    Good afternoon;
Vix-I couldn't agree more. It is getting to the point that I don't want to listen to the news.
    Hi Ed and Irene.
It is currently 49F and sunny. The snow is slowly melting. Our back and front yard is still covered
    with snow.
    Have a good day! :)

    good morning
Jo, good your snow is melting, less icy roads to deal with. News 😱 Hugs.
I did some laundry yesterday and walked down our town's Main Street, going into all the little shops. I think I needed to see people running their small businesses and going about their normal lives.
It's currently 44F, 7C, drizzling. Cloudy. Periods of light rain this morning. High 62F, 17C. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Warmer than usual.
Wishing all a good day. Hoping for better days ahead. ☕☁️🌨️🍷🍷🍷🤞🏻🕊️

The sun is shining. It's currentl 40F,4C. Sun and clouds mixed. High 52F, 11C. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph.

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!

We have 5 (C) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 20 and 1% chance of precipitation.

Daffodils are blooming on this lovely morning.

I made nachos for dinner yesterday. Breakfast was Cheerios and some sausage patties.

    The dishwasher is running.

    Good evening;
We still have some snow on the lawns, but the weather has been good.
We had a high of 44F with sun and wind.
I got a haircut yesterday. I feel like a new person.
Today was grocery shopping and 4 loads of laundry. We also went to lunch and had
Chinese food. It was a nice treat. We also dropped off our tax papers to the accountant.
All in all a productive day.
    Enjoy your evening. :)

    Hope all is well, Irene.
    Ed, wow! daffodils already!
Jo, that was a productive day! Enjoy your new haircut.
Our house got cleaned and I did some laundry yesterday. I think she extended my acupuncture time yesterday to try to help me de-stress. Had some time to play with Will. He is such a wonderful little boy.💗
It's currently 46F, 8C. Windy with a mix of clouds and sun. Morning high of 53F, 12C with temps falling to near 40F, 4C. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Higher wind gusts possible. There's a red flag warning, haven't seen that before. "A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior." hmm. I wonder if we'll keep getting our weather reports.
I have some chores to do today, and will see what else the day brings.
Wishing all a good weekend. ☕⛅🌬️🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!

We have 10 (C) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 21 and 0% chance of precipitation.

It felt like a long work week, but now it's the weekend!

Dinner last night was gluten free 5 cheese garlic toast for both of us, then regular cut spaghetti for Jason, and gluten free spaghetti for me with gluten free meatballs. Both had spicy arrabbiata sauce.

I had been worried that the bread and/or gluten free spaghetti would be sub-par but the bread was fine and the spaghetti tasted like spaghetti. With the sauce and meatballs I couldn't tell that it was gluten free. It was a very satisfying (but too carb laden) dinner. A nice treat.

Breakfast was some cottage cheese and then some steel cut oatmeal with brown sugar, maple syrup, and a little cream. Orange juice to drink, and tea.

We are planning to look at young cats today, considering adoption of another but a bit apprehensive about how Orion will take it if we do. We're hoping a young female won't get under his skin too much, if we adopt another cat. Dinah is 8 and Orion is 7 so they are the age that we have, historically, tried to get another, for continuity sort of, but somehow that never quite works out the way we had planned. The cat distribution system will endow us somehow.

We have a new baby! We brought Ruby home today. She is seven months old.

This picture was on the way home from Cartersville with her in her new carrier.

They called her a medium hair but I think she's closer to a long hair, grey tabby, polydactl. She has extra toes on her front paws. She is very skittish but has already met the other cats. Dinah, for now, wants nothing to do with her, but Orion is very interested but not, as yet, antagonistic.

We are prepared to separate them and install her in the hall bathroom for a while if necessary, but she is very much a people cat and wants to be around us, if not too interactive with us as yet.

Ed, what a pretty cat! Congratulations on the wonderful addition to your family. I like the name Ruby. 😊 Sounds like you're getting into the swing of gluten free eating.
    Hi Jo and Irene.
We went out to Frederick yesterday. I bought a couple of shirts for my son's birthday coming at the end of the month. It was pretty nice outside in the morning, and got windier and chillier as the day went on.
It's currently 21F, -6C. Sunny. Much cooler. High 36F, 2C. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Still elevated fire weather.
I'm washing the bed linens this morning, and I set the oven to self clean. Will see what else the day brings.
Wishing all a peaceful Sunday. ☕🌞🌬️🍷🤞🏻🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 3 (C) sunny degrees (feels like 0) with an expected sunny high of 13 and 0% chance of precipitation.

