Good afternoon;
Ed-It sounds like Ruby is fitting in just fine with the other kitties. Vix- It is so nice that you grandchildren live nearby. Irene-it is raining here also. Good day to stay in the read. It is currently 48F and rainy. Sam had a kitty friend that came to visit this morning. They chased each other around the yard for a bit. It looks to be a kitten. Enjoy your day and stay dry.π

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday!
We have 19 (Celsius) degrees with a thunderstorm. The expected cloudy, rainy high is 20 and there is 97% chance of rain.
I got rained on while shopping yesterday, but not heavily. The heavier rain and occasional lightly thundery storms politely waited until I was home and all the groceries had been brought in. And it's been raining pretty much ever since, with no end in sight today. Some of the thunder while I was making breakfast was impressive.
Supper last night was nachos. I prepared refried beans, a bit on the saucy side and made white cheese dip with jalapeΓ±os. The beans and sauce were drizzled over plates of tortilla chips, and Jason had hot salsa on his as well, from a jar. Mine were spicy enough without the salsa.
Breakfast was Quaker gluten free maple brown sugar oatmeal, and a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast bowl. It was tasty enough.
I must do laundry today. Fortunately, this can be done alongside work.

Ed, hope all the kits are doing well. I'm reading a kind of funny book at the moment, "Starter Villain" by John Scalzi. It's got a great cover, a portrait of a cat in a suit and tie. The cats in the book are very intelligent and can type. π Have you been diagnosed with celiac? Sounds like you might be there. Sorry. After our last dinner out, Pete's reluctant to go out for a while, especially if they don't have a printed gluten free menu. Jo and Irene, hope all is well.
It's currently 40F, 4C, raining. Rain diminishing to a few showers this afternoon. High around 45F,7C. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. It was a bit of a gloomy day yesterday, I went to the Columbia Mall with my daughter and the kids. I forgot how huge that mall is! It was fun. I need to foil my stained glass today, haven't gotten around to that yet, nothing else on the agenda, will see what the day brings. Wishing all a bright, shiny new week. π§οΈβπππ€π»ποΈ

Good morning;
It is currently 37F and raining. We have a mason coming this afternoon to give us an estimate on replacing our patio and the apron in front of the garage. The apron has cracked over the years and the patio is full of craters.
I hate listening to the stock market news lately. It makes me really anxious about my finances.
Enjoy your day and stay dry.π

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!
We have 5 (Celsius) sunny degrees (feels like 3) with an expected sunny high of 17 and 2% chance of precipitation.
I have a load of laundry to fold, and another load to wash. Some of that might happen today.
Jason had square dancing class last night. Supper for me was meatballs and garlic toast. I made Jason a cheese omelet and roasted red skin potatoes with sea salt and cracked black pepper when he got home.
Well, back to work!

Jo, I hope you get a good estimate for your patio and garage apron. I hate most news now. So much is messed up, like angry toddlers took over. My stress levels are out the roof. Irene and Ed, hope all is well.
It's currently 32F, 0C. A mix of clouds and sun with gusty winds. High around 45F, 7C. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph. Right now, sunny, but very windy out. I have craft day today. Wishing all a good day, and hoping for better days ahead. βπ©π»βπ¨β π¬οΈππ€π»ποΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday!
We have 4 (Celsius) sunny degrees (feels like 2) with an expected sunny high of 20 and 1% chance of precipitation.
We had our Spring/Summer AC maintenance yesterday but the heater is what's running right now, as it's cold out there. For supper last night I prepared cheesy potatoes au gratin and sweet and spicy baked beans. There are some beans left that I may eat for lunch along with my leftover mac and cheese from yesterday's lunch.
Breakfast this morning was a bacon, egg, cheese bowl and some maple brown sugar oatmeal. Orange juice and tea for beverages.
There is still laundry to fold, and plenty more to wash.

