    Good morning

Ed, Pete usually buys the Udi's bread, it comes frozen. O'Doughs makes good small skinny bagels. Nice that pizza hut makes a good gluten free pizza. We have a couple of places in town.

I repotted some plants yesterday. It was nice getting out, and meeting our daughter's new friend. Had a few laughs. The new book I'm reading is definitely lighter, so that's good. It's currently 54F, 12C. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High near 70F, 21C. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph. I need to do some laundry today, pay some bills, etc. Looks like it'll be a nice day so will probably go out somewhere. Wishing all a peaceful Sunday. πŸŒžβ˜•πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 20 (Celsius) cloudy degrees with an expected mostly cloudy high of 25 and 51% chance of PM thunderstorms.

Supper last night was Frito nachos, using Frito Scoops as the base, topped with my homemade refried black beans, homemade white cheese dip/sauce with jalapeΓ±os, and some good tomata salsa from a jar, that we get at Lidl.

It was nice after I spent the whole afternoon binging the first season of Agatha Raisin, on Prime. Season one is going away in a few days so I needed to binge it if I wanted to watch all of it.

Breakfast was a bowl of Crispix cereal, not advertised or certified as gluten free but I didn't see any gluten products in the ingredient list. Probably manufactured in a facility that also processes wheat products so could be some cross contamination. Along with that I had some Sprouts brand gluten free chicken tenders and a small bottle of orange juice.

Grocery shopping is on the agenda for today. And I need to get some kitten kibble for Ruby, from PetSmart.

    Good morning;

It is currently 47F with a high of 68F and sunny, finally. So far this weekend has not been good weather wise. I will be glad to see the sun and get outside. Ed-I watch Agatha Raisin and have also read some of the books. I like British humor better than American. Vix-I have been reading cozy mysteries by Ellery Adams. I read all the ones I could get at the library and now am reading the rest on libby on my laptop. Hi Irene-doing anything fun this weekend? We are going to fire up the grill and cook portobello mushroom pizza's. Sam has been out all night. He hasn't gone out for the last 3 days, except for a quick potty break, because of the rain. Enjoy your day!

    good morning

We haven't watched Agatha Raisin. Maybe we'll check it out. Ed, I looked and Pete's been buying Canyon Bakehouse brand bread lately. Jo, yesterday was nice here, a little cool but sunny. I don't think I've read Ellery Adams, I'll have to put them on my list. Portobello mushroom pizzas sound delicious. Irene, enjoy your day.

It's currently 58F, 14C, mostly sunny for the moment with puffy clouds. Rain showers this morning with some sunshine during the afternoon hours. High 72F, 22C. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 40%. We have no special plans for the day. I didn't sleep well, so it'll be good to just relax. Wishing all a nice Memorial Day, always good to have an extra day off work! β˜•πŸŒžπŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ’

Howdy all y'all. It's magnificent Monday!

Remember all those who gave their lives for our freedom.

We have 21 (Celsius) cloudy degrees with an expected mostly cloudy high of 25 and 47% chance of PM thundershowers.

Regardless we have a pool party scheduled for Memorial Day. Beans are baking in the oven now.

Vix, the loaf I'm currently eating is Canyon Bakehouse white bread. It's quite nice. Next up is a loaf of Katz white bread that is currently residing in the freezer. It was part of my surprise box subscription for May. I also have a nice Katz apple pie in the freezer. I'm not sure how long I'll keep the surprise box subscription going. It's a bit heavy on sweets, of course, but I'm trying to cut back on that. Still, even being heavy on sweets, it seems a decently good deal for the amount of gluten free food it provides.

Supper last night was cheesy twice baked potatoes. Maybe thrice baked, as I did bake them again to warm them up and they certainly looked like they had already been twice baked.

Breakfast was Greek yogurt with grain free maple granola, with lots of nuts and seeds. Sausage patties on the side and orange juice to drink.

I need to feed the cats shortly and get the dishwasher running.

    good morning

We watched the first episode of Agatha Raisin last night. Pretty good! Thanks. 😊 Ed, hope the pool party was fun. Irene, I hope George's foot heals up quickly, and he feels better soon. Jo, I like British humor too.

It's currently 54F, 12C. Considerable cloudiness. Occasional rain showers this afternoon. High 69F,21C. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%. Yesterday I checked out a local park I haven't been to. There was a short paved path around a small pond, and I found a longer dirt path, but wasn't wearing the right shoes, so I'll check that out another day. Kind of dreary looking outside this morning. I'm off to craft day. Will try to get there early today. Wishing all a fine Tuesday. β˜•πŸŒ₯οΈπŸŒ‚πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

We have 16 (Celsius) cloudy degrees with an expected cloudy high of 19 and 78% chance of rain.

