THE BLUE JAYS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First time since 1993. They went in 1992 and 1993 and won both years

Congratulations to your team Angela. That will be fun for you to watch the games.
I made an apple cobbler today from the Honey Crisp apples Kathy dropped off yesterday. There are a ton of apples left but I was able to use up 8 of them. I tasted a sample and the cobbler is really good. I will have a bowl later after I zoom with my knitting group in MN.
I didn't go to aquafit this morning. I was coughing and had a sore throat during the night, couldn't use my CPAP and decided to stay home, clean and bake.

Luckily I checked the aquafit schedule on the website before going in to the Y this morning. The class was canceled for today. Christina, teacher, must still not be able to lead the class after whatever surgery she had a couple of weeks ago. She thought she could lead from the pool deck after two weeks but must not be up to it.
Rainy and low 40's outside today. I should probably bundle up and go out to the pole barn and begin to sort the rest of those boxes from our move 5 years ago! I just need to get it done so it is not hanging over my head anymore.
My friend Eva, the one I went over to her house for dinner and hadn't seen in over 40 years, stopped by yesterday morning to see our place and chat. She really wants to move her year round. She has a brother, SIL, and three nieces/nephews up here. She also has that younger sister that is ripping off her mother's estate from her and other siblings and has no plans to see her. They only communicate through a lawyer at this point. So sad! She texted later yesterday afternoon and wanted my sister's contact info because she is a realtor. I had suggested they rent a place for a couple of months during the slow wintery months first to see what they think. It isn't for everyone to live rural in the off season and with lots of snow. I think they could afford to spend bad winter months in the south but not sure.
I can't seem to shake this tickle in my throat and mild coughing. It occurs mainly when I am in bed. My right hip also aches and that is annoying.
Well I should also figure out then next recipe for my apples!

I went back to studio yoga yesterday. It felt so good but I could tell my balance was not as good, deterioration of core strength, as it was last spring. I've signed up for next Saturday too. Then I will miss two weeks while we are in FL visiting the kids. I am aiming for minimum of 4 times per week exercise moving forward. My friend with pancreatic cancer said her doctors told her that because she is in such good shape and stays so active with exercise, she can handle the treatments better than most. She is getting good results with her treatments so far. She encouraged all of us, her friends, to make a point to exercise 5 times per week for stronger bodies.
I went to my cousins house for dinner last night. She invited Russ and I, my sisters and cousin Polly who lives her year round. Russ didn't go but I did. My sister Lynn had an eye exam this past week. Her first in many years. She needed glasses and was told she has early stage Macular Degeneration. My paternal aunt had it in her later years and my cousin Polly also has it. Another thing to worry about but Polly says it is correlated with smoking. All three of them were or are smokers and I am not. Hopefully I avoid that diagnosis. Growing old is something no one really talks about and is an eye opener as you merge into these later years. When you get to age 55 your doctor wants you to get the pneumonia shots, shingles shot, annual flu shots, RSV shot, colonoscopies… It never ends.
Darrin, our window washer, is suppose to arrive in a bit to wash the exterior of our windows one last time before winter. They collect a lot of dust, bird dew, bird feathers, etc. over the summer.
What are you both up to?

my computer is being stupid so I am trying to thumb type on my phone. Bleh
Go Bluejays for Ang!
I hope your friend tries a longer term rental over the winter and enjoys it. I agree with the constant appointments. I haven’t even been struggling with bad stuff health wise but have felt like I have had appointments constantly since September. Just routine. I’m trying to stay on the wellness side but it’s sure a hassle and time consuming. I postponed the dermatologist because I was just over all the appointments
Made it through the audit and if I can get on my computer I will try to get more in depth. But at least it is over
A cousin (first cousin for my mom) passed away on Thursday. She was a sweet lady. She came to my boys things (graduation) so I am planning on making the funeral.
It’s good that you’re friends cancer treatment is going somewhat better due to her overall fitness. I’m glad. It is encouraging that there is that benefit
Sunday sad face
Hugs