Ed, good that you got your maintenance taken care of. Jo, that is crazy weather, all in one day! Good luck with the mason today. Irene, hope all is well.
It's currently 35F,2C, we had freezing overnight and a frosty morning. That certainly confused our flowers. Abundant sunshine. High 54F, 12C. Winds light and variable. I finished up another butterfly in stained glass yesterday, and started a small fox. Started a unicorn and scary gnome in clay on request from my grandchildren. So far, they are almost recognizable as such πππ a four legged critter with a horn on its head, and a cone with a pointy nose! πππ I'm not good at sculpting! Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday!
We have 7 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 22 and 19% chance of precipitation.
The heater is running. But so is the dishwasher!
Dinner last night, for me, was a Katz gluten free vegetable potpie. It was pretty decent tasting. Small chickpeas were the main protein in this. I have a Katz gluten free broccoli and mushroom potpie in the freezer for another meal. I'm hoping to find a Blake's gluten free chicken potpie at the grocery, but haven't seen them as yet. I'll do a more comprehensive browsing on my next shopping trip. Only Ingle's seems to separate the frozen Gluten Free options in the frozen foods, and most stores don't separate them at all, in any areas, so they can be difficult to find until I learn where some favorites are. Once I learn, they'll no doubt rearrange everything, and I'll have to start all over.
Jason made himself some ramen noodles. I helped by air frying his tofu, after he prepared it by dredging in cornstarch. It came out quite nicely. And he has half the box (already air fried now) for another dish.
My breakfast was a small bottle of orange juice, 4 slices of bacon, two slices of American cheese, and a Katz gluten free toaster pastry, apple crisp flavor. It was a nice breakfast.
Still laundry to fold and more to wash.

Jo, sounds like Sam made himself comfortable. π I hope you had a relaxing day yesterday. Ed, I found that most stores have a gluten free shelf, but then also scatter things throughout the rest of the store, like gluten free crackers or cookies, frozen foods are sometimes in their own space, and sometimes with like regular products. We have to use our hunter instincts! π Irene, how much longer on the monitor?
It's currently 42F,6C, drizzly. Light rain early...then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. High 52F,11C. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%. I went shopping yesterday and bought some birthday presents for my daughter-in-law. I didn't get around to making the butternut squash soup, so I will do that today. I did some laundry, but may have to do some more today. Will see what else the day brings. Wishing all a pleasant Thursday. βπ§οΈππ¦π€π»ποΈ π§πͺ

Good morning;
We woke up to snow this morning. There is just a dusting and will turn to rain later. It is supposed to rain most of the weekend. Today will be changing the bedding, laundry, grocery shopping and a meeting with our life insurance agent to go over our policies. There is always something to do. Enjoy your day!π

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday!
We have 9 (Celsius) mostly sunny degrees with an expected partly cloudy high of 18 and 18% chance of precipitation.
Jo, I think it's time for the snow to be over!
We had some noisy thunderstorms pass through while preparing and eating supper, which was chili with shredded cheese and corn chip scoops. Dessert was Katz gluten free apple crisp flavor toaster pastries. Jason feels guilty eating my "special" (read that expensive) gluten free baked goods but I wanted to share that flavor with him. To be fair, we do have some "ordinary" frosted toaster pastries that are special in their own way, having no gelatin in the ingredient list. They are also more expensive than Pop Tarts, but taste great.
Breakfast this morning was a double serving of Bob's Red Mill gluten free muesli, prepared hot, with a dash of salt (it needs it), some cinnamon, a good drizzle of honey, and a drizzle of heavy cream at the end. To go with it I had 4 slices of bacon and a small bottle of orange juice.
Still laundry to fold and more to wash.