We made kimchi last night, and Ruby relaxed on the sofa after a full afternoon of exploring, playing, and gobbling down kitten food like a little piglet. I don't know where she spent the night, but she popped out of the woodwork shortly after I got up. I feel sure she'll be ready for breakfast in a few minutes.

I didn't have much for supper because our lunch was very late and very carby, with lots of French fries, but no bun for my burger. Jason picked up at Cheeseburger Bobby's while I babysat the cats. After that and all the time making kimchi, I had a bowl of Cheerios late in the evening and a Spam Single, followed by a bite of hazelnut fudge and a Bobo's PB&J,

The dishwasher is running now. Here's a better picture of Ruby.

Ed-Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Ruby is a very pretty kitty.
Vix-My son's birthday is also at the end of the month.
It was 16F when I got up this morning. It is now up to 28F and sunny.
We had chicken soup for lunch and shared a pumpernickel bagel. It was good on this chilly day.
Hi Irene-hope you, George and Sammie are going well.
    Enjoy your Sunday! :)

Great pictures, Ed. Glad you can eat the Cheerios. Pete found that even the ones marked gluten free made him queasy. He usually gets the gluten free Chex or Cocoa Pebbles. 😂
Jo, it's amazing how time flies, children are middle aged! (Although I think your children may be younger than mine). Chicken soup is always good on cold days, and I love pumpernickel bagels.
    Hi Irene.
It's currently 24F, -4C. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 42F, 6C. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
We visited our son and family yesterday. That was nice. Maddie is the sweetest little girl. She sometimes walks on her tiptoes. Maybe she'll be a dancer. 🩰
    Will see what today brings.

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday!

We have 3 (C) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 17 and 1% chance of precipitation.

For me the jury is still out on the Cheerios. They are supposedly gluten free, but one wonders about the sourcing for the oats. If the oats they use were processed in a facility that also processes wheat products there could be cross contamination that they don't know about, but one would hope that they are processing their own oats to ensure they are gluten free.

We tasted the new batch of kimchi last night. As we had cut back the salt in the porridge by about half, this batch tasted better. Still salty, but not so salty as the last batch. We're still wondering if there is a better way to rinse the cabbage after its salt soak, though we feel like it was pretty thoroughly rinsed. At any rate, Jason will be enjoying his kimchi and I will eat some occasionally. Maybe it will actually ferment this time, with less salt in the mix.

Dinner was pizza from the freezer. Red Baron four cheese for Jason and Kroger gluten free supreme pizza for me.

It was below freezing when I got up so breakfast was some muesli, prepared hot. It was OK but I think I really prefer oatmeal for a hot cereal rather than muesli. I may have some cold tomorrow, with milk. Of course grits are nice too for a hot morning starch.

Ruby has been very active this morning.

    Scam of the Week

    Your Password Is Their Prize

In this week’s scam, cybercriminals are trying to steal your X (formerly Twitter) login information.

They send you an email claiming that someone tried to log into your account from a new device, and you must log into X immediately to verify your account. In another version of this scam, you might receive a different email claiming your account violated copyright laws and that you must submit an appeal.

Both of these emails direct you to click a link to verify your account, which takes you to what appears to be an X login or password reset page.

But these pages are actually fake and controlled by cybercriminals trying to trick you into entering your user credentials. If you enter your login information, they will steal it. Then, they can access your account and use it to post links to crypto or financial scams. The cybercriminals will steal your login details and use your account to scam other X users!

Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to a phishing scam:

If possible, enable two-factor authentication, or 2FA, for your online accounts. 2FA is more secure because it requires two forms of identification to log in to your account.

Always hover over links in emails to see if they’re legitimate. If you must reset your password, always navigate to the official X website or mobile app.

Be suspicious of any urgent requests. Cybercriminals often pressure you to act fast to trick you into falling for their scams.