so - I made myself call my mom Saturday to check in and chat. (I hate talking on the phone). Most of the chat was fine, but at one point she asks about work and I just said, "it's not…. great." (Historically, expressing negative opinions get me reminded to be happy I have a job.) So, I do know better than to say anything bad. But, I'm also not going to lie, so I try to keep it neutral. Anyhoops. Her remark back was, "you still can't handle the grind, huh." Hmmm… I don't think that's true or fair. I have been grinding pretty much since I was going on 16. I didn't stay forever in all my jobs, and I know that comment is because I don't work as many hours as Michele. That's not what drives me. I'm not trying to prove anything, just support us. But it always come back to that. Like the visit when I admitted I had put in a couple of resumes at places and was bummed I didn't even get an interview (because that was really hard for me and a big step). I'm still stinging from the comments that I just wasn't trying hard enough. Which then makes me throw up in my mouth because I was doing some of the same to Zach when he was not working after graduation. Though that is somewhat different. I do believe there is some difference in him starting out and maybe being too slow to lower his sights to 'any job' to get his foot in and me not wanting 'any' job. But what would hopefully be a 'better' one. Sigh.
It also sounds like my dad is just dragging her around constantly for his medical stuff. But, also, again - if Michele isn't ready to push for them to be assisted, I'm not going there.
And dad was 'fit' enough to be out at the farm bugging Dan on the harvest, so - status quo. He always has enough time and vigor for the farm.

Marla, maybe the majority of families/parents are the same. My mother was critical and often said I "didn't try hard enough" if I failed. She never expressed approval when I did well though either. The friend I had dinner with last week said her mother was the same. Critical of appearance, etc. I do know people that had a good and positive relationship with their parents though. We get what we are dealt I guess…
Russ and I worked out at Strong Heart Center, the reservation's gym this morning. We go between 7 and 7:30 so it really gets the day started. I did the rowing machine for 15 minutes at a steady clip, walked a half a mile on the track carrying two pound weights and did some arm exercises with weights. Tomorrow I have my aquafit class that has a great cardio workout. I'm hopeful that I will build some muscle that will help increase my metabolism. I try to eat enough protein in a day. It all seems so futile but I know I feel better when I exercise and it can only be beneficial for health. Screw the scale!
Beautiful, crisp day outside. Yesterday I tackled my boxes in the pole barn. Dirty job with all the mouse droppings inside the boxes. I have 3 piles. Give away, dumpster, and put in basement to sort for house. I plan to go through the house pile one more time and make some hard decisions for keep or give away. Too much stuff!!!!

I keep seeing these weighted vests that people are wearing when walking (or running) recently. I wonder if I should look at one to wear while I walk on my machine. I know weight lifting is really important for future health, but I'm not much into it and walking on my machine is about all I'm going to do - for now anyways.
You know, I actually think the increased fiber/omega supplement may be helping? My blood pressure has been lower recently (aside from the doc offices obviously - b/c they all still think I'm lying even though I show them my at home readings). I have actually been feeling a little wonky some days b/c it is getting lower than normal. The ground flaxseed and ground oats I have been adding is the 'new' thing I have been adding and those have a good amount of fiber and omegas. We'll see if that continues.

Another beautiful sunny day. I went to the Y for my intense aquafit class. I worked hard and picked up the pace. I'm tired!
We met with our painter last night and went over the details of the house painting in the Spring. He is really nice. He said they will fill woodpecker holes, put on new caulk if needed, pull any old nails jutting out and paint our new doors for no additional cost. Yay! That means Russ will have less prep to do in the Spring.
Our new dishwasher, not 2 years old, is leaking out the lower front when it is in wash cycle. They sure don't make appliances to last anymore. We will have to have it serviced if Russ can't figure out the problem.
Home ownership is a budget buster!