Jo, wow, still snow! Sounds like a busy day. Good luck going over the policies. Ed, I don't worry too much about the extra expense of gluten free foods or some other specialty items we like, it's still less than restaurants. Irene, hope all is well.
It's currently 42F, 6C. Rain showers early will evolve into a more steady rain for the afternoon. High 48F. 9C. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch. I have an acupuncture appt this morning and will stop by the library to pick up a book. I have another Scalzi waiting for me. I really enjoyed "Starter Villain". Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday!
We have 7 (Celsius) sunny degrees (feels like 4) with an expected sunny high of 17 and 2% chance of precipitation. I saw someone out walking a dog. The man was wearing his hooded jacket with the hood tightly around his head.
The laundry that was waiting to be folded got folded yesterday, with Dinah's help. Ruby was interested, but did not want to help.
Supper last night was salad. Breakfast this morning was some gluten free whole grain artisan bread, toasted, spread with a bit of butter, two slices of American cheese, and 4 slices of bacon. Orange juice and hot black tea for beverages.
We are going to a Korean spa tomorrow, so groceries today! Nothing else critical on the agenda other than watering plants.

Yesterday I went out in search of a birthday card for our daughter-in=law. It's hard to find just the right card sometimes. I didn't, but I found one that's close. I don't know what else I did yesterday, time excapes me. I changed the bed linens this morning and put them all in the wash. It looks like a good day to go out.
It's currently 47F, 8C, sunny and a bit breezy. Forecast says cloudy skies early(?), followed by partial clearing. High 62F, 17C. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Wishing all a peaceful Sunday. πβ βπ€π»ποΈ

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday!
We have 12 (Celsius) sunny degrees with an expected sunny high of 22 and 1% chance of precipitation.
We're planning a spa day today. Hope it's good!
I might try to persuade Jason to stop at a grocery so I can pick up another loaf of gluten free bread, as I didn't get that while grocery shopping yesterday. I hadn't realized how little I had left, so despite going to 4 grocery stores yesterday, I'm low on sandwich bread. I have some rolls in the freezer that can be used for sandwiches in a pinch, though. I'm ready to try another brand on the bread anyway. The Schar whole grain is really pretty good (what I'm working on now) but we'll see what looks good for the next loaf.
Dinner last night was a peppered turkey and American cheese sandwich (using two slices of bread) and some chips. Jason went to a square-dancing event and had scrambled eggs and roasted potatoes when he got home. Dessert was Katz gluten free apple pie. The pie was very good, and now I want to find the cherry and blueberry pies! I may have to order those from Katz directly but hope to be able to find them locally.
There's even less bread left after I had two slices for breakfast, buttered, along with some more of the peppered turkey, two slices of American cheese (as a disassembled European style sandwich), and the usual juice and tea to drink. I had intended to have a breakfast ribeye steak, with eggs, and a warmed up roll from the freezer, but was up late and slept in until nearly 9:00, when Orion insisted I get up. As it was so late, and we have the spa planned for this afternoon, I decided on a cold breakfast that I could toss together quickly.
Absolutely nothing critical today. Hoping the spa can ease some of my back and joint pain, at least temporarily. I may get a massage while there, but will decide when I see the price. I do get a senior discount on entry (only $20 to get in for me, $30 for Jason) but I'm not sure at what age "senior" kicks in so he may get the discount too, though I suspect not as he's only 50. At 65 I'm pretty sure I get the discount. I just looked it up and a massage would be $80 for me, so I'll ponder that.

Evening update:
We went to the spa/sauna, but from what I could gather, the only massage they offered at this one came with a brutal exfoliating cleansing and my delicate former redhead skin isn't up to that.
But I did try the dry heat sauna, the steam room sauna, and the salt room, along with the big hot tub and adjoining cold tub. It wasn't TOO cold so not the shock I expected but it was nice.
After the spa we went to a nice Cuban American bistro in the downtown area of the next town over, and then to two farmers markets and Sprouts (to get my bread) so we came home with too much fruit. too many noodles, and some frozen gluten free lasagna, shepherds pie, and Sprouts brand gluten free chicken tenders. I ate a red plum, some cheese, the rest af the open loaf of bread, and some more of that peppered turkey breast. I had to eat something with my evening metformin and other meds. Jason ate half of a personal watermelon, so far, but he may eat some noodles later for a further snack.
I am tired, as it was a very shoppy weekend. I may go to bed early tonight.

