The New Water Cooler

I have been having a week of everything getting under my skin and irritating me. I've also been eating because I feel irritated and buying lunch/supper/breakfast when I have full cupboards at home. In the space of about 2 1/2 weeks I spent $285 on buying one of my meals or "comfort" food as I call it. I need to run when I get stressed! Or even better, pray to God and ask him to help me.
Friday night was the closing and awards night for the kids program. I chocked on a few tears as I presented my 6th graders with the promotional awards. I have been working in that program for about 12 years now, and next year will be the first time I don't have any kids from two different families.
I planted my flower gardens on Tuesday as I didn't trust the weekend weather. It was cloudy all day yesterday but it only rained overnight and on this Sunday afternoon, it's nice and sunny! (Tulips are now all dead and pulled out)

normal weekend. Errands, groceries, laundry, sleeping, church. I didn’t feel great yesterday but got some cookies made and put in the freezer to take to work later this week for birthday treats.
Good call on the bulldog mug. 😉
There are several meetings coming up this week that have a strange feeling to them. So we’ll see what that’s about
Here we go

Today is packing day. Laundry is done, suitcase is out and list is made.
We drove to the baseball game yesterday but heavy rain was coming in so we went out to dinner instead, then home. We got a good downpour at home too so no watering needed today. Yay! I have to give Russ a lesson for watering and dead heading my flowers and watering the garden while I'm gone.
Angela, your plants and flowers look great. Do you rent a house or apartment? It's nice you have space to garden. How old are you now? Your symptoms sound like peri menopause. Irritation, craving foods, fatigue, etc.
Marla, good luck with your meetings this week. I hope no big, devastating announcements.
The sun is out so I hope to get some deck time today after I pack. I need to check the oil in my car, get cash, snacks, and pack.
I will try to get on the road by 5:30am MI time tomorrow.
I will check in. Have a great week.

I rent the basement of a split level house. My landlord lets me plant in those flower beds. It's the best part of front of the yard. They would be weeds if I didn't do anything.
I will be 46 in a couple weeks. I am very much in the midst of perimenopause! I never thought to relate to how I was feeling to that

😀😀😀😀
I had an exciting delivery last night.

happy music making Ang, and your flowers are lovely!
Safe travels J!
The heat is rolling in this week. ☹️

I love the keyboard! Enjoy!
Peri Menopause seems to include a lot of symptoms, different from one person to another. It just sounded familiar to what I went through. Bloating, muscle pain, irritation, sleep issues, hot flashes to name a few…
I made it to Mpls yesterday. Lots of road construction which was so irritating. More than typical and highways down to one lane with reduced speed limits and only one to two guys working in one spot. The lane closures were very long. At one point they backed up 50+ cars for 15 or more minutes. Roads were under construction the majority of the trip. It took me 12 hours due to the delays.
Weather here is iffy. Today is cooler and over cast, rain expected. Friday will be only 60. Not much different than home. I brought clothes for 70's because that is what the weather app told me.
Today I'm shopping and hanging out with Hugo, bulldog. Tonight dinner with a friend.
It's nice your landlord lets you plant. A win for them since they don't.
Give us some of your heat, Marla! Have a happy birthday today!

I had a nice dinner with my friend Shannon last night. We talked at the restaurant from 3:45 to 8pm. I'll see her at the retirement open house again this afternoon. This morning I will go to coffee with my knitting group I use to meet with monthly.
Weather here is still gray and rainy. Tomorrow is suppose to drop to 59 degrees for the high.
The week is going fast.
Marla, did you have a nice birthday?
0 -
Ah Friday. Only two days of work next week then VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
0 -
how on earth are you all still getting such nice, cool temperatures? I am so jealous. It's over 90 here and I hate it.
My birthday was better than some. Bernie got me a nice floral arrangement, which I am enjoying very much. I was hoping and hinting (literally saying at least a dozen times, I really want a double-chocolate cake for my birthday) for months for a double-chocolate cake from from the bakery we visit and it didn't magically appear. So I am very sad about that. I am trying to focus on the lovely flowers, but I REALLY wanted a cake.
Happy vacation Ang.
Enjoy all that visiting J!

Happy belated Birthday Marla. You could do what I do to get the cake I want, buy it yourself
One week from today I am in Toronto!!! I am going to see my Blue Jays in person! A life long dream come true! I am also going down to see the Niagara Falls. My birthday is while I am away, and I have dinner reservations booked for the 360 Restaurant in the CN Tower.