The pool party yesterday opened the season with a big splash. The rain held off and it ended up being a really nice afternoon. A bit muggy, but not too hot so it was bearable.

At least 71 people showed up for the event and there was more food than you could shake a stick at. Most of it got eaten too, though there were a few leftovers. I had some roasted chicken wings, too many baked Lay's potato chips, some wonderful sausage and cheese dip that one friend often brings, with tortilla chips to go with it, and some fruit. Later I had a cheeseburger and a couple of blackened hot dogs, without buns for any of them since I had not brought my own.

For the first time ever, I participated at a pool party without eating anything from the dessert table, aside from a tiny bit of frosting that was in an unexpected place on a package of cupcakes that I was opening. That bit of blue frosting was quite nice but I really didn't have a lot of temptation to eat the desserts, other than a coconut cream pie that was kind of whispering to me, but I knew there was gluten in the crust and in the filling so no tasting for me!

After the party Jason and I stopped at a Korean grocery for a few items and had a late supper at IHOP. I had a fairly light meal that was just eggs scrambled with bacon and pepperjack, with hash browns. Water to drink.

Breakfast this morning was hot buckwheat groats with coconut sugar and cinnamon. Bacon slices on the side and pineapple juice to drink.

Back to work after a lovely holiday.

    Good afternoon;

It is currently 76F and sunny. After work I puttered in the yard for a bit, dust mopped the floors and vacuum the living room rug. Ed-good job staying away from the desserts. I haven't had twice baked potatoes in a long time. Irene-I hope George's foot gets better soon. Vix-Glad you liked Agatha Raisin. Another show you might like is the British version of Ghosts. It is so much better than the American version. Enjoy your evening.πŸ˜€

    Scam of the Week

    The Social Security Swindle

In this week's scam, you receive an email that appears to be from the United States (US) Social Security Administration (SSA), a retirement program run by the US government. The email says your SSA financial statement is now available. It even has an official SSA logo and provides instructions for viewing your statement by downloading an attachment.

However, the email isn’t actually from the SSA. Downloading the attachment installs software that lets cybercriminals access your computer. This software allows them to take full control of your device and steal your personal information, banking details, and private files. They can then use this information to steal your identity and commit financial fraud!

Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to a phishing scam:

Never download attachments from unexpected emails. Remember that real government agencies typically communicate sensitive information through paper mail, not email.

Check the sender's email address carefully. Scammers often use sender addresses that look similar to official ones but have small differences.

While this scam targets users in the US, remember that cybercriminals can use similar tricks worldwide. Always stop and think before you click!

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!

We have 15 (Celsius) cloudy degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 27 and 42% chance of PM showers. But I could swear I heard a raindrop or two hitting the stove vent. I guess it could be dew dripping from the trees.

Dinner last night was a chicken sausage link (bun sized) with ketchup on a SchΓ€r brand hot dog roll, gluten free of course. Potato salad on the side. It's hard to find potato salad at the grocery that doesn't contain wheat, oddly enough, but Kroger and Reeser make a Deviled Egg flavor that doesn't. I prefer the Kroger brand as it has sweet pickle relish in it and the Reeser's doesn't. Dessert was Katz gluten free apple pie, warmed up.

Breakfast was Quaker gluten free instant oatmeal. The only flavor I can find that is certified gluten free is Maple & Brown Sugar flavor. Bacon on the side and orange juice to drink.

    Well, work beckons.

Ed, the pool party sounds like fun. Nice that you have such a large group of friends. That SSA scam sounds tricky. Some financial institutions do send emails that your statement is ready. Jo, I watched the British version of Ghosts before I knew there was an American version. Of course, I like the British version better! πŸ˜‚ Irene, back to rain here.

I put some in things in for a glaze fire yesterday in clay and built a few small plates to go under my plant pots. I finished cutting out my new stained glass project. It's currently 49F, 9C. It's been raining since last night. High 58F, 14C. Winds E at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall possibly over one inch. Flooding possible in poor drainage areas. I'm not sleeping well again. I have PT this afternoon. Will keep busy puttering today. Wishing all a happy πŸͺday. β˜•πŸŒ§οΈβ˜”πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ

They have just reached over the edge of the window in my morning room, so pretty, and our 2nd dogwood is blooming out back. Wishing all a pleasant Thursday. β˜•β˜οΈπŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈπŸŒΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday!

