    Scam of the Week

    Don’t Wish for This Smish

In a recent text message phishing (smishing) scam, cybercriminals send you a text that appears to be from the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). The text says that you have a package at the post office that cannot be delivered due to an incomplete address. The message contains a PDF file and directs you to open it to complete your address.

You are then directed to click a button in the PDF file, which takes you to what appears to be a USPS web page. The page instructs you to enter your address, personal data, and credit card number so the USPS can attempt to redeliver your package. The catch is there never was a package. The USPS page is actually fake and controlled by cybercriminals. If you enter any information here, cybercriminals will be able to steal it immediately!

Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to a smishing scam:

This smishing scam claims to be from the USPS, but be wary of any unsolicited text messages from unknown numbers. If you aren’t sure if a message is legitimate, delete or report it.
Don't reply to unexpected text messages, even to say "STOP" or "unsubscribe." If you have any questions regarding delivery, contact your local post office directly.
Never click on any attachments or links from suspicious text messages or emails.

    good morning
Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Will. We'll have a little family party for him here tomorrow night on his actual birthday. I'm sure he enjoyed all the friends and games!
Thanks, Irene. I hope you're feeling better.
Ed, I love Thai food, don't get it very often because Pete's not a fan. I hope you don't have Celiac disease. It's really awful. One little mistake and yikes, total blowout for hours, scary. We've found most restaurants are very accommodating (Pete's steak the other night was without the sauce, thanks to the chef). You should check with your Dr. Thanks for the scam alert.
Jo, that's a lot of snow. Good that you've anticipated the ice. Your Valentine's day lunch sounds nice, and I'm glad you get to rest!
It's currently 30F, -1C. Windy with a mix of clouds and sun. Temps nearly steady in the mid 30s, low single digits C. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Our forecast has completely changed, negligible snow for Wednesday and Thursday. I wonder if the kleptocrats are messing with the NWS.
Anyway, wishing all a bright shiny new week. Stay warm and healthy. ☕🌬️⛅🌟🍷🕊️

    good morning
Got some laundry and things around the house done yesterday.
It's 18F, -8C, actually pretty sunny at the moment. Sun and clouds mixed. High near 30F, -1F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. BRRR.
Off to craft day today, and celebrating Will's birthday after that. Busy day.
Wishing all a good one. Stay warm. ☕⛅❄️❄️❄️🍷🥳🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

We have -2 (C) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 13 and 2% chance of precipitation.

Sounds like a pretty pleasant day, once it warms up!

I got the laundry folded yesterday, and put away. Yay, me!

My dinner yesterday was noodles with meatballs and spicy tomato sauce, and a generous sprinkle of 5-cheese Italian grated cheese. Garlic toast on the side. All of it was gluten free.

I don't think I necessarily have full blown Celiac, but I'll be discussing that with my doctor next time I see him. I don't get total agony from a little gluten, but it's pretty uncomfortable if I have some, even just from a gravy or the like. But I was able to eat regular biscuits and gravy, just with ... consequences, and they were getting worse, so it was time to do something.

I bought a variety of gluten free foods to play with and so far have been enjoying most of them, though some are a bit disappointing in texture or taste, or in a few cases both.

At least I don't have to totally give up everything I love!

    Well, work beckons.

    Good afternoon;
It is currently 21F and very windy. It was a good day to stay indoors.
Ed-good luck with your gluten free experimentation.
    Vix-How old is Will?
    Hi Irene.
I did laundry today after work and made brownies.
    Have a good evening. :)

Will is 6 today. He had a little fever last night, and unfortunately today he has the flu. Jennie is waiting for the pharmacy to call that his medicine is ready.

    good morning
Ed, good luck with the gluten free experiment. It can be hard finding bread that tastes good. You may want to try O'Doughs bagel thins , usually in the frozen section. They're small, but tasty, only 100 calories/bagel. It's amazing how many foods gluten sneaks into. And sometimes companies change their ingredients, so there's a lot of label checking involved.
Jo, brownies are such a good treat. Yum.
    Hi Irene.
Craft day was good. I have a few more pieces to cut out and grind for my glass project. The center didn't fire our kiln, so I have to wait until next week to see my glazed clay. I built a cup and a bowl that have to dry.
Will was down with the flu, so I think we'll have a family party for him on Friday.
It's currently 16F, -9C. A few snow showers scattered about the area this morning, otherwise a good deal of clouds. Very cold. High 27F, -3C. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30%.
    Wishing all a happy 🐪 day. ☕☁️❄️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!