My last day in MN. My friend Kris and I head to Green Bay, WI tomorrow. We will stay at her Mom's and then drive to my house in MI on Monday.
It has been a cold, rainy week in MN. I didn't bring enough warm clothes. Another pair of long pants and a long sleeve shirt would have been nice. The parties were fun and I saw lots of friends.
Marla, I'm glad Bernie acknowledged your birthday but am sorry you didn't get your cake. I agree with Angela, treat yourself to what you want. Eat cake! Celebrate you!
Angela, have a wonderful vacation and fun at the game.

I fly to Toronto in THREE days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I decided to update my hotel. I am now walking distance to all I plan to see
0 -
Angela, your hotel looks wonderful. Enjoy!
Kris and I arrived home yesterday evening. We stayed at her Mom's house in WI on Sunday eve. I met her brothers and their wives. It was a nice evening. Our drive to MI seemed long. I'm done with long car travel for awhile.
We went shopping today. I finally bought a piece of the hand painted Polish pottery that I have wanted. We had Dole Whip and hotdogs for lunch at a stand, bought an apple/raspberry pie and vanilla icecream for dessert tonight, and had a glass of wine at a winery. Now we are home relaxing. It poured rain this morning so I don't need to water the garden or flowers, yay!
Marla, what are you up to?

TWO DAYS! I am getting so excited. I have never done anything like this before. I think the excitement is outweighing the nerves
I am eating non-stop lately. I just can't seem to stop. I have been going 1000+ calories over my daily allotment. Not running is probably not helping. I need to get out the door tomorrow and run.
I am off tomorrow. I needed a day to get ready to go on vacation. It's more then just packing. It's also the cleaning and the laundry. Last minute shopping prep……………

so exciting for you Ang I hope you have an amazing time
Glad you enjoyed your trip J and are home safe
Nothing new, I too have been really hungry. So on the struggle bus as usual.
Anyone familiar with the Ninja Creami? Caleb mentioned he would like one for his birthday and I have to say I have looked at them for myself too.

Have a great time Angela!
Marla, I hadn't heard about the Ninja Creami but just looked it up. That could be fun and tasty, but dangerous.
I haven't been to the Y in over two weeks due to gardening, packing, trip to MN and now having Kris here visiting. I feel tubby! We also bought an apple/raspberry pie and vanilla ice cream. We've had a piece two nights in a row. Tomorrow we are going winery hopping for a bit. They have refreshing fruit slushies.
Today Kris and I went to a store with homemade pottery tiles that reflect the scenes of this area. I wanted a few to hang in our house so I found three. We checked out a consignment shop, a second hand antique store and then came home to knit, eat dinner and chat.
Very rainy week again. That is two weeks in a row for me. My garden must be water logged.

I have been getting strawberry rhubarb pie from the farmers market for the last three weeks. So delicious. I think I have finally had my fill and am not obsessed about getting another Saturday.

Summer fruit pies are the best.
Kris and I went to 3 wineries on the Old Mission Peninsula today. We had snacks and a slushie at the first one, a glass of wine at the second, and a slushie at the third. Sunny, hot day. Out to dinner with Russ, took a walk, and have been knitting our projects.
Not sure what we are doing tomorrow, possibly rock hunting at the beach.
Hope you are having a good week.

it's brutal here - over 100 degrees. Mercy, so freaking hot. We had that nasty hot in early May and more nasty hot again. I know it's summer, but dang. This is late July hot. I'm hungry but not leaving the house until tomorrow morning.

I got word that a friend and former coworker, almost age 68, has had a hemorrhagic stroke. She was at the retirement party and did not seem herself and we were all worried. She seemed drunk and her eye was droopy. She mumbled something to me and walked away and I didn't get a chance to talk to her. She was at book club with my friends and not herself. They were all worried and one followed her home but she was driving as if she was drunk. The friend talked to her husband and told him she needed to go to the ER. Well she finally went and they sent her in an ambulance to a trauma hospital for neuro surgery today. She probably had the stroke days ago and has a brain bleed. We can only hope she will recover.
Very hot her, 93 today. Kris and I went to the beach but the black flies were biting. It was horrible and we didn't stay. Big storm this morning and trees down on houses and power lines near here. Luckily we didn't have damage.
I hope you are having a good weekend.

oh dear. I hope your friend received treatment in time to help her fully recover.
Hopefully the heat breaks today for a bit.
Bernie made a trip to see his 'step' grandmother who is suffering from dementia issues. The relationship has been fractured since Grandpa Bernie (yes, mine is named for him) died and Lee (step-gma) got her hands on his money got really shady with it. It can't really go back to how it was before Big Bernie died, but I have been trying to encourage him to make some visits. She was supportive of him when he was younger, so to try to focus on their early years. I won't be part of it since there is way too much bad stuff (and I'm done trying to pretzel myself to make that bunch like me - it never worked anyway), but a few visits by Bernie are needed.
Has your house painting started?