good morning,
Jo, I like the card to have the right sentiment for the person too. The one I ended up with had the right words, but the graphics were not what I was looking for. That was as close as I could find. Sometimes it's good to have some downtime. Ed, a spa day sounds great. Odd that you could only get a massage with exfoliating. Yikes. A friend of mine was looking for a hot salt float place. I never heard of that before, but apparently it's very relaxing. Hi Irene.
It's currently 50F, 10C, overcast. Periods of clouds and sunshine expected. High 69F, 21C. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Possible winds, hail, and thunderstorms in the evening. I walked around Main St yesterday for something to do, and I called my bestie in CA, it's always good to talk with her. I'm back from getting my blood tests for my yearly physical next week, and I'm looking out the window and see the first gold finch of the season at our feeders, so bright and pretty!
Wishing all a bright shiny new week. Hope we all make it through unscathed. ββοΈππ€π»ποΈ

Scam of the Week
This Refund Costs Money
In this weekβs scam, you receive an email that appears to be from Microsoft. The email says that you have purchased a subscription to one of Microsoftβs products. It seems legitimate because it is sent from a Microsoft domain, has a genuine order number in the text, and even contains official logos.
The email claims that you bought an expensive Microsoft subscription and gives a number to call for a refund if you didn't make the purchase. But this email and the support phone number aren't real. If you call the number, scammers posing as Microsoft support will likely ask you for your login and bank account information. You never actually paid for any Microsoft products, but if you call the fake phone number, you will pay the scammers!
Follow these tips to avoid falling victim to a phishing scam:
You should always be suspicious if an unsolicited email asks you to call a phone number. Microsoft would never request that you call a phone number for a refund.
If you have concerns about a purchase, always go directly to Microsoft's official website.
Always be cautious when you receive unexpected emails about account problems, security alerts, or purchases. These emails can be a setup for a phishing scam. The KnowBe4 Security Team

I need to get some laundry going, but first I need to have blood drawn for lab work. And this afternoon I have my teeth cleaned at the periodontist. Joy!
Dinner last night was Caulipower brand chicken tenders from the freezer, a sliced tomato, some crackers, a crusty gluten free roll, and a few bites of ful medames that I made with the fresh fava beans I bought at the farmers market.

It's currently 60F,16C, overcast. Forecast for partly cloudy and windy. High 64F, 18C. Winds W at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph. I went to Frederick yesterday afternoon. I haven't been to Ross in a really long time. I found a pair of Levi-Strauss loose fit straight leg jeans on sale, so new pair of comfy pants for me. Can't remember the last time I had Levi's. Good morning;
It is currently 61F with a mixture of sun and clouds. Yesterday was also a nice day. I got out and cleaned up a little of the front yard. Ed-good luck at the Perio and with your blood work. Irene-How long before you get the results of the heart monitor? Hi Vix. After work I went and picked up a chocolate cream pie and a zucchini quiche to go with the ham I bought for our Easter brunch. I also stopped at an Italian bakery for Easter Bread, but they were just starting to bake them. I will go back tomorrow for the bread. Enjoy your day!π

Jo, glad you had a nice day, always good to get out. Your Easter brunch sounds like a delicious treat! π° Hi Ed and Irene.
It's currently 44F, 7C. Partly cloudy. Windy. High 57F, 14C. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Higher wind gusts possible. The sky this morning is shades of gray clouds with some space for the sun to brighten them up in the eastern sky, and it's windy, so it looks a bit ominous. There was a rabbit in our yard this morning joining our various birds. π
Yesterday, I worked on the "unicorn" and "scary gnome" , they were too dry to do much with other than smooth them out. The pie plate I'm working on is still pretty wet, π€π»I'm letting it dry very slowly hoping it won't crack. I brought home a couple of little bowls that were done, and again fixed the one with some gaps in the glaze and still trying to fix the leaky cup. I played with the grandchildren for a while, sweet. Will see what today brings. Wishing you all a happy πͺday. ββ π€π»ποΈ

Breakfast was blueberry vanilla granola and the rest of the package of peppered turkey. Juice and tea to drink, as usual.
