hello
My name is David. I'm 50 yo with Lymphedema in my legs. I wear wraps everyday and really try to keep my sodium at 2000mg per day. I made quite a bit of my own food, ketchup, bbq sauce, simple dressings because of all the sodium in store bought products. If your interested there is a website for a company here in Minnesota…
Low sodium when dining out
It's been over two years since I last ate junk food or restaurant foods. Given that the national wastewater viral load (https://biobot.io/data/) shows the current surge to be the second worst, it will be some time before I return to the world of restaurant foods. One thing I don't miss about restaurant food is the…
Kidney disease IGA Nephropathy
I was recently diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy and my doctor suggested a low sodium low protein diet but I am not really sure how to keep up with this meal plan! I would like to lose weight but I just got hip surgery so exercise is not an option at the moment! How do I start this special diet with a husband who loves meat…
New to this lifestyle...
Hi. I have had a restriction of 1200 mg imposed upon me. Yesterday was the first day of ever tracking sodium in my life. And, because I was so flummoxed as to what I could eat (other restrictions have been put in place too) I found myself missing more than 500 calories yesterday. I could stand to lose a few pounds, so one…
Misleading nutrition label
Hubby bought half a roasted chicken from the supermarket for his dinner. Ate half of it and when he was getting the remaining half out of the bag to make his lunch he said 'Oooh dear, this has only got 28% sodium. - Well that sounds misleading. What size serve? - 100grams. - How many serves in the package? - Just the one.…
Low sodium products
While I prefer to use whole fresh foods as much as possible, I do love finding low sodium items at the store too. Post here if you come across products you'd recommend!
Meniere's Disease
Is there anyone in here that has Meniere's Disease? I was diagnosed last August after having a tumor removed from my inner ear. It pretty much eradicated my endolymphatic sac and was pushed up against my brain. It was causing the most extreme vertigo I have ever experienced. I had a glorious six months being vertigo-free…
What are your favorite substitutions?
So, what are your favorite substitutions? One I'm looking for is a replacement for soy sauce. Lower sodium is still really high. Coconut aminos are not bad, but not quite right.
Just saying hi and a little bit more.
Hubby has nodes on his adrenal glands and chf and other stuff. I have suggested that it might be best to take a wholefood plant based approach. If I don't cook for him, he wont. Literally wont. Although my main reproach of - I aint your mother, go cook your own damn meals has just enabled him to continue making what I…
my story & suggestion
I am 69 years old and was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension 14 months ago. It's a progressive lung disease that eventually leads to death because of heart failure. My doctor told me that I must consume no more than 2000mg of sodium daily. I've been working at this for about a year now and I'm finally beginning…
