poor Betty, is she feeling any better? I hope your roof is okay. I actually have seen a few little stains on my bedroom ceiling and have thought I should ask someone to look at it. I did have an earlier episode where the waterproofing round the roof vent let some water in so I have a few really old stains. The paint didn’t keep the stains covered. I would just like to ignore it. And that teapot wouldn’t last a day with me. Just interesting.
Sandy, hope you are enjoying your visit.
Best wishes to all our Sneakers.
See you soon.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 I did post yesterday but then must have lost it. I arrived Tuesday after a delay and after checking into hotel went to see the rest of the family. Aloha is adorable but still very shy with me. Yesterday was better so hoping for a picture with her today. It has been fun and today Kristy’s MIL is having brunch at 11 and dinner at 6. I leave tomorrow afternoon and can’t wait to sleep in my own bed.
Have a great day.

Another quiet day so I took George and Betty for a long walk on the moors in a cold wind that had George running about happily while Betty trotted by my side. She seems subdued and once home again curled up in her bed by the fire. I phoned David before we went out to see if he needed anything but he’s stocked up and another of our dog walking group had arrived to take Hattie for a walk so another day off for me! He is still feeling nauseous at times but a neighbour has told him if he ever needs help in the night to phone whatever the time and she will pop in so that’s put his mind at rest, and mine because I hate the drive to his home along narrow muddy lanes, especially in the dark.
I have a pile of the dogs’ muddy towels waiting to be laundered but didn’t start the washing machine because my weather app showed rain for most of the day. It didn’t arrive until late afternoon so that was a missed opportunity and looks as if Monday is our next dry day!
Lin, I didn’t find time to phone the recommended handyman but looking from outside I can’t see any missing or slipped roof tiles. Unfortunately gone are the days I will climb a ladder up into the roof space so at the moment ignorance is bliss! The Brambly Hedge teapot is sweet. Those little mice live in the English countryside and I seem to remember the books first came out some time in the 80’s.
Hello Sandy, lovely to hear from you. Safe journey home and into your own bed!
I’ve just finished a mug of hot chocolate so will be heading for my bed.
Stay safe.

Hello. I was ill overnight so I took it easy today and lucky me there was a parade and a dog show. Yippee.
I did get the insides of the cards glued in place today. I didn’t write in them yet. I prefer to wait until it is closer to when I put them in the mail.
Sandy, glad you are enjoying your trip.
Jackie, now I am thinking of hot cocoa. I had hot tea this morning. I have lots of leftovers and never did finish my cooking. Glad you had a day to yourself and were relieved of responsibilities for some of your friend’s care. Is Betty okay?
Take care. Some snow flurries here today.

Happy Friday. I’m losing track of the days but here we are, the end of another week. Today has been mild but raining so because George and Betty remain subdued, I didn’t go for a walk but encouraged them into the garden regularly. I’ve a chicken casserole bubbling in my slow cooker that should be ready to eat now. Just diced chicken, an onion and carrots with a cheating packet of sauce mix. It does smell good!
David sounded cross when I phoned because he had spoken to a friend in another county who had been offered personal care 3 times a day for 6 weeks after a hip replacement. It is available in Cornwall too but you have to know the right questions to ask of the GP and it seems our practice wasn’t helpful. Thankfully the friend that walked Hattie yesterday was going to return today so I didn’t have to go but he told David he thinks that muddy, narrow journey is dangerous and I agreed!
I phoned the vet practice to check if my online order for Betty’s kibble was in then drove into town to pick up and also buy postage stamps for Christmas cards. That was my only outing and just as well because it was getting dark by 3pm!
So that’s been my day and now the clock is striking 6 so I am going to enjoy my casserole with steamed veggies.
Lin, I do hope you had a better night with no illness. Betty has eaten a small amount of her fresh kibble and wagged her tail so that is a good sign. Anne has a hospital check back in Oakville today to monitor her heart. I will let you know how she got on when I hear. Meanwhile the decorating continues in the apartment block corridors and residents are told to ignore the fire alarm. That sounds a dangerous suggestion to me!
Take care and keep safe and warm.
Jackie 🥰0 -
Hello, lots of items I buy regularly are on sale right now so I am placing orders. I will have a winter’s worth of cereal and my type of sweetener, date syrup. The stick salve that was dropped from all of our local stores magically appeared to order directly from the manufacturer. I have ordered a winter’s worth of that as well, it might even last longer. And a few other odds and ends.
I received a letter from my doctor’s office and some very bad news. He passed away unexpectedly a week ago. I am to find a new doctor. I would like to find out if his nurse is staying or leaving and if she is staying, who will she work with. I am guessing I will not be able to get through to her. Well, I have started hunting.
Last night wasn’t great but not as bad as the night before. I tried to not move. That seemed to help.
Jackie, your meal sounds very good. Leftovers? I can understand how David would feel, when you don’t know what to ask for, the extras aren’t often offered. Looking forward to hearing how Anne’s appointment went. I hope she had good news. Ignore alarms? Dangerous advice!!
Sandy, how’s the weather in Memphis?
Safe travels.
See you tomorrow.