We have 6 (C) cloudy degrees (feels like 4) with an expected cloudy high of 7 and 95% chance of precipitation.

Breakfast was bacon and a toasted Schär gluten free bagel. The bagel tasted OK, but didn't really have the mouth feel of a bagel. Still, it was acceptable.

    Work beckons.

I'll look for that. I DO like them crispy. I was just browsing the Schär website on my lunch break, and they make a lot of stuff. I found the ciabatta rolls a bit disappointing on first taste, but I think I can work with them. The same for the hot dog buns, but if warmed up they are OK.

I had a hot dog for lunch today, with one of the buns. I'll try warming the ciabatta rolls in the same manner and suspect they will be better warmed that way too, in the air fryer oven at 280 for 5 minutes.

So far, for regular sandwich bread, I'm quite happy with the Kroger brand gluten free white bread. It's not really white, being an off-white somewhat pale brownish color, and a lot of holes in the bread, but it tastes like bread and makes very acceptable sandwiches and toast. I have made grilled cheese sandwiches too but haven't tried French toast yet. Maybe soon...

Irene, cold here too. Good luck with your test results, thyroid, and Drs visit on Monday.
Ed, most of the gluten free bread tastes better toasted. Pete usually gets Udi's whole grain. I think he gets Canyon brand sometimes too. Those are also in the freezer section. I like crispy pizza crusts too. :)
    Jo, how's it going?
I did some things around the house yesterday, and went to TJ Maxx to browse around. Picked up some jam, wasabi edamame, and some future gifts. Didn't snow at all.
It's currently 15F, -9C. Cloudy and becoming windy with snow showers this morning (none yet). High 27F,-3F. Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
I have a massage scheduled for this morning and am looking forward to it. Missed the last one because of icy roads.
Wishing all a smooth Thursday. ☕🌥️🌬️❄️❄️❄️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday!

We have -3 (C) cloudy, windy degrees (feels like -11) with an expected sunny high of 2 and 1% chance of precipitation.

Nothing but work on the critical agenda for today.

Dinner last night was from the freezer. Pizza. Kroger Simple Truth Gluten free supreme pizza for me, and Red Baron 4 cheese original crust pizza for Jason. I think that particular brand of gluten free is a keeper.

For breakfast I had a toasted, buttered Schär bagel and some microwave warmed Spam.

    Work beckons.

It is currently 21F with a high of 32F and the wind is picking up again.
Vix-I hope Will feels better soon. I make my own jam. It is super easy and you can adjust the
amount of sugar you put in it.
Irene-good luck with your blood work and Dr. visit.
Ed-sounds like you have found some gluten free options that you like.
Nothing on for today other than grocery shopping. I am sure I will find other things to do.
    Have a pleasant day. :)

Thanks, Jo. Will should be feeling much better by now. He had antibiotics for his strep throat and Tamiflu for his flu. He'll be here after school today.😊 Funny how we always find other things to do.
Ed, sounds like you are finding some tasty gluten free alternatives.
    Hi Irene.
We had snow flurries most of yesterday, but no accumulation. My massage was wonderful, as usual.
It's currently 22F,-6C. A mix of clouds and sun with gusty winds. High 34F, 1C. Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
I'll do some cleaning today, see what else the day brings.

I did some cleaning and laundry yesterday. I'm reading Louise Penny's latest book, "The Grey Wolf".
It's currently 22F, -6C. A mix of clouds and sun early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. High 41F, 5C. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Bright and sunny for now.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!

We have 2 (C) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 12 and 1% chance of precipitation.

Dinner last night was at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The dipping sauce for the fresh spring rolls probably had a small amount of gluten so we'll see how that goes. I can't be 100% certain on my Pad Thai either but if it did, it would, again, be a small amount. I have leftover Pad Thai and will be eating it regardless.

Breakfast was the last Schär bagel and some microwave warmed Spam.

I'll be examining the frozen bread products next for more gluten free options, but am glad to have found the fresh options that have worked out for me.