Sorry I haven't got on here in awhile. I've been busy and having late nights watching the Jays in the World Series - No I did not watch all of the 18 inning game. I turned it off after 9 (which as 12:45am) saying I couldn't take AN other inning. I woke up 4 hours later and looked at my phone to see the score. I was sad they lost and then did a double take at how many innings at took 18!!!!???? Wowzers It is the Blue Jays longest game in their teem history
I've been busy trying to get things ready for this weekend. The Missions Conference at my church starts tomorrow. On Saturday, we do a banquet. I am doing the decorations for it. Sunday afternoon I had one my friends 2 daughters over (12 and 14) and they helped me pre-fold all the napkins and put together the favours. I still have to make the center pieces. I need to do that tonight when watching the Jays game.
Sunday I broke a tooth. It's the one that mostly root canal. I broke what little tooth is left. Since there it is mostly root canal, I can't feel it. I don't want to get an implant there. It's way to costly. I have the money, but just because I have it doesn't mean I want to use it for that reason! I have an appointment Monday for an extraction.
0 -
oh - I'm glad you're tooth is not causing you pain - dental pain can be quite awful otherwise. Go Blue jays ;>)
I'm loving the lower temperatures. I hope it sticks around for awhile before the you know what.
I am flabbergasted that October is over in a couple of days. It's time to figure out Thanksgiving and Christmas for heavens sake.
Oh, home maintenance. The pain in the pocketbook you are.
I was digging through my drawers looking for nylons to wear with a dress for the funeral tomorrow. I lucked out (hopefully) and found a pair. Hopefully they are ok when I pull them on tomorrow morning. I have been strictly going to the 'contemporary' service for several years now and not wearing my dresses. Man, I remember how expensive I thought nylons were years ago, I can't imagine what they've gone to recently.
Hump day.

I didn't watch the game but was amazed it went 18 innings and figured it had to be exciting to watch. Good luck with your Mission Conference and decorating for it. It's nice you had help from the younger set.
Angela, I had a molar pulled a couple of years ago. I was sent for a root canal and they said they couldn't do it. I don't remember why. They told me the molar had to be extracted and I would need an implant and crown. I chose not to get the implant due to cost and the open space doesn't bother me.
Russ and I worked out this morning and then I had my haircut and pedicure for Florida trip next week. I'm tired from my flu and Covid vaccines yesterday so I've been watching Hallmark Christmas movies all afternoon. Tomorrow I will go to aquafit and visit Sarah at the nursing home.
I am also amazed at how fast the months are passing by. September and October went so fast.

By tomorrow we will make the decision if we will cancel our flights and drive to St. Augustine. So many cancellations and delays occurring across the country due to the govt shutdown. We are worried about being stuck on a plane on the tarmac for hours or stuck in an airport not getting anywhere. We are also worried about flight home getting cancelled and being stranded in FL. We will make the decision tomorrow. We booked hotels for the ride down and will cancel if we stick with flying. Traveling is such a pain in the XXX. Not to mention our govt shutdown is due to inept, corrupt, full of non partisan idiots…..(both parties).
Do you both celebrate Halloween? Russ and I aren't fans and we don't get trick or treaters in the country.
0 -
We get some candy to hand out. There are not very many that come around, but it's cute. I think those 'trunk-and-treat' things that have become so popular the last few years have cut down on some of the door to door stuff.
I don't blame you for being concerned about traveling. As an anxious person anyway that would really get me going. I have so many big thoughts about all that is going on. I got into a couple of yelling matches with Bernie recently. I used to consider myself conservative, but obviously the things going on now are not aligned with that. But Bernie can't even take a big picture look at things. He just keeps spouting 'it's all the Democrats fault'. I just have had it. I don't have big love either way, but I will not silently stand by and not say the hard things. The 'stupid' democrats are trying to save people and his party (and unfortunately mine) are trying to raze all but their precious few.

Dang lost my stuff. Oh well, blah, blah, corrupt, money for gilded cages, havens for when the war crimes happen, gestapo bullies of course. Everyone else fight amongst yourself so you take your eye off the reality.
Volleyball got their win over those Badgers last night. And Texas A&M beat those yucky Longhorns. Horns down! :>)
I texted my sister to see about Thanksgiving and I gave a couple of things I thought could work. She replied that 'she was planning to have it and x, y, z. I was like, oh ok. I mean we usually just kind of touch base with each other. Whatever.

I really don't like party politics. I am a registered Democrat (enemy of the country I guess) but I just vote with what I believe and my bleeding heart is more aligned with the Democratic party. My parents were Indiana Republicans but the party was so different in their era. I don't think either party cares about those of us in the middle class that just want a comfortable life. They are all filling their bank and investment accounts. Makes me angry. I wish we could vote them all out, start over and build this country to what it should be.
We are driving to FL. Leaving Monday morning so packing has started. I have my list, clothes, etc set out to pack and will make final decisions tomorrow as to what I take. I'm taking my bigger suitcase since we aren't flying.
My FL son, Jeff, turned 36 years old today. Wowzer! David will be 38 in February and Rory 31 in March. Time has flown by so fast. How old are Z and C now?

