I'm really liking Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme. It's fantastic stuff. Peanut butter cookie is where it's at.

Whether it shows a loss or not, the important thing is to keep moving forward. :)

This is going to sound really simple, but it's actually pretty yummy. You take a block of cream cheese, cut it into squares, and then roll each little square in sugar free jello. It's surprisingly delicious and takes almost no time to make. It's kind of a tart, cheesecakey taste. Strawberry is my favorite.

Emailed it to you. :)

Soda bread is the easiest bread to make. I used to make this for us when we were broke all the time. lol. And you don't have to buy buttermilk; you can make make your own with regular milk and little vinegar or lemon juice. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/213827/real-traditional-irish-soda-bread/

Black eyed peas and Lima beans are both easy to make. And potatoes are inexpensive as well. Big 8-10 lb bag will only set you back a $2-3 and you can do a lot with them (baked, boiled, soup, oven fries, etc). I've got a recipe for sausage veggie soup that runs me about $10 for everything, but it makes this gigantic stock…

The short answer is - just because it says USDA in the name doesn't mean it's accurate. :( Always try to doublecheck the figures somewhere else. A lot of the entries in the database are just wonky and incorrect.

Those sound good. I love coconut. Too bad they added sugar to them though. Would be nice to have a non-sweetened version of them as well. :)

Makes sense. Fix what you can. Deal with the rest later.
-
Which makes a lot of sense. So then you have this very multi-faceted problem, all these different factors contributing - socio-economic status, environment, education. It certainly is a little overwhelming.
-
Exactly! :) That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. I would love to see more questions like this asked. We don't just move through our environments without it affecting us in different subtle ways. It's all interconnected.

I think something that not enough people are looking into is the potential link between obesity and our ever increasing exposure to chemicals, toxins, and pollutants. And I don't mean just like pesticides on our food or anything, but think about it. Shampoo, soap, deodorant, makeup - all loaded with chemicals. Heavily…

Spinach is awesome in egg based dishes like quiche or frittatas. :)

I'm trying to keep it between 20-30 carbs a day. Are you a snacker or having meal issues? What I mean is - are you wanting ideas for low carbs snack things? Or actual meals that satisfy? Or just low-carb advice in general? :)

I LOVE cooking. ^_^ You mentioned bland food. The solution for that is herbs and spices. They add so much flavor and their calorie impact is negligible. And you don't have to go super heavy on the salt to get that flavor when you use them. Lots of recipes call for fresh herbs, which are delicious, but they can also be…

Turkey wraps - big piece of curly leaf lettuce, deli turkey breast, slice of provolone or gouda, and sliced avocado. Roll up and nom nom nom. Clementines, those tiny little tangerines, are awesome too. Boiled eggs aren't bad time wise either, just 10 minutes or so, and they're a good source of protein and fats. You can…

Beef and broccoli stir fry. Pulled pork with brussel sprouts. Grilled chicken breast on a spinach salad. Hamburger patties with sauteed onions and mushrooms. A beautiful piece of fish cooked with a little butter and lemon and some asparagus on the side. There's a lot of variety out there. Just pick a protein you find tasty…

Throw it in a pot with some onion and bell pepper and cook something cajun.

Tupelo. No better honey anywhere. :)
-
I've never heard of those. What are they?
-
The chicken idea is great. Just pair that with a big, leafy green salad and you're good to go. And there are lots of different ways to dress up your salads. I found this online and thought it was pretty neat. :)

For new potatoes, we always cooked them with fresh green beans, a little onion, and some bacon or boiling ham. Man that sounds good right now.
-
Well the corn and the peas aren't very low carb, but the broccoli and the okra both are. :) And there's lot you can do with a whole chicken. One thing would be to bone those chicken breasts real quick and stir fry them with the broccoli and some of the peas. And okra always makes me think of gumbo, which you can make with…

Yeah, I'm learning how to deal with that issue right now as well. I think it's the lack of structured activity that throws us. At work we're focused and there are structured routine things that get done every day. Work days are about work. Weekends are much more open, and consequently relaxing too lol, but they lack that…

I don't see where she was "blaming everyone but herself" for her situation. I think she specifically said several times that she recognized that overeating was the underlying cause of her being overweight. That sounds an awful lot like taking personal responsibility to me.

Just season them up with salt, pepper, plenty of garlic and herbs, put them in a pan with some very thinly sliced yellow onions, add about 1/2 cup of white wine, cover the whole thing and then slow cook it till they're falling off the bone. Good stuff.

Ok. So what I want to know is, for all responders who are so vehemently anti low carb - and for those of you who just generally don't think it makes a difference whatsoever - cico, cico, forever and ever, amen, etc ... why bother responding in the first place to keto/lowcarb/lchf/onlymeat4evah! threads? What is the payoff?…

Tsk, tsk. First off - you get Whoppers from Burger King, not McD's. McD's has Big Macs. And it's .99 to upgrade to large, not .50. That just covers a measly medium. But on that note, mmmmm whoppers.... You know you want The King.

I like egg drop soup. It hits the spot. And stir fried mushrooms and snow peas. Mmm.