Happy Saturday! Home safe and sound. Cheryl picked me up from airport then we met Marisa and her two friends for an appetizer. Today is my son's birthday and after our video call I am taking him and his family for an early dinner and then we are going to church together. Tomorrow is another dinner for my friend's 80th birthday. Busy days ahead I am already looking forward to our Bahama trip.
Lin, hope you are on the mend.
Jackie, after my knee replacement a nurse came in daily I think and physical therapy came at least 3 times a week until I was able to go to another place to finish all my therapy.
Enjoy your day.

Another mild and wet day and although George is perking up a bit, Betty continues to be lethargic and have an awful upset tummy. She did eat a few of her special kibble biscuits but I’m not confident I’ll get a night’s sleep without her needing to go out!
Great news from Anne. Her cardiologist told her there is an improvement in her heart condition so to keep doing what she does, although cut down the number of bananas eaten to a couple a week which is a shame because she enjoyed one with her breakfast. Also, her eyesight is excellent now and she is about to finish the drops as she continues to discover she has brightly coloured clothes and bed covers she had thought dull. She enjoyed a wonderful family get together after the appointment too so life is good.
Lin, that’s sad your doctor passed away, poor man, but I hope you can find one you feel you can trust and be comfortable with. Yes, plenty of leftovers!
Welcome home Sandy. I haven’t spoken to David today as I thought I should leave him to get used to being home and hopefully use the walking sticks he’s been given. If a dryer day tomorrow I will walk on the moors with George and Betty and phone him to see if he needs anything as it is on the way to his home. Your care when you had your knee replacement sounds ideal; nothing like he has been offered.
Bedtime 🥱

It was a cold day here. I made a trip to the library to return some books, that wind really smacked me in the face when I got out of my car. I was glad that I waited until my hair was dry before making that little trip.
Jackie, sorry Betty is still unwell. I hope tomorrow is a better day for walking. Thank you for the updates on Anne. What wonderful news, she can see and her heart condition has improved. Sorry she has lost her daily banana. All terrific news except the loss of her daily fruit.
Sandy, welcome home. Just in time to celebrate birthdays! You had great after care with your knee replacement surgery. I am not sure people get that much attention these days.
Today I did odds and ends around the house, cardio classes and read a book. There was a new Hallmark movie that I wanted to see as 2 of the actors from one of my favorite shows (Hudson and Rex) were in it. Unfortunately it was definitely a Hallmark movie and the actors weren’t exactly standouts in the movie.
Take care everyone.

Happy Sunday! My son's birthday celebration was great, he really enjoyed his birthday. Today is another birthday celebration for one of the four who go to dinners and the casino. She was 80 on November 11 but postponed her dinner to today. We are meeting at 4 and will no doubt gamble after dinner. Tomorrow I have a day to myself which I will love. Robby has a music recital at 4, Wednesday trial appointment, Thursday meeting, Friday a consultation with pain management doctor to talk about Radiofrequency Ablation and dental cleaning when done.
The cousin that I went to see last Sunday died the day before Thanksgiving so I am waiting to hear about her funeral arrangements. I am so happy I got to see her and tell her I love her.
Have a good day,
Sandy
