• As PAV said above, this is a good time to get that weight off. You are young! Don't wait till you're in your 40's or 50's. The older you get, the harder it is to lose. Good luck on the weight loss and good luck with the diabetes! I am also diabetic (type 2, diagnosed after 6 months of chemo in 2011). Most days I do fine,…
• I like the advice to change my goals to 1lb a week. I can feel my motivation slipping so those extra calories might be enough to stop me just giving up. Hopefully I will see the scale move soon.
That was great advice about changing your goal to a lb a week. If you aren't losing, it is so easy to lose motivation.…
• My meals are breakfast, lunch, supper, and snacks. Anything I eat between meals goes into Snacks section. I like the idea of bagging/boxing up snacks and eating from that throughout the day. We have nuts each night for a snack (hubby is type 1 diabetic so has to have snack), and I usually eat 6 almonds or 12 peanuts with a…
• As long as it fits within your calorie limit, go for it!! In my opinion, that makes it very doable. I am losing slowly, but I am not depriving myself of anything. When I belonged to weight watchers, we were asked to turn in our journals for a week. I was scolded for putting down foods that were not my usual because we were…
• I am a soda drinker for years. I bounce back and forth between the "real" stuff and the diet. Some of my friends tell me how awful the diet is for my teeth and bones. My dentist told me not to worry about it. I am 62, have all of my own teeth, and the dentist said that my teeth are very strong, even stronger than most…
• I will be at Disney World from the 19th-26th. I probably won't be logging while I am there, but I will be conscious of what I am eating. We plan to share meals, and we will have healthy foods in our room & backpacks. Lots of walking and water, water, water.
• have you ever tried yoga or hot yoga? i have serious knees and lower back issues and hot yoga has done wonders.
I have done yoga, and i did like it. I may need to look around for a place with hot yoga. I did go for a massage this past week, heavenly!!
• Right now, I am going by what my doctors want me to be. I am 62, went through cancer 6 years ago, am on different meds. My oncologist told me 185-190. I am 5'8". I will not be in the normal weight range, but with other issues, she and my family doctor have agreed that this is fine for me. I also have a large frame, so that…
• Agree with Malibu. Logging is so important. You are a couple inches taller than me. I am having the same issue with not losing, but I continue to log. I am envious of your running and doing the elliptical. My knees keep me from running, and when I do the elliptical, my hips hurt so bad after about 5 minutes. Start logging…
• Good luck in your new journey!!
• Uh oh. 2 calories. I guess I better start logging it. LOL Kidding! I do log everything else though.
• Pepsi Max is calorie free, so it shouldn't halt you from losing weight. I drink Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke, and Pepsi Max all the time, and I am losing. (not fast, but losing)
• There is a consignment shop near me for plus sizes only. She takes clothing from 14's on up. She used to just take 16's on up, but many of her customers have lost weight, so she is accommodating them. I have been taking clothing there for many years. When I take things in, I get to shop for me from the goodies that other…
• Water aerobics was something that I was able to do with my back issues several years ago. The recumbent stationary bike was also something else that I was able to do. Good luck!!
• How did you come up with the 2,200 you are to be eating?
• I wish I looked as good as you! You look great! How do you add pictures on here from a phone? Off topic, but curious.
• thebobbo, i didn't even notice that the posts were older ones!!
• Hybridtheory, you just gave me hope! Up and down the same 4 pounds since the end of July. Maybe it will go down and stay down someday!!
• I have been drinking diet soda as well as regular for many years. I also drink quite a bit of water. I had never had any problems with being diabetic, not even prediabetic, until I went through 6 months of intensive chemo in 2011. Talk about a shock to me and my oncologist. There are so many things that can cause diabetes,…
• tigz4, I can definitely relate! I "restarted" my journey the end of June when I joined a local gym. Have stayed below my calorie level all but a couple of days. I eat back half of my exercise calories at most. I have bounced up and down the same 4 pounds since June. It does get frustrating, but I know that I am stronger,…
• Let me know when you find out! I am there too. My oncologist told me 5-10 more pounds, although it will still be overweight by many standards. I am 62 years old, and I am pretty darn healthy really. lol
• I do log cleaning the house if it is a deep clean that includes washing windows. I also count mowing because of all of the steps I am taking. I have arthritis in my spine and fibromyalgia, so I don't do those things that often. Now on my good days, I am going to the gym. Thank goodness for good days.
• Yes it is. I know that. I said that I wasn't TRACKING calories and exercise. Woo.
• I took a 2 week break in May while we were in Europe. Had little to no access to internet, so I wasn't able to track calories and exercise. In my mind, I knew what I was eating and there were days I'm sure I ate a little over, but we did so much walking and climbing, I really didn't worry. Came home and had lost a couple…
• Mommagem, the 50 pound loss was a few years ago. I haven't gained what I had lost, and I was restarting to try to get more weight off. My calories are less than what I was eating then. Also, I was not doing the exercising like I am now, so it's amazing that I did get it off. toxikon, I am retired, but I really don't do…
• I didn't put some info in my original post. I am 62 years old, I am 5'8" tall, and I am currently 198. I am down 50+ pounds from a few years ago, so I know what to do. I do measure and weigh my foods. There have been a few times, very few, that I have gone over the calories that I am given for the day, but never more than…
• Subway is a great place to eat. Besides the sandwiches, they also have the delicious salads that you can get, just watch the toppings. Does the hospital have a cafeteria? They may have some foods there that could help you out. Sending prayers for your stepdad!