We have 20 (Celsius) rainy degrees with an expected cloudy high of 22 and 93% chance of precipitation.

I'm not surprised to be part of that 93%.

Supper last night was pizza from the freezer. We both had cheese pizza but mine was Milton's gluten free and Jason's was Red Baron classic crust.

Breakfast was hominy grits with cheese and bacon pieces added, pineapple juice to drink.

Nothing critical on the agenda but work. And it's calling.

Ed, guess work is keeping you pretty busy. Jo, peonies smell so good! I love them, except for all the ants they attract. Hi Irene.

It's currently 63F, 17C, completely overcast. Partly cloudy early followed by scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Gusty winds and small hail are possible. High 77F, 25C. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 40%. Nothing special for today, routine, and maybe I'll foil my glass project, do some decluttering. Wishing all an easy Friday. β˜•β˜οΈπŸŒ‚πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈπŸŒΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!

We have 19 (Celsius) cloudy degrees with an expected cloudy high of 24 and heavy thunderstorms. Chance of thunderstorms is 97%.

Sounds like a great day to stay inside and that's fine with me.

Supper last night was the last of the pizza from the freezer, with a few chicken tenders. The Applegate gluten free tenders are the best I have found. They use real (not mechanically separated) chicken and have a great texture and taste. The other brands that I have found are clearly made from re-formed chicken. They taste fine and the texture is not horrible, but they don't seem as "real" but when they are all I can find, I guess I'll eat them.

Breakfast was buttered yellow corn grits with the last of the Applegate chicken tenders. I have a bag of another brand in the freezer, and will be opening that the next time I want chicken tenders.

    Work beckons.

Ed, we generally have less processed foods, but the Applegate chicken tenders sound good, Jo, the sun just started peeking through here. Have fun at lunch. It's so nice that you and your daughter do so much together. 😊 Irene, I hope George is feeling better.

It's currently 55F, 13C. Partly cloudy skies this morning will give way to occasional showers during the afternoon. Thunder possible. High 68F, 20C. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 40%. We went to Frederick yesterday and walked the opposite direction along the creek than we usually do. It was nice, found a few pubs, lots of pretty flowers, and some community art work. I foiled my stained glass project so that I can solder it in class on Tuesday. We'll probably go to our grandson's soccer game later this morning if it's not cancelled. Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying sunny Saturday!

We have 20 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 27 and 13% chance of precipitation.

We are planning to attend a small house party this afternoon with friends. I have a small dish of baked beans and a small dish of chili beans and whole kernel corn going in the oven and will bring some Biscoff cookies that I bought before I started avoiding gluten. That will be a good way to get rid of the cookies. Jason isn't eating much in the way of cookies right now as he is seriously trying to lose weight.

Dinner last night was baked eggs in cheesy mashed potato cups/mounds. It came out OK but the tops of the eggs were a bit overdone. I'll try again but at a lower temperature perhaps. Regardless, they tasted great.

Breakfast this morning was Purdue gluten free chicken tenders and some gluten free maple brown sugar oatmeal with added cinnamon, coconut cashew granola, and cream. Pineapple juice to drink.

Tea mug is empty. Time for coffee!

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!

We have 22 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected mostly cloudy high of 27 and 1% chance of precipitation.

My bean dishes were a hit at the party. We played party games and got silly and laughed a lot. The late lunch was lasagna for the main dish but the hosts also provided an Amy's gluten free rice noodle dish for me, and an Amy's vegetarian pasta bake for Jason that he really didn't want but he ate it anyway since they had prepared it. There was also a plain, torn Romaine salad and some simple Italian vinaigrette dressing. I had a little of the salad, some of each of my bean dishes, and my gluten free noodle dish. There was no temptation (OK, some temptation) to eat the lemon pound cake that someone brought. I didn't eat any of the cookies I brough either, of course, and left the remainder with the hosts. I have one more package of cookies that I plan to bring to the next pool party

For supper last night I assembled some cheese pizzas using the SchΓ€r gluten free pizza crusts I had in the cupboard, some jarred pizza sauce, and loads of full, low moisture Mozzarella cheese. The instructions said to bake them in a pan but I just baked them on the oven rack and they came out great, with nice, crispy crusts.

While there is some pizza left, my breakfast was a bologna and cheese sandwich with some Ruffles. I wanted to finish off the bologna that I bought in a week moment. I love bologna but only buy it rarely, for a special treat. It will be a while before I buy it again.