I couldn't sleep so I was up at 4am for the day. My brain was wired and I felt like I needed to update our emergency folder and file box for the boys in case of accident, severe injury or death. I'm practical and want them to know where our accounts, Wills, Health Directives, bills, etc are. I had Russ put their years of birth in our coded door entries so they can get in to the house if something happens. I've notified all three of them and wrote a letter that is in the top of the file. They have their roles and instructions if they need to act. They typically freak when I bring this stuff up but they will be thankful when they do have to access it at some point. I hadn't updated it in 10 years so it was time. I will stay more current going forward. When we get back home we are going to make an appointment with an Elder Attorney so we can get the house taken care of for the boys if we are gone and they get possession. Avoid probate court… After dealing with my brother's mess when he died, I don't want the boys to have to search info, etc. Trying to get our stuff under control too. Way too much!
I am all packed and ready to go. Now to clean the house in a bit. Rory and Hannah are calling soon, my sister is coming at 2pm to visit.
I hope you are having a good weekend. I am taking my computer to FL so will stay in touch.

While it is sad the Blue Jays lost the fact they made it to the World Series for the first time in 32 years is amazing. It was a fantastic year for the Jays and I am so happy with how well they did this year.
This past weekend was wonderful. It was the Missions Conference at my church and it was such a blessing. Due to some glitches with the reservation, we didn't get the banquet all until 1 1/2 hours before the our time (we had access to the kitchen to start the cooking). So many people came to help me get everything together and get it done on time. It's also nice to see how the idea in my head came out so well. It looked great. I will have to share pictures later.
Well my schedule is back to normal with my sleep getting back to normal as well with the post-season of baseball over. That means I need to get back on track with my running and eating correctly. No more binge eating. (Which will be hard with candy dishes all over the office!)
This afternoon I am having a tooth pulled. It's mostly root canal with the front of the tooth. I broke that front of the tooth part biting down on a peppermint. I moved up the removal of that tooth. I was going to get an implant and crown there, but that my insurance denied the claim on the implant I am currently getting, and it's way to costly do that again! It's back far enough in my mouth you won't naturally see the gap. (The other one is in my smile line.)

Good luck with the dentist Ang
Hope your drive is going well J
at least it's Thursday!

Ang, hope all went well with dental work. So expensive in the U.S.
We made it to St. Augustine yesterday afternoon. High 70's to 82 here. Sunny, warm and nice to not wear a jacket. Today I am wearing shorts.
Our initial contact with the kids, they were shy. By evening when we went to their house for dinner they were talking to us. Their new puppy, standard poodle, is 6 months old and the size of a miniature horse! His name is Pluto and he is a cutie but active. Very good with the kids. Our second time meeting Hayden, youngest. He will be one year old on 12/6. He is chill, very social and has a beautiful smile like his Dad when he was 1-2 years old.
Russ and I went and bought a small fan for our bedroom. No ceiling fan like last year's apt across the hall. Very stuffy in the bedroom so we needed something to circulate the air. We will take it home and it can be used when guests come if they need it.
My sister texted that our area at home could get snow or flurries by Sunday or Monday. Ugh! Too early!

My insurance covered 80% of it. With the limit on my dental work I can have a year, and the amount I have had to have done this year, I was pleasantly surprised I had that much covered. I was expecting to have to pay more.
Today I feel like I need to eat to make up for 3 days on a soft food diet and not feeling full enough. Not a enough of a reason.
With Tuesday being a holiday, I took Monday off from work to give myself a 4 day weekend. I am looking forward to it. This weekend I am going to a popular local Christmas craft fair. This year they changed their tickets for going. You must purchase them in advance. You also have to purchase for them for a 2 hour time slot. You can come at any time during that time but you have to leave at the end as they close the doors for 15 minutes between time slots. If you want to go back, you have to purchase another ticket. Good thing I am mostly after just a couple things - my calendar for next year (I got a cat calendar from the people I got Wesley from, who also see cat toys) and fudge.

