Hi there,
I want to reward myself without overeating/consuming my favorite junk foods. Anything that gets in the way of my goal is a hindrance - so what else can I indulge in?
Here is a personal list of things that make me just as happy as a french fries and a milkshake
Please add on your "look-forward-to's" as well!
- Watching that new episode of your favorite series
-Taking a long, hot bath
-Getting your nails done
-Meeting up with friends for some good laughs
-Buying a new pair of shoes
-ect
Now, tell me yours!

I love going on "Pinterest" and have a bulletin board full of tips and projects I want to try. I also love to bake .. and believe it or not, I don't really have a problem controlling myself or being around it. I leave a little at home for my kids to enjoy and I take the rest in to work and let my co-workers enjoy it. The fun for me is making it .. not eating it.28

I am really just trying to find some new vices. Before I had kids I smoked for a long time. And I worked all the time. Once I got pregnant food replaced the smokes and I no longer worked outside the home so I was more free to eat any time of the day or night. My other vices like TV, the internet, going out with friends all are connected with eating, too. I have really had to trace my steps very far back to find what it is I even love to do anymore.
So far I have started taking baths again, doing crafts (mostly for the kids scouts and school but I really like it), meditating again, hiking again, reading more, taking more walks.
I remember how much I loved dolls when I was a kid. So I think I might try making a reborn doll or dollfie and see how that goes. I used to write a lot when I was a teen and young adult so I want to get back to that as well.
it is truly amazing how much more of yourself you find when you stop covering it up with food.46 -

reading a book (haven't done in awhile), taking a long bath, getting my hair done, watching a good movie, going to the park with my daughter or having a good laugh with friends12

I will sit down and watch one of my favorite chick flicks, and paint my nails.
Watching youtube videos and finding fun ways to fix my hair/makeup and getting all prettied up - great for self-esteem
tanning bed (but not that often) or just laying out in the sun to tan
taking over the house with my music or audio book..
zumba! I love to zumba. I am a mom, so most the time I have to pay for a sitter to go..so it's a reward..lol
for a bigger reward, I will go see a movie in the theaters, or live theater which is a good time...even if it's for the kids
Dancing with the girls (after one of those makeover sessions..just like getting ready for prom..)7 -
Go to an Opera... something really special about the whole experience even for those people who don't follow it...the costumes, orchestra, amazing sets and getting lost in the story and the emotions.. try it once if you haven't yet!17

I have a really hard time with finding things to distract me from eating. My critical time is between 4 and 6pm. If I am in front of the TV or computer I tend to eat more...So I try to stay out of the house - those are my best days - I run errands, drive my kids around or wander around a store until I have to go home and cook. When I am home in the afternoons I have to try and keep busy to not think about snacking. I have even cleaned/rearranged my closet out more than once to keep busy. I think up new ways to wear my clothes and that motivates me to not eat. I try to get out in the yard, play with my kids and dog, take a small walk. I love fashion magazines, so reading them helps. I actually cut out the images I like and paste them in an inspiration journal. I also read a lot about human resources online which is the field I work in and try to keep my mind busy. I do exercise at home so I will get some exercise in here and there throughout the afternoon and before going to bed.13

On-line window shopping for clothes at my favourite stores (google Tia Star - her stuff is awesome!) helps keep me motivated and distracted from food. Also, I make an iced coffee while I do it - let strong coffee chill overnight in the fridge and add lots of milk and a drop of 5% cream - really tasty and low-fat!3

I signed up for 2 5k runs, one in September and another towards the end of October. So this week I've started the Couch 2 5k program to prepare! When I find myself lurking in front of the fridge or in the kitchen wondering aimlessly, I know I am not really hungry, just bored. I find a good movie on tv, grab my running shoes and hit the gym, or workout on the Xbox Kinect. Also, calling a friend helps keep my mind off of the kitchen.5

You nailed it for me! I LOVE baths, so I set up a reward system for it. If I behave and stay on track all week, on Sunday night I get to take a bath as hot as I want, and as long as I want. Awhile ago I learned how to make bubble bath and bath salts (and a couple more), so I get to add that to it too!
Sigh.
Just THINKING about it makes me happy! lol4 -
BUYING SMALLER CLOTHES!!!! This the best reward I could ever give myself. :flowerforyou:11

I work at a family business which is so stressful with extremely long hours. I am emotionally and physically drained everyday. I come home exhausted grab food sit on the couch to eat it then wind up eating myself to sleep. I just bought a kindle so I'm going to try getting dinner at work at 5 then reading myself to sleep instead of eating myself to sleep.8

I do a mini-spa for face - exfoliation, mask, toning, moisturizing. It's very restful and very indulgent. It forces you to slow down a little. :-)2
