Dissapointed
I have really tried to not freak out about the scale numbers. I have been on this journey (this time) since October 14. I estimated my start weight at 150. I was more than likely less than that. I am 227 as of this morning. That's a great start. I know this. I broke it down by month. October through November I lost…

What's different this time?
I saw a thread on the boards and thought it would be interesting to hear what's different this time for the larger losers. Most of us have tried and failed in the past. What's different this time around that makes it easier for you?

Thanksgiving
My family celebrates occasions with food. My grandmother was visiting for the past week so my mother made a full Thanksgiving spread. I was very concerned about going and being around all the food. I am on a much smaller calorie goal than most due to gastric sleeve. I got up and ate a cheese stick for breakfast, so that I…

Exercise during sick days?
Just wondering if anyone has feedback on exercising during sick days? I definitely understand rest/fluids/diet important while sick, and important to follow MD recommendations, and certainly shouldn’t do something you’re not up to. Being obese, I understand I have a weakened immune system and more likely to get sick. I…

Spreadsheet
I know I have a lot of weight to lose, but boy I am all over the map. In my actual calorie count, I add 15% to my log here just to cover any logging errors. It has been a great 6 weeks. I have lost 7.54% of my body weight in 6 weeks. Just need to keep going in the right direction.

Black Friday
I posted this on anther board but I wanted to get you guys input. I am going to participate in the chaos that is Black Friday this year. I know that I will be up and moving and possibly fighting my way through the crowds. My question is how do I log this exercise so that I get credit for it? I have an apple watch but it…

Slendier brand konjac noodles
Our local supermarket sells these in a range of guises. Today I bought the pad thai type ones to try out with a vegetarian pad Thai for me and a chicken pad thai for the others. I was really impressed with them. They had the texture of "real" noodles, 10 calories per 100g and looked just the same as my usual pad thai. I…

Book/Media Club
I think it is important that we always push ourselves to learn and grow (or shrink). I believe, for me, it has been one of the major differences in what I have done this time that has worked (so far) and what I did not do before. I have been educating myself. In light of that I would like to see if anyone is interested. We…

ugh November 18, 2006
13 years ago today - after a lifetime of obesity - I reached my goal weight. 562.3 down to 217 at 6' 2 tall at at the time I was 47. I kept the weight off for over 7 years. Here I am at 60 today - after many false starts, I am back doing the things I need to do to get fit again. I started this October the 10th and I have…

Fitness trackers/smart watch?
I have had a fit bit for a couple of years now. First I had an alta hr and for the last year and a half or so a versa. My versa is starting to not hold its charge, so probably will need to be replaced soon. I was wondering what others have and use. I have done some research on the Samsung and Garmin trackers but do not…

Alcohol
Given that alcohol (ethyl) by itself is not a carb (4 kcal/g.) protein (4 kcal/g,) or fat (9 kcal/g) and has about 7 calories (kcal) per gram is there a metabolic effect that causes a person to "retain" weight temporarily? If you're drinking alcohol that doesn't have carbs in it are you still going to have the "carb…

Recommendations
Wonder if it's ok to start a thread about things we've found that have helped us? Having ordered the Beck solution from another person's recommendation, and impatiently awaiting its arrival (I like the idea of cognitive behavioral therapy and want to explore this more) I wanted to share a book I bought at the beginning of…

C25K
Anyone done this successfully? How big or out of shape where you when you started? I am thinking about starting this. But I am super out of shape! I have been doing Zumba but for some reason my head is making me think this running is going to be sooooooo much harder.

Questions about planning
Do you plan your meals each day and know exactly what you will eat each meal? Or do you see what you have left at the end of the day and eat dinner according to that and have an extra treat (or not) according to your target? If you plan, do you pre-log or do you just allocate calories and eat that number?

Halloween Woes

Calorie/Allowances
Hi all, Not sure if I’m just overthinking this. I’m not much of an eater but I have been really pushing myself to get to 1500 calorie, involves forcing myself to eat essentially... Anyway, on here my ‘allowance’ to lose 2lb a week is 2200 calories, I just can’t get to that amount no matter what, I’ve even tried exercising…

Set back
Had a little set back yesterday. I normally do a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch then a small dinner. No snacks through the day. I am also doing Zumba twice a week and strength training 3 times a week. My grandmother is in town visiting and we took her to lunch. So I ate half a philly cheesesteak sandwich. The…

Bad Shopping Trip
I first made the mistake of going to Aldi while I was hungry. In my mind, I was only going there to pick up to go mugs, if they still had any left. They didn't have any. I ended up picking up cashews, bean chips and salsa and bread. Then I went home, and basically had eaten the entire bag of cashews....wow. And I know it…

Accountability Discussion
I see a lot of people begging for accountability in the main forums. I suppose since I am not really an external accountability type person it does not happen here, at least not yet. It probably also doesn't help that I encourage people to live their lives and be human. I think a good plan has to persist through our ups…

Can't workout on Dr's orders
This sucks! I had bloodwork done, and everything was high. Protein in my urnie, diabetes, and my blood pressure was dangerously high. He said I was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.I canceled my trainer, and all I can really do is walk at a slow pace. Anybody else have a dr tell them they can't work out? If so, what…

Visualization fun
I am currently 160 + down from my highest weight (562.3) after having gained back from my goal weight after keeping it off for 7 years. I am back at it and I have lost 14 lbs. I used to always think of weight loss in lots of 25. We owned a snoball stand and I used to have to haul 25 lbs bags of sugar. A lot of them.…

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Hello everyone. I'm contemplating trying CBT for weight management.. I've had an unhealthy relationship with food for most of my adult life. I had taken CBT years ago when I was in a dark place mentally and it helped pull me out of that black hole.. Just curious if anyone has tried it for weight management before? I see…

The beginning is just hard!
Y'all... the beginning is just hard! Not the tracking... my OCD/perfectionist tendencies help with the tracking & staying within my calories part (for now... the anxiety & frustration when I can't find exactly what calories were in what I ate at a local restaurant are another story). I am a month in & have been doing…