    The KnowBe4 Security Team

Joke's on them. I don't have an X account. Of course this could also be used on other types of accounts.

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

We have 8 (C) partly cloudy degrees (feels like 6) with an expected cloudy high of 20 and 4% chance of precipitation.

I'll run the dishwasher after I feed the cats. Other than that, nothing critical on the home front.

Dinner was a turkey and cheese sandwich made on a Schär sandwich roll that I had heated up in the air fryer/convection oven for a few minutes. It was delicious with a few potato chips on the side.

Breakfast was buttery corn grits with salt and pepper, one egg, and one sandwich size sausage patty.

    Work beckons!

Ed, Ruby is such a pretty cat!
Yesterday I did some laundry, cleaned the oven, did some reading, brought my eliptical back up to 20 minutes, a pretty quiet day. Avoiding doom scrolling as much as I can.
    It's currently 39F, 4C. Cloudy. High near 60F, 16C. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
Stained glass is cancelled for today, but I'll be going in later for clay crafting.
Hope you all get to enjoy the nice weather while it lasts. Our birds are flitting around, seeming very happy. ☕🌞⛅👩🏻‍🎨🍷🤞🏻🕊️

    Good morning

I went to clay crafters yesterday, loaded up the kiln for a glaze fire, put together a couple of small bowls.

It's currently 55F,13C. Windy with rain early...then remaining cloudy with thundershowers for the afternoon. A few storms may be severe. High 59F, 15C. Winds SSE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%.s.

I'll be going to the library later, and I need to stop to pick up a prescription.

This new rich text is skipping lines, oh, well.

Wishing all a good day. ☕🌨️🌬️🤞🏻🍷🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!

We have 11 (C) partly cloudy degrees (feels like 9) with an expected partly cloudy high of 15 and 31% chance of afternoon showers.

The new rich text is also changing "( C )" (without the spaces) to ©. I was able to edit that back, after saving but I need to figure out how to turn such conversion off.

Vix, I've noticed that our Kroger has some vegan kimchi in jars for about $6.00, in the area of the cold cuts. That might be a way for you to try kimchi and see if you want to make a bigger, fresh batch.

Dinner yesterday was just scrambled eggs and tater rounds. I had some sliced turkey on the side while Jason had the bulk of the eggs.

Breakfast this morning was eggs, a small slice of Spam, some muesli (mixed with yogurt and milk) and one slice of this bread, lightly toasted, with butter. It was on quick sale so I thought I'd give it a try. It's heavy, and a bit crumbly, but if handled carefully doesn't fall apart. I tried a slice with lunch yesterday, plain, and thought it was pretty good, but it's much nicer lightly toasted with butter!

The dishwasher will be running soon.

For dinner last night I made pizza using the Schär gluten free pizza crusts. For Jason I made a 6 cheese pizza and for me, the same cheeses and some crumbles of spicy hot breakfast sausage. We both liked the pizza and I have put the crusts on the shopping list for my next grocery trip so I'll have more when I want them.

For breakfast I had leftover sausage pizza.

Ed, we don't have Kroger here. I've noticed kimchi in jars in a couple of stores, but it looked kind of mushy and not appetizing. I'm not very motivated at the moment to do much of anything. Got to get out of this funk. Jo and Irene, I hope all is well.

Mostly cloudy with gusty winds developing this afternoon. High 44F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph. It was windy and raining last night, still windy this a.m. I have a massage appt this morning and will see what else the day brings. Wishing all a good day. ☕ ⛅🌬️🤞🏻🍷🕊️

Well, apparently I don't have permission to quote another person's post in this new rich text editor? OK.

Well, Jo, the other cats are still unsure about Ruby. She wants to interact with them and play with them and there is less hissing and fussing than there was at first. Ruby and Orion are actually playing a bit, but he usually remembers pretty quickly that he isn't sure of her and runs off. She loves to chase him and is fascinated by his long, fluffy tail. Dinah still doesn't really want to have anything to do with Ruby and Ruby has learned not to push that too much, though there are still moments of hissing standoffs.