I dropped my friend at the airport yesterday around 5pm. Then I had book club and was out until 10:30pm. I'm beat today…
My friend Patty may be out of the ICU by now, not sure. Yesterday she was awake and wanting a shower according to the report I received. I don't know how this all impacted her cognitive, communication or motor skills yet.
The hot temps have gone and it is 70's today. So glad! I was going to plant some succulents at my parents grave. They grow wild on our property (Hens and Chicks), but not up to it today. Reading, washing bedding and towels, and cleaned our shower. That's it for today. Russ is moving the lawn because the window washer comes tomorrow. He will wash the windows in and out. Then the birds will poop or crash into the windows after that:(
I remember you telling me something about Lee and that era of the family. I'm glad Bernie went to see her. How did it go? Did he say anything?
Stay cool!

I had the most amazing time!!! Seeing my Blue Jays in person was a life long dream come true! And getting seats so close was well worth the price I paid! The view of Toronto from the CN Tower is amazing. The food was so good!
Niagara Falls? Wow. Just wow. They were so beautiful. The heat was hot! It hit a a feel like of mid 40s which is about 114 for you ladies. The underground tunnels in Niagara were the perfect place to be.
I took over 1,000 photos. I will have to decide which ones I want to share with you!

I'm glad you had a great time, Angela. Good for you for making your dreams come true. Looking forward to some of your photo highlights.
Temps are back to normal in northern Michigan at our place, 70's to low 80's. My window washer, Darrin, is here this morning. My sister gave me his name 5 years ago. I've used him every year because he is nice, dependable and most of all so affordable. He does the inside and outside, also cleaning screens for $200!! Of course the birds will poop and fly into the windows by the end of the day but at least the dust will be gone for awhile.
I have a haircut this morning. Then I may go to the cemetery to plant my Hens and Chicks at the graves, then visit Sarah in the nursing home late this afternoon.
Tomorrow is my overnight sleep study. Not looking forward to it but want to get it done and get treatment. Skeptical that I will get answers and treatment options in a timely manner. This could go on all summer!
Your work week is half done!

how wonderful that you had such an amazing time. Yay! Picture time.
I was wondering if your sleep stuff had been completed. Good luck. I hope this gets you some relief.
We got some rain. Very needed.
Hump day at least!

maybe too much rain. Hate saying we need it to stop, but need a break so it can soak in and the rivers can go down.
Friday, thank goodness.
Eye exam this afternoon. I think probably a new prescription coming, which is always a bit of a toss up getting everything to feel right.

Niagara Falls, whirlpool and rapids
People keep saying to have a good "long weekend". Only it's not. Canada Day is a Tuesday. That means I have to go to work on Monday then get a day off. I imagine a lot of people will have taken Monday off. I couldn't.
0 -
Beautiful photos Angela. I've never been to Niagara Falls. I heard the Canadian side is the best. Maybe Monday will be a low key day in the office with people taking a long weekend.
Marla, better to get some water in the ground for the later summer drought. We've had a lot of rain this month too. I like it when I don't need to water the flowers and garden.
I have harvested radishes, a few strawberries, and herbs. I planted some carrot seeds yesterday for Fall harvest. Just a few…
My sleep study was canceled the day of due to my insurance refused to cover it. I have really good insurance typically. I guess they felt the data from the home test two months ago was good enough to treat me for apnea. Now I'm waiting to be connected with a medical supply company for the cpap. I didn't hear from anyone today so with next week being the 4th and National Cherry Festival here, I probably won't hear for a while. This is dragging on way too long.
I went to a friends's house today to see her. She comes up seasonally and I haven't seen her in almost a year. She is having back problems and memory issues. She looked rough! When I arrived at her house, she didn't answer the door and wasn't inside. I went to walk down a path with a downward incline to her backyard. I lost my balance and fell forward landing on the right side of my rib cage. I'm either very bruised or fractured a rib. Not sure. Aches more than sharp pains when just sitting in the recliner. If I move suddenly or cough, it hurts. Icing now and have taken 3 Advil and 2 Tylenol two hours apart. I did find her trimming a bush in her backyard. She can't stand sitting around and thought she could trim a small branch. Hopefully I heal and will feel better in a few days. I really don't think I need to go to the ER.
Have a nice weekend!