We are going to a small dinner party this afternoon, with no clue on the availability of vegetarian options for Jason, and much doubt about any gluten free options for me, but I will be bringing some baked beans that are vegan and gluten free so at least we can both have some of that. Hopefully there will be some kind of snacky item or two for pre-meal hors d'oeuvres or, as my dad used to say, horse doovers.

After the party, Jason wants to get to the farmer's market for some napa, to make more kimchi, and to check out the available fruits.

    Good morning;
Currently 33F with a high of 40 and the sun is shining. Right now my backyard looks like an ice
    rink.
Ed-I love Pad Thai. I hope there is some food that you can eat at the party. I am guessing that the
first batch of kimchi turned out well if Jason wants to make more.
    Hi Irene and Vix.

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 6 (C) mostly sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 13 and 0% chance of precipitation.

The party was nice. I was right about there not being much vegetarian food, or gluten free food, as the main dish was lasagna with meat sauce. But there were two salads that were vegan, and my vegan baked beans. One of the salads was also gluten free. Jason had some of each salad and a nice serving of the baked beans. I had some of the cheese and meat appetizers, some of the gluten free salad (baby kale, apples, and walnuts) and, of course, some of my baked beans. Still, much later in the evening found us at our favorite Mexican restaurant with the recently revamped menu. Jason had the taco salad again but I tried the enchiladas molé, selecting cheese enchiladas so Jason could taste the dish. We did verify with the staff that the sauce was vegetarian, as sometimes chicken broth is used.

The molé was delicious, though a bit sweeter than I need to eat very often. I don't know what I'll try next of the revamped menu. Maybe the flautas.

We did get ingredients to make more kimchi, and Jason wants to do that this afternoon or evening.

Meanwhile grocery shopping is on my agenda.

Or contact DHL by going to their website. Scanning the code the scammers use directs you to a fake website where they try to gather personal information and convince you to pay a fee to reschedule delivery of the non-existent package.

Howdy all y'all. It's magnificent Monday!

We have 2 (C) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 18 and 1% chance of precipitation.

    It's back to work day!

We didn't make the kimchi yet, but Jason did try to make hazelnut fudge. He didn't whip it enough so it didn't set up right and it's a sticky, gloopy, DELICIOUS mess that has to be eaten with a spoon, but it will be eaten.

Dinner yesterday was the leftover Thai food from a couple of nights ago. Breakfast for me this morning was a Glutino brand English muffin, from the freezer, toasted, with butter, two sunny side up eggs with crispy edges, one Spam single, and some steel cut oatmeal with a little maple syrup and cream stirred in.

    Back to the races!

We have 4 (C) sunny degrees with an expected toasty, sunny high of 22 and 2% chance of precipitation.

Jason watched a video on YouTube of someone making the kimchi and wrote it down. I'll try to remember to ask him for the link because she also, I think, showed how she did it.

Supper last night was breakfast. Breakfast this morning was an O'Dough original bagel thin, toasted, and an Egg'wich from the freezer.

    Plenty to do at work.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!

We have 5 (C) sunny degrees with an astonishingly warm expected sunny high of 25 and 2% chance of precipitation.

Supper last night was make-do for both of us. Jason came into the kitchen while I was still pondering options and wanted something quick so I stuck some fries in the air fryer while he made scrambled eggs for himself. After pondering, I pulled out a couple of boiled eggs and made an open-faced egg and olive sandwich. We both had eggs, but with completely different preparation. My egg and olive sandwich was great. Jason tasted me egg and olive before I spread it and thought it was OK.

Breakfast this morning, was the last of the fries as there was only a serving left in the bag in the freezer, some Cheerios, and some warmed up Spam.

The dishwasher is running now, and the cats are patiently (for the moment anyway) awaiting their breakfast in about an hour and a quarter. I'm sure that patience will change as the time gets closer.

Ed, thanks for the link to the recipe. I'll look to see if she has the recipe written out.
I am so upset about the current situation and worrying about people losing their jobs for no reason. I have several friends who also have children working for the federal government, and none of us has been able to sleep. Billionaire bullies don't understand that most people actually have to work for a living. And they keep our country running. Sorry, I have to vent somewhere.
It's currently 54F, 12C. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 61F,16C. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. A nice sunny day, maybe getting outside will help.
Wishing all a good day. Keep on truckin. ☕🌞🤞🏻🍷🍷🍷🕊️