Shopping and the Korean spa on the agenda today.

    Late afternoon update:

When we got to the spa they said the cold tub and steam room were both broken so we decided to do other things since we were out. Jason usually spends most of his time in the cold tub.

We went to the big international farmer's market near us and then from there to a new (to us) Indian restaurant for a late lunch. The food was delicious and we have leftovers for tomorrow. Then we went to a nursery where I selected a small black ZZ plant and Jason selected a small pot marked "Pixie Foliage" but he knew it was actually baby pony tail palms, and then a medium sized large leaf jade type of plant. When we got home I put all the groceries and leftovers away and Jason separated the tiny pony tail palms and ended up with 7 baby plants. Pony tail palms are one of his favorite plants so he's excited to have new babies that will stay small for many, many years. If left clustered, one plant would have pretty much taken over and the others would have died until there was only the one left.

Then we each ate one red dwarf banana as we had happened to see some at the market that were ripe and ready to eat. There are some left, and a few dwarf yellow bananas as well. We did buy a few vegetables but mostly noodles on this trip.

While we were eating our late lunch a friend who we had seen going into the spa texted Jason that the cold tub was actually working but the steam room was not, so I guess the receptionist had not been up to date on that. But by then we had groceries that didn't need to sit in the car for the additional couple of hours we'd have been there so we just figured we'd go another time.

Jo, I hope your daughter is feeling better, migraines are tough. I've gained back all the weight I lost in 2021 plus a few pounds. It's very stubborn and doesn't want to go away! πŸ˜’ Ed, your parties sound like fun, and such a variety of food you get, that's so good. I had to look up those plants because I'm not familiar with them, nice. πŸͺ΄ Irene, hope all is well.

It's currently 48F, 9C. Sunny. High near 75F, 24C. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. We ended up going to DC yesterday with our daughter and 2 grandchildren. Drove to the metro station and took the train to the Smithsonian. We walked all day, went to the Washington Monument (tickets were sold out, so didn't go in), the WWII monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. That was a lot with the little ones, so we didn't get to any of the museums this time. The weather was great. Our grandson loves history and really wanted to see all that! I have a PT appt this morning. That'll be good. I'm getting some new exercisies, working on my posture. Wishing all a bright shiny new week. β˜•πŸŒžπŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈπŸŒŸ

Ed, I hope Ruby's ok. Hi Jo and Irene.

It's currently 54F, extremely hazy, the sun looks orangey pink. Sunny. Hazy. High 82F. Winds light and variable. I cleaned my washer yesterday. Took a Lysol wipe to the gasket (yuck!) and ran bleach through the cleaning cycle and did an extra rinse. I pulled something in my back when I went to get the bleach from under the utility sink in the mudroom. Yikes! πŸ˜‚ My first thought was of those comedy sketches where someone does that and can't get up. I took a muscle relaxer last night. Glad I've got pain pills too. Off to craft day today. I'll probably need help to empty the kiln. Wishing all a pleasant Tuesday. β˜•πŸŒžπŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŽ¨πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ•ŠοΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

We have 19 (Celsius) fair, sunny degrees with an expected mostly sunny high of 30 and 2% chance of precipitation.

Hope your back feels better quickly, Vix!

Other than the digestive issues, Ruby seems OK, but the doctor gave us an antibiotic. She does have a mild yeast infection in her ears, and we have drops for that.

We've also changed her food on the theory that she may have been having a bad reaction to something in the food.

Needless to say, I'm monitoring her eating (good appetite), drinking (to the extent that I can monitor that), and checking the litter boxes, also literally snooping when she's pooping (to the extent that I can, as I can't just follow her around). If I know she's in a litter box, I'll snoop.

My dinner was the last of the Indian leftovers. Breakfast was some chicken tenders and some Greek yogurt with grain free raspberry and seed granola. Pineapple juice to drink.

    Work beckons, as usual.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

    Good afternoon;

Vix-I hope your back feels better soon. Ed-I am glad Ruby is ok. I made twice baked potatoes last night for dinner accompanied by saute spinach and steak cooked on the grill. I picked a tick off of Sam this morning. As he is an outdoor cat, I check him every time he comes in the house. I also brush him every day. It is currently 76F and sunny. There is a slight breeze. Today was trash and recycle day, so after pick up I cleaned the barrels. I also made apricot jam yesterday. Irene-hope you are doing well. Have a good afternoon.πŸ˜€