Be careful on FB. Yesterday I clicked on a Messenger Notice that I had a message to read. It was a small box with the icon of Messenger inside it. I clicked and it started to download a virus. I quickly shut down my computer and let it sit until this morning. So far so good!
I walked 1.5 miles briskly when I got up today. It was already 70 and humid (for me). I remembered to bring my ear buds and listened to an '80's brisk walking playlist. I hadn't exercised since last Monday so I didn't push any further.
Miles has preschool today so we won't see him until this afternoon. Hopefully Karah, Hayden and Layney want to catch up this morning.
We bought a fan at Target yesterday and it made all the difference providing circulated air and white noise for sleeping. We are use to that.
I hope you both are having a good week. TGIF!!

oh no - dang virus. Did you run a scan to make sure nothing was corrupted? If it was your phone, usually the anti-virus you put on laptops will have a few licenses - like my McAfee has enough I could put it on my phone. I haven't, but if I thought I needed a scan I would.
Yeah - g-baby time! Enjoy all those sweet hugs, stories, exuberance and fun.
SCREAM - my typing just disappeared again!!! ARGH

I have been watching volleyball, made some spread for tortillas, made some scotcharoos. Spent way too much doing paperwork. I needed to do my FSA submissions, update my checkbook and I have way to much stuff on my desk. Sigh. The day went so fast. :(
Weekend my friends!

We've seen the kids every day and eat together at night. Today we are treating them all to a great seafood restaurant where you eat on the pier picnic table style. If it rains like it may later, we will eat inside. It's nice on the pier because Miles and Layney can get out of their seats and peek over the railing to the water below.
I walked a little over 2 miles this morning. I do not tolerate humidity and I was dripping sweat by the time I returned to the rental. Felt good to move though. Too much sitting between travel and visiting. This next week, Russ and I will plan a couple of outings for us.
Our yard in MI has at least an inch of snow this morning! Possible 2 more inches are expected. I hope it is gone by the time we get home. Not ready for winter yet.
I love Scotcharoos! Enjoy your Sunday.

ugh…….so sick horrible vertigo and throwing up………not cool
0 -
Sorry you don't feel well Marla. Russ doesn't feel well today so we will see how that plays out. Have you had vertigo before? I feel like my balance is off lately. I know it can mean a vitamin deficiency of some kind or just the inner ear acting up.
We toured Flagler College yesterday. I wanted to see the Tiffany windows that were placed in the building when it was built back in the 1800's. They are beautiful! Quite the Hogwart's feel but beautiful too.
We are walking to historic downtown today to meet Jeff for lunch/brunch and see where his office is. Karah and the kids are walking with us. St. Augustine's Light Up the Night for Christmas begins Saturday. They have been working for days to put all the Christmas lights up for the kick off of the holiday season. I guess downtown gets very crowded in the evenings during the season due to how beautiful the lights look. We are going to look at it from the bridge over the intercoastal after dark.
Time for my coffee. Feel better soon Marla.

I have never had vertigo before (self diagnosed), I don’t know if it was viral or headache based. But really rough. I am feeling a bit better, but still pretty dizzy. I am sure because I am dehydrated.
I have a cousin going to school at Flagler this year.
Neat you can be there for the holiday pretty’s0 -
Russ was in bed all day yesterday, very fatigued and digestive issues. I'm guessing he caught some kind of bug. It has happened before when we travel. It's almost like his body has a hard time with schedule change including meals, car, sleep changes, etc. Eating take out and meals at restaurants doesn't help. Portions are so huge and a person can eat more than they really need. We really need to share a meal at restaurants. Neither of us can eat a whole meal with the huge servings so too much waste and too much money spent.
I went to visit Jeff downtown with Karah and the kids. We saw his office (beautiful view of the intercoastal, bridge to the island and boats), walked to a bagel place for bagels and cream cheese of our choice, and then their favorite coffee place downtown. These places have the cutest outdoor patios. I guess decent year round weather warrants cute outdoor places. There is a small interactive pirate museum and the kids were intrigued by a treasure chest outside the house that hosts the museum. They are really into pirates and spooky things right now. I went over to their house for dinner last night.
Not sure what today will be. Russ was planning to cook dinner tonight but I'm guessing that will be postponed. I need to do a load of laundry and get outside since it will be 70 today.
I hope you are feeling better Marla. Drink fluids!