It seems to be progressing quite well. Ruby seems to have chosen Jason as her special person, which is what we were hoping for, but she has quickly figured out that I am "kitten food giver person" and is cultivating a friendly relationship with me as well. She'll come and briefly visit with me in my office space and sometimes even curl up next to me on the sofa for a while in the evening. And she'll cry at me if her food bowl looks too empty, demanding more kibble.

Ruby gave us a great view of her polydactyl front paws.

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!

We have 2 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 19 and 1% chance of precipitation.

Friday sure came fast this week, but I've had lots of analysis to do on the work front.

This morning all three felines were, for a long moment, in close proximity with no hissing, batting, or growling! That was pleasant. I doubt that will be the case all day, but it's another step in the right direction. Ruby starts her daily playtime a bit before I get up, as I can hear her rattling around and she comes and goes from the bed, bouncing along as only a kitten can. All the same, I am NOT getting up before my alarm goes off if I can help it. I don't want to let them think that they can force me up early!

Dinner was spaghetti for Jason, gluten free mac and cheese for me, and gluten free 5 cheese garlic toast for both.

My breakfast was a packet of Goodie Girl gluten free cinnamon brown sugar breakfast biscuits, some warmed Spam, and a small bottle of orange juice. The breakfast biscuits are very nice, and quite filling.

Ed, sounds like Ruby is settling in, that's nice. Work is keeping you busy, and you're trying a whole lot of the gluten free foods! Jo, I remember when you fence blew down. I'm sure it'll be nice to get it fixed. Irene, hope all is well.

It's currently 34F, 1C. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 52F, 11C. Winds W at 15 to 25 mph. Higher wind gusts possible. It's mostly sunny this morning, a little windier than usual.

No special plans for today. Our daughter and her children will be here this weekend. That'll keep us busy. Wishing all an easy Friday. ☕🌞⛅🌬️🍷🤞🏻🕊️

Not sure what today will bring. Wishing all a good weekend. ☕⛅🌬️🍷🤞🏻🕊️

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!

We have 18 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 21 and 2% chance of precipitation.

Jason is at the Atlanta orchid show this morning, clerking for the judging. I'm at home cat herding. Ruby was next to me in the bed when I got up around 8:30. I've learned that I have to put her food down first or she makes a pest of herself and gets in the way while I'm trying to put food down for the others. Sometimes she's pesky anyway, wanting to see what they have and whether it's better than what she has. If I can get her to stick her head in and open her bowl, and get down to eating, then feeding the others is easier.

I have a few plants to water today, and may get some laundry going. We'll see. I might go back to bed now that the felines are fed and I have the dishwasher running.

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 11 (Celsius) mostly sunny degrees with an expected cloudy, rainy high of 13 and 81% chance of precipitation. Regardless, I need to get my grocery shopping done. It's a fairly short list so shouldn't take too long.

I'm skipping the orchid show this year. It's still going on today but today is grocery day and I don't think I'll have the energy for both.

What I really want to do is go back to bed and reclaim that missing hour of sleep.

Ruby and Orion were playing together last night, chasing each other around the house. That was nice to see. They still have their moments where he's uncertain about her but the progress continues. Dinah is a bit slower to accept but I never actually heard her growling at Ruby yesterday, or much hissing. Dinah and Orion are not getting along too well but that's another story.

Lunch yesterday was at a nearby Vietnamese restaurant. Very nearby. It was our first experiment at leaving the three felines alone, after a week of one of us always being home to keep an eye on them. As such, we didn't want to go far or be out very long. We both had fresh spring rolls, and then I had a rice vermicelli bowl and Jason had a fried rice dish.

For supper I had a can of Amy's gluten free chicken and pasta soup, with some gluten free "table crackers" from Schär that are clearly meant to be like saltines. It was good enough, though the soup was not, in my opinion, one of the best of product from Amy's. The chicken was a bit sparse, and looked like mechanically separated, reformed, compressed cubes and the vegetables were seriously overcooked. But it tasted good enough. I think I won't be buying that one again. I can make my own, very good chicken soup, and I have a can of Progresso gluten free chicken soup in the cupboard to try as well.

Breakfast was some European style muesli, prepared hot, with a little brown sugar and maple syrup, and a drizzle of cream to liven it up a bit, as it's pretty bland otherwise.

My tea mug is empty so back to the kitchen!
